Losing your home is a horrible experience and this law firm doesn't give damn about you or your circumstances. You're doing everything to come up with the money and this law firm's fees is what will get you because they add more whenever they feel like it and whatever amount they feel like. I called and told them that I'd finally come up with all of the money and two days later they added 6,000 with only a few days for me to come up with money or lose my house. I literally collasped and I hope to never have to deal with them again.

My children were in trouble with a very toxic, verbally and physically abusive mother. She tried extortion, blackmail, and false DSS reports, and even though DSS turned around and removed custody from her temporarily, the kids were forced to go back for the time being. Lentz stepped in, and made sure the children were safe, and got a custody agreement that was MORE than I expected and VERY favorable for the children's safety. Honestly I was shocked at how good it was. Definitely recommend.

"A lawyers time and advise are his stock and trade." Unfortunately Ms Turner gives inaccurate advise. Sadly in my case we followed Ms. Turner's inaccurate advise, which ultimately led to excessive attorneys fees and "bad blood" in the family. If you are going to pay for an attorney, hired one with more experience then Ms. Turner.

I hired Ben Scales after consulting with him. Soon as i paid him money Mr Sclaes didnt do anything for me that he promised. Never filed a single motion. Ignored my phone calls and emails. Was hard to get ahold of him. Once i got indicted by the grand jury my court case moved to Seperior Court , then he tells me his job is complete and that If i wante to keep him i would owe $ 5000 fee again. Honeslty this man almost jeopardized my case. I sued him Mr. Scales and he showed up to court and claimed i was trying to get him to participate in a fraud. I couldnt believe the things he said on why he never filed a single motion. Lies.

I've worked for and and hired many attorneys over the years. Very few compare to Eric Rainey. Mr. Rainey is very knowledgeable about the law and an effective communicator who listens well and responds quickly to any questions or concerns. He always carefully considered my situation and how to specifically protect my interests. And he never made me wait days for a response to a query and always discussed all of my questions and concerns for as long as they needed to be discussed. I never felt rushed off the phone or that my concerns were not being addressed....something so common with attorneys. Mr. Rainey was so effective representing me successfully, I didn't hesitate for a moment to call him again when I needed a good attorney again. You will not go wrong contacting Mr. Rainey if you have legal issues to resolve.

Mr. Trilling was appointed to me by the court and, in my humble opinion, I'd rather have a box of bricks defend me. Our client-attorney relationship was brief as I ended up firing him and hiring an attorney out-of-pocket, but I knew I would be better off with anyone else. He was rude, insulting and overall I would not recommend him.

It's always great to work with a strong, professional woman. Jennifer is honest almost to a fault. She doesn't make empty promises and will tell it like it is, which you need to hear, whether you like it or not. She is also incredibly smart. She is an expert in family law and and it shows. She considered my feedback and would tell me how realistic it was or was not. I had no problem sharing the reins with her.

I had a difficult case as my ex took our daughter and moved to North Carolina. I am in California. I was denied visitation so I hired Jennifer. I met her once. In that consultation she informed me that although difficult I should be able to get joint 50/50 custody. Most paperwork was done through email, postal mail with notaries and legal envelopes. All in all, I was given 50/50 custody and my daughter was given residency in both states. I couldn't of asked for anything more. The relief I was given by Jennifer and her assistant Flo was tremendous. I didn't have to appear in court as it was held in North Carolina.

Attorney Jennfier Moore and I had radically different perspectives on identical situations, especially the process between quality services expected and her billing practices. Attorney Jennifer Moore takes limited responsibility for her errors; quoted me one price in the office after a consultation but took no action for almost a month. When called to task, she demanded more money before any action would be taken even though I had a receipt of payment per our agreement. Once that had been settled, she sent a draft with errors that arrived so late as to be unusable but even then, she couldn’t differentiate between me as her paying client and wrote on a binding settlement that my spouse was her client - needles to say, quite an embarrassment. When asked for a partial refund, she was adamant all services were provided: a form-letter with errors that could not be used and was thankfully never sent because of the errors and dismal formatting. A totally worthless transaction that ultimately is going to cost me significant money because of her inability to respond with efficacy or efficiency. For those wanting quality legal services, my “opinion” is go anywhere but to Jennifer Moore.

I am a 100% disabled Marine Veteran, disabled due to service-connected PTSD. I contacted Mr. Moore following the refusal by my neighborhood association to enforce noise limitation rules. He charged me $500 to write a letter to the association. The association rebuffed his letter. Paid $250 Consultation regarding saving home. Told me all the great miraculous things she could do and for a hefty retainer. Never once did she say the statute of limitations had long ran out. She just continued to brag that she worked for the foreclosing firm and had contacts and could handle the matter with ease -and not to worry anymore they would do the worrying for me. I paid the retainer. Never heard anything for 2 weeks. A foreclosure sale date was approaching -No Jane. She took the money and went on vacation. I had to file my own paperwork to stall the foreclosure. 2 weeks later I emailed Jane again (several attempts) only to learn she was leaving her own firm for another firm down the street. Why leave your own law firm? A new client she just met with -why didn't she say she was leaving the firm then? I told her to take my case with her and she refused. Why? I assume the money was spent on that vacation she took at the last minute. My husband called after I told him this news in her emails and demanded the retainer to be sent back to our account. We knew then by her actions and lack of communication she was a con artist! Now I have had to contact the Asheville PD and the State Bar about her actions and the actions of her husband. This firm ate that hefty retainer paid to them in 2 weeks. An entire court file with 200+ pages and there is nothing in the entire court file from this firm. Nothing. Stay away from Ms. Soboleski -especially at her new firm. I had contacted Ms Soboleski at her new firm about moving my case and she came back with an excuse that her new firm didn't want to handle matters in this specific county/area. I had an attorney friend call and ask if they could handle a matter for him in this same county -a call the next day informed him they'd be happy to help but for a higher fee due to travel. I do not think anything truthful has ever came out of Ms Soboleski's mouth. She is a con artist taking advantage of people in vulnerable and stressful situations trying to keep their automobiles and homes. Read the other reviews of Ms Soboleski and her firm online -I'm not the only person she had duped and used. They range all over the state of NC. Apparently they are advertising outside of Asheville NC due to the bad reputation in Buncombe Co for the treatment of clients. I was approached one day after picking up my file in the parking lot by a lady who worked there who told me several interesting things. 1 that the positive comments on the websites perfectly worded were from the Soboleski's themselves or very close friends in order to make them look professional. There are many great attorneys out there who are there to help people not use them and abuse them in a stressful and financial hardship. Stay away from Soboleski Jane and her husband -and the jr attorney with the thing growing out of her head. They are all con artists using retainers to pay their overdue bills and payroll rather than earn the money for a living. If you are already dealing with this firm -get your money out and run as far away as you can to a nonprofit agency that helps people. Mr Tom A who has posted many items online about this same firm -please call the Asheville PD and file a Police Report. I think the more cases that come in there the better our chances are to see some of our funds back.

Like many of the other reviews Mike and his paralegal almost never responds to texts, calls, or emails. When they do it is generally nonsense. Unfortunately, legal shield recommended him and other more promising attorneys were not taking clients at the time. I paid every invoice without dispute but he was never prepared as he should have been and fumbled around on nearly everything. It seems his conversation are purposely long winded and end with no action. On one court case he admitted to not reading the proposal from the other party but said I should take it. I had read it and flatly refused as it was in no way fair. I ended up with joint custody instead of weekly supervised visits which so far has lead to 100% custody of one child, no thanks to him. On another court case I did not even get confirmation he will be there it was very stressful waiting and not knowing on top of everything else. After months of no communication and another court case coming up I am forced to go it alone.

Good morning Michael E. Ciochina, I want to start by saying thank you so much for the respect, consideration, concern, and professional job you did on my son's custody case. Thank you for the excellent legal representation We could not be happier with the results of our trial. You made a very critical difference in my granddaughter's future. As a concerned Mimi I was fallen apart known the a bruise and torment my granddaughter would go through if we would not have being able to get her out of the environment she was in. Your legal counsel and positive attitude reassured us everything would be okay it was a process but thank God you where there every step of the way. The extra time and effort put forth on your behalf until the end was truly appreciated. The process was challenging, but in the end we can breath a lot better at night knowing that my granddaughter is safe and well protected. I pray that she will continue to wake up happy everyday knowing that she is truly loved and safe. Thanks again for everything you done for our family to bring this precious little girl back home. Thanks for displaying experience and skill to get the best results possible for our family. PS I don't want to leave anyone out your secretary /paralegal Tonya is awesome she was always respectful and listen when I needed someone to talk to awesome woman. I hope God continues to bless your law firm.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
