Since being appointed to the bench as an Immigration Judge, Ms. Lisa Luis has demonstrated an immense ability to navigate through the very complex immigration laws. ability of the knowledge the law, and how it applies to the particular facts of each case. I was helped by her back when with the da's office. She was a consummate professional which has carried over to the Federal Bench. The United States got a good one in her. Word of advice: If you are lucky to present your case in front of her, do come prepared to proceed.

She was court appointed to represent me in a case where 4 other court appointed lawyers had withdrawn before the case even got off the ground! She was very well put together. Explained things to me in a way that I could understand them. Was very insistent that I understood all my options when I decided to plead. She worked out a deal with the DA that suited me. Win's demeanor through the whole process put my at ease and gave me confidence in my decisions throughout the whole process. She didn't hesitate to answer any questions, no matter how small or how many times I asked the same question. She was AWESOME!!!

Getting a Writ of Garnishment when you work so hard to stay on top of your obligations and be an honest person, is one of the most difficult things that can happen. My life was turned upside down four years ago when I was expecting my first child and my husband lost his job. It was a struggle trying to stay afloat with all the debts we owed, while my husband searched for a new job. After a few months, our savings account and lines of credit were completely depleted. The banks I was indebted to refused to work out an affordable payment plan, so when I couldn’t afford the bills any longer I was forced to make a very difficult decision. I’ve thought about my debts ever since I wasn’t able to make the payments. To my dismay, four years later on February 17, 2014, my world crumbled. I received a Writ of Garnishment after judgment for one of my delinquent accounts. My bank and my employer froze my assets. I have two kids and I had bills to pay; I didn’t know what to do or where to turn. I was a wreck! I searched effortlessly to find someone whom I can trust, someone who was honest and someone that was there not for the money, but because they had my best interest at heart. On March 9, 2014 God answered my prayers and He sent me an Angel. I had the pleasure of meeting Attorney Rhonda A. Reece. She had the most positive and reassuring words to offer. She was so professional, she was cordial, she was kind, she was a great listener, she was humble, she was patient and she showed me that she cared for me and was there to help me get past my hurdle. She did not make me feel like a failure but helped me to realize that life happens and I’m not the only person that is being faced with these challenges. Despite the many clients I’m sure Attorney Reece had to assist, I felt like I was her priority. She took the matter into her hands and investigated what she could, to help me out of my situation. She read the documents and explained them to me so that I could understand where I was, what would happen and what I needed to do to make my wrong, right! While she was busy communicating with the other Attorney(s) on my behalf, she kept me appraised on my case and answered all my questions in a timely manner. She faithfully called me numerous times throughout the day and at the end of each day with an update. She worked so hard for me and went above and beyond to negotiate an affordable settlement. On March 17, 2014, she contacted me with great news. She had it all worked out! Attorney Reece provided me with an affordable settlement letter that also indicated that once my funds were received, they would release me of the Judgment that was filed against me. I am proud to say that because of God and Attorney Rhonda A. Reece, today I am closer to being debt free than I ever thought I could be. Thank you for being Amazing, Attorney Rhonda A. Reece! We were given a second chance to get our lives back because of your hard work and dedication. We are truly honored to have met you and are grateful for you! You are one of a kind a very special person. This world needs so much more like you! Without a doubt, I would definitely use your services again if I had to and you are very HIGHLY recommended as the #1 Best Attorney in Houston, Texas. Anyone that chooses to use your service, I can guarantee will be on their way to having much better, restful nights! God bless you, your work and your practice always, Attorney Rhonda A. Reece!

I was represented by Mr. Little in a commercial case. After first talking to Mr. Little I knew I was being represented by someone who would do everything in their power to help me. He was direct and honest in giving me advice, answering my questions, and coaching me through every step of the litigation process. Trust and loyalty are values Mr. Little takes very serious and these are exemplified in the steps he takes in representing his clientele. In a world where such qualities go unnoticed or disregarded, it is refreshing to know there are people like Mr. Little who take a humanistic approach in considering other people’s feelings, fears, and desires. Most of us know the legal process takes patience, emotional stamina, and an unwavering positive attitude which, in the case with Mr. Little, was easily accomplished by the constant uplifting communication and the sincere personal concern Mr. Little showed for my well-being. It is because of the character, knowledge, attitude, and novel thinking of Mr. Les Little that I have a renewed understanding and admiration for those who practice law. Considering the professionalism of Mr. Les Little, I have no reservations in recommending him to anyone seeking a lawyer that prides himself in a job well done inside and outside the courtroom.

I used this Lawyer for a first time DWI. That's hard to beat in Houston, especially if you blow, so the next best thing is to try hard to minimize the damage to keep your job, not go to jail and spend as less money as possible, because it's going to cost you! This Lawyer listened and gave me options for my lifestyle. He always appeared in court; has a good repore with DA and Judge; in the end he followed my choice of the options and got me the minimum of all the conditions. Now I can move on. This is a very serious charge in Houston, so don't get a wimpy Lawyer. His price reasonable and no hidden or extra fees. He's a straight up kind of guy doing whatever best for your situation. Thanks Scott. (T.W.)

Mike is an outstanding human being & outstanding attorney, an oxymoron right? Well, it's true. I remain grateful, & it's been over 10 yrs since my divorce was finalized, for Mike. Had he not represented me I would have lost my children, home...everything. My Ex hired a highly successful attorney, Mike wasn't fazed as his own successful case history in family law speaks for itself. He readily handled the other attorney w/ease in the courtroom & out. Mike saved I & my children from a life that would otherwise have been destroyed. Please keep this most important truth in mind, you can't afford not to have Mike & his highly skilled team represent you & your family.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?

  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?

  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
