I am being sued by an intermediate of a creditor I paid. After a year and a half of defending myself to through the courts against the likes of a billion dollar company that has been found guilty of defrauding customers through oversight agencies already, I thought this was a slam dunk case.
The judge must have forgot to eat his Wheaties it seems because things didn't play out that well. This is the same judge that threw a victim of partner abuse in jail because her abuser was one of his lawyer/church buddies. Yes, I will likely be writing a screenplay about this.
So I called this law firm hoping for help. They were trying to push me into something rapidly that would harm me. After the trauma I just went through with the legal system, this certainly wasn't appreciated. They even had the nerve to ask for a review that same day! YIKES. Well today is the day I deliver on that review.
They then put you into an email and text communication sequence. Telling you they will always be there for you, but when you try to get answers, they leave you hanging without answers.
If you want a lawyer that promises much and delivers much less, I believe this may be the perfect firm for you. If you want someone that lives up to their salt, you will need to keep looking. And so I will because I must. If you know of a good lawyer 🙃 please let me know. I really could use one right now it seems.

While we did win our case, even if we lost, I’d still be giving 5-stars. Mr. Williams helped my 80+ year old father and our family with a Civil Domestic Violence case in Durham County against his X-girlfriend. Mr. Williams set expectations from the beginning that we have a high probability to win our case, but it won’t be easy and there is no guarantee as the defense may provide strong evidence as well. Part of our success is ensuring Mr. Williams has all critical evidence like videos, police reports, emails, time-lines, viable witnesses…etc. Don’t assume your attorney is going to do all the work, you need to be an active participant in organizing the evidence for him. Our court case date was rescheduled about 4 times because the court was too busy to hear our case, but after 6 months of waiting, we finally got our day in court. Mr. Williams is professional, personable and most importantly knowledgeable at conveying interpretation of the law. During our trial he was tactical introducing evidence. He did a great job conducting cross with witnesses the defense had and he was able to extract information that was beneficial to our case. He hadn’t previously asked for the defense to pay legal fees in other DVPO cases, but we were successful in this request with the judge.
This is actually the second DVPO case we’ve brought to the court this year, but our first attorney just didn’t have the “fight” we were looking for. Mr. Williams embraced that “fight” we wanted. Someone that was passionate and didn’t throw his hands up when things got tough or complex. He thought critically and creatively in presenting and justifying our case. Preparing for a trial is one skill, but thinking on the fly during a trial and having the nimbleness to adapt is a crucial skill that Mr. Williams excelled at.
Lastly, the efficiency of his office was also great! His office staff is friendly and great at communicating with upcoming court dates or other information they may need. His office staff often met us at court for the first 15-30minutes while court was getting in session and Mr. Williams was in route. Great organization and support from his office.

I was referred to Mr. Ross by another attorney I know in Greensboro. I left a message for him to call me. He returned the call within TWO HOURS, he listened patiently and was extremely polite and empathetic. I hired Howard to represent me in a traffic case in Durham County. The initial charge was G.S. 20-141(j1), and we were able to enter a plea of responsible to G.S. 20-123.2 (improper equipment) with no required conditions. This is the best possible outcome for a speeding ticket in NC, as it is a non-moving infraction that has no insurance impact, no points, and no per-policy limits or out-of-state issues like a PJC.
Howard was able to effectively present my case, clean driving record, and letter to the court to the DA's office to obtain this plea deal. It is essential to have a lawyer who knows the local DAs and is willing to put in the time to continue the case to a date with the most favorable DA/district judge. Howard was able to obtain an improper equipment in my case even though it was outside of the usual guidelines for this county, and without a requirement of traffic school. Despite staffing changes in the DA's office, Howard was able to adapt and get a strong deal even with a brand new DA.
Howard appeared around four times in court all for a flat fee that was about equal to the cost of the ticket. It took about five months in total to resolve the case, and I did not have to appear in court at all. Most speeding tickets are going to cost $250-350 in fines/costs. The question is what will happen to your driving record and insurance rates. That is where paying Howard a few hundred dollars is well worth it. Defense lawyers know the DAs and they have a professional rapport with them. I thought about going to court myself, but even though I had a good idea of the laws, I wouldn't have known the people and procedures to expect in this county. Howard knows exactly what to expect and how to best present the case to the DAs.
Howard never routes calls or texts to a secretary--some of the lawyers I contacted, and many that sent advertisements in the mail, did not even let you talk to a lawyer before hiring them. Howard gave a lengthy phone consultation at no charge and was in no hurry. Howard will ask to see your citation and driving record before giving a flat fee quote for the case. If available for your case, you'll also have to fill out a waiver of appearance form if you do not want to appear in court each time yourself.
I actually found Howard by chance by looking at the bar directory, and he was a bit surprised as he does not do any advertising. If you've come across this listing I would definitely recommend giving him a call. I think it's best to call a few different lawyers as I did, and choose who you feel most comfortable trusting your case with. Cross out anyone who doesn't give a real consultation or pushes you to decide right away. Whatever you decide to do, Howard will give you a consultation and put you at ease regarding your case. As a local college student, Howard provided a service that was affordable to me and well worth the money.

Hi Allyn,
I'm not sure if you remember me, but you were my public defender for a marijuana possession charge in Greensboro about four years ago. I just celebrated four years of sobriety a few weeks ago and thought that I should take some time this Thanksgiving to show my gratitude for the people who helped get me where I am today. When I met you I was in a horrible place in my life. I was barely employable, drinking every day, estranged from my family and had no future or hope. You very graciously took a strong interest in my case and helped me get a deferred judgement for my charges. However, even though I had a felony looming over my head, I violated my probation and appeared in court drunk for my probation violation hearing. My actions certainly didn't deserve any special treatment, but for some reason you didn't give up on me and helped me to find a way into a rehab. Since then my life has had some ups and downs, but drugs, alcohol and crime no longer have any influence on my life. I've moved to Charlotte for a decent job with an engineering firm, done much to repair my relationship with my family, I no longer have any substantial debt, and lived to tell my story to many people suffering from the problems that used to plague my life. There are many people who have helped me along the way but none as selflessly as the way you helped me. I am at a loss to fully express my gratitude. I retained Ms. Nicholson's services last month after receiving a traffic ticket in Durham. It was the first citation I had received, and so was uncertain as to how to proceed. Ms. Nicholson, her partner, and the rest of her staff were all very professional and answered all of the questions I had. They put me at ease, and I worried much less about the situation after our conversations.
Ms. Nicholson was able to get the traffic case dismissed in this specific instance, and I could not have been more happy with the outcome. However, even if the result had been different, I would still recommend her firm due to her professionalism and transparency throughout the process.

I recieved a letter from the DMV in relation to an incident with my monitech device. I got the letter for DMV court on Monday and called Meredith the same day and she made time to have a meeting with me that same day as well as go to the hearing with me that Friday. She was amazing I was so frazzled About goin to a DMV hearing.
