I was represented by Jill Brofsky of this firm through a years long
divorce proceedings that involved many layers of financial discovery and ultimately went to trial. The judgment was very favorable to me, in a way that I did not anticipate when my now-former wife first petitioned for divorce.
When I first approached Jill to represent me, she upon initial consultation informed me of unforeseen favorable possibilities for settlement. Over years of discovery, depositions, motions,
and finally, a long trial, Jill brought to bear her expertise with
divorce law and the intricacies of financial settlement. Ever astute and sharp in her approach, her decisions as to what is
best to do proved right, and in fact, put my situation in a more and more favorable light. Although the entire process proved
tortuous and meandering (often because the various maneuvers that the other side attempted), I was very pleased with the outcome.
With respect to the wider firm, first, Jill brought in her
firm partner Amy Green to be present at parts of the trial and in fact to advocate my side from time to time. Through the many depositions, interrogatories, and motions, Aly Werth and Mary Bussell were very forthcoming with logistic support with
respect to the documents and exhibits to be worked out.
I felt that I was in good, competent hands, and that the wider firm was working in concert on behalf.

No one sets out to get divorced. But if you must, I 100% recommend Legband & D'Onofrio. Michelle was a great guide, giving me enough space to reach my own conclusions but pushing me when I needed it. Once the divorce was final Michelle and her team continued to guide me through the post divorce paperwork so I could truly get set up for success. Working with this attorney has been an absolute nightmare.
I spoke with her a few weeks after my divorce was finalized. My best friend had recently gone through a divorce & told me to make sure a qualified and competent attorney handled the QDROs portion of my divorce, as hers took an unreasonable amount of time. Emily was recommended by my divorce attorney. I spoke with her a few weeks after my divorce & stated to her my friend’s experience. She assured me my friend’s experience would not be the way she treated me & the process would be smooth & she had good relationships with the plan administrators where my money was invested.
Fast forward to November. I emailed Emily, as I had heard nothing from her in almost 4 months. 25 days later she responded to me. She said she would get back to me the following week. Guess what? Not a word.
1/2/20 I asked her for an update. I received no response. Getting fed up Emily was ignoring me, as well as my financial planner stating this was nonsense, I put her in charge of contacting Emily. She called multiple times and received a lot of dodging by Emily’s secretary. I then let my attorney know what was going on. 1/17/20 — the paralegal finally seems to get things moving.
2/3/20 we were told this would be wrapped up in a few weeks. Today is 3/14. That day has come and gone. Nothing has happened.
Also 3/13 I received a bill from my own attorney for $810. All the billing had to do with my attorney chasing down Emily Carrara and figuring out what was going on. I’m on a fixed income and do not have $810 just laying around for someone to chase this woman down. My own attorney stated he was disappointed in her actions.
The portion of the QDRO I was to receive as cash that was owed to me by my ex husband has probably gone down 20-30% due to the stock market tumble. I am a social worker and that money was to go toward a bachelors of nursing degree I am pursuing, to help purchase a new home so I can get my son into the high school he wishes to attend with his friends & to pay for my kids’ college. I do not know now if the money will be there to make these goals happen. Had this been finalized months ago, I would not be in this predicament & would not have lost a large portion of my life savings.
I am not a person who likes to leave negative reviews. I also always give people the benefit of the doubt. Given these circumstances I would NEVER use this attorney for any reason. She is incompetent & she will not respond to you. Please stay away from Emily Carrara.

Emily Carrara is an exceptional attorney. She exceeded by far any expectations I imagined during my divorce proceedings. Emily's knowledge and expertise is unbelievably top notch in her field and her compassion, empathy and understanding are what enabled me to 'survive' during this devastating time in my life.
Emily took the time to speak with me and made me feel like a real person whom she genuinely 'cared' about and fought for in order to obtain the best settlement possible for me. I've been working with my attorney, Jay crook at the law offices of Shryock, Crook and associates since 2008. In that time they have helped me with countless business dealings and disputes, as well as The state issues when I lost a family member. If you're looking for an attorney, here's what I'll tell you. Spending $600 an hour for a attorney in the tallest building downtown is a complete waste of money. Nearly the same skill set if not more exist in attorneys all over the state. The difference is, my attorneys overhead is minuscule compared to someone who takes an entire floor of the key Bank building. Sure, there are times when a scary law firm's name on a suit or a response helps but less than you think. I have complete confidence in the attorneys that this law firm and I've never had to worry about their expertise bankrupting me. These are people like you and me, who happened to be attorneys and are very good at what they do. Regardless of what you're looking for, criminal, business, contract, probate, family law give these guys a call and judge for yourself. I think you'll be glad that you did.

Dean Gaunt is doing a great job keeping students engaged and mingling with each other. Law school demands a lot of non-social mental work--reading, research, writing--and these events keep the classes interacting so that we get make connections and de-stress.
Our professors keep up with Dean Gaunt in their excellence. They are experienced teachers and know how to handle first year classes (extra kudos to Gajda, torts, and Gordley, contracts). So glad to have picked Tulane.
Regarding peers; there is a reputation among all law school applicants that their classmates are out to push them down the curve. I have yet to meet anyone who has been unwilling to answer a question or offer academic insight.

I had retained Renier for my case. And in over 1 yr as him being my attorney he never did anything for my case. He only took my money and wanted more money and he had not even done 1 deposition. What was the money for since he had not done anything for my case. He is someone you can't trust. He will take your money and not do anything for your case. Even my judge on the case said on the record that it was ashame that Renier hadn't done anything on the case in over 1 yr. And no supposedly he is running to be a judge. That is so laughable. Please don't hire this attorney, he is the definition of unethical , untrustworthy, unreliable and simply a bad human being .

We consulted with Ms. Hale on a case and although she appeared to have knowledge of the way the system worked and similar cases like the one we had, her follow-through and attitude left considerable room for improvement. Phoned and left numerous messages regarding rates and her eventual response would normally be days later. When her late response was questioned, there was no apology given, only defensiveness. Overall, my wife and I believe it was the best decision to respectfully decline and move to another legal alternative.

I wish my experience with Janet had been as good as everyone else posting here. Unfortunately, it was not. While she was fairly knowledgeable about my legal matter, she became quite irate when I requested an itemized invoice to submit to the court, and she wrote several emails chastising me for asking. I was very upset by her emails and asked her to stop sending them. Even though my case has been settled, Janet has persisted in sending me emails soliciting donations for various charities she is involved with even though I have asked her to stop. I will be calling the local bar association on Monday to see if they can assist me in stopping these unwanted emails.

Obviously, divorce is never easy but when I found out about the collaborative process and was given some names, I reached out and was instantly comfortable with how Candice made me feel and how professional she was. During and after our initial meeting, she made it a point to understand me and what I had been going through and the best course of action moving forward. I was happy with my initial divorce proceedings and communications with Palermo and my divorce lawyer, Ms. Riley Perry. However, after the divorce was final, the handling of the QDRO and getting my remaining retainer back has been a NIGHTMARE. I have sent countless emails and left messages that do not get any response. The QDRO was finalized in November of 2021 - I do not have a certified copy and I still do not have a refund of what is remaining on my account
