Unfortunate events and circumstances present themselves in all of our lives. Rarely are these ever considered to be “opportune” or “timely” in respect to our needs and expectations. When the challenges and struggles do arise, as they had in my situation over 4 years ago, I could not help but to feel lost, ashamed, and abandoned by the once very happy and comfortable life that I lived. In the worst cases, these events may be compounded by the feeling of not having anyone at your side who will fight for you. It feels as if you're alone in the midst of a feverish war and not but a single man stands to face the oncoming army. This is exactly where I was when I first hired Michael McGonegal from Tanis and McGonegal Family Law to represent me in my Broomfield and Jefferson County cases. I have gone through some of the most challenging and nightmarish experiences I could ever imagine, engaging in ongoing and unwelcomed court battles with my ex spouse. As a single father working only for the peace that comes from stability and equanimity, and after having been through a long painful divorce process, I’ve been continually engaged in pleas to the court on both the egregious violations of court orders by my ex spouse and in defense against the many, disturbing accusations made against me. While only having the time to raise a daughter while trying to maintain a peaceful home and work to provide a continuous income for me and my little girl, the confusion and frustration from the ever growing legal demands became overwhelming. This is where Michael McGonegal has been a real blessing to me and my daughter. Not only does Michael take a measured and tempered approach to seemingly all situations in his purview, he also does not hesitate to shoot straight, give honest and undiluted feedback, and seeks to never set unrealistic expectations, not for wont of providing comfort or false consolation. As a man of integrity, Michael may tell you the hard truth to hear but he provides it for the critical intention of helping prevent any false sense of security about very serious matters and to help hone focus on the most actionable items available. I have been extremely grateful for the honest, direct, and empathetic approach that Michael has taken with my cases. As a client of a family legal firm, all potential engagements are extremely personal, highly sensitive and the emotional investment that's involved becomes saturated down into every pore of every court file you see. Michael seemingly understands these very important nuances to the client/attorney relationship. While being a direct and a no-nonsense legal representative, he also takes every opportunity to digest and understand the background and emotions of his clients and their cases. I often felt very alone, confused, angry, and sorrowful over the hurdles of this recent course of life involving my family and my daughter, but I always had comfort and confidence in knowing that I was getting the best attention and treatment that anyone could be provided when I was working with Michael McGonegal in my family cases out of Broomfield, CO. Hello Curtis, I originally hired Reliance Tax Group back in 2019. I had not filed several years of tax returns and knew I was going to owe a lot. RTG helped me prepare all of my outstanding returns to become current. Then came the hard part. I ended up owing more than $220,000, with no ability to pay. But RTG walked with me every step of the way by keeping the IRS off my back, creating a monthly budget and starting to pay my current year taxes. This helped me get back on track so I wasn't falling behind every year. Once I started paying my estimated taxes for the year I was in a position to negotiate.
