My company has worked closely with Byron for >10 years, and I can't say enough about how helpful he's been! Trucking companies like mine sometimes find themselves in interesting legal waters, and Byron has never failed to deliver, year after year and case after case. Sure, like any good attorney, he's busy; but in his uniquely responsive style, he always keeps us informed and ahead of the game. He is very knowledgeable about the current state of transportation law, and I can trust him to represent us with honesty and kindness. He makes it easy for us to focus on what we do best--trucking your stuff all over the planet!

I would recommend the services of Dominick Severance without rearvation. More so than any lawyer I have worked with, he was capable I helping me understand the larger chess board. As the song goes you need to know when to hold em and know when to fold em. Dominick was able to helped me understand how a settlement in my case was a far better approach than a hail mary case. Not only did I learn a great deal about this case but I learned in this future how to more critically analyze contracts to ensure I don't relinqhish rights if damages occur. Although I am hoping I will not have any further conflict, I will certainly reach out to Dominick Severance if I ever am in need of legal services in this arena.

I was priviledged to work with Jennifer Liotta for approximately one year. During that period she took the time to thoroughly understand the technology that I work with and the complicated concepts that I needed to use. She was always responsive and prompt and carefully and quickly explained the important legal aspects of patent law. She also provided clear legal advise for the best procedures to follow in developing our concept and product and she did an outstanding job to seek out perspective interest from potential licensing clients. In short, she knows what you are doing and how to best deal with the practical aspects of research as she acts as a bridge from academia and concepts to industry. In the 26 years that I have developed patents, Jennifer is one of the two best lawyers I have worked with.

I have known Alfredo for over a decade and worked with him many times. When I served as Director of the Legal Dept at a global tech company, we retained Alfredo repeatedly as outside counsel to assist us with patent litigation, AR collection, bankruptcy and other matters and he, and his colleagues, consistently provided us with excellent work product and outstanding client service. He knows the law, is very careful, attentive and responsive. I recommend him without reservations.

It has been two years since Greg represented my CPA firm in a merger. Looking back I still appreciate the great job he did. First of all, he made the merger happen! He is the type of attorney who is a deal-maker, not a deal-breaker. On every level he did a great job. He is an excellent negotiator but knows when to let the client make the decision. HIs draftsmanship is excellent and his advice is sound. One piece of his advice generated over $100,000 into our pockets!

Simply put; she is the best, I have to say I viewed attorneys as lower then scum of the earth, from a need for an attorney I found Alvis, Quashnock and associates what I got was an attorney that is from the highest standards, she is truly one in a million and I'm proud to say "she is my attorney" for everything, I highly recommend her, as for the firm she is with, I feel for those that don't retain them and pity those that have to sit across the table from them.

Mr. Ashley, unlike any other attorney with whom I have worked, makes himself available day or night any day of the week. Do not let his calm, good natured demeanor mislead you. He is a tough, tough, no nonsense fighter in the court room. He knows "the game" and plays his hand well. He is the eye of the storm. He has a great personality, is well liked and that plays a very big part in a case. His credentials do not show it but he has fought against very highly respected and well known attorneys in multi-million dollar court cases. In my case specifically, I would have been happy with a $1.5M settlement. I am cashing in my settlement check for $17.5M today. One of the defendants is now out of business. He actually recruited one of the attorneys on the other side to work for him! He manages people tremendously well. he sees the big picture and can calm a very explosive situation with just a couple of phone calls. Mr. Ashley is extremely under rated. Extremely.

I never thought I'd be writing a review for a lawyer, but my experience with attorney Lloyd was exceptional. Attorney Lloyd is very down to earth and made everything very easy for me to understand. He was responsive, professional, and approachable. I recommend him without hesitation. My project was done for a fixed price; I never felt like I was 'on the clock.' I've worked with other attorneys in the past and was astonished by how easy it was to rack up a large bill with small talk. I was able to ask questions and receive detailed understandable answers without worry of how much extra it would cost me.

My home was in the process of being sold and I lost my case in the trial court because the judge made bizarre rulings and would not let me hire another lawyer to replace my prior lawyer who after taking my money abandoned me. Mr. Klein took over my case and took it to the appeal court and was successful in convincing three judges to reverse the trial court decision. All efforts to foreclose and evict me have been halted! I found Mr. Klein to be dependable and caring.

I initially contacted Claire S. Fox of The Law Firm Of Fox And Fox regarding my father’s Trust after he passed away. The Trustee was refusing to provide any information about the Trust, refused to provide a copy of the Trust, refused to provide financial status of the Trust and refused to account. I was denied my rights as a beneficiary of the Trust. Claire S. Fox of The Law Firm Of Fox And Fox provided intellectual guidance and instructions. I followed and communicated with Fox over a period of months before I retained Fox. I have been a trial attorney for more than 16 years and have no experience in the Trust, Estate Planning, probate, wills and trust, and conservatorship proceedings. With Fox’ brilliance, I collected my entitled share and Fox and her partner, Frank O. Fox, were able to obtain an Order surcharging the Trustee and had the Trustee removed from the Trust. Although the procedure took over 3 years due to Trustee’s relenting adversarial position, it was well worth it. what a relief thanks to FOX

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
