Erica Johnson prepared our living trust and other life planning documents (living wills, powers of attorney, etc.) in 2015, and has helped us make two changes to our plans since then. We cannot say enough wonderful things about her! Erica answered all our questions, and explained all the legalese so that we could feel comfortable, before we signed everything, that the documents she prepared were indeed helping us put the plan WE wanted into place. It's not fun to contemplate questions like "what will happen to my spouse if I'm dead or disabled?" "Who would make important decisions for us if we both are not able to do so ourselves?" "What do we want our legacy to be?" but Erica walked us through these questions and more, all in a friendly manner and with good humor. Plans are bound to change over time, and so we appreciate that Erica reaches out every three years or so to check that nothing important has changed that might necessitate an estate plan update. That's very helpful, because it's easy to forget the passing of time and not realize that YES, we DO need to tweak the plan here or there -- and when we've done so, the fees involved have been very reasonable. Finally, Erica is great in all matters of estate planning, but my wife and I appreciated that she knows SO much about planning for same-sex couples. Currently we're legally married, but if - as it has hinted it might - the Supreme Court changes the legal status of same-sex couples, we know that Erica will know exactly what to do to develop a solution that protects us and our interests. We trust her. If you have been putting off getting your "affairs" in order, or it's been a long time since you've updated your plans, definitely reach out to Erica. We cannot say enough good things about her, and now, as a result of actually HAVING a plan in place, we sleep better at night.

Way later than we should have, we retained Erica Johnson of this firm to assist us in preparing our initial wills and related documents in 2019 and to assist us in preparing two subsequent revisions and supplements to them since then. She has always been excellent in accurately reflecting our wishes in those documents, and she has been great at explaining matters that we needed additional guidance on. Her fees are reasonable. We fully anticipate calling upon her in the future if we decide that we need to make further revisions to our documents or just have questions regarding our estate generally.

Jason and Shanna at Márquez Law Firm were amazing advocates. They were sensitive to my situation, and fair but firm in the courtroom. (Exactly what I was hoping for!) Jason was very prepared and poised during the hearing and helped me to be the same. It is rare to find his level of kindness in addition to his high level of skill. I would recommend Jason to anyone who needs legal support in family matters. Jason and his legal team care about their clients and will fight for your rights!

After learning about Estate Planning during a workshop at Angel Heart, we worked with Erica on a Trust for our family. After completion, she provided very organized follow- up funding Instructions. During process, I needed help understanding a form from our financial institution, and Ms. Johnson responded rapidly, with helpful information, for answering their questions. While working with our bank on a new HELOC, they requested the first page of the actual Trust Agreement. I left message for The Practice, and received return call, before Business Hours, the next day. Not only that, but Karlene emailed me electronic forms, so I now have everything on a USB, stored securely, in a safe! David Walsh

llya lyubomirsky is a great Estate Lawyer. I found him to be extremely knowledgeable about estate planning and he really wants to make sure you have everything in place in order to protect your loved ones.
