I recently had the unfortunate experience of hiring Wesley Buchanan to handle my legal matters, and it was nothing short of a nightmare. From start to finish, my interactions with this lawyer left me with a bitter taste in my mouth and a gaping hole in my wallet. First and foremost, the communication was abysmal. It seemed like pulling teeth to get any updates on my case, and when I did manage to get a response, it was often vague and unhelpful. It was as if my concerns were a mere inconvenience to this lawyer's apparently busy schedule. Furthermore, the lack of preparation and attention to detail was glaringly evident. In court, Wesley Buchanan fumbled through arguments, seemingly unacquainted with the intricacies of my case. It was painfully clear that minimal effort had been put into understanding the nuances of the legal issues at hand. To add insult to injury, the exorbitant fees charged by Wesley Buchanan were completely disproportionate to the level of service provided. I felt like I was being taken advantage of, with each bill leaving me questioning the value I was receiving in return. It became evident that this lawyer was more interested in padding their own pockets than genuinely advocating for their client. In the end, I was left with a sense of frustration, disappointment, and regret for ever entrusting my legal matters to Wesley Buchanan. I strongly advise anyone considering this lawyer to think twice and explore alternative options. There are undoubtedly more competent and client-focused legal professionals out there who can provide the service and representation that Wesley Buchanan failed to deliver. Save yourself the headache and find someone who truly cares about your case and your well-being.

Wes helped with estate planning for my mom. He handed things appropriately and quickly, as time was of the essence. It saved us a lot of headaches to know that things were in order prior to mom's death.

Todd is AWESOME!!! He always calls, emails back. He always communicated with me. He fought with all the insurance companies, hospitals, etc. I really didn’t have to do anything I got to sit back and relax and not worry about my case bc I trusted him and knew he would get me what I deserved! He got me more settlement money then what I even asked for! Would definitely recommend. 10/10. He is great.. if I ever get into another auto accident again, I will call him!

Initially I talked with Attorney Mark Willis and scheduled a next day appointment in order to retain him. Attorney Todd Willis advised Mark was out of the office and met with me to discuss all details of the automobile accident I was involved in on the prior day, in which I was not cited or at fault. Todd seemed to be thorough, attentive and trustworthy. That was not the case. Todd told me to wait until the next day for instructions on picking up a rental car. 3 days passed and he told me to wait until his paralegal obtained a police report. It took almost 3 weeks to obtain a police report in which he claimed his paralegal called on to check status daily. I made 1 call and was immediately able to retrieve it. I asked about the rental that he advised of that would be billed to The City of Cleveland after receiving the police report and his story changed again. He was adamant that the City of Cleveland law department was 3 months behind on claims and I was not going to get a rental vehicle. Then Todd explained that we could initiate a lawsuit against the city. I gave him the green light and he changed up once again. He told me that I would be cutting ahead of other clients and my case was not worth as much as theirs. Although he has a medical paralegal, I was advised to obtain my medical records. When I asked him about all the misinformation and empty promises he made, he became very defensive and told me to feel free to retain another firm. This conversation took place in the client waiting area. Very cold, defensive and unprofessional. I would advise anyone to do their research and choose a competent attorney. In my opinion, Todd lacks compassion and is unethical. Total waste of time in hiring this attorney.

Mr. Spears is an attorney who provides professional and sound counsel on the behalf of his clients. He looks out for the best interests of his clients, as he takes his job very seriously. He does not sell his clients out!!! If you need an excellent attorney, you need Ronald Scott Spears. I would hire Atty. Spears again without a second thought and will refer his services to anyone in need of sound professional counsel.

I have personally referred several people to this attorney as there was a time when he was on of the best in his field. The quality of work when Mr. Spears was representing me would charitably be described as substandard. The quality of work I have seen for those I referred to Mr. Spears was absolutely terrible. It saddens me to say this as Mr. Spears was once a shining star in his field, but I would never employ him again.

I never dealt or heard of a lawyer who doesn’t calls their clients. I feel he works against his clients vs for his clients. He needs to be investigated and grievances should start if others are facing the same issues especially for any type of criminal case. Judges shouldn’t use him again such as court appointed. So maybe he will start calling his clients back if not I am going to let everyone I know who has him come and do a review and if not represented in a fair matter report that as well. Especially waiting for months for a call back or even emails.

Hired him because of issues with landlord. He claimed he'd fill more charges against landlord who plead guilty to menacing and disorderly conduct. I had to move quickly because of this man and Brian Williams said the family of landlord had agreed to compensate me to find equitable accommodations. Seems fair to me. I've called his office a dozen times leaving messages...he won't return my calls. Perhaps he'll see this and call...but I doubt it. I hired him 6 months ago...paid what he wanted immediately...and still waiting to hear from him...

I was desperately in need of an attorney so I decided to call of Slater and Zurz. I wish I had never called because Jeffery Hawkins lost my case which should have been easy to win. He never defended me and gave into easily to other attorneys. He never fought my case and I had to continuously send thesame email over and over again and got charged because he wasnt listening to what I was saying. He was more concerned about getting paid than help me and my family. My kids were in harms way and he did nothing but try to get me out the door. Always too busy to talk. Don’t do the same mistake I did. Don't let someone like him defend you and your family because you will lose the case even though I as the mother had all the evidence and we still lost because he wasn’t defending. He was rushing out the court house so he could go on vacation. He would rather talk about Taco Bell and his family than my case and my family that he is getting paid for to defend. I am writing this review to hopefully help others before it is too late.

If you are looking for someone to F*ck your case up literally look no further. Jeff here is THAT man. Poor communication at it's finest. My initial phone interview went well with Jeff. So well I scheduled a 2nd and by the end of the 2nd I hired him. He blew so much smoke up my rear about what he could do it was unreal. When it came time to actually put those words into action he failed at an epic level. He is too interested in his own custody shannanigans with his grand child to be worried about YOUR issues. Need an appeal filed? My as well file your own... I had to file my initial appeal myself. My subsequent appeal that needed filed by Jeff was filed late which in turn got my case dismissed. After case was dismissed Jeff slapped me with a bill requesting an additional $567.00. I do not feel comfortable paying for services not properly rendered.

Hawkins decided that 8 minutes before my first divorce hearing via Skype would be a good time to learn how to set up a Skype account. He failed miserably . Being 25 minutes late didn't make the magistrate very happy and he let Hawkins know it throughout the whole hearing and it showed in his ruling. He was under prepared and over matched by opposing counsel. He basically went down in a ball of flames after being smoked by my ex's attorney. His handling of paper work was pitiful rendering it usless. Needless to say he did me more harm than good and was promptly fired. Avoid Hawkins at all costs.

This time I'm hiring a REAL lawyer. He never asked me 1 question about my case. All he cared about was me pleading guilty. He was extremely rude for no reason even tho I was being cooperative. Like I said he works for the state of Ohio. Period. DO NOT HIRE THIS FRAUD!!!

Paul is not the kind of attorney he claims to be. He works for the other side at your expense. He is very judgemental. If he don't like you then you should worry. Because all he is doing is taking your money and laughing all the way to the bank. He does not defend you even if you have proof of being innocent. He is not good at communication but what he is good at is giving you dirty looks and belittling u in court. He is very good at taking your money and doing nothing to deserve it. I'd your trying to get your child back and out of children services. You would be better off doing it alone. I had him file motion for custody and he has delayed it every time we have gone to court. It has been almost a year and I still haven't got him back.

Hi, I would absolutely not recommend Scott as a disability attorney to anyone. We have been working with him since January of 2021 and he was highly recommended for his services. He was absolutely awful!! We couldn't get him to respond to our emails for weeks, sometimes a month at a time and when he did he just apologized saying he had nothing to share. What? What professional doesn't respond back promptly to the customer he is serving to let them know where they are and what's going on, even if there's not much happening. We finally decided to fire him in October 2023 and have yet to receive our medical file back or even get an email respond to the four emails I've sent since October. Unbelievable! Do not use him if you want prompt action taken on your claim and even his assistant Michelle couldn't respond to us on his behalf. I'm not sure how he stays in business with this kind of poor service. We will find an attorney that actually wants to work and make money for us and for themselves. Extremely Disappointed. Chris

Though I had a written contract in hand for Kolligian to handle my disability case he dodged emails and phone calls for 10 months before he called me and confessed like a child that he had simply never gotten around to doing any work at all on my case. He admitted Covid was not a factor and that he could not offer a defense (that in itself doesn’t say much about an attorney). I hired a new attorney and my disability was awarded without contention, but my backpay was 10 months short because I was given a small contractual bonus that changed my disability date. The effective date is determined by the last time a person is paid by their company and Kolligian delayed my case so long that it resulted in my receiving over $15,000 less in backpay. This comment won’t be removed, evidence that it is absolutely factual.

My previous brokerage firm ripped me off. They were churning, laundering stock certificates, putting me in junk stocks, unauthorized transfers, etc. I needed a securities lawyer to investigate and possibly prosecute the broker who did this. I came to Mr. Petkovic looking for an ally in my search for justice. Instead, I got another 'shill' who refused to take my case until I first provided him with the details of my ENTIRE life/financial/job history. Mr. Petkovic gave me a questionnaire asking for my SS#, D.O.B., prior employment history. I did not provide this information. I only answered the questions that were relevant to my particular case. Mr. Petkovic said he couldn't work with me if I didn't give him my entire life history BEFORE our first interview/consultation. I have more than one brokerage account. Plus, my employment history has NOTHING to do with the fraud that was affected against ME. Why does Mr. Petkovic insist on obtaining so much personal, sensitive information with a client BEFORE he has even told you if he will accept your case? When I asked him this question he told me he couldn't 'help' me. As far as I'm concerned Mr. Petkovic might as well be working with the broker who ripped me off. That is how much I trust him.

Unfortunately, I hired Amer Cunningham & Jack Morrison in 2007 for my divorce. Divorce/Domestic relations is not an area of practice or expertise for the firm or Jack, but that didn’t stop him accepting my case. He didn’t have the experience to advise me correctly, and everything he told me to do was wrong based on conversations with actual divorce attorneys. Jack was completely incompetent in court, unprepared and he filed motions incorrectly so the judge dismissed them. I fired him after only a couple months, he then sent me a bill for around $10,000.

My experience with this law firm was a profound disappointment. I was initially quoted $1,000 for an NDA and MSA, only to receive a final bill of $3,500—a 250% surprise increase without any prior discussion. Communication was non-existent throughout the 2.5 month process, which only resulted in two generic documents that ignored all my specific requests. The lack of professionalism was striking; the final documents were so basic, they were indistinguishable from online templates. Given the unreasonable delays, inflated costs, and disregard for client needs, I advise seeking legal services elsewhere. This firm does not respect its clients' time, money, or business.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.

    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:

Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
