My parents utilized him as a lawyer. I have since called him multiple times, and he never ever calls back. I would not recommend him.

I was happy with the service my parents received in the beginning, but over the last couple of years, I have called multiple times needing a call back and have not received so much as one call back.

He represented my husband and practically made things worse in one hearing. I swear I think he must've flipped through the notes for 5 minutes before the hearing because he couldn't even keep the facts straight. what a joke.

As an attorney, he was late for court, didn't listen to what I was telling him and actually couldn't even keep the details straight and mixed them up. He is a horrible attorney and I would only recomend him to someone I wanted to see behind bars for a very long time.

Hired attorney for misdemeanor. Attorney repeatedly late for hearings, missed pertinent details in case. Performance in hearing was not worth the retainer fee.

He doesn't understand the law and what at will employment is. What kind of clown prevents people from leaving a job that is designated as at will employment? He will throw you in jail for contempt if you roll your eyes at him so please be careful.

Was in for a meeting with him over a family divorce and he puts people down, talks down to people. Very rude and disrespectful. Most unprofessional lawyer I’ve ever met. He is on a high horse because he’s a lawyer and thinks he’s above you. He will try to trick and screw you out of money if you don’t know what you’re doing so be prepared if you hire him. I would not recommend this guy as your lawyer. Complete jerk. Please be careful..!!

Mr. Beisenstein instructed me to seek a lawyer to prepare a written offer on a property that he knowingly was going to sell to his friends. So I spent all this money to prepare a document all for him to say it was already sold. I contacted him for a year about the property and he wouldn't return my call. It was only after I went into his firm that he called me back. Go with a lawyer that is not sketchy because this guy is bad news

He was to handle my divorce. He was terrible in explaining the process and was always scrambling to get caught up. He was unprepared and down right rude to me and his staff. He also ran up a huge unauthorized bill for his personal enrichment without any need . Not a good experience at all.

Upon meeting him, he appeared professional, respectful and knowledgeable. He did not complete all paperwork that was needed to split financial assets as stated in the final divorce paper documents and then accused me of not providing the information for him. He never mentioned needing anything more from me, but basically said he'd handle the rest. Beyond that, he was very demeaning. I had to call the law office to get the ball rolling after 6 months of not hearing anything from him and not receiving any documents regarding splitting assets. It wasn't even a complicated divorce case, yet it took about 3 years to complete everything. He lacked communication and was very demeaning in how he communicated to me. Yes, I'm not a lawyer and I don't know all the things that he knows. If I did, I wouldn't have hired him! I've lost all respect for him. Had he been upfront and communicated to me in an honest manner, I wouldn't have given him such a poor review. Very deceptive, he is! I hope he doesn't treat any of his other clients like he did to me!

I paid this lawyer thousands of dollars and did very little for me. He acts like he knows everything, but when I caught him making mistakes, he blamed others. He overcharged me and did not put his client first but himself.

In the very beginning of my case, Kyle seemed like he was going to be a great lawyer. He was compassionate and understanding, while at the same time very practical and straightforward with his advice. However, as my case progressed, I frequently felt like he paid little attention to it, came to meetings unprepared, rarely responded to messages, and I often had to basically remind him who I was and what we were fighting for. He asked questions that as my lawyer he should have known the answers to, barely made it to a court hearing and was clearly nervous and shaken the entire time - and didn't fight for a single thing we had discussed prior to that date. I ended up losing my case in a huge way, and in large parts I blame him for it. He did the absolute bare minimum of his job, if that, and I wish I had never hired him or given his firm my money. What a complete waste!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
