I hired Matt Turner because I was a victim of medical malpractice. Matt's ability to plan for and be proactive in my case was incredible to watch and be a part of. The preparation leading up to court was tremendous and I was so impressed with and thankful for his dedication. In court, he was simply amazing. The difference between my team (Team Debbie) and the defense team was very apparent to everyone in that court room, especially the jury. His staff is second to none. The defense team is a very reputable and established law firm but there was still no comparison. Matt was so prepared, professional, and asked all the right questions at the right time. His knowledge of the law and his research of my case was extraordinary. He is very smart and, at the same time, so kind and sensitive. Matt truly has a gift. I felt very safe and comfortable with him representing me during one of the most stressful events of my life. The lawsuit was against a top neurosurgeon in Oakland County. In fact, he's one of the top surgeons in the Midwest. The odds were against us, but with Matt by my side, we won. The victory was unanimous, which is very rare in Oakland County. I am so blessed and thankful that I hired Matt Turner. I will always recommend Matt to anyone that needs a lawyer. I have worked with many lawyers throughout my 40 year career and Matt Turner is the simply BEST I have ever seen.

Matthew took our case shortly after my mother was paralyzed from a surgery. But as time progressed, we got the feeling he wasn't even trying as he repeatedly claimed he was very busy with other cases. Upon further research from his peers, we discovered Matthew is one of those attorneys who only takes on "easy win" cases. So we began to press him a bit after 8-months for which we were informed that he'd get back with us after his vacation. Once he did, he informed us that our case required a lot of effort and he didn't have the time for it. So in the end, Matthew Turner wasted nearly a year of the 2-year timeframe for filing suit. I've lost respect for attorneys like Matthew Turner, they aren't fighting for you... they're fighting to make the most money for their firm with least effort of their resources.

Matt took over the lead in my case. I got the sense right away that he meant business and if anyone was going to be able to help me, Matt would! He has the exuberant go getter attitude that gave me instant confidence and trust that I was in good hands while at the same time was kind and sensitive to my situation. In the end, I felt he truly looked out for my best interests and gave me the informed and proper guidance to settle my case. I will recommend him to anyone i know that needs legal help. Thank you Matt!

I was referred to Robert A. Paris for a potential medical malpractice case. I told his office right away I was calling about med mal. They kept me on the phone for over 45 minutes, drilling me for details about the WORST event of my life, then said, 'Oh, yeah, we don't even do Medical Malpractice'. Not just a waste of time, an extremely painful waste of my time.

Life does not always go the direction we plan - sometimes, events in our lives can impact us in horrible ways. And unfortunately, we find ourselves in a position of needing an attorney. After my own devastating event, I sought an attorney with the knowledge and skills that could help me make sense of, and rebuild, my life. I was so fortunate to find Rob Parris. Rob is very knowledgeable and skilled in his representation of his clients. He was always realistic and tough, but also compassionate, supportive and encouraging. Knowing he was representing me got me through some very hopeless moments. As a former client, I believe Rob Parris is one of the best attorneys available. Through the toughest legal battle of my life, I will always be thankful that it was Rob Parris whom I chose to represent me.

This is the worst attorney I've ever met. He never gave me copies of anything he or the defendant filed. I had no idea what was happening. He misfiled then had to refile. He took forever to get things done and blamed his legal secretary. In the end he just wanted to settle fast to get quick cash for himself. He did not care about me or my case, just cash for himself. He tried to force me to sign a really bad settlement agreement. In the end it felt like he was working for the other side to try to force me to accept a bad deal. I'm filing a report against his license with the state bar association.

I found Solomon Gresen totally by accident. I needed a specific type of attorney, and did a google search of all things. I never expected without a recommendation, that I would be so fortunate to find such an amazing, high quality, experienced attorney this way. From the minute he agreed to represent me, he was professional, knowlegeable, quick to respond to my emails and/or phone calls, and geniunely believed in me and my case. I cannot stress enough how he so calmly and swiftly handled my case, and with success. I highly recommend him!!

She is the most unprofessional little person I have ever spoken to. An employee in Mindy Bish's office confirmed with me that she screams at everyone, belittles her clients, drops cases is mean etc. I personally believe Mindy Bish is emotionally and metally ill. She has major anger issues. My case was let go for long periods of time. I would call with no calls back from Stacey Cutter. I asked numerous times for my case to be settled. Stacey never contacted State Farm to ask. Stacey would text me and call me that we need to get together and discuss case. She never did. I was told by both my case is worth $100,000.00. And they dropped it? Lawyers are given scores reflecting their work. Stacey Cutter have a 6, and that is a very low score. I would never hire any Lawyer below 9.0. Always ck their reviews. I have been asking since last year for my paper files and my deposition that they are refusing to send me.6 or more months after begging for my deposition they sent me someone elese. I confirmed with Stacey Cutter office that Stacey Cutter would be bringing my paper file and my deposition with her to court. STACEY RAE CUTTER NEVER SHOWED UP TO COURT.

This is Dan Donlan responding to the prior review from "Peter" stating that I charged him and did not do anything. I have been trying to figure out who would have written this review, but the statements do not match any of my clients. The review indicates that the client hired me less than a month ago and that I have sent him two statement thus far. That is not the way I bill and I do not have any clients that have complained to me about my services or billing practices since I opened my firm three years ago. If this truly was written by a client who has issues with how I treated them, please contact me so that I can make things right.

I thought what I got for property damage was fair. But pain and suffering not even close. I was in a motorcycle accident an 80 yr. old lady coming from opposite direction turned left in front of me. She first said she didn’t see me. Then quickly changed to I gave it more gas to miss him. The speed limit changes right in this area from 45 to 35. I made the mistake of talking to her insurance. Because they said they needed to talked to me. I told them I was going 35-40 why I said that I don’t know maybe because I was just hit by a car? And I was bleeding to death internally? If I was speeding then so were the cars in front of me. The motorcycle I had was not built for speed but for going off road. I was most likely not speeding. Kind of hard to speed with a car in front of you. I hit the brakes when I seen her start to turn. She gave it more gas, but this was my fault in any way? I don’t turn if I see someone coming from opposite direction! I had 2 surgeries on right leg and still have pain in knee. You can just look at and see it’s painful. It just makes me sick to think about what this lawyer didn’t do for me. I should have went to smaller law firm. One that would actually take time to fight for me.

I just wanted to take a few moments, although words cannot express my gratitude to all involved at your firm, to say "Thank you." for helping myself and my family through our recent ordeal, following my motorcycle accident. From the initial consultation, through the property damage claims, medical claims, the pain and suffering work, and finally the recovery work, my experience with Hupy and Abraham has been as fantastic as any experience like this could be. While I wish there would have been better coverages in place for all involved, I truly feel that your firm fought as hard for me and my family as you would have had there been millions of dollars on the line. It speaks to all of your character and it made a huge difference in the outcome, and my life, as well as my family’s. Please allow me to take this one final opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart, and my family’s heart, for taking care of us in our hours of need. We know that without your efforts the scenario would have played out very differently; my bike would be long gone, we would be in financial ruin, and likely would have struggled just to keep our house. You really do strive to reach your goal of making an ordeal like this as painless as possible, while allowing your client to heal. In my case you’ve reached it, possibly eclipsed it. I have learned a lot and if I ever need you again (hopefully not, no offense!), I will not hesitate to call. I also plan to share my experiences with anyone that will listen. THANK YOU!

Rachhana was my initial and only contact during a very long legal process. She flew to another state where I was living just for a few hours in order to meet me and gather facts. She could have managed the initial interview over the phone but went the extra mile (well hundreds of miles) to make it more personal. She had to make several long trips/flights in order to gather information and complete this case. This is an attorney who is passionate about the causes/cases she fights for. Although, she was very busy she would return my calls (within reason-a day or two but I never once wondered if I or the case had been forgotten or if she would call me back), she answered all my questions and explained every development step by step. Rachhana was professional and honest. Her knowledge about multiple state and federal laws, the legal system and case process was amazing. While I am sure she had other cases to work on it never seemed as though she stopped working on my case. I truly cannot say enough about her as an attorney (exceeds all intelligence standards) or as a person (just an overall wonderful person). I have had other legal questions and while I wouldn't expect her to take time out of her busy schedule to answer just any random question, she did. I would recommend Rachhana Srey as the number one attorney to call in her area of expertise.

Based on my personal experience with Rachhana Srey at Nichols Kaster, I would unequivocally & without reservation recommend enlisting her and her firm in legal representation for all matters regarding employee rights as afforded under FLSA. Prior to contacting any law firm, I had done my own extensive research in FLSA to fully understand the extent in which my former employer had violated the law with regard to exempt & nonexempt classification. Once I was certain I had done my homework, had a thorough understanding of the law, & gathered up the requisite documentation to support a claim, I began to search for representation. I made numerous phone calls & had several meetings with law firms claiming to have extensive knowledge & experience in the area of employee rights, only to discover these so-called experts really didn’t understand nor interpret the law the way it was written. That is, however, until I spoke with Rachhana. Rachhana interviewed me over the phone & right away I felt she had a knowledge & understanding of FLSA that expanded on the research I had done & my own understanding of the law & my rights under the law. Immediately after our conversation, Rachhana set up a face to face meeting to discuss in length the potential case and its various outcomes. During the entire process of representing me & my fellow co-workers, she & her staff worked diligently to reach an out-of-court settlement with my former employer that was both fair & equitable to all parties. She is an excellent negotiator with a thorough understanding of the law that I would not only recommend, but also use again in the future if warranted.

I lost my home because he did not file an answer to the complaint that I gave him on the third day after I received it. I received a summary judgement and was unable to get it overturned. I don't know if I could have won my case but I had strong evidence and I also was unble to bring the lender to the table to negotiate a settlement. I paid him so he had no reason not to do a simple thing as answer the complaint in a timely manner or in the correct county. When I received this information from the courts, I called for two days trying to reach him and finally told him I was seeking new representation. Only after I told him he was fired did he return my calls. He never did give me a reason why he never answered the complaint.

Jake represented me in a claim I had against my brokerage firm related to an investment in a failed hedge fund whereby I lost almost all of my investment. The matter was settled through a FINRA mediation in which I received a settlement in which I recouped not all but a significant portion of my investment. I was quite pleased with the outcome and the way Jake handled the case. I have worked with quite a few attorneys in my lifetime a few of whom I would rate as excellent and many of whom were satisfactory. Jake is at the top of my list. He was very responsive to my questions, listened well and put an outstanding case together. He was easy to get a hold of and he made me feel very comfortable throughout the case. He is a real pro at doing this type of work and appeared to be well respected by the opposition. He was able to present my case in a very understandable and effective way. He did his homework and made good use of an outside expert and his partners and associates. I would not hesitate to recommend him to future clients. In fact prior to responding to this survey I did recommend him to a friend of mine with a similar type of case.

Fair legal work and expertise in all forms of benefits, health and welfare. Great option for TPAs, vendors and professionals who require legal oversight on the mild to insanely complex. I've worked in sales and in restaurants most of my young adult life. The most important rule I learned while doing so is that anything sales, anything even if it's an annuity is you're selling yourself. You might offer a service but in order to perform said service you sell your client on the idea of YOU. The ladies at reception don't seem to understand that concept at all, and if I was one of the attorneys who had those ladies as my assistants I would do some serious reevaluation. I've never been spoken to or disrespected the way I was by these women. I would highly recommend usinh any other ANY other litigation attorney.

Dear Readers, More recently I engaged Mr. Zimmerman for some simple matters that were actually quite complex. He met with me and discussed the case, the arrangement of costs and fees; while the fees and costs changed after the initial discussion; not to much but they did; he kept me informed - let me know immediately and completed the Civil work and followed up as we agreed to in the retainer. He also met with me for an admin. issue that his firm thoughtfully administered for me. He is knowledgeable, communicated very well both verbally and in writing and is fearless as is Mr. Foster. They just get to the cruxt of the matter and quickly. Expertise shows. The claim is not settled yet but again that is the other side delaying the matter. Overall I can say I am satisfied and would recommend him.

Attorney Karra Porter said she would send a gramma request to get a 911 call and other police records for our family. After a month or two I called back to follow up and her paralegal stated that they had forgot to do it due to a family emergency but that they would definitely still do it. After another month or so I called back to see if there were any updates and was not called back. Over a period of close to 4-6 months they have not returned my phone calls or voicemails. At one point the receptionist told me that Karra would call me back the next day and she did not. If they were not interested or willing to look into this I would have found another attorney. But both Karra and her paralegal said they would do this for me and they did not; or if they have done it they have not given me any updates. Due to this delay we have now passed the 1 year mark of my family member’s passing and may not be able to hold the city accountable if there was in fact any neglect of duty. I believed that Karra was sincere in her willingness to help out my family but due to either her failure to act or failure to inform us of any actions taken, she has done our family more harm than if she would have simply declined.

This lawyer left my super strong case in the hands of an intern who, completely unsupervised, made all kinds of catastrophic mistakes. He pressured me to settle before I was ready and ignored my wishes.

My young daughter was mistreated at a local hospital and she asked for my help in locating an attorney to represent her in an alleged malpractice lawsuit again the hospital and its two surgeons. After a lot of searching, we opted to retain Mr. Borison who appeared to be a very competent attorney. He agreed to take my daughter's case, and she formally retained his services. He appeared to be very professional and compassionate about my daughter's mistreatment. After gathering the medical reports and other pertinent facts, he issued a professionally written demand letter to the hospital and doctors and told us that he would have to wait for their response. After several months of no activity, he called my daughter and told her that he did not realize that CA had a two year statute of limitations for filing a medical malpractice action in the Superior Court. Further, he told her that because of not filing the action timely, that she would not be legally able to pursue further recourse against the hospital or the two surgeons. He offered no compensation or other relief to my daughter, other than to say he was sorry. I wrote Mr. Borison asking him to consider compensating her for his oversight. He never responded. We are consulting with other attorneys concerning other options now to get my daughter the compensation she so deserves for almost losing her life (according to her family doctor) at the hands of the hospital and doctors. Not understanding the statute of limitations appears to be a serious oversight. I am a licensed (by the United States Treasury) enrolled agent representing clients before tax agencies nationally and internationally. Being intimately familiar with statutes of limitation are an integral aspect of my profession. It was reasonable for my daughter and I to expect the same of Mr. Borison. Unfortunately, we were wrong in believing this. My daughter and I have spoken with other attorneys who have confirmed the statute of limitations, and affirmed that my daughter has no legal grounds to pursue recourse against the hospital or the doctors.

I called his office three separate times in one month to make an appointment with him about my case. The office administrative person kept making excuses as to why she has not talked to her employer about my case or even passed just my name and phone number to him. Even if he called me now I would decline meeting with him because of the administrative person blocking me from him. Says a lot about his office staff and him.

This place is a joke, a bunch of incompetent idiots that barely seem to have any idea what is happening in their office. Nobody knows who is actually in charge and they don't even know the terms of the contracts they wrote up.

Sent this to the attorney's office since I have been unable to contact you for 5 weeks: To whom it may concern: On May 18, 2024 I reached out to Northstar Legal Group for help consolidating my loans. My enrolled debt amounted to 31,536.14. I agreed to pay Northstar legal group 571.00 a month for their services. I was instructed to avoid answering all calls from debt collectors while a team of legal personnel would be negotiating on my behalf a settlement with them. Time progresses and I continued to pay 571.00 monthly. On 12/9/2023 a loan was taken out by Northstar Legal Group through Versara Lending for a total of 18,200.00 under my name. My payments of 571.00 a month are now being directed to Versara Lending. To this very day there has been no progress in a settlement for a loan of 22,000.00 through Lending club, a loan I enrolled with Northstar Lending Group. I am receiving multiple calls on a daily basis from debt collectors. Calls are even coming to my work- a hospital operating room control desk reserved solely for surgical matters and concerns. My credit score is completely shot. Everytime I try and reach out to Northstar Legal Group I am put on hold for over 45 minutes and am never connected to anybody. The one time someone answered the phone she pretended not to hear me. I never get replies through their Northstar portal app and never get replies via email aside from please "call us". Today August 17th 2024 I drove an hour to their office on Washington ave Minneapolis. Their website said they were open until 5pm. I could not even find an entrance to their office. I am so concerned financially. Do I continue paying 571.00 a month indefinitely? Please, please help me. Thank you so much! Sincerely Dominic Bourbeau

They don’t respond they are terrible it’s truly sad they are out here making your life harder and not easier. I’ve been calling and emailing nonstop since November no call back no email. NOTHING. They moved the office and didn’t even tell me I had to call the trustee to get an address on them. I’m literally sitting here crying because I’m tired of being on the bus with my 3 small children! They won’t return anything to help me get a car or anything! At this point I’m about to report them to EVERYONE I can until I’m done dealing with these low down lying unprofessional people! They played with the right one😃

What a Class Action Lawyer Can Do for You

A class action lawyer specializes in representing groups of individuals who have suffered similar harm or injury due to the actions of a company, organization, or government entity. These lawyers file lawsuits on behalf of a large group (the "class") of individuals, seeking compensation or relief for damages caused by things like defective products, environmental harm, consumer fraud, or employment violations. Class action lawyers are skilled in managing complex legal processes that involve numerous plaintiffs and large-scale legal claims.

If you’ve been harmed by a product, service, or corporate action that also affected many others, a class action lawyer can help you join or initiate a collective lawsuit to seek justice and compensation.

When Should I Hire a Class Action Lawyer?

You should consider hiring a class action lawyer if you and a group of people have experienced harm or damages under similar circumstances. Common scenarios include:

  • Defective products: If a product you purchased caused injury, illness, or other harm due to a defect, a class action lawyer can help you join a lawsuit against the manufacturer or retailer.
  • Consumer fraud: If a company has misled consumers through false advertising, deceptive business practices, or scams, a class action lawsuit can be filed to seek compensation on behalf of all affected customers.
  • Employment violations: If your employer has violated labor laws - such as failing to pay overtime, denying benefits, or enforcing discriminatory policies - a class action lawyer can represent a group of employees seeking justice.
  • Data breaches: If a company’s negligence led to a data breach that compromised your personal information, you may be able to join a class action lawsuit seeking compensation for the breach.
  • Environmental damage: If you or your community has been harmed by environmental hazards, such as pollution or toxic waste, a class action lawyer can file a collective lawsuit against the responsible party.
  • Unfair financial practices: If a bank, lender, or credit card company engaged in fraudulent or illegal financial practices, a class action lawyer can help a group of consumers recover losses.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process helps ensure that you meet legal deadlines and that your case is properly prepared for a potential class action lawsuit.

What Does a Class Action Lawyer Do?

A class action lawyer provides a range of legal services to represent large groups of individuals in lawsuits. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Investigating the claim: The lawyer investigates the facts of the case, including gathering evidence of harm, identifying potential plaintiffs, and determining whether a class action lawsuit is the best course of action.
  • Filing the lawsuit: The lawyer files the class action lawsuit on behalf of the named plaintiffs (the representative plaintiffs) and others who have experienced similar harm.
  • Class certification: One of the first steps in a class action is getting the court to certify the case as a class action. The lawyer will argue that the case meets the legal requirements for certification, such as the number of plaintiffs and commonality of harm.
  • Communicating with plaintiffs: Class action lawyers keep plaintiffs informed throughout the process, including notifying potential class members about the lawsuit and giving them the opportunity to join the case.
  • Negotiating settlements: Many class action lawsuits are resolved through settlements before going to trial. The lawyer will negotiate with the defendant to reach a settlement that compensates the class for their losses.
  • Representing the class in court: If the case goes to trial, the lawyer will represent the entire class, presenting evidence, questioning witnesses, and arguing for the plaintiffs.
  • Managing claims distribution: Once a settlement or verdict is reached, the lawyer helps manage the process of distributing compensation to class members, ensuring that all eligible plaintiffs receive their share of the award.

How Are Class Action Lawyers Paid?

Class action lawyers are typically paid on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if the class action lawsuit is successful. Here’s how their payment structure generally works:

  • Contingency fee: Class action lawyers usually take a percentage of the settlement or judgment as their fee. This percentage typically ranges from 25% to 40%, depending on the complexity of the case and the amount of work involved.
  • No upfront fees: You generally won’t have to pay any fees upfront. The lawyer covers the costs of the lawsuit, such as filing fees, expert witness fees, and court costs, and is reimbursed from the settlement or award.
  • Court approval of fees: In class action cases, the court must approve the lawyer’s fee to ensure that it is reasonable. This helps protect class members from paying excessive legal fees.

Always discuss fee arrangements with your lawyer at the outset to understand how much they will be paid if the lawsuit is successful.

How Much Does a Class Action Lawyer Cost?

Class action lawyers generally work on contingency, meaning they don’t get paid unless the lawsuit is successful. Here’s a breakdown of potential costs:

  • Contingency fee: Class action lawyers typically charge between 25% and 40% of the settlement or judgment. For example, if the lawsuit settles for $10 million and the lawyer’s fee is 30%, the lawyer would receive $3 million, and the remaining $7 million would be distributed to the class members.
  • Court costs and expenses: In addition to the contingency fee, the lawyer will deduct the costs associated with the lawsuit, such as court filing fees, expert witness fees, and investigation costs. These costs are usually reimbursed from the settlement or award.
  • No cost if the case is lost: If the class action lawsuit is unsuccessful, you typically won’t owe any legal fees or costs. The lawyer assumes the financial risk of the case.

It’s important to discuss potential costs and fee structures with your lawyer before the case proceeds to ensure transparency and avoid any surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Class Action Lawyer

Before hiring a class action lawyer, you should ask key questions to ensure they have the experience and skills needed to handle your case effectively. Key questions to ask include:

  1. What experience do you have with class action lawsuits?
Ensure the lawyer has a successful track record of handling class action cases, particularly in the area of law relevant to your case (e.g., consumer fraud, employment, defective products).
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Confirm that the lawyer charges a contingency fee, and ask for a detailed explanation of what percentage they charge and how expenses will be handled.
  3. What are the chances of success in my case?
Ask the lawyer for an honest assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of your case and the likelihood of certification as a class action.
  4. How long will the process take?
Class action lawsuits can take time to resolve, so ask the lawyer how long they expect the case to last, from certification to settlement or trial.
  5. Will I need to appear in court?
Ask if your participation will be required in court or whether the lawyer will handle most aspects of the case on behalf of the class.
  6. What is the expected settlement or recovery?
Ask about potential outcomes, including the expected settlement or damages, and how compensation will be distributed among class members.
  7. What happens if the case is lost?
Confirm that you won’t owe any legal fees or expenses if the case is unsuccessful.

How to Check the Credibility of a Class Action Lawyer

To ensure you are hiring a reputable class action lawyer, take the following steps to verify their credentials and experience:

  • Verify their bar status: Check with your state bar association to confirm that the lawyer is licensed to practice law and has no history of disciplinary actions.
  • Look for class action experience: Review the lawyer’s website or professional profile to ensure they specialize in class action cases and have successfully handled cases similar to yours.
  • Read client reviews and testimonials: Look for reviews on platforms like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to see what previous clients have said about the lawyer’s professionalism and success rate in class action lawsuits.
  • Ask for references: A reputable lawyer should be able to provide references from past clients who have been involved in class action cases.
  • Check for certifications or memberships: Membership in organizations like the American Association for Justice (AAJ) or specific class action sections can indicate the lawyer’s expertise in handling large-scale litigation.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To get the most out of your first consultation with a class action lawyer, it’s important to come prepared with relevant information and documents. Here’s what you should bring:

  • Details of the harm you’ve experienced: Provide a clear explanation of the harm or damages you’ve suffered, whether it’s a defective product, financial loss, or harm due to employment violations.
  • Evidence of the issue: Bring any documents, emails, receipts, contracts, or photos that support your claim. If others have experienced the same harm, gather their testimonies or contact information if possible.
  • Information about the responsible party: If you know which company, organization, or government entity is responsible, bring any information you have about them, including names, addresses, or prior legal actions.
  • Questions about the process: Prepare a list of questions about the class action process, your potential role in the lawsuit, and what you can expect in terms of outcomes and timelines.
  • Contact information for other potential class members (if available): If you know others who have been similarly affected, provide their contact information so the lawyer can assess whether they may join the class action.

By preparing thoroughly for your consultation, you can help the lawyer evaluate your case effectively and provide the best legal guidance for pursuing a class action lawsuit.
