Dan Rathbun and Dave Bateman represented me in a partition matter.
Dan and Dave were experts in setting my expectations and providing insights on the most likely outcomes. My questions were responded to quickly and thoroughly using language and examples I could understand. I usually don't go on platforms to submit reviews but I felt that it was critical that I share my positive experience that I have had with Sara. I hired her several months ago for child custody, visitation and relocation matters. First and foremost, her legal advice and experience lended her the ability to surpass all other lawyers I consulted prior to hiring her. Her professionalism was beyond many and she had an unwavering representation of my interests even though my case presented major difficulties as it was a hard case both on the legal and moral standpoint. I appreciated her judgement and ability to organize the important overall objectives, always ensuring we stayed on course. She was always honest and open - she never tried to give me a false sense of hope or down played some hard realties. But she was still understanding and listened. I consulted with four lawyers (at different firms) until I settled on Sara Schuler. I even retained one from a fancy big name firm for a while, but ultimately went back to her. Since my case ultimately went to trial, with a large firm on the other side, and because we won on every issue, I can't express I grateful I am that I had ultimately chose Sara.
When I first consulted with Sara, what struck me is how precise and accurate she is. This is not what I got with the other lawyers, who made egregious misstatements about the law in their conversations with me. For example, a lawyer at a different (and well-known) firm told me, “well, the court doesn’t care about your contributions to the marriage,” when I told her I would like the marital assets to split according to our contributions. In fact, the Virginia statute explicitly requires that the court consider the “contributions, monetary and nonmonetary, of each party to the well-being of the family.” Sara never made any such errors in speaking with me, or in speaking to the court.
This precision and accuracy are essential in the unfortunate case that you go to court. The trial was like an enormous fact checking exercise, involving thousands of pages of documents. Our credible presentation of the facts was central to our trial win. In contrast, mistakes, mis-statements, and being loose with the facts seemed to sink the other side.
Related to her precision and accuracy, I felt I could trust Sara. Lawyers seem to care very much about their reputation in the legal community, much more so than they care about the outcome of your particular case. The other lawyers I consulted with tried to badger me into settling for an inequitable division rather than risk their reputations in a court room. Not that Sara was at all eager to go to court---she was also very reluctant, but at least she didn’t lie to me to try to get me to do what’s best for her career. Lawyers at some other (big name) law firms did.
The whole pre-trial thing, and hopefully that’s the whole thing for you, that’s all very stressful too, and I was glad I had a lawyer I could trust for that part of it.

Sara understands federal government employees' unique situation, particularly those amongst us who initiate the separation/divorce process from overseas. She represented me in court, mediation, and in direct communication with the opposing party.
Sara runs her own practice and takes the time to know her clients and cases, she is always prepared for situations as they arise. She provides a personalized service to her clients and she always has had time for me when I had unexpected legal needs, including once while she was on vacation. I’d recommend Sara to anyone considering or determined to divorce.

I hired I hired Mirham at S&R after consulting with over a dozen firms in the area. She and the firm were the only ones that did not insult other firms and followed up immediately. After my first telephone conversation with her I was sure I wanted her representing me in court.
Mirham represented me in Stafford County District Court for a misdemeanor Reckless Driving Charge. Going into court I was confident she would be able to get the charges reduced, even though I had a less than perfect driving record. She was able to get the charges reduced to a very small fine.

First off i need to say THANK YOU to Mirham , for helping me with my custody battle for my 1 year old daughter let me just say when a father trys to battle a mother all odds are against you and chances are one in a million to win in most cases every lawyer i called pretty much just told they can get me visitation and help put me on child support but i knew i had a case and i wouldnt settle for that and i was desperate cause i havent seen my daughter in months and i saw S&R Law firm and i gave them a try and Mirham Yacoubs answer the phone and we spoke for almost an hour and with all the proof i show her she took on my case and did not give up on me or my daughter months went by and she worked really hard for me until feb 18 2016 she help me win temperature joint physical custody and i was able to see my little girl again ill never forget that feeling and enjoy mirham was able to bring to me that day it was an emotional day for me and still at that she went against my wife law firm who claims that they are better which i cant lie they have more of the experience in case like this and right when i thought we lost mirham pulled the win for me she took my case personal now im proud to say thanks to mirham & s&r law firm i now have primary physical custody of my daughter. Outstanding attention to the full history, context and details of the matter by Samantha in the firm. Very patient with me explaining the best options to resolve a contentious estate situation that had gone on for 3 years previously where another very strong firm was on the other side using "low-ball, then delay then obfuscate, then avoid" tactics with my prior counsel. Once formally engaged on the case, Samantha resolved the entire matter w/in approx 4 months for a reasonable fee as well considering the amount of time invested in the process (Expect it to be a process of back and forth and attrition BTW!). I couldn't be more pleased with the firm, Samantha and Kara's professionalism, teamwork or the positive results for my family's future!

1) Bria walked us through the process with an initial tele-visit.
2) We then completed a simple questionnaire that Bria used to generate the final documentation which we reviewed at home

After scouring Google for a fair/reputable law firm that I trusted to handle my uncontested divorce I came across Virginia Family Law Center.
I knew after visiting their immaculately detailed website that my search was over. The site allowed me to see early on just how welcoming, transparent, and dedicated the staff at this law firm is.
From the very first interaction in addition to speaking with Ms. Carroll during my initial free consultation I knew that I could rest assured and trust VA Family Law with my individual situation.
As a 1st time divorcée to say that my nerves and emotions were naturally heightened would be an understatement. Yet throughout it all VA Family Law held my hand every step of the way. They never complicated the matter further by adding any uncertainty or confusion to the mix.
The entire process was seamless from beginning to end. All of my questions and concerns were acknowledged, validated, and dealt with accordingly. All of my emails and/or phone calls were swiftly returned & answered I was never left hanging.
I was assisted closely by Ms. Medina, Ms. Carroll, and Ms. Herrera. I have to say these professionals are quite the dynamic trio. They are the epitome of tact, empathy, and servitude. They went above and beyond to resolve this delicate matter for me and I am eternally grateful.
However, I would like to commend the entire staff at VA Family Law Center. Since I know that each individual brings something to the table as far as the law firms overall credibility and efficiency goes.
Honestly, I was brought back to life with each instructive email and every heartfelt update. The guestimated time frame for my divorce to be finalized was 2 to 3 weeks and everything was wrapped up exactly at the 2 week mark.
I don't want to jinx it but I know in my heart if I ever have to get a divorce again I will be reaching out to y'all immediately!

Steven and his assistant Julia were and are the perfect professionals with the patience and expertise and experience to guide me through my first and hopefully last divorce. I was and am probably their most disorganized client ever and after a 30 relationship ended at total wreck. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and not only did they get me through the darkness but where and still are my most trusted councilors. It’s a tough process and they provide sound advice with positive results. Jason Weis represented me in a post-divorce matter to look at spousal support. This case was a bit more complicated and required hiring a couple experts and Jason was awesome throughout everything. The experts he suggested were excellent and really helped our case. He and his whole team were extremely detail oriented, kind and polite to deal with (which makes a HUGE difference to me), and were really thinking about every angle and aspect to make sure we presented the best possible case. In court, I was blown away. It was clear throughout our 3 days in court that he was the better attorney, made sure all our evidence was presented and we got everything in that we thought was important, and always kept a calm and focused demeanor. The case ended up better than I ever could have imagined and am SO thankful that I was able to find Jason. He is VERY articulate and can would counter the opposing attorney when they try to be clever. His combination punches would floor any attorney that try to play dirty. I've met Mr. Nourse when he took a court appointed case in Fairfax VA. I've realized right away that he was different. He reminded me of what I used to believe lawyers stood for when I was just a innocent and naive child. I've had dreams to become a lawyer as I believed they were supposed to stand up for the weak, innocent, & even poor but punishes and puts away the evil, dangerous & harmful people. So imagine my shock and despair when every single attorney I've encountered or heard of has been nothing but huge disappointment, totally predictable, and only has two main goals (money & winning). But not Mr. Nourse! He showed genuine effort on his court appointed case with zero hint of negativity judgements or biased opinions. He's given us honest input and advice riddled with purely good intentions. He's also told me that it wasn't too late for me to study now to become a lawyer. He's changed my entire outlook on life and humanity and given me hope again. He never acted arrogant or cocky, while remaining steadily consistent, genuine, kind, honest, and warm. I wish there were more people like Mr. Nourse shows what true defiiniotn of lawyer stands for. There are many other attorneys who should reflect on themselves and remember why they've worked so hard to become an attorney in the first place.

I was between a rock a hard place and had to seek help in very short order, or I would lose my home to unfortunately circumstances. When I found Brian's information, I picked up the phone, on a whim, and assumed that I'd be leaving a voicemail and then waiting for days to hear back, as time was ticking away. I believe it was a weekend evening; phone started to ring and he answered right away!
I was completely unprepared, but midst being very emotional and almost crying, I tried to explain my situation. He listened, he asked key questions, he seemed empathetic and he calmed me down by providing a few possible solutions. I hung up the phone feeling entirely different and relieved. From that point on we communicated by text message and a few phone calls, and he never missed a beat. He was immediately responsive, frank, to the point and ready to clarify my clueless questions. Long story short, he was able to stop a foreclosure within 24 hours. He then continued to guide me forward in solving my issues in a timely manner and closing that chapter of life. All of this was done without even meeting face to face (Covid).
