I got arrested under suspicion of DUI in downtown Honolulu. The whole process was a stressful and expensive life experience. I talked to a few local attorneys and someone suggested James. I met with him and had a frank discussion on what happened and what I could expect in the coming months. His fees were in-line with some of the other attorneys. Not cheap but not outrageous, and you don’t necessarily want lowest price for something like this. Either way, I hired him as my attorney. He was well prepared the majority of the time and was very responsive. To make a year long story short. We had our ADLRO hearing and I had my license back within a week, no machine or defensive driving classes. Months of delay went on but we did our court time and ended up with my DUI being dismissed. I remember how stressful the process of selecting a lawyer was after being arrested for a DUI. Some offices I had to leave a message or make an appointment with the secretary. When I called James he answered himself, asked relevant questions, and overall left me feeling much better about the situation. After a brief meeting in person I knew I would want him representing me in court and that he'd offer the best defense possible against not only the DUI but speeding and reckless driving as well.
James never made me feel pressured and only offered useful advice. My case became very drawn out due to how the court works and I had to go in five times, sometimes only to reschedule as they ran out of time. James was always there and he always kept me informed as to whether my case would actually be dealt with, where we were in the case, and allowed me to make strategic decisions based on his explanations. James was well known and well respected in the courtroom from my experiences there and I was always happy and felt relaxed that he was representing me.
James immediately got my excessive speeding charge reduced to a traffic fine and we were debating the merits of taking the deal for the reckless charges depending on how the officer presented my driving. He also felt we could make a strong case against the DUI charges. So I was in pretty good shape even though I felt pretty rough when it first happened. However things ended even better than expected as after almost a 13 month wait James was able to get all charges dismissed with prejudice. All while I had moved away from Hawaii in the last two months to pursue a graduate program. So everything was dismissed and I never had to come back for a court date.
I will always be grateful for James and how he helped me.

After being denied 3 times for SSDI, I was scared depressed and frustrated.I had no idea what to do. I couldn't work,was in constant pain and seeing multiple drs who all agreed that I wouldn't be able to work a full time job again. At the end of my rope I decided to contact a lawyer. I called Danielle and it was the best decision I ever made. Even amoungst this pandemic of Covid-19 Danielle managed to walk me though a very overwhelming processes of a hearing. Natanyah was fantastic with my case. I hired her 15 months ago before my case even really began. She makes herself available for nearly any line of questioning at all hours of the day. She is incredibly knowledgeable, determined, and caring and it shows in her work. She took on my case passionately, diligently and aggressively worked every possible avenue she could. There was never a doubt in my mind she was doing everything within her power to give me the best possible outcome, shes a lawyer who truly cares and took on my case fighting tooth and nail as if she were in my shoes. I truly couldn't recommend her as legal counsel strong enough. She's compassionate and caring and even after 15 months has been tirelessly working to afford me the best possible outcome.
Each step of the way came with a phone call explaining what our next options were, her recommendations and handing me the reigns to choose how I'd like to proceed forward. It was comforting to have her in my corner as she helped me navigate a very difficult time for me. She worked with me on an affordable payment plan, willing to negotiate a plan.
Without getting into too many details, I fully believe my experience these last 15 months was in large part because of her. The Navy has never been kind to those in my shoes, giving way to a lot of abuse as the legal process works its way. From the start my process was largely quiet, I was afforded opportunities to take care of myself. Work a largely usual schedule and pursue avenues to seek help and live largely normal. Which is unheard of for servicemembers in my shoes. In some way or another servicemembers are harassed or given demeaning tasks. Anecdotal evidence at best, but I fully believe because I hired Natanyah so early on, and she made her presence known and my command and the Navy aware of her as my legal counsel. I was left largely alone, which was tremendous help during such a tumultuous time.
Given the opportunity, I would recommend any servicemember with even a hint of any legal trouble or even questions to seek Natanyah for counsel or to hire.

When you're dealing with things like DV and custody, the last thing you need is to be used and abused by your lawyer/firm, someone who is supposed to advocate for and care about you.
I was with this firm for about a year. I was forced to switch to 3 different lawyers and was charged each time. DO NOT go with this firm. The first lawyer I had was so cold and gave bad legal advice that ended up screwing up my case. I was with the second lawyer for about a month before they switched me again. Again, I was charged each time for each new lawyer to review my case and to meet with them to catch them up. It was traumatizing because I'm going through a custody battle and DV case so each time I had to explain again about how my soon to be ex-husband is abusing and has abused me and my children. I've also been charged even when THEY had to reschedule a meeting. It was unreal. They called me a couple hours prior and I graciously agreed. Thankfully I watched the bills because they had the nerve to charge me for that call. It seems like they are very scattered, unorganized and greedy. I acknowledge that lawyers deserve to be paid but they absolutely went too far.
One of my lawyers I had literally called me the wrong name in court multiple times. One time mispronouncing it and one time calling me someone else's name entirely. It was humiliating. She also filed papers from someone else's case with my case papers. It was a nightmare! I'm so thankful I left and I now have a lawyer who genuinely cares.

The process of setting up a trust is just that, a process, and having someone who will take the time to sit, explain, answer questions, and then answer more questions as you go through the trust setup process is really important.
Keoni spent a lot of time with us, answering questions that came up along the way, gave us the guidance we needed to make sure we thought of everything and everyone involved. He was flexible is scheduling follow up meetings, due to our very hectic work & travel schedules, it took a few weeks longer then planned, but we are not done and feel better knowing we are on the right track.

My family came to Ryan with a fairly uncommon problem. We needed his help transferring the guardianship of an adult from one state to another and also from one co-guardian to a new co-guardian. Sounds simple right? Ryan does not specialize in this type of law (I don't think many do), but he didn't bat an eye. Hands down the best decision! Once finding out I was under investigation for a misdemeanor (yet very serious) allegation, I consulted with nearly a dozen attorneys. Contacted several lawyers in Hawaii. Mr. Wong was by FAR the most responsive - he answered my first call on the second ring. He was also the easiest to talk to and the kindest. To sum up my personal experience with Steve: I was wrongfully accused of abusing my daughter by my ex and thanks to these committed individuals, I was not only exonerated of these false allegations but Steven went above and beyond to clear my name by finding crucial facts and fighting hard for me in and outside of court. During the initial consulting stages, we met several times or so to brainstorm and exchange information; I tried my best to be as thorough as possible without letting feelings come into play but in a post divorce case with my child involved, my emotions tended to come out at times. Ms. Lee was able to instinctively discern important information from the drama as we collaborated our approach to the case. She was compassionate toward the matter but when important elements of the case were needed to be brought to my attention, she did not hastily beat-around-the-bush or sugar coat it; instead, in a straight forward manner she informed me about what was at stake and the various options, if any, that could have been taken. After the initial meeting stages, she recommended that we meet with the opposing party in a pre-court settlement effort. I was definitely not in my element in that meeting, but which client really is? Ms. Lee's demeanor before and during the meeting put me at ease so I was able to think clearly. Both parties were able to settle a fair amount of issues in this meeting so the next thing was to await the court date. The court date arrived quickly and before I knew it, we were preparing to enter the courtroom. The outcome of the case achieved the end that was in my daughter's best interest. Ms. Lee had more than just knowledge of the law field, she had the ability to put this knowledge into effective action which demonstrated her wisdom of the profession.

Just to start of Jason Burks was not the first lawyer that I looked into to defend me there were several others. One of those lawyers being Mr. Tipon also on Avvo with a better review for whatever reason but he was going to charge me a minimum of 2500 without trial and with trial 7000 grand to defend me which seemed extremely steep for a disorderly. The reason I am bringing that up is because when I sat down with Mr. Burks he didn't try to beat around the bush and he said my case was extremely easy to deal with only charging me a thousand right away and another 500 for trail. So after a couple more sit downs with other lawyer I went with him the following week. Mr. Burks was extremely knowledgeable extremely attentive keeping me informed at all times. The night before my trail Mr. Burks called me, mind you it was a Sunday night, but he called to tell me that he had talked to the prosecutor and convinced him to drop the case. So in conclusion Mr. Burks got rid of all charges before even going to court only costing me a grand and if that doesn't make you employ him I don't know what will! Just fyi I'm in the military

I hired Carol Tribbey 3 times over the past 4years...First time was for family court to get life time child support for my special needs son which she worked hard on paperwork, evidence and finding father to serve (since he was hiding service) we got everything we asked for...Second times was to represent me in a child support hiring my ex falsely requested knowing that family court order states mediation first (which Carol smartly asked

After my mother passed away I needed to sell her home in Kona, and I have never bought or sold a home before - it was all new to me.
I live on the mainland, and Donna was recommended by a family friend in Kona. I spoke to her on the phone and was very impressed by her knowledge of real estate law, her professionalism, and her communication skills. We got good advice from Donna (disclosure list, etc.).
We also had her look over anything we were given, by the realtor or the escrow company, to sign. She said the forms looked pretty standard, but there were a few things she had us change - she had our best interest at heart. My husband and I agreed that paying for an attorney look things over was well worth it for our peace of mind, and fortunately Donna’s rates were very reasonable.
After escrow closed we asked Donna to apply for the HARPTA refund, and about six months later we got the entire amount!
