Mr. Redding did an outstanding job on my ex's neglect and abuse case resulting in me having 100% full custody and 100% decision making to my then 6 year old son and 5 year old daughter. He had the Guardian at Leitem apologizing in court. A littler over a year later I hired Mr. Redding again for a contempt case with my same drugged out ex. The case ended with her losing her supervised visitation rights and the Judge still ordered the original court orders regarding my ex and what she has to do to earn time and rights back. 10/10 will hire again.

The best attorney I had in my divorce case. Jesus has been very responsive, with a focus on finding solutions and resolving disputes without extensive court time or excessive fees for unneeded motions and hearings. I have already recommended me to friends who are happy with his services (I found him through a friend, his former client, also very happy with his work and rightly so).

I am 100% satisfied with the representation I have received from Don and his team. Don is organized, detailed and dedicated. I trust him completely. Don has integrity. I have witnessed attorneys who play dirty and Don is not one of them. He presents the facts, he knows the law and handles himself with dignity. We have gone to court twice and both times the outcome has been favorable to our side, Without a doubt, I have retained the best legal team around. Thank you for going above and beyond and working so hard for ME.

It was my pleasure to be represented by Brett & Heidi. Initially dealt mainly with Brett where I got my child back after a Fake DV order was filed and granted against me with weak evidence. After we finished the first hearing I got 50% custody of my child, and Heidi took over from Brett at that point. The other party does not follow our court order, and constantly lives in a where double standards is okay. Heidi is efficient in her wording to detail and highlight the issues in writing to opposing counsel, letting them know how their client is violating the court orders. Everything is properly documented with evidence of communication. Heidi is busy, I can imagine that when you're amazing at what you do you'll be in demand but she typically gets back the same day or next. I can't recommend Heidi enough, she is professional, swift, and gets the job done.

I was blown away from the moment I met Cindy and her Brother (partner) Heber. They were both very helpful and clearly passionate about their work. I saw it as a huge positive and unique bonus to have a brother and sister team working on my behalf . I continue to work directly with Cindy on my situation and she has been heaven sent. She is highly knowledgeable and up to date with any recent changes to laws or documents. (I had a previous veteran attorney who didnt "keep up with the times"). She is extremely enthusiastic and definitely cares about establishing a strong reputation for having integrity. I have been completely pleased with that diligence and attention to detail. I have recommended Moran and Moran to friends and they have had a similar experience and positive results. Thank you again Moran and Moran

Christy was very educated on all the laws that pertained to my case, she gave me the comfort I needed along with realistic expectations of the outcome. She was always available though her paralegal was rude and short often which was opposite of Ms. Brown. I would definitely recommend Christy to anyone going through any family law case.

Jennifer took on my bitter custody battle and was able to get me the custody arrangement that I had hoped for, even though it did not look promising at the beginning. She explained every step as we moved through the process, thoroughly prepared me for hearings and always gave me her honest thoughts. She empathized with my struggle and fought hard on my behalf. She proved that a loving father can actually prevail in a courtroom and has impacted two lives for the better!

Due to my pending divorce, I had interviewed five lawyers and found Victoria Rehrer to be a perfect fit. I recognized she was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. Throughout, my entire proceedings Victoria followed through on every request by the court in a timely manner. I felt relieved to have found such an outstanding lawyer. I felt extremely secure and confident throughout the proceedings. Also, Victoria secured the welfare of my two children's future. I highly recommend Victoria Rehrer to anyone who needs an excellent lawyer for both divorce and family court.

I know Jennifer Hemmer from her charity work and community leadership on behalf of the Sacramento Sports Commission, Sacramento Ballet Board, youth basketball coach, and other support of arts, culture, and sports in Sacramento. She's an absolutely stellar person, one I admire greatly. I've consulted with her on my family's legal affairs, and referred her to several friends over the years going through difficult family transitions. My experience and those of my friends is that she's handled our concerns with sound advice, sensitivity, and a cost-effective process using negotiated settlements as much as possible.

Josh handled my divorce last year, and I couldn't have been in better hands. I ended up with a great settlement! I appreciate that he advised me on ways to save money with his fees -- limiting contact to only what was necessary, making copies & organizing discovery myself, etc. While I hope I don't ever need a divorce attorney again, I would recommend him to anyone.

If you are reading this review, then you are in the same position I was. I found myself needing legal council and guidance yet I had no attorney and had to turn to the world wide web for help. My initial search led me to a female attorney that robbed me blind and cared about nothing more than the amount of money in her bank account. After financially recuperating I found Mr Rhea. What an amazing example of what the legal system is all about. With an amazing depth of knowledge into the legal process and enough foresight to plan for what our General Magistrate would want to see, we ended up not having to go past the initial hearing. For the first time in longer than I can remember, I was able to put my guard down and know that this amazing example of a true professional had my best interest in mind. Please consider Joshua Rhea for your legal council as I assure you that his clients are his number one priority!

My family used Dillon & Dillon for a few different things throughout the past decade. I met with Paul Dillon and had a case that was a little tricky. He did everything in his power to overcome any obstacles, that were in his way. Paul Dillon was reliable, pro-active, honest, patient and fearless in court. I would HIGHLY recommend him! My parents on the other hand, completed a trust with Angela Space and told me that she was very knowledgeable, caring, compassionate, and straightforward. This law firm was recommended to me and now I'm paying it forward by recommending them.

Going through a complicated and scary divorce is not an easy process. My situation was incredibly complex and difficult. I was referred to ADZ through several sources and when I met Tulin I knew I had an advocate along with the protection and guidance needed to make it through what turned out to be almost 2-years of litigation. Her strength and expertise got me through. Her staff is top notch and equally as caring. My case was a personal one, not at a corporate level. There were not millions at stake, yet I was treated as a top tier client. I realize there are a lot of lawyers to choose from. If you want someone who is willing to fight for you — to educate you — to help you gain freedom from years of verbal and emotional abuse, Tulin is the one you will want by your side. I highly recommend Tulin and ADZ when it matters.

I retained Mr. David Yuhas in August of 2013 in regards to a modification of parenting time. There were many proceedings that followed, Discovery and Disclosure, Mental Health Evaluations, counseling record review, drug testing orders, and two Hearing dates. Mr. Yuhas new exactly what to do at exactly the right time. Files where always presented to me for my review and filed properly and promptly. In the court room, his litigation was precise and professional, and a bit intimidating due to his knowledge base. The end result was Full Sole, Legal and Physical Custody of my son. I would recommend retaining Mr. Yuhas if you intend on getting the result you pay for. If I need another attorney in the future I will certainly call Mr. David Yuhas.

Jean Kim is a listener, legal scholar, and court navigator with an amazing ability to activate. Jean is not only super knowledgeable about the infinite avenues/detours of family law; Jean makes it a priority to know the facts and details of your situation like she knows the law. Why is this important? In real-time, court has so many unexpected moments; but with an attorney like Jean...It didn't matter because she was ready to activate and SHE DID! Thank you Jean and thanks to the Fernandez and Karney team for recruiting such an amazing team.

Linda and David represented me in my divorce and my only regret is that I didn't go to them sooner. After spending almost a year and thousands of dollars in legal fees with another attorney (who was highly rated), I switched to their office. Linda is very thorough, organized and efficient. She never asked me something twice and took great notes. She responded quickly on time sensitive issues. When we were nearing our settlement conference date, she worked some long evening hours to get things ready. Their office billed fairly and ethically and never nickel and dimed me. Linda was always aware that I was conscious of my costs and recommended things worth pursuing and those that were not. She and David got me a good fair settlement without trial and most importantly, helped close it relatively quickly, after my divorce had dragged on for a year and a half before I switched to them. I hope no one has to go through a divorce, but if you do, you need someone like Linda working for you.

When I thought about qualities and experience that I wanted to have in an attorney, I wanted good communication and people skills, someone with good judgement and integrity, experience, perseverance and a bit of creativity. Sounds like a full order, Nathan Gibbs took a case for me and checked off my entire list and so much more. Thank you for an exceptional experience and for caring about your clients.

Jasmine was truly a fighter for me. She was the only attorney I've worked with that didn't give up and voiced my concerns. Always diligent about her work, very responsive, and all about making her client happy. I highly recommend Jasmine with any child custody and child support issue you may be facing. I hope I never have to go back to family court, but if I do, I will come back to hire Jasmine to represent me again.

Patrick Hart represented me in my divorce and he is worth every cent! Ethically he is very correct and I appreciate that. There is no trying to twist anything but he also knows very well how to use the laws (rightfully) to your advantage. Patrick knows all judges, tons of other lawyers (since I spent many days and hours with him at the Cambridge Probate Court I know for sure!) which is very helpful to assess the situation with the other party. He was excellent in preparing me for my divorce trial and thanks to him I have full custody of my children! He is a lawyer I would fully recommend if you have a divorce with many hurdles and you need a strong, aggressive (meaning as advocating for your wants/needs) lawyer! I have been working with him for almost 2 years and he is still representing me since my drama does not end...

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
