Lawyer failed to accommodate us through the whole lawsuit there was a lot of funny behavior going on showed no interest in the case no sympathy or compassion told me and my brothers and sisters that our mother weren’t worth the money that would’ve been appropriate without a question because no amount of money could give our protecter our love our everything that was taken from us at a young age we are still this day struggling with the pain trauma agony of the loss of our mom we could hardly get in touch with them after they fired the two lady’s that came to our house to discuss that our mother was killed those two women till this day we can not find once Joseph took over after firing those to case went quick and down the hill those two lady’s cried with us at our home and really cared to find out they were shortly fired after that Joseph took over the case and disrespected me and my older siblings by telling us if we took it to trial he would not represent us which was outrageous also said our mom worked two jobs but was on welfare and wasn’t worth over 500,000 even though she graduated school ,and college took care 5 kids and was carrying our baby sister till this day my baby sister from the medical malpractice case is torn and going through ptsd not only from the case but for the fraudulent attorney I’ve prayed that we receive real Justice for our mother because the feeling till this day just don’t sit right. And we all know that this case was swept under the rug . This would’ve been The biggest case in Rochester ny for the death of our mother and I will not rest till she is at peace Joseph gave our case to the state even though we were at the court house on TIME knocking on door to get in court room where the case was called early.which took away our rights to go to trial or argue the settlement number saw attorney Joseph shaking hands with state and smiling as we stood there.we are currently looking for a lawyer to reopen this case of CHRISTY LYNN BAKER and go against this lawyer

Was in contact with this attorney named Gust. Gust is a appropriate name as this man is full of HOT AIR! Was abrupt, rude and abrasive. I recommend that anyone seeking legal consult, would be better off either finding someone in a back ally or representing themselves. This man is a waste of your time and money.

Used Mr Hicks for a simple divorce..he was hired in February, emailed me in mid April to say still looking at paperwork.. October comes I get a notice I am divorced.. the date it was finalized was the day before I had an angiogram done.. I was on my ex-wife insurance and now the procedure was not covered..one call saying the process has started.. so much for hiring a lawyer to work with me.

I found Mr. Sperrazza to be completely incompetent. He made a very basic error regarding the age of support termination and even after I pointed out his error he still filed it with county wrong. After all I paid to have him create that document he did not even read it which I know because he himself stated it was an error. Then after the fact I brought this issue to his attention and he did not fix and I have had to deal with it. The whole thing was a disgrace.

Thanks to the multiple missed steps or major ball drops Mr. Andrews made on a case I hired another partner to work, I was FORCED to prematurely accept a settlement for half of what I should have received. I had to make TWO complete career changes due to a back injury, 4 yrs of excruciating pain, lose relationships, have to close my business to have my back fusion surgery and almost a year of recovery and ALL I got was $48 of $75K?? Despicable! How do Attorneys like this sleep at night??...Very well on the luxury mattress I paid for!

Yvonne Vertlieb was assigned to represent me in Family Court. She was my 3rd attorney in a 12 month period. The attorney of a friend spoke very highly of this attorney so I felt I could trust her to do the job my previous attorneys failed to do. This was not the case. Yvonne Vertlieb would not listen to anything that I had asked her to look into and because of her “advice” I was forced with the painful division of giving up my parental rights which would still allow me to see my son. She said if we went to trial I would lose and I wouldn’t see my son until his 18th birthday (he’s 5). My parents hired an attorney with the hopes of getting custody of my son to prevent the foster parents from adopting him. This woman should not be allowed to practice law, any kind of law.

She's a FAST TALKER! She invited me to her office to discuss my situation and to determine if she thought I had a case. Before we even spoke I had to pay $275, she proceeded to use our entire meeting telling or should I say selling me on how amazing she is. She told me she would take my case before ever allowing me to speak. I had 24 hrs to decide and at that time I needed to drop another $2500 to retain her. She said she won EEOC/DHR cases all the time and this was a "no brainer" and that was pretty accurate. She used her assistant who was writing my rebuttal the day before it was due and I had to correct the misinformation. She did not call in my witnesses for statements because she was sure she had a case and would get to that AFTER my hearing. Well, she showed up LATE, made an appearance, left me with her assistant and I lost the hearing....and $2775. She actually had the audacity to have her intern call me to ask me if I wanted to APPEAL the decision. For a more money of course. I DID have a case if she would have done the work.

I used Sam Puleo when I was in the process of purchasing my first home. He was absolutely amazing when everything first started. Once the loan fell through and Sam realized he could have possibly not made any money, he started ignoring me. I still have deposit money that I put in an escrow account as downpayment on the home. The mortgage fell through and I still haven't received ANY of my money back. The attorneys are supposed to be there to help EXACTLY for situations like this. He even bluntly said to me "You, know I'm not making any money off this". I told him I'd pay him for his services and any other costs if he would just help me get my deposit money back- which he should've done anyway. I can't review how knowledgeable he is. I am sure he is a very smart successful man. But this is certainly a big judge of character. I don't recommend Sam Puleo to anyone. He went from being available at all times, to never being "in the office" or having a day off everyday of the week for 3 months? I don't think so. It's been 9 months now and I have still no word on my deposit money. OH!- He did give me the contact information for the seller's attorney and said I was more than welcome to call them myself...

Your website is a big joke. All you want to post is positive remarks about attorneys. Too bad. Alot of them stink! My review was based on being a caregiver for a 12year old boy for many years. Mrs. Rutkowski was supposed to be looking out for this boys best interests. Instead she held a personal vendetta against the child's great-grandfather who has had custody of this boy for 7 years.

I felt like this lawyer was working against me and not for me. Issues that I brought to his attention were disregarded. I felt pressured into settling a case that should have not been settled, I was misinformed and given false information by this lawyer just so that we could get the case over, because it was not a big money case. (as he stated) Several times when we went to court he seemed as if it were a new case, never seemed to know what were my injuries, what the doctors were stating etc...He would sit there and not argue facts with the other lawyers, he let them have their way in court. I was almost in tears several times because I felt he did not do his job nor have my best interest in hand during court proceedings. I would never recommend this lawyer or firm.

Mosey never spent any time whatsoever on my case. Didn't read the court briefs or petitions. Sent other attorneys to represent her when she is an attorney herself ! Charged an obscene amount of money and then further increased my expenses by hiring two other attorneys to represent her in the same proceeding ! Made at least two side dealings outside of the courtroom with opposing counsel that the judge hearing the case did not know about--ended up costing me over $12,000. All around awful lawyer, who is inexplicably running to be judge in the same court ! Unbelievable !!!

I hired John to represent me in my divorce. He seemed very good at the beginning but after many court dates and repeated calls and unreturned phone calls I came to realize this guy was just telling me what I wanted to hear. He didn’t follow through on anything he said he would do and did the bare minimum to protect me and my children. Do yourself the favor and hire the attorney that costs a little more and doesn’t have their own problems to deal with.

I found this attorney to be extremely unprofessional. She did not return phone calls or emails - to the point that the opposing client's attorney thought she was no longer representing me. I did not find her to be helpful. She did manage to get my case finalized, but it was frustrating and stressful the whole time - solely because of her actions (or more often, lack of action). I also felt that her fees very unreasonable given the quality of work performed. Obviously, cases like this cannot be compares apples to apples. However, I know of a few others (in the same area) who went through divorces that were much more complicated and complex. They had their cases handled MUCH quicker, and MUCH cheaper. I would not recommend her to anyone based on my experience.

On the beautiful, sunny morning of June 5, 2022 Mr. Douglas S. Cream came over the hill in his BMW and, after seeing me in the road, accelerated his engine and sped towards me at an increasingly dangerous rate of speed. He had to slam on his brakes so hard that his tires smoked. Then he rolled down his window and yelled at me. He is untouchable as no authority would help me find justice.

Had a horrible experience here. To start, after paying $400 for an hour consultation, the attorney I was meeting with showed up more than 15 minutes late. I understood that they probably had a busy schedule, so I didn't think anything of the tardiness initially. Besides that, I felt satisfied with our conversation and was looking forward to moving on with the process. Over a week went by and I had not heard anything back from the attorney I met with, Nick Heintzman. I reached out to further inquire about the process and was told that according to his notes, he was waiting for me to get back to him. Last time I checked, when you pay a pretty substantial amount for a service, you shouldn't be the one having to initiate conversation, but maybe thats just me. Either way, after going back and forth via email a couple of times to discuss when we would communicate next, Mr. Heintzman stopped answering me and I have yet to hear back from him. It has been over a month since we had our initial consultation appointment. Huge waste of time and money while going through an already stressful time.

I share my frustration after missing my CRS due to the staff's incompetence and the consultant's lack of commitment. The team lacked knowledge about NOC codes and had no experience in PR filing. Beware of this consultant, as once you pay, it seems easy to be forgotten. Exercise caution before engaging with their services

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
