Shortly after my husband died I looked up Tim Misny's website I watched some of his videos to make sure I wouldn't be wasting his time. I then called the number on Tim Misny's website and left a message. A day or two later a woman called me back. I tried to explain to her about what happened at the nursing home while my husband was waiting for a heart valve replacement so he could breathe normal again and about them not giving him his medicines and how they kept messing with his oxygen and how he was treated and he wasn't the only one, but she started to get angry with me and told me she was a nurse and that ''they'' meaning the nursing home aren't allowed to do that they wouldn't do that and they didn't do that. So basically she called me and my dead husband liers. She wasn't there all the months this was going on. I tried to interrupt her but she got mad at me and said something about there was somebody else waiting in her office and hung up on me. If she wants to defend a bad care facility over the phone and not a potential client then fine. Tim Misny's website is all lies according to the woman that called me back. My son suggested for me to find another attorney then, so I will. I think Tim Misny needs to hire less rude and biased people. That is why I am writing this review.

3 years ago I had a massive heart attack at work, was taken by squad to a local hospital in Ravenna. I was given an asprin and sent home. Two days later I had another heart attack taken back to the same hospital and sent home. 4 weeks later another massive heart attack taken to another hospital, immediately given a transfusion 10 units, Akron SUMMA said I should not be alive. 3 weeks in ICU, to get me stable enough for surgery, Quadruple Bi-pass. Two more weeks in HLU-ICU. One year of recovery. Moderate but permanent heart damage. I get a bill for just over $12,000 from Ravenna. I called Tim, spoke to a girl that I am pretty sure works in a call center and not directly for him. In the middle of me explaining, she interrupted me, and said what do you want from him? We don't sue hospitals, or ERs. You didn't suffer any damages, so he can't make any money off of it. Then she hung up. He's a joke.

I was in an mva 2018,not seriously injured,I recovered just fine. But family hired Mr. Misny. I've never talked to him but a litigator who works for him. I was told months ago that they were about to settle. Nothing no calls and no return calls. I was told Mr. Misny would call to speak with me personally,he has yet to call. Very dissapointed to know your paying someone and you've never even spoke to them. .

Hired her at this fancy over priced law firm, paid her way too much money for her to only waste time and money. I thought she might be able to handle my very difficult case ( she assured me she was up for the task) but it turns out she was no match for my ex nor his lawyer. She crumbled and failed miserably. She was flustered during depositions, lost and often appeared clueless or unprepared in court and often got into petty email wars with the opposing counsel. She was fired after the case went no where. She should look into another career. She’s just not cut out for this.

Complete waste of money. Did nothing for bail, filed several continuations (which pretty much ensured we’d have to pay for a bondsmen), lied about dates in which he’d be available, was almost an hour late to the appearance, and we almost ended up with a worst deal then the public defender had already pretty much guaranteed before he stepped in.

In our intial meeting Sam stated that he would complete his due diligence in my case and referred to himself as a "bulldog". He made several errors in my case, confusing my information with other clients he had at the time. He would write up rough draft motions and send me content and locations that were from another case. Unfortunately, he rarely answered calls, very delayed in responding to urgent situations, asked the same questions over and over again that he should have already been privy to had he read documents provided to him. Never remembered anything that was discussed. States he is going to do something and never does it. I obtained several emails where the other attorney on the case bullied him and corrected him in how particular procedures go. And most importantly he made decisions on my case, without my authorization that benifited the other party involved and not in the best interest of my children. He is all about receiving money and not doing the work. DO NOT HIRE and if you dont have a choice..make sure you keep and conduct everyting in writing because he changes his story and lies when faced with holding accountability for not doing his due dillegence.

EXTREMELY disappointed in my representation from Ms. Khouri. She was disrespectful, highly unprofessional, and acted as if I was a burden to respond to EVEN THOUGH I AM HER CLIENT. She barley did anything with my case to get it lessened, and treated me as if she was trying to teach me a lesson. DO NOT go with Diana Khouri for representation, you will be extremely stressed out the entire time she represents you and disappointed with the results of your case.

Hired her for a simple OVI and did absolutely nothing but belittle and treat the case like we were terrible people and didn’t help us get any special privileges and had to plead guilty. So disappointed that we actually paid money to someone who made the entire process much worse all around. Don’t ever hire her, not worth the headaches.

I hired Atty Raj to handle a simple divorce; prior to hiring him everything had been agreed upon except pension distribution. He appeared to be knowledgeable in this area and he agreed it would be simple and may take 6 months to finalize. However, it took nearly 2 yrs and double the fees because Raj kept misinterpreting the pension choices and he even included that erroneous interpretation in the Separation Agreement, even after my ex's atty & pension specialist told Raj I wasn't entitled to it!! I didn't find that out until the pension fund told me, after the divorce. Ultimately I rec'd 1/4 of what Raj kept insisting I would get. In addition to that huge mistake, he and his office made many other sloppy errors (20 misspellings & typos in Sep Agr, wrong year on Judgment Entry, wording from other clients cases included in Sep Agr and also in a letter to me, etc ). For a $300/hr atty I would certainly expect perfection and did not receive anything close to it.

I am very disappointed in this counsel. I hired her to retrieve back payments from a co-lease. I met with her one time, did everything she said, and provided her with all of the documents she requested (lease, cable/internet, electric bills). She then disapeared. Would not return phone calls ever. Randomly returned emails with broken promises. I had one 3 minute phone call with her that she billed as 1.10 hours instead of .10 hours from the retainer. She said she would speak with billing and have it corrected - NEVER HAPPENED. She never even filed the case. I have another attorney now drafting a letter of demand to retrieve the remaining deposit. What a joke. She has a lot of baggage too she mentioned during our first meeting. A total "black eye" to the Thrasher firm. I've hired multiple attorneys ranging from business, to criminal, to custody, and have always had a positive experience with all of them except this one. 1 star is too many for this rating.

Mr. Slavin was good about keeping us informed, but in terms of actual work on our case, extremely poor. He spent a lot of time telling us stories about other cases. We felt we would have been better off defending ourselves. It felt like throwing money away. I will say he is nice, he will listen to you, he will show up for court every time, and he will file motions as needed. If you need more than that, look elsewhere. There seems to be no fight in him.

Beware! I had a total of three phone calls with this firm, all with different lawyers over a five month period. The first call was when I asked them to represent me and the third was in response to a letter I sent, requesting information about my claim. At the time of my phone conversation with Alan Shapiro on 9/28/23, no movement had occurred and I was unaware of any action they pursued with my case. I had never worked with a workman's comp lawyer before and I wanted to get a general understanding of the case procedures and their plan moving forward. From the onset, Alan Shapiro was irritated that I was asking questions and was replying with one word answers to my inquiries. When I asked him about the plan for my case and what a lawyer's responsibilities were to a claimant, he became very angry and hostile. He began yelling and telling me he was insulted that I questioned what he could do for me. It was unsettling and very awkward. He threatened to shut down the case and leave me to figure out the system on my own, since I had the audacity to question him. I was unable to communicate with him because he continued to interrupt and talk over me repeatedly and his hostility was formidable. In the end, I agreed with him that ending his representation was in my best interest. I suggest that if you are looking for a firm that works hard for you to receive results and treats you with professionalism, that you look elsewhere and not waste your time.

I had the displeasure of speaking with Geoffrey Shapiro. He was both rude and condescending. I explained I was not 100% familiar with the OWCP system, but my injury was severe and the resulting surgery required the fusion of three vertebrae. (for reference-very rarely will a neurosurgeon conduct a three-level fusion) He did not seem interested in the fact the operating neurosurgeon strongly disagreed with the IME report. He told me, "OWCP is not a retirement system" and made reference to my injury date as if I were on OWCP for too long. He never arrived to the point OWCP took more than one year to approve the surgery. He was smug when I addressed his rudeness and was patronizing when asking, "Then what's your question?" At this point, the only question I could muster was, "Why are you such an ****?" Find anyone else to represent you!

While exuding the professionalism of a 5 year old, "no fuss Russ" consistently missed deadlines for filings and was unable to accurately or efficiently handle several cases he worked on for me. *The only thing he was efficient with was sending a pumped up bill, which when called on it, he promptly reduced.* I wouldn't recommend him to anyone looking for an estate or elder law attorney. His communications skills are terrible - though he is good at sending a bill. The final agreement and shared parenting agreement for my divorce he did nothing but a copy and paste job - and that has led to nothing but more problem. His slow responsiveness drug the case out for two years and helped cause an enormous G. A. L. fee. The times that he could have taken action with the court he let slide by because he wasn't sure how to "read" the judge and magistrate. He should not be practicing family law.

I would be mindful of this attorney. I hired his firm to represent me in a personal injury matter back in 2010. He failed 1. to be responsive to client's requests; 2. supervised the paralegals who altered my HIPPA release form without my permission; 3. failed to have all my medical records current with regards to the case; 5. failed to show up for meetings at times scheduled; and 6. failed to take responsibility when due with regard to his actions overall when I submitted a complaint through the Supreme Court of Ohio. I was left with little in the end; having lost my apartment; 2. new motor vehicle; 3. personal property in the motor vehicle; and left to pay for outstanding medical expenses.

Never kept in contact during the time I had hired him as a lawyer, I had to constantly call him to receive updates on the proposed case. He had an attitude that he gave off as if he didn't care and made me feel as if I was bothering him anytime I tried to contact him. I felt as if I threw my money away because he ended up doing absolutely nothing to help me other then ask for more money at the end of it. Ended up contacting another lawyer who has been very helpful and seems to be a lot more knowledgable as well.

Horrible attorney! Didn’t take my case seriously. Told me that my evidence couldn’t be used. Only spoke to me twice and both times asked me the same questions about my case. Literally FORCED me to plead out. Yelled at me in the hallway while me and my fiancé was trying to tell him that I wanted to take it to trial saying “If you don’t take this plea I’m not going to represent you anymore.” Which I should have just got a new attorney. I spoke with Terry in regards to a case I wanted to hire him on. He verbally agreed to take the case and agreed on the price to do so. However, he did not provide a written agreement. Upon later following up with Terry in regards to the written agreement, Terry informed me that he decided the fee was not enough, and that he would actually charge double the original fee with no fee cap! (The original fee was capped). Upon questioning Terry as to what prompted this increase, he used a number of very vague excuses. I countered Terry's excuses by relating them to my specific case and showing him that these excuses of his did not apply to my case. At this point Terry informed me that he no longer wanted the case, and would be releasing it. Stay away from this money hungry attorney!!!

I was referred to Mark Frank. My wife was involved in 2 accidents. In both accidents. she was hit and no fault of her own. Both accidents totaled her vehicles and she and my son were both injured. Mr. Frank was representing both my wife and my son in these 2 collisions and was extremely unprofessional leaving her without proper representation and with just 2 months to find an attorney to help pay for medical bills, etc. For the first case he filed a dismissal (when he could have recovered funds to pay her medical bills) in October 22 without our knowledge. Mr. Franks had 3 years to work on these cases. My wife made repeated attempts to reach him regarding both cases in which he never returned her calls or messages for 3 months, wasting valuable time under the Ohio statutes and subsequently 5 months after that sends a letter dropping both cases and her representation altogether without any prior discussion thereof. Be very wary of trusting Mr. Franks for any legal services. Mr. Frank’s inappropriate handling of these two cases has lead to great financial despair in our family and not much recourse.

I am the beneficiary of a trust established in my father's will. The trust is administered and managed by Mr. Bright. As the beneficiary, I have made multiple requests for Mr. Bright to disclose all documents relating to my trust. As the trustee, Mr. Bright is required by law to honor my requests for disclosure. Mr. Bright has never provided me with the documents that I have requested; instead, he drafted a one-page summary of my father's will and did not cover any of the details or specifics of my trust. He ignores my emails and has not made any effort to establish a dialogue or create transparency in our relationship. At one point, Mr. Bright insinuated that he is now my father figure and that, financially, I must answer to him. I have recently made the decision to retain my own attorney because Mr. Bright has been unresponsive to my requests and has not honored my rights as a beneficiary to my father's estate.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
