I had the good fortune to work with Ginger on a workplace issue involving discrimination. From the first phone call Ginger showed the utmost integrity and knowledge on the subject. She was patient and engaged in hearing about the situation, very upfront about my options, and throughout the process provided clear information to help guide my decisions. Let me begin by saying that I had consulted previously with a place I found from googling "top sexual harassment lawyers" that told me I had no case (too bad for them!!). I thought I would give it another shot (believing I truly had a good case), and found Ginger here on Avvo. She gave me such a sense of relief after our first point of contact. Not only did she explain all of my options, including but not limited to the ones where she felt I could rectify my situation without a lawyer, but she did so unbiasedly. I never felt that she was trying to push me in one way or the other, and she made sure I had adequate time to think about any of my steps moving forward. After deciding on pursuing my case, she set up a two hour zoom meeting where she heard every aspect of my story. I never once felt judged, or belittled. I could tell she was thorough in asking me the types of questions in order to get information I wouldn't have even though of mentioning prior. The compilation of events was put together in an extremely professional well-written letter to the harasser. Throughout the time of negotiations, Ginger was always prompt to fill me in with any news, answer any questions I had, and always gave her honest opinion on given situations. Long story short, in about 4-5 months we reached a mutually satisfactory outcome. I could not be happier with her effectiveness and professionalism. Ginger is not only a great lawyer, but a compassionate and caring individual. She fought so hard for me and made sure I would be happy with the results. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I want to thank Attorney Tim Riemann for his professionalism and negotiation skills in working on my case. After being in a car accident and finding out the young man had no insurance, I knew it would be a challenge to re-coup any losses. I have spent months trying to understand my rights. I have contacted the EEOC, the ADA, the Job Accommodation Network, the EDD, and the CRD. All of these organizations send me back to one another. None have been able to answer my questions.

I highly recommend Zach Thal if you need help navigating an employment concern. I hired Zach and Spencer Thal to represent me in a lawsuit against my employer for gender discrimination, and I am so glad I did. They took my case to trial, and won!
Zach prepared me to be deposed by opposing counsel, and also accompanied me to the deposition. Being deposed is a very stressful and invasive process, but Zach told me what to expect and helped me stay calm. I'm so glad he was there to support me during the hours of questioning.
Zach also prepared me to be a witness for myself during the trial. He developed questions for me to answer to share my story and experience. It was very awkward to tell a jury full of strangers about the emotional pain I suffered as a result of the employment discrimination, but Zach got me through it. When I was being cross examined, he protected me by objecting to irrelevant questions, which I really appreciated.

Posting class action claims, claiming a solar company is committing fraud to sell arbitration cases that don’t require a lawyer. Contract literally states on front page they the length of contract term and being non-cancelling. They are stealing money from clients they’re not licensed to defend and know they can’t defend. Michelle not only helped me resolve an issue with my previous employer but also provided emotional support throughout the process as this was the first time in my life I was in need of legal representation. I talked with several employment attorneys before hiring Michelle to assist with my severance dispute. I ended up going with her because of a very good referral from a close friend who used her for a non-compete matter he had as an EVP. Michelle was well-versed in all aspects of executive severance and got me everything I wanted. It took awhile, but that was not her fault--there were several delays on my employer's part. Despite this, Michelle kept them on track and kept me updated. Her fees were reasonable, which I really appreciated. Could not be happier.

When I got my pregnent, my boss thought it would be OK to just fire me. Fortunately, I found Michelle and she took my case on contingency. Craig Byrnes is incredible. I found Craig after I sought legal representation after my employer presented me with a difficult situation. He was so responsive, knowledgeable, and clear in his approach to protect my interests. Craig is adept at filtering out ethical or emotional issues from legal issues, and does not waste time on futile matters. He is extremely efficient and does not sugarcoat anything. He is great at client management too, keeping me focused on the task at hand and talking sense into me when needed.
Craig was able to reach an amicable resolution with my employer to end the situation gracefully and rationally. I don't know if anyone has referred to their attorney as a knight in shining armor, but he is definitely that. I highly recommend him to anyone - you want him on your side.

Mr. Byrnes served me twice. I first met him when searching for an employment lawyer because I wanted a contract if I was to leave my job to go help prospective employer with their business. I was leaving a highly paid job and wanted both sides to be clear as to what we agreed to. Once the contract was signed and I resigned my other job, my employer refused to pay me what was agreed to in the contract. Mr. Byrnes provided excellent advice throughout the whole mess, was strategic in his approach, and was far more knowledgeable that some of the lawyers the employer hired (employer went through about 3 lawyers before finally settling). Mr. Byrnes got me a big settlement. I cannot say enough positive things about Mr. Byrnes. His professionalism is outstanding. He prepared for the case so thoroughly that no matter what opposing lawyers might throw at us, he always responded with facts and law, so they stopped arguing with him. I wouldn't want to have to be on the other side in a case he was involved with. He always told me the truth, explained the law and how judges were ruling on various points, and he listened to my concerns with great sensitivity. Anyone who has an employment law issue can do no better than turning to Craig Byrnes. Ultimately, he stood strong for me and obtained a big settlement for me.

I was originally trained as a mediator in 1992. I taught conflict management at the university level between 1995 and 2013. In the last 25 years I have participated in a supportive role in dozens of mediations. It is with that expertise in the field of conflict resolution and mediation that I give Karen Sloat 5 stars.
So many attorney mediators just do what they were trained to do in law school-- analyze the case and argue the merits. That often results in the same adversarial contest and entrenchment that gave rise to the lawsuit to begin with. Skilled mediators, like Ms. Sloat, do more than that. They identify parties needs and work to achieve outcomes that meet those needs. They approach resolution of conflict as a collaboration, rather than a zero-sum game and encourage parties to view negotiations from that perspective. These are the ways in which Karen Sloat showed us she is not just a lawyer relying on what she learned in law school, but a mediator capable of applying mediation the theory and technique to the cases in front of her. It is beyond the scope of this short review to comment on Ms. Sloat’s communication and facilitation skills, capacity for neutrality, etc. Suffice to say that if she didn’t have those in abundance too, she would not be the very capable, dedicated mediator I observed during a recent mediation.
