We are going through a parental termination/step-parent adoption case & when we talked to Cory during the consultation, he seemed like the best choice. I had a lot of anxiety through the termination portion, but he calmed my nerves assuring me we would be fine. He was always honest and upfront with me so I wouldn’t be caught off guard. During our hearing, he was amazing and very knowledgeable and he won our case! We haven’t gotten to do the adoption hearing yet, but I know when we do he will be great again!

Mr Hurst is phenomenal. Gave me quick great advice. Only law firm that didn’t beat around the bush, got me the answers I needed over 1 phone call. Cannot recommend Mr Hurst enough. Amazing service from his Assistant as well I cannot recall her name but all around a very good firm to handle Real Estate law dealings with.

Von Miller law office was outstanding!!! Top notch in my opinion. They were there every step of the way through my divorce. When I had questions or concerns they were always answer the phone or email, or get back within the hour. If you’re looking for a good attorney and one that makes you feel comfortable and is doing everything they can for you, choose Von Miller. He is really an outstanding attorney, and his secretary/right hand is just as amazing and helpful in every way possible. They’re a great team, even when I was blowing up their phone about stuff they were always so nice and helpful with everything I was going through.

This attorney may do a better job if he's just doing a personal bankruptcy for you but if you have a small business you definitely need to keep looking. I made the mistake of going to him but when things weren't going right he bailed on me and tried to make it look like I was the one that had dropped the ball. It got really hairy for a few days because his office was not communicating with me. Fortunately the Judge gave me the benefit of the doubt.

Seemed to be a normal case then Phil started singing a strange song; I'm recovering from Brain Cancer and still current on My fees, my ex pulls the trigger on her plan of divorce and Phil can't do his job anymore. If your case has a layer of color, find a better attorney. What a waste of my time that could have been avoided with a more professional attorney. If your case has no color of life to it, engage this guy.

I used to work for Mike and his wife, who is the Medicaid specialist. I was with them almost 2 years. I wouldn't recommend them. They take several vacations a year, they are not quick on getting clients work done. They have a list of VIP clients that are allowed to be put through for calls, but if you aren't on the list, the secretary will tell you "they're not available, they're on the phone, they're in a meeting". Any lie to keep them off the phone. The wife, Jeannie, consider yourself lucky if you get a return call from her. Unless you have millions of dollars, don't expect your work to be done quickly. I thought they were good people. I watered their plants at their personal home when on vacation. I have let their dog out on occasion and always did as I was asked, even if I disagreed with it. But I would not recommend them because as professional as they may appear, they're fake and don't seem to care about clients, they care about money. Which is why the clients with more money get their work done first and faster. They aren't the kind people the pretend to be. This is all truth and yes I admit, Mike "fired" me because I suffer from depression, which he knew very early on, he also illegally tricked me into taking severance pay and disqualified me from unemployment benefits and is slandering my name all over the place. These aren't good Christian people like they pretend to be, they lie, the work is crappy and slow, they won't return their phone calls, they do not care about clients. On many occasions Mike himself would say "Our practice doesn't even need clients with the 2 richest ones we have" (I won't say their names because they did nothing wrong and are kind people) but he said that many many times. Like I said, they rarely return calls and especially the more you call them to get information or express concern, the more annoyed they get and the more they ignore you on purpose. This practice is a joke.

Ive been in the legal business 17 years. If I were to need a criminal attorney, I damn sure don't want some sweet talking, hand holding attorney that isn't straight forward and honest concerning the possible outcome of my case. I want a bulldog!! I want a fighter! I don't need or want a babysitter to talk sweet and soft. I need a go getter. An attorney that will push it to the absolute limits to see his client gets a fair trial and exhausts to insure his client received the best representation possible. Also, I don't need an update or a call everyday with some useless bs. I need him working for me. That's why I hired him. Not wasting time calling or emailing with insignificant redundant information that is only wasting his time instead of focusing all his attention on his job. Plus the courts are stacked with pending cases so when Mr. Moore knows something relevant to the case he will contact you. He cares about his clients and represents each to the best of his ability. He takes his oath very seriously bcz his clients have chosen to put their trust with their life, future, well-being etc...in his care. I know I'm just now to began my first year of law school but Sam Moore You taught more than any law school will ever teach me. Represent each client always remembering the sworn oath taken. To take pride without fear and stand in front of a jury or judge knowing that's the absolute ultimate an attorney can do for his client. Thank you!! I couldn't ask for a better Mentor.

I hired Mr. Moore in 2015 and it's now 2017. The level of care I was accustomed to receiving left with the paralegal, Athena, back in the spring. Now when I call in to check on my case, Mr. Moore either doesn't take my call or flips out because I'm disturbing him. I feel like I have the right to question what's going on since I paid the old grump $5,000.00. I know my case was an uphill battle, but I would like to know someone was working for the hard earned money that was paid. The few times I've been able to catch Mr. Moore, he smells like a bottle of whiskey and is totally rude. Good or bad, I just want my case to be over.

I hired Sam Moore last year and it's now the end of August 2016, however my case is far from being over. During the initial consultation, Mr. Moore indicated that he would take care of my case quickly and efficiently, but that hasn't happened. My wife's attorney has told her that she can't get a hold of him on the phone nor are her emails or phone messages acknowledged so I know that it isn't just me that is being screwed over. I paid Mr. Moore $2500 plus fees and can't afford to hire anyone else or I would have already taken my case and bailed. The buffer between Sam and the public (his paralegal Athena) was laid off when he sold his office and I'm afraid he has gone off the deep end. Anytime I call the office Sam is very abusive, screams on the phone, and implies that I'm interrupting his afternoon schedule which I'm sure is just his nap time given his old age. Athena was the one person in that office who actually cared about what I was going through and took the time to actually listen to me when I called or dropped by. In closing, spend your hard earned dollars on some other attorney instead of an old, mean, loud drunk who smells like a brewery whether in the office or when you go to court with him. Mr. Moore is the type of attorney who gives lawyers a bad name!

I lost my job after 30 yrs of experience for taking her advice. She advertised she has family law experience. She isgay, has no experience in families and even admitted to me she had none after ruining my family by giving bogus information. Use this lawyer and you may end up screwed like I was.

I've personally only had to use 2 lawyers for my custody and Claire was the replacement to my first lawyer, and I can say without a doubt I would have preferred my first lawyer. Firstly Clair charged $6500 more for her retainer fee and fed me all sort of excuses why we would need the larger fee, to continue on with the crap shoot I provided hours of audio recording, a detailed journal of events, a handful of videos, and quite a bit of other scrapes of evidence that clearly outline my ex's failings so far as a mother (ie drug use, borderline abuse, abandonment ect) just for it all to be sweep under the rug and forgotten. The entire time my case was going on it was a struggle to even contract her, I couldn't tell you how many times I heard 'I'll call you back' but I can say I've never received a call back unless I owed them more money. All in all Clair Mehaffey charge me a total of $15000+ to get me 50/50 custody and paying child support when a had proof my ex lied about me and that she likely needs to be in jail (Again).

I hired this lawyer over a year ago to assist with my custody battle with my child. It has been the most stressful and the worse experience I've ever had with an attorney. After countless of evidence ( video, message and pictures) against the other party I have provided throughout the year along with thousands upon thousands dollars spent I ultimately feel that she never had my interests at heart. It was all about money with her and if you can pay thousands of dollars BEFORE anything gets done and IF anything get done. She did not file anything to assist with my case and my childs' welfare was in jeopardy countless times and nothing was done. She has failed to stay in contact with me and will not contact me (even after payment) about the next steps in my case or updated me when things were happening. She avoided going to court at every instance even when it was a necessary step at one point. I have continued to give her chance after chance in hopes that she will help. EACH new instance that occurs requires around a $3500 dollar retainer. So basically I am back to square one with my child in the hands of someone who is unfit, me out of thousands of dollars and an a attorney who is good for.. nothing really. I wouldn't recommend her to my worse enemy, she's HORRIBLE.

Wow. Do not even consider calling Stacey Chapman. My wife was going through a custody battle regarding her two youngest kids. She had lost them previously to her ex husbands parents in a divorce. We hired Stacey to help us get normal visitation rights so my wife could see her kids on a regular basis. We had several court dates with Stacey where the court order was only modified to give us supervised visitation. Each time we went to court Stacey seemed very unprepared for court. She didn’t even know all of the witnesses the other party had brought to court. After our previous trip to court, my wife called Stacey for weeks leaving messages with no reply from Stacey. She would not return any of our calls. Finally, just a few weeks before our final court date with the appeals judge to determine the outcome of all these efforts, Stacey set up a meeting time with my wife. Upon meeting with my wife Stacey informed her that she was dropping our case and my wife would have to find another attorney. Her reason were because there was a report the cops were called to our house. (Noise complaint from an argument, no one was arrested). Now my wife is completely screwed because we are only weeks from a final hearing and no attorney. Also I’ll mention that Stacey was paid in full. This woman should not be practicing law. She obviously has no regard for her clients, completely screwing us shortly before court. Now we have no attorney and no money to hire a new one. Thanks Stacey Chapman.

Questions? We have answers

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
