Do not go to trial with this lawyer. The opposing party ran away with the show and I lost my child. Any objections we're disregarded by the da and the judge let it happen. Other times I told lawyer to object and she didnt. 3 days trial over 10 grand later and the results don't add up. Sorry kayla, but im deeply unsatisfied with you overall.

Come with your wallet first, results after. Chris is an ethical lawyer; there are no problems here. The problem is optics. There was a perpetual demand for money. Phone calls, money. Emails, money. Do we know if he talked for three hours to opposing counsel? We don't know. Money. There is just too much hypothetical bs rhetoric, and for the amount of money in demand, I have absolutely unequivocally underwhelming results. Not to mention, the matter is still unresolved. If you are a small/med business, this is not the lawyer for you. Granted, no one knows how much a case will cost, but truly experienced individuals know estimates, and because they are very good at what they do, they can navigate the water expertly. If I wanted this type of situation, I... you... anyone would be better off hiring a Jones Day lawyer or some other firm focused on profits over merits. Again, it is optics. If your case is not easy and everything is in your favor, I promise you this is not the guy you want unless you have 100k sitting somewhere, and you won't miss it when it is gone.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Judge Cherami Jenkins during a recent legal proceeding. The mistreatment I endured from Paula Crockett, Stacy Roundtree, and Judge Jenkins reached such an extent that I felt compelled to record our conversations. Despite diligently providing all required information before the hearing, Paula and Stacy misplaced my documents, causing unnecessary delays. During the call, I faced unwarranted criticism about my current wages, with Stacy continuously expressing doubts about the sustainability of my income and making baseless insinuations about my ability to support my family. Paula accused me of neglecting to provide bank statements, a requirement that was never communicated or necessary. Despite Paula's initial struggle to locate this information, I took the initiative to download six months of bank statements during the call. Both Paula and Judge Cherami Jenkins demonstrated a lack of understanding of self-employment, insinuating that it allows for tax manipulation. They delved into inappropriate inquiries about proprietary business information, including travel expenses, payments to guides, hotel costs, and profit margins. Their criticism extended to questioning me about refunds issued in 2020 and 2021, overlooking the fact that such details are typically handled by professionals like my bookkeeper and CPA. The recorded conversations exposed a condescending tone and biased opinions directed towards me. Stacy's relentless push for increased support payments, along with inappropriate comments about my attire, added to the unprofessionalism. Judge Cherami Jenkins, unfortunately, mirrored the negativity established by Stacy, leading me to believe that Stacy had influenced her opinion before she even joined the call. In addition to this mistreatment, I discovered an overpayment of child support by over $7,000 according to the OAG. Seeking clarification, I received conflicting information from Paula and Stacy, exacerbating my frustration. The treatment I received, coupled with evident racial undertones and biases, is entirely unjustified and demands immediate attention. Furthermore, the rescheduling of the court case and the subsequent request for additional discovery, despite all documents being submitted at the initial hearing, indicate a lack of consistency. Although I promptly provided the requested bank and credit card statements, the court's insistence on additional tax returns, especially for 2023, which won't be finalized before the hearing, raises questions about the court's fairness and procedural integrity. During a discussion with Judge Cherami Jenkins, her advice to present all available documents raised the question of why this inclusive approach wasn't employed during the initial hearing. Despite presenting all available documents at that time, the court seems to have shifted its expectations, creating further frustration and undermining confidence in the judicial process.

I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to this completely useless attorney. This guy will only make whatever problems you have worse. He will not return calls or emails and he’ll most likely no-show for any consultations you book after you pay him. Earlier in this process I had to file a grievance with the state bar to get him to do what I paid him to do. Now I’m back in the same spot with him and still not done with my divorce. I would have been thrilled to leave a good review here because I actually think he’s a knowledgeable attorney but it’s not worth the problems you’ll have just trying to get him to do his job. Lots of money paid to him for what should have been an easy case. Check out other review sites and BBB too. I will work as long as necessary to make sure he is disbarred.

Scam artist not an attorney Why is he allowed to practice law is baffling. Does not answer his phone , does not reply to emails or text messages , has you scheduling on his calendar and does not call you . It took a full year to get in front of judge and FINALLY I got a order BUT wait Donald was suppose to prepare it then review it with the other party and get it back to the judge ( the hearing was in July) it’s October and I still don’t have a copy This man was over paid Has countless numbers of family emergency’s Unprepared Has no clue what is going with these cases he keeps stealing money from people for I just want what I paid for and for the state bar to hold him accountable for playing with the lives of my children and myself Donald has no accountability , no compassion as he claims He is skating by as an attorney and should be disbarred

After my initial meeting with Robert Aldrich, in which I paid my retainer, I was passed on to one of his assistants. It seemed that their policy was to bill each and every little thing they did, however, much of what they did in my case was excessive and unnecessary. I believe they only created these items in order to increase my bill. I was going through a very difficult divorce, and in the end, was forced to call my husband myself to negotiate our decree. Robert Aldrich did not do what I hired him to do.

I hired Steve and his daughter (still at the firm at the time) to help me through a custody case. They told me it would be an hour easy case which proceeded to be more challenging than expected. Months later, when I was supposed to receive child support by the first of each month (after not getting what I was told would have been an easy win), I still was not getting what I was told should have been a legal process. After 3 emails, still no response nor child support. I am about to begin the process of finding a new lawyer if he continues to ignore my emails. Do not hire him if you expect communication.

I am absolutely baffled at how unprofessional, rude and insulting my consultation was with Travis Young. Not only did he make a snarky remark about my aunt’s looks when he took a glimpse of her through the crack of the door, but he emphasized that my fiancé wouldn’t make it out of the hospital alive! Little did he know, I had another consultation with an attorney who knew the inner workings of the court and how our case could move along to our advantage. All Travis said was to wait and see if my fiancé makes it out alive, then we will go from there. If he never intended to take the case, he should not have wasted our time and booked a consultation. How could anyone so unprofessional even be allowed to practice?

I'll never forget his last words at our last meeting in federal detention center - " everything on the factual resume and charges look just fine.. cant find any loopholes, lets just set a date for sentencing". WOW, now thats some real investigative prowess. Well, this slouch never bothered to even obtain and look at the DISCOVERY ! If he had, he would have found what any first year law student would have; glaring omissions of fact and plain error by the prosecutor. This guy is a big NOOOOO

I feel Patrick was not interested in my case after I hired him 09/2017. He gave me little options or advice on my divorce case when we went to court for the temporary hearing. After that hearing, I had to do all the calling to his paralegal and that's what most of my charges were for. Patrick neglected my case, by not trying to move it forward. He spoke little to opposing counsel and again, gave me options because I didn't know what to expect. I feel he folded when he found out who opposing counsel was. He made charges on my account that he never preformed. At least one was credited back to me. Because of his neglect, I was Discovery and Mediation was never done. I lost out on property and monies because of that. I finally had enough and had to hire another attorney. That attorney was only granted two weeks. Once we had a face to face with opposiing counsel, the new attorney asked for more time and the judge denied. I therefore, was never given Discovery or Mediation. The good news is new law got the divorce done 07/2018 that Patrick could not move forward. If you desire to lose your case, this is your attorney, but please take my advise and pass him by. You will lose, no matter what your case is if you hire this attorney.

I wouldn't recommend this attorney to represent on sexual assault case. He will go against the victim and be on the suspect side. Evidently he needs to go back to law school and learn not to just throw out a case when there is substantial evidence clearly but all gets thrown out the window and someone who sexually assaults you gets to walk free. Not my way of justice!

Because of his failure to act on our behalf, our case did not go in our favor. Now, 2 years later we are having to go back to court (with a new lawyer of course) and spend more money to get it done the right way. Even today, it is impossible to get our records from him or to even get a return call when messages are left. I hired Rachel Dalton because she sold me on how hard she was gonna fight for what was rightfully mine. $64,000 paid to her I realized it was false advertisement! I met her once and she was present at my mediation and THAT IS ALL! I would have ended up with much much more (and attorney fee would have been much less) if I’d just agreed with the ex husband offer. She wasn’t willing to go to court AT ALL, even with me imploring her to do so because of all the wrong he had done, she was NOT willing to do so AT ALL! I had text messages of conversations with his many girlfriends providing details of their relations as well as how he financially prepared for this divorce and “hide money” and “prepared the business we built to look upside down so I it appeared as a loss and I shouldn’t get much of anything”. This was just a small portion of information she could have used. Now my ex hired the meanest nastiest attorney in town and it was made quite obvious she could not, would not fair the fight with her skills as an attorney. She got twice as much as I would have received had I hired a perfectly fine attorney at reasonable price. She did absolutely nothing for me as an attorney, or otherwise, other than take $65,000 of my money and traveled extensively and went to one mediation. I would not recommend her to any, even my ex husband, who would be deserving of such a rip off.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
