I have had the exact same experience as another reviewer. As a Personal Representative I hired Carl to represent myself and the estate. He has repeatedly failed to act timely, gone months without doing anything and does not respond to emails or phone calls from me as his client. It is beyond my understanding, he is has a lot of knowledge but it does no good at all because he clearly doesn't care about representing his client. My advice is to find someone else, after 10 months and a very simple estate not being settled I am going to have to fire him and get a new attorney.

I was working with David for quite some time before I became completely frustrated because of his lack of responses and complete disregard for showing up to meetings. At first he seemed very professional, and we were able to communicate the claims being made almost efficiently. He slowly progressed to the point to where he was not responsive at all. On three separate occasions we made meetings in which he not only cancelled at the last minute, but he never called or contacted us letting us know that he can't make it. The first time he didn't even pick up his phone when called during the meeting. The second and third time, he pretended like the meeting was never made in the first place, when we have emails stating the exact opposite. We have proof of confirmed meetings, and he denies it was suppose to happen. I would not recommend this lawyer to anyone. He will waste your money and NOT get the job done.

She and her staff failed to keep all of us informed of important actions. They have spent years closing the estate. She outsourced some work to another firm at even more costs. The estate was a "three month to four months tops" issue. They went over two years. Once they got their big payday (we have yet to get ours) they completely ignored and avoided all attempts to move the settlements forward. They left the estate/trust incomplete and became antagonistic when asked about promises made but not delivered. Their billable hours are exorbitant too.

I have filed a formal complaint against this firm with the Colorado Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel. At first Mr Hutchins said he could help me but he needed the $2,000 retainer before he could say anything to me. After I paid the retainer, I never received any substantive advice or direction from Mr Hutchins, but somehow they came up with almost $2,500 of fees. It has been almost 2 months and they will not return emails or calls. I even got a revised statement with an additional $1,200 of fees from the initial statement. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS ATTORNEY!

Diane will charge you as if she's an experienced, NYC lawyer but she's never had competent counsel review her work as a junior practitioner so her error prone legal thinking leaves much to be desired at trial. I've now used her twice and her legal arguments both times have missed salient issues or she dismissed those issues as unimportant which ended up crucifying me when we were up against more competent counsel that understood the law much more clearly. You could hire her to bluff but if you ever needed to go to trial, make sure you get your legal arguments supported from someone else because you're likely to lose if you trust her legal judgment.

I’ve worked across this attorney and he was so incredibly unprofessional I felt compelled to warn others. Cursing, screaming, ignoring phone calls. Hopefully this is not what people look for in a lawyer. He even threatened to fight me lmao.

I hired Michael to put together a will and trust several years ago. He assured me his fees to do the work would cover any changes in the future. He specifically mentioned that a change in marital status would be covered. The reason I give him a low rating is that he did not keep his promise. Several years later after getting married, he wanted to charge me full price to modify my will and trust. While I’m unsure if this is industry standard, it is irrelevant as he baited me with the promise of a comprehensive package. He specifically explained that the initial fee was high because it was a one time, lifetime fee. The last thing I want when hiring an estate attorney is to be taken advantage of after I’m essentially “locked in”. I spoke directly to Mr Meurer about this and he said he’d “cut me a deal” for the misunderstanding - which after comparing to other attorneys was more than double what they charged. Very frustrating. Stay away from this operation!

Paid him alot of money to review docs, maintain corporate records, just to find out he substituted the service out to a third party with little or no knowledge of how the legal matter should be handled. He would not take responsibility of managing the cases eventhough the client was not satisfied with the unqualified substituted legal service. Upon dispute, he extorted the client by not returning the corporate records until his exagerrated invoice was paid. Client sent the matter to the Ca Bar 2 times before he admitted illegally taking his client's corporate records.

I ended up with this lawyer only because everyone else at the law firm was busy, so they wanted to fob her off on me. I should have known right then to go somewhere else. Joanne Herlihy did not seem to understand either the law or courtroom procedure, and the other lawyers in the case had no respect for her. Eventually I had to pay to settle the case and stop the bleeding, though if I had had a good lawyer I probably would have won. What a disaster.

My major complaints with this attorney and firm are: Lack of responsiveness to emails or voice mails, took many days to respond to a simple question. Lack of preparedness for hearing. I was not brief or prepared that I would be questioned during my hearing, but I was. She argued a stance that had no legal validation, and had not researched it. Privacy broken when interns were brought into my case on two different occasion. (the first time I said yes, not knowing they were high school students that went to my son's school). Billing - 4 weeks after firing this attorney I still can't receive an invoice or a refund for the services not rendered.

I can not say how absolutely disgusted I am with attorney Dan Bonifazi. He was at a previous firm and had worked on two companies I am managing partner of. First off he had two scheduled meetings with me, one of them he just stood me up. The second one he canceled last minute. But here’s the kicker, he VIOLATED trust account laws. He worked 2.5 hours on one of my company’s issues and wrote himself a $5000 check out of that account when he left his previous firm. He dropped the ball on many things. Please head the warning, STAY AWAY!!!!!! I will now have to take my time and file appropriate grievances to get the company’s money back. This not only costs money but costs time and could cause a deal to be held up.

Mr. Reisch was appointed to be my felony defense counsel in 2017. He knowingly refused to properly investigate the evidence and I was falsely convicted and given the maximum sentence. He had done such a poor job of defending me that he had to try and rely on jury nullification in his closing arguments. The State Parole Board stated on the record that they do not believe that I committed the crime I was convicted of (Colorado parole hearing tape 814847) and after reviewing my case they could not tell how or why I had been found guilty; had they seen Mr. Reish's abhorrent courtroom performance they wouldn't have to wonder.

Iwashco was hired to handle a small estate of less than $200,000.00. Rather than represent all heirs she aggressively represented the young and inexperienced personal representative against the other heirs. Final legal fee was nearly $40,000.00 when it could have been handled for $1,500.00. She did a terrible disservice to our family and accomplished nothing except to balloon her fees, also costing us heirs another $40,000.00 in outdide representation.

Really cant review without revealing details, but "poor" across the board should be sufficient--if "horrific" was an option, I'd had selected that. He was my court appointed attorney, IF he gets assigned you--you need to tell the courts you want him fired "conflict of interest"...trust me, HIS interests are his focus, NOT yours:/ With that said, also know, pretty much on any attorney, you will not "find any reportings of misconduct", and so, if ever do, run even faster! Attorneys are VERY protected in the process of filing a complaint with the attorney regulation counsel, yet I still encourage people to 'attempt' to speak up!

Ms Roche was hired to do a CFI investigation as part of my divorce. Ms Roche issued a final product that seems to show her bias towards the mother as a second investigation was completed by another CFI investigator and a completely different conclusion about the mother and the child's best interest was reached. As part of the process, Ms. Roche provided her workpapers/notes. The quality of her workpapers/notes was on par with a D- high school student. It took asking Ms Roche three times if what she provided was complete because it was obvious there had to be more workpapers/notes she was not providing. It appears Ms. Roche ultimately never did completely provide the workpaper/notes she was requested to provide. My attorney said in his experience, he had never seen something so unprofessional as workpapers/notes go. Ms. Roche routinely missed deadlines and had always had excuses. I would not recommend Ms Roche is hired in any circumstances and especially if it is part of a CFI investigation.

This attorney actually advised me to sign a plea agreement without researching or reviewing alleged search warrants and doing NO backround on the investigating agent. Imagine what would not have happened to me if he only called the court for certified copy of said warrants. Or looked online as to the backround of the agent. He would have discovered as I did that there are no warrents registered in my case and the agent is a fraud. HE ACTUALLY HAD ME SIGN A PLEA WITHOUT EVER SEEING THE EVIDENCE. I not him discovered this and more on my own. I tried to revoke my plea but the damage was done. He got what he could and qhwn there was no more he rushed me out the door. Stay away if you value your freedom and your money!

This business is an agent of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. On September 11, 2021 it will be 20 years since the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia committed an act of war against America, Our leaders have not only covered up Saudi involvement in 9/11, they call the Saudis allies, enable their financing of subversive Islamist entities in the US and elsewhere, aid in the Saudi-led war in Yemen, stifling and violent oppression of their own people, election meddling, military aid and even transfers of sensitive technology, including nuclear technology. Much of the blame for this outrageous situation falls on the army of politically connected law firms and public relations firms that lobby for Saudi interests, trading filthy Saudi money for the freedom and safety of future generations. Of course these firms do not advertise their representation of the Saudis, playing the role of respected organizations instead of shills for the nation that attempted to deliver a deathblow to America and now seek ever greater infiltration and influence in the government and media. On this 20th anniversary of 9/11 it is far past time to call attention to these firms, an effort to shame these traitors to whom Saudi money trumps the futures of their children and the nation.

We have needed lawyers for various things throughout the years, but Marte Timmers is by far the worst lawyer that we have ever hired. In five months she was never prepared for a single meeting, she did not know the details of the case, constantly referred to another lawyer who was not well versed in family law, and she forced unqualified people into the mix. Marte's involvement was detrimental to our case, it has been years and tens of thousands of dollars to repair the damage that her ineptitude has wrought. Avoid her and her firm at all costs.

I hired Marie Lowe in February 2013, so I could obtain a K1 visa for my fiancee in Cambodia. Unfortunately, I only vised my fiancee once before filing for the petition. I learned later that I lacked adequate evidence to present a strong case to the consulete. This was never explained to me by Marie Lowes. Upon learning of my fiancee's interview date...it was time to do a "mock" interview to prepare. It was five minutes of preparing my future wife for the interview of her life. obviously, the visa was not granted. I would advise anyone looking for a immigration lawyer to seek out someone else! Exspecially if you are getting a Marriage or Fiancee visa. Ms. Lowe stated. "I do not remember the last time I had a visa denied", after the visa was not granted. Really...she does not remember? It just happend. I really wish I would have done more research, before I hired Marie Lowe. If I had, my Fiancee would be here with me right now. Now I am back to square one!!

I have worked with 4 lawyers over my time so I am not new to the legal realm. Rick represented me in family court. While he is knowledgeable, he will defer nearly all work to two people under him, in the end costing you $400-600/hr, not the $350 he leads you to believe. When said and done you will be given poor legal advice from his associates as he himself is hard to find. They will over communicate with not only you but opposing council then over charge you at every turn. Lastly, he will file motions without your approval. When instructed NOT to file he will do so, claiming it's not in your best interest, only prolonging your case and increasing his fees. Steer clear of Rick and his associates.

If you are given miss Prins as your public defender i strongly suggest you consider trying to find a private lawyer to defend you. I tried to contact her for many weeks and she did not respond because she didn't think I was her client because she didn't know how my last name was pronounced. During our one conversation she tried to convince me that we probably would not win at trial and I should accept a terrible plea bargain. This being case in which it is clear that I was innocent. I myself retained a different lawyer and did not proceed trusting that my best interest was being considered.

Words can’t describe how disappointed we are with the practices of this Judge! Because of her dereliction of duty, she has ignored 76 pages of CFI reports, and she has put my daughter's life in danger. She is not a person much less a qualified judge. She disregards the lives of people and the hard work of investigators who serve the public. My daughter's life is in danger because she was to lazy to read CFI reports and my daughter's school and friends' letters. Everyone wants my daughter to come back home, but this unqualified judge just send my daughter to a absiver's hand. I will be following up with more disputes shortly.. Shame on you judge!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
