Very seldom does a person get to deal with a professional who deserves more than 5 stars! Thankfully we were able to find such a person in the sad period after our good friend died in Honolulu, HI.
We needed an estate and probate attorney to discuss and handle the distribution of the estate. We contacted Samuel Suen by email on a Sunday. He responded within a few hours and we set up a conference call for the following morning. Mr. Suen answered all our questions clearly in both a friendly and professional manner.
At the end of an hour-long discussion, for which there was no charge, I asked how we would pay his very reasonable hourly rate. Much to our surprise, he said we shouldn't hire him because there was no need to probate this particular will.
His honesty and forthrightness was amazing! We tried to figure out some reason to hire him but to no avail. Ultimately we wished him a very fond farewell.
Based on our experience, if you need an estate or probate attorney, you can't do better than Samuel Seun.

I called Patrick McPherson after a vehicle theft incident. I was immediate answered by Patrick and not a secretary or someone that had to put me on hold. I told him the situation and gave him the details, he never once made me feel stupid and explained in an easily understandable what to do. He assisted me in reaching out to the police officers and I ended up getting my vehicle back the same day. He also gave me advice on what to do with my insurance and how to handle the situation. I was referred to Mr. Aguinaldo from Legal Aid whom said they could not help me. He was gracious to hear my story as I was feeling helpless. He offered to help me out with a payment I could afford and looked over my employment severance agreement. He got back to me the next day and revised the agreement to my better liking. Diane C. Haar has a wonderful team, very comprehensive, very prepared. We had social security disability case. The office is professional and prompt in all of the responses. The process went from being frustrating and confusing when I was doing it on my own to straightforward and although it still took a long time, the Attorney and her team was completely supportive, knowledgeable and well informed. We were completely supported all along the way. They are very good at screening the case and they are very honest whether or not the case has merit. Even afterward, when I had questions the office staff was there to answer questions and help with the bureaucracy.

Came to my hospital bed to interview me for my case, the system is backed up but she never failed to keep me updated as to my case's schedule. Worked with me to identify my doctors, hospital records, surgery, etc. and kept it concise and focused on my injury/disability. Jeff is the man you need for the job! I was falsely accused of a sexual harassment case in the Army. Jeff quickly acted and responded back having me appeal and writing a rebuttal to the Commanding General. Overall the case that was initially founded, then was reversed to unfounded. Choosing Jeff was the best choice I ever made to combat the UCMI(Uniformed Code of Military INJUSTICE). I unfortunately fell victim to this and was left with a very difficult choice. I was threatened to be illegally separated from the Navy with no due process in one week's time. The command Jag decided to take it upon himself to illegally withhold evidence so he can convict me of a crime I did not commit. That same Jag told me he knew I was innocent but it would look better on his evaluation to convict me and what can I do since he has the law on his side and I do not.
Luckily, I found Jeff who I can proudly call the "Military Lincoln Lawyer". In no time at all Jeff diagnosed the problem and quickly developed a plan of action to address this and give me a fighting chance. Shortly after hiring the Military Lincoln Lawyer all charges were dismissed and big Navy was made aware that they hired a crook to represent their command.

Enormous thanks to Vickie Sakamaki and the Okura team for handling my mother's estate. They were always on top of everything, super helpful answering questions, and frankly they saved us a lot of money from what I've found.

With my small business, I've worked with many lawyers over the years and always had a bad experience (i.e. they billed me 5x the initial quote without any warning during the process, they gave me incorrect advise so that I would pay for something unnecessary, etc.) Finally, I was referred to Jeanilou, and although I only met with her for a consultation, I could tell she actually cares about small businesses and what is best for the client. After spending hours reviewing our documents and speaking with us, she ended up advising us not to move forward with our case. She didn't take a retainer and there was no hidden bill. She also did not make me feel stupid for past mistakes or for not understanding something and rather took the time to listen to my concerns and then kindly explain the best solution. The only downside is that I wish I had found her sooner! Highly recommend!

I got arrested under suspicion of DUI in downtown Honolulu. The whole process was a stressful and expensive life experience. I talked to a few local attorneys and someone suggested James. I met with him and had a frank discussion on what happened and what I could expect in the coming months. His fees were in-line with some of the other attorneys. Not cheap but not outrageous, and you don’t necessarily want lowest price for something like this. Either way, I hired him as my attorney. He was well prepared the majority of the time and was very responsive. To make a year long story short. We had our ADLRO hearing and I had my license back within a week, no machine or defensive driving classes. Months of delay went on but we did our court time and ended up with my DUI being dismissed. I remember how stressful the process of selecting a lawyer was after being arrested for a DUI. Some offices I had to leave a message or make an appointment with the secretary. When I called James he answered himself, asked relevant questions, and overall left me feeling much better about the situation. After a brief meeting in person I knew I would want him representing me in court and that he'd offer the best defense possible against not only the DUI but speeding and reckless driving as well.
James never made me feel pressured and only offered useful advice. My case became very drawn out due to how the court works and I had to go in five times, sometimes only to reschedule as they ran out of time. James was always there and he always kept me informed as to whether my case would actually be dealt with, where we were in the case, and allowed me to make strategic decisions based on his explanations. James was well known and well respected in the courtroom from my experiences there and I was always happy and felt relaxed that he was representing me.
James immediately got my excessive speeding charge reduced to a traffic fine and we were debating the merits of taking the deal for the reckless charges depending on how the officer presented my driving. He also felt we could make a strong case against the DUI charges. So I was in pretty good shape even though I felt pretty rough when it first happened. However things ended even better than expected as after almost a 13 month wait James was able to get all charges dismissed with prejudice. All while I had moved away from Hawaii in the last two months to pursue a graduate program. So everything was dismissed and I never had to come back for a court date.
I will always be grateful for James and how he helped me.

I got my first and only DUI during the holidays so imagine the stress I felt during that time period. After being denied 3 times for SSDI, I was scared depressed and frustrated.I had no idea what to do. I couldn't work,was in constant pain and seeing multiple drs who all agreed that I wouldn't be able to work a full time job again. At the end of my rope I decided to contact a lawyer. I called Danielle and it was the best decision I ever made. Even amoungst this pandemic of Covid-19 Danielle managed to walk me though a very overwhelming processes of a hearing. My family came to Ryan with a fairly uncommon problem. We needed his help transferring the guardianship of an adult from one state to another and also from one co-guardian to a new co-guardian. Sounds simple right? Ryan does not specialize in this type of law (I don't think many do), but he didn't bat an eye. Hands down the best decision! Once finding out I was under investigation for a misdemeanor (yet very serious) allegation, I consulted with nearly a dozen attorneys. My mother suffered a fractured jaw and bruised ribs from a fall at a commercial parking lot in Kailua. It was obvious the property management firm was negligent due to no lighting and obstructions leading to the overflow parking lot. You never want to settle directly with the insurance adjuster unless you have representation from an attorney. After consulting with dozens of attorneys who claimed they specialized in personal injury claims 99% refused to take the case citing: age of mom, Medicare issues and/or trouble prosecuting premise injuries. I finally came across with Sam King. Wow immediately I knew I found the right attorney. Most lawyers did not even want to spend much time on the phone discussing the issue but Mr. King invited us to his office and I could immediately know he was knowledgeable and very experienced in handling such cases. He knew how to work the system and who to talk with to get a good settlement. Other attorneys were simply clueless on many of these matters. I also liked that Mr. King never charged a penny upfront and I was free to consult with him regarding matters to this case. Very friendly and honest he could discuss the possible issues to expect. What my mom and I REALLY cherished from Mr. King was his ability to really listen. All these other attorneys talk and interrupt you constantly. Many times victims are formulating their thoughts and instead of assisting your thought process other attorneys cut you off. But not Mr. King. At the end we got a really big settlement w/o even having to go to trial. I would overwhelmingly recommend Mr. King to anyone who has experienced a personal injury.
