No words can express how grateful and blessed we are to meet with Attorney Blake Goodman and his staff. They helped us every step of the way and kept us updated. All the staff are friendly and supportive. I highly recommend them to anyone who is going through financial difficulties and challenges, right when you leave the office you feel relieved.

I was pleased to receive a return call promptly after requesting a consultation. Knowledgeable, courteous, ready to assist, Blake Goodman listens carefully and provides his best counsel for a path forward. He thoughtfully referred me to another attorney with more relevant practice for my question. Top marks!

Super professional, and quickly completed our court case hearing. Yes, they were pricey, but we paid for quality work. I would always recommend this law firm to others. They helped get the adoption of our son done in a timely and efficient manner. They communicated with us constantly, and kept us in the loop. They provided all the essential paper work for us, as well as helped navigate the filling out of certain documents. Very knowledgeable attorneys, and satisfied with the work that was completed.

They have been nothing but efficient and professional in helping with my son’s adoption case. Yea we paid a pretty penny but truthfully it was worth every cent. 10/10 would recommend. Mahalo nui for all of your guys help!

Sweet guy but doesn't respond to any calls or emails. Will go weeks without hearing anything. I will leave voicemail after voicemail and nothing. Sits and says we have a good case yet doesn't do anything to move forward and finish it. Always has an excuse on why I haven't heard from him in 4 weeks. You get what you pay for. Cheap price for cheap work.

I’ve met some arrogant attorneys in my day but Kirk takes the cake! I was referred to this clown by a federal judge friend and I couldn’t have been more disappointed. He never returned one phone call, one email and never gave any status update as to his conflict check status! He was a complete waste of my time never mind losing months waiting around for him to show one once of credibility or integrity! He is exactly what gives attorneys a bad name and my suggestion would be to get yourself a better attorney because they are out there. On a positive note, I landed one of the most prestigious firms after dumping this guy, so I count myself lucky. I am in much better hands at the end of the day. Good Riddance Kirk!

Taylor once served as my lawyer. About six years ago, my husband and I sought his expertise during our marriage immigration process. Taylor provided invaluable professional advice, ensuring a seamless transition for me to the United States. When I arrived, Taylor didn't just meet with us; he accompanied me to every interview. Despite the unique challenges of our situation, which led to an initial unsuccessful application, Taylor was quick. He promptly spearheaded a second application and generously covered our associated fees. Throughout the immigration ordeal, he consistently demonstrated professionalism, patience, and thoroughness. He wasn't just a lawyer; he felt like a close friend. Our financial situation could have been better then, leading to times when we struggled with prompt payments. Yet, Taylor never held it against us, continuing to support us with kindness and professionalism. Thanks to his persistent efforts, I was granted my green card. During the green card application process, my husband was detained for drunk driving—a devastating blow, especially since I had just given birth. Though this issue was outside Taylor's professional purview, he extended an offer from his heart: he invited me to stay with his family in Hawaii. I didn't accept, but the depth of his generosity is something I'll never forget. Taylor is a big blessing to our family; his unwavering support helped me find my strength. When I first came to the United States, I had a very tough period due to the language obstacle, but Taylor gave me great encouragement, and now I am a Chinese professor at a university. My husband and I had a second daughter two years ago. Our gratitude for Taylor is boundless; he often graces our conversations with fond memories.

My poor mother is lost in a 20+ year divorce case and lost her court records in a fire. She turned to Micky hoping for some relief and answers. Instead, she demanded she see a divorce decree or recommended that my mother return to her old attorney… if she had listened to my mother or even cared, she would know we need help obtaining copies of court records, that a decree might not exist, and that the previous attorney did not see the case through.

I had been trying to get divorced for 10 years. I went through five divorce attorneys before Micky. The previous attorneys didn't seem to want to understand my situation and consequently we got nowhere. Micky was different, she listened to me, she asked questions, she studied my financial details and she came up with a solution that allowed me to get divorced without going to trial. I am forever indebted to Micky for getting me my divorce.

However, Micky's persistent example of professional integrity was a breath of fresh air. She is an expert at her craft!

I trust Mr. Chen with all my legal problems. I have referred at least two friends to him and he has been extremely helpful. He is a professional and will always go the extra mile to keep you safe. What I really appreciate from Mr. Chen especially in this day and age is that he will get the job done without any reminders. It's simple peace of mind. When I have a problem, I know he'll take care of it. Mr. Chen helped me out by resolving a dispute that I had, but more than that he has helped me with a variety of different legal issues. He is always available by phone and email and is very responsive. He's proactive and let's me know when problems arise or when something needs to be done. I can not stress how big of a help he has been to my family. I appreciate his help and advice. If you are wondering how to navigate your own legal issues I would give Mr. Chen a call. He is one of the few people I really trust.

I can’t thank Edward Smith enough for his incredible support during a very challenging time. When I needed him most, he showed up during my civil TRO hearing and knew exactly what to say to ensure I didn’t sabotage my own case. His professionalism and ability to navigate the legal world with ease were truly impressive. Edward Smith fought tirelessly against my wife’s demands, which were more than I could afford, and he wouldn’t settle for anything less than fair. His dedication and expertise made all the difference in my case. If you’re looking for a lawyer who will stand by you and fight for your best interests, look no further than Edward Smith. Highly recommended!

I've had an absolutely terrible experience. He took a 5.5k retainer, my case was moved to Canadian Courts, and now he's failing to respond, not returning the retainer, and appears to be attempting to steal my money. These actions have been preventing me from acquiring the appropriate legal representation. I strongly advise staying away from this law firm. UPDATE: He ended up padding the bill when asked for a refund of the retainer. Charged me for text messages and emails that he never responded to including messages listed below were I requested my funds be returned. "You are negatively impacting my ability to secure legal counsel and leaving me with no other options but to explore pursuing a civil case against your firm. If my money isn't returned this week, I'll be pursuing a civil case as well as filing a complaint with the Hawaii State Bar Association. This is absolutely ridiculous." CHARGED me $55. "Are you planning on returning the funds at all? It's very concerning that my requests have gone unanswered." NO RESPONSE and CHARGED another $55. "Good morning, We secured a lawyer in Ontario to handle the extradition/child custody. Would it be possible to return the remainder of the retainer? If the case ends up coming to Hawaii, we can send resend a retainer. Funds are just tight at the moment." NO RESPONSE and CHARGED another $55. "Hello, Are you able to help me formulate the response to the OCL report? This is my draft so far. OCL Response .docx" NO RESPONSE and CHARGED another $55. I think everyone can see the trend. I strongly advise looking elsewhere for a lawyer.

Calling Nelson goo a sleazy attorney would feed his ego as he takes pride in bottom feeding. I am saddled with indefinite conditional release from the state hospital and goo has neglected me since he took over as court appointed attorney in December of 2019. He hasn't cfalled me on the phone since October of 2020. He is paid a flat rate by the court to defend me and he doesn't do anything to so that his pay check will continue. I filed a complaint against him with the office of disciplinary council and after a 14 month investigation the findings were ruled confidental. The motion filled by the public defender in 2013 that got me in this mess wasn't stamped by the criminal justice division of the attorney Generals office meaning the pd didn't have permission to fill the motion and goo told the judge that the matter was frivolous. At the last hearing the judge refused to give me a new attorney

I believe he did the best thing he could've done to every single case he has done. Now sometimes things don't go the way you want it to be, and that's just how it will go. My case can be good as yours, and it's great for my case btw. BUT, do not get your hopes up if your actions put you somewhere in deep sh*t. If you have a sh*tty history that doesn't help your case whatsoever then, don't expect ANY ATTORNEYS to do a better job. I didn't expect anything out of him, but by giving him the information he needed, we won. In most of it since I was on probation, but that's better than jail time, honestly.

"I had read the reviews after I hired Nelson Goo, but I had to go on my gut instinct. I felt he led me in the most positive way to win my cases. I had regular email contact with him, and I found all the information he requested, and he delivered it in a very professional manner. I trusted him, and I am thankful that I did. I had an assault case in family court dropped by the prosecutor before it ever went to trail, and I had my TRO dismissed by the plaintive before we even had to defend the case, because he played the cases moment by moment, listening to me when I gave suggestions, and looked for the weaknesses in the cases. He was prepared and clam, when I was nervous and scared. I am a very happy that I trusted him. I hope this response helps whoever reads this knowing that not all people who win, write their responses, it is usually the ones who are frustrated and upset. Not all cases can be won just because you want them to be won, it takes evidence and it takes knowing how to present the evidence. I felt Nelson listened to me, and helped direct me in the best possible way I could go to beat these cases. I had listened to two other lawyers before I picked Nelson, and you should do the same thing before you choose a lawyer. Let them spell out what they think they can do for you, before you make a choice. Nelson told me he could get the case dropped, and he did it. He told me what I wanted to hear, but he explained why he thought he could win. Then I got him all the evidence he needed, I helped him, i didn't depend on him to get the evidence. I took part in my case. I got the phone records, I took the voice messages and put them on CD's, and I took the photos to the Costco and had them enlarged. Nelson told me what I needed to do, and I did it. I didn't sit back and expect him to do all the work and then wonder why I lost the case when I was paying him. I paid him for his experience in the court room, and then I worked on my case just as hard as he did. I needed a voice of reason and he seemed to understand the courts and how they were going to respond. I am posting this to let others know that he does do good work."

Mr. Ignacio was the best attorney I could have purchased for the petitioner in my case. Not only was he an hour late for my court date, he never replied to my emails or consulted with me prior to my court date. He essentially was my accusers attorney and made it impossible for me to seek recourse. He told me after my case was finalized to move back to Europe. My accuser thanked Mr. Ignacio, shaked his hand and patted him on his back. I was 100% misrepresented by Mr. Ignacio and was charged $2500.00 an hour to be stabbed in the back. Mr. Ignacio should have shot me in the head.

I am disgusted with how you "defended" my mom. I took at look at her papers and you didn't explain half of what was on there to her. This shouldn't have made it to this point if you even asked my mom what happened from her point of view. You clearly don't care about your clients. You need to rethink your ethics and career choice. An attorney is supposed to bring out the truth. You didn't.

Mr Suemori represented my daughter in a June 2007 illegal eviction case. Mr Suemori sought $125,000 in damages, but after paying him $25,000 in August 2012 he settled for $5,000. We asked an attorney to review the docket sheet and discovered Mr. Suemori had done little-no formal discovery and taken no depositions. He never gave us a timeline estimate of completion or cost estimate as promised. His firm repeatedly requested documents of my daughter that she already provided. He was often responsiveness and was not good about updating us on his proceeding during the 5 year case. We have yet to see any sincere effort on his part to rectify this situation.

My husband and I hired Mr. Wilder and were provided much hope for the future. The entire process was painful, from lack of contact from Mr. Wilder at the beginning, as his staff led us to believe that he was our attorney, then come to find out he's not even an attorney, then abruptly left, and we were handed off to another assistant. They lost our signed paperwork multiple times, needing it to be resubmitted, and we didn't have a printer at the time, so we had to drive all the way to a UPS store, or on two instances, the library. Mr Wilder then proceeded to not be able to obtain certain files from various doctors in a timely manner, so we had to do it for him, then he charged us for obtaining the files AND the mailing of the files. It wasn't all that much money, but when you're a struggling couple, every dollar counts. He didn't prep for the deposition at all, and was an awful experience. The whole process was unpleasant, and whenever we'd stand up for ourselves, he'd scoff at us, then talk in a very condescending tone. All in all, we wouldn't recommend him, especially not in Hawaii. The amount of stress, lack of insight, and respect speaks volumes for his character. That is all I feel comfortable saying

This attorney advised us to get as much treatment as humanly possible, then negotiated the bills down before court, thus leading us into court with a much much much smaller claim, then dropped out immediately before the court date, putting a lien on our recovery, thus we walk with nothing, and he brings home almost $100,000. Don't believe the you pay nothing unless he wins. Absolutely not true. On top of it all, he talked down to us constantly, made my spouse, and immediate family very uncomfortable. Would never hire again.

It is sad to say that Schmeding was hired and did nothing for my case. I provided ALL documentation and he failed to keep the communication. In the end, after hiring an AWESOME attorney, Schmeding still got double the cut from my settlement then the one who actually worked on my case. I do NOT recommend this firm and would chose to represent myself if needed to. Please be careful and do your research.

I checked out Chuck Choi and saw that he had a lot of re-org plans confirmed so I figured he would probably be a good attorney for my chapter 11. I hred him in August '16. He failed to explain to me the importance of the unsecured class ...he refused to do litigation or even be an aggressive negotiator when we we're on the right side we have the proof and he just gave them a get out of jail free card… A free pass and it was a lot of money that they did not deserve. They were guilty of fraud. These people were members of the LLC with me and held The mortgage on the property at the same time. They had very little into the deal but because they held the mortgage they wanted to foreclose and steal millions of dollars in equity. They hired a lawyer without my knowledge . This guy coached them on how to kill the deal. They then set about sabotaging our development deal. Their actions are a breach of their fudiciary duty to me as a co-member of the LLC and we had the proof of it . In Cases of fraud like this that note doesn't even exist and Chuck gave them a pass and they're supposed to be paid $1.25mn. Chuck is a very arrogant person and is difficult to get along with. He's also vindictive; at a status conference he set me up pretending nothing was going on, and a half hour before the status conference he filed a motion to withdraw from the case in a surprise ambush move to cause maximum detrimental effect and harm to me and my company ... We still don't know the fallout from this treachery against his own client . Then he did the worst possible job he could do at that status conference; he lied by omission to The judge for months… The result of which is we have a terrible record silent when it shouldn't be. I argued with him over it & he won out & now I'm having to set the record straight and it's difficult if not impossible to do and he knew better. With an attorney like this, you better watch your back ... Don't you see the knives in mine ? What kind of lawyer hides the fact that he's going to withdraw from his client and then proceeds to represent? while client is in the dark ?!! It's so important to have a good attorney; & then, 5 mins after the hearing concludes & we meet he doesn't even mention it to me? he hid it from me. Why would I want a bum like that arguing on my behalf? He Ambushed me. He sabotaged the case. The judge issued an OSC after the hearing due in large part because of what was said by opposing counsel this is the same lawyer that advised his clients how to kill my deal so they could gmmnmnnforeclose on the note and steal the shopping center land . This prolific liar, lied in court and Chuck said nothing . Opposing counsel told the judge that his client was just a simple dentist who needs his money and I as manager was not following the plan and was not going to follow plan of reorganization... And therefore he should allow the foreclosure to proceed where they steal $6 million in equity ... CChoi silence was a co- signature of opposing counsel's Truthfulness but it wasn't truthful at all ...it was a straight up lie! And Choi knew it was a lie but he did nothing about it. So I filed paperwork showing the Dentists financial position and it was signed by the dentist's wife showing $78 million in assets and a net worth of $44 million. I believe Chuck Choi is working with the opposition to harm me. I believe Choi is capable of anything including these atrocities here that could cost me everything I own. CChoi never did answer the opposition at all in Their recent pleadings that could cost me millions and therefore I cannot recommend him for anything not even fighting a traffic ticket... I believe he belongs disbarred . he's going to hurt somebody real bad, just like he has done to me. Don't ever turn your back on Choi .

Erika Amatore is the worst attorney hired by our consulting business. Our consulting business has been active for almost ten years around the world (e.g. Canada, Korea, US, Belize, Russia, Bolivia, Switzerland, Africa, Singapore, etc) and used a variety of attorneys for various matters relating to intellectual property, tax matters, patents, regulatory matters, and most recently breach of contract. We've had excellent legal support many times, however, no lawyer has ever treated our firm in the poor manner that she did. The worst--Erika did not disclose that the judicial official working in our case has a conflict of interest worth our review and when another attorney flagged the issue she did not share that concern (that conflict ended up being exposed six months later and is worth knowing). She did not get to know our company's case nor fact check case details with us before committing our company to key deadlines. She did not follow directions on almost any request---she failed to use prepared legal material by prior legal counsel and instead recreated legal documents at our company's expense. In files we gave her she introduced legal and factual errors that she did not highlight so those changes and errors were not caught in time. Her errors actually contradict the cornerstone of our case that we asked her to review three or more times at the beginning--meaning her errors are incompetence or disobedience possibly both. She did not consult with our firm about deposing a witness nor review key documents that would have prepared her for the deposition. She shared company files outside the firm without seeking the firm's prior informed consent which put intellectual property of client's at risk. Erika was under prepared for our discovery deadline and sent us on multiple wild goose chases regarding how to produce documents (e.g. the format requested changed multiple times making our staff spend dozens of hours of repetitive unnecessary work). She ended up dropping the case with little notice, right before the discovery request, without consulting the company nor informing it of it's legal rights. If a person professionally commits to representing a case at the very least, commit to key a few milestones and come up with a strategy to transition if one cannot commit long-term. She did not have the maturity to do that. To sum it up, Erika comes across as a self-absorbed and heartless millennial that is distracted, doesn't care, and is sloppy. This firm and our management has worked with and/or supervised over sixty people and she, undoubtedly, is the worst professional worked with. Our firm worked with the legal firm to get the answers/find a solution and/or give her the benefit of the doubt for over a month. The only thing we accomplished was finding out that our gut feeling presented here is more than true and grounded by fact and we found out worse things beyond our imagination. We are left feeling that if we found truth to our complaints---imagine the additional damage she did because we probably found out only a portion of the truth. It is our formal opinion this person lacks the intellectual and moral character to represent others needing legal help. Erika Amatore is also in dire need of some serious soul searching. We wish her luck in conducting that intense reflection because she is going to need it.

benefits assistance atttorney, Appealed decision of Dept of Human services Hawaii to deny assistance for qualified individual. Attorney did a fair job on the appeal. But what i didn't like as a client was her attitude not to look beyond the scope of what was really happening. After the decision was granted by Circuit court Judge in our favor, DHS needed to schedule a new hearing. I asked for a original document be entered into evidence during the DHS hearing this document said i asked for money while pending a hearing date. I never sign any papers of such a sort. The only papers I signed was at legal aid of Hawaii. They gave me papers to sign to represent me, some of these papers I signed were blank. This paper was one of a few main reason i gave to being right. Days b4 hearing I had ask attorney to ask for documents bcuz i never signed or gave a reason asking for finacial assistance pending hearing. The day of hearing I asked My lawyer did she ask DHS/AAO for document she ignored me. long story short after losing that hearing.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.

Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.

    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
