John Whitbeck is an excellent lawyer, and I was so thankful to have him as my divorce lawyer. What impressed me during my initial consultation was that he came up with a plan after listening to my story. He is a passionate defender toward his clients, and he will keep you focused on the important issues and give you sound, legal advice. My advice to those that are divorcing is this: try to be fair and do what is right even when things are difficult, and hire John Whitbeck as your attorney.

He seems competent, but his political activities/ambitions and case load seem to distract from his work at times. He waited to the last minute to file some paperwork he was notified about a couple of weeks earlier. We ended up missing a deadline as a result. Fortunately, the consequences were not too extreme. I’m writing here because he won’t own his sloppy work. If he just said a simple “woopsies. Sorry. My bad” instead of not acknowledging the issue, I would have let it go and not be writing here.

John is my families hero.
He Fought BESIDE ME Long and hard. My case was very difficult and he was dealing with an career criminal and cruel individuals. He kept a level head. Calmed me down when times got tough, went to war to keep my freedom, supported my families safty and made keeping the family together a priority. I couldn't of held family together if John and his staff had not worked so hard for me and my children. He truly is busy and is moving up in the world as an successful lawyer and chairman of the GOP. He is smart and will fight the good fight against wrong.
I don't have alot of confidence in any lawyers however John is not just a lawyer he is a man who believes justice should be served daily, no matter what day it is. Let freedom ring.
John has amazing grace.

Mr. Colombo is worth every penny he charges. We met during COVID, which means we actually never met in person, and that is the reason why I didn't say, "he's worth his weight in gold" ... I've never seen him so I don't know what he looks like ... what if he's skinny, the "worth his weight in gold" wouldn't do him justice!
I'm a one-woman, small shop contractor and one of my clients decided not to pay me. Mr. Colombo took on my case for half of what others had quoted me and he came through, all the way. He took the time to listen to me, he responded to my emails during off hours and called me when only workaholics like he and I would place/take calls. He's accessible, personable, thorough and good. I never had to nudge him, he was always on top of my case and I'm very aware that while my issue was big to me, it was small peanuts to him. Nevertheless, he always made me feel like I was his top client. Seriously. That's a rare find.
I'm a very happy camper and I will sing his praises to the moon and back. Yes, I'd hire him again in a heart beat but, trust me, I hope I never have to!!!!

I started to used Rhonda after my divorce was final and there were items in the MSA that were not being followed. She is an incredible attorney that gets things done quickly and efficiently. One of the things I appreciate the most is that I do not have to wait long for a response; many times you are waiting and re-calling/checking on items. She works fast to get things accomplished. I know whatever I bring to her she will take care of in the best way possible and in a timely manner.

Overall, Thomas is 100%. Watch out for last-minute deals when he gets you to sign something at the very last minute that he doesn’t warn you about they can actually define your reputation for the rest of your life. Don’t sign up for anything with Thomas until you get the fine letter print at least a week before you go to court because once you’re in court and you’re up against that…
Overall, he’s a great attorney, but at the last minute when you think everything is wrapped up and a pretty little package, he will disturb you and make you sign something that you wish you never had signed off on.

I sat in on a meeting with my cousin and her lawyer Spencer because she felt like she needed the extra support. When I was there he presented himself in a polite manner but as he surveyed my cousin, he had a very sarcastic and condescending tone towards her answers. He was also asking her for information she had already sent a head of time. He had not seem to have read any of the information she sent him about the case. To add, he didn’t even know the date and time of the case. When my cousin mentioned trying to move to North Carolina he was already negative about it before she even got a chance to discuss her reasons. He shared he was going through something similar and seems to have his personal feelings about his situation conflicting with her case. A week before the case he called her while she was at my place. On the phone he carried the same condescending attitude that he had at their meeting. The day of the trial, he canceled the case without even negotiating her custody concerns with the other lawyer. These were fair and justified concerns even if he didn’t discuss North Carolina. He didn’t even ask her permission to dismiss the case. She had tried emailing him and contacting him about it and he doesn’t respond to her. He also didn’t respond much to her emails throughout the case. She didn’t feel confident that he had her best interest through most of the case and he proved her right. He didn’t even call any of her witnesses. I only got to say my piece because I came with her to the only meeting they had before the case. He also didn’t negotiate some of her custody concerns, even the ones he agreed should be revised. He made her feel like he was doing her a favor (yes she was paying him) but had not done much to help her.

Cheryl is extremely unprofessional and waits to the last minute to review/work on your case. She went out of town for 10 days and never notified me so that I would know my timeline. She racks up her bill by doing rewrites/ reviews of the documents instead of having a simple meeting with the opposed team. Pads her bill by having conversations with her assistant daily, so you are billed twice for the same conversation.
When I scheduled an appointment to discuss the bill, which took four (4) weeks, she did NOT have anything in front of her to justify her time.
Her response to why I was upset is that I did not get what I wanted.
I just wanted to pay for services that should have been provided and not perked around and overcharged by twice the amount than what I should have been billed
I would NOT recommend her firm.

Collected retainer up-front. Impossible to get in touch with. When I did hear back from him it would take a month of contact, only to have him not remember anything about my case.
It took a full year to get a court date. He gave me the wrong court date, getting my case dismissed. He never showed up at court, even on the date he did me. And is now ignoring my contacts. He has not so much as returned a call or email in the two months since he got my case tossed out.
Avoid. He just took my money and ghosted me.

I would highly recommend this firm. In particular Spencer Beckman and Paralegal, Jenny Peshoff. I only met with Spencer once for my initial consultation, but he was very friendly, professional, and down to earth. My mind was put at ease very quickly. The majority of my time was spent working with Jenny Peshoff and she was incredibly responsive, timely, and always friendly. During the few times that I visited the office in person, the staff was always courteous and very helpful. I would highly recommend both Spencer and Jenny - they are a great team! The one thing I appreciated most was the "non-lawyer speak" they used when speaking with me so that I understood exactly what was happening every step of the way.

I had a situation with a Protective Order. Spencer won the case for me in a spectacular fashion. The opposing counsel went on and on but Spencer's thorough and deep understanding of the law made him pinpoint what is important and relevant and what the judge needed to hear to win the case for me. I was so happy that day. In my opinion, he is the best in his business. If you are looking for an attorney, look no more. Just hire Spencer. He is your man... I will forever be in his debt for what he did for me. He is just an amazing lawyer!

My husband and I, as we enter our retirement years, retained Magner Law for an advanced planning and estate planning engagement. Unfortunately, we were very unhappy with the quality of the work product -- particularly the inattention to detail. We anticipated receiving Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, a Trust, and other products, that would provide us comfort and assurance regarding our healthcare and financial wishes. Instead, we were unable to use the products provided by Magner Law and must now contemplate hiring new counsel, and incur an additional expense, to meet our needs.

We had a great experience working with Mr. McClafferty. Mr. McClafferty got into every little detail of our case, and presented the matter in a truly professional way.
We were appealing several violation notices that our HOA’s Architectural Committee sent us regarding our property. One notice was actually directly violating our rights as the residents of our Community. The second one was at the discretion of ARC whether or not to rule in our favor. Mr. McClafferty submitted a letter of appeal on our behalf to the Board. The letter was extremely well-written and presented both cases to the Board beautifully! We won both cases we were appealing for.

The other party was not understanding or sympathetic at all that my family went through a very long and tough time with identity theft which lead us to this case. I just won a tough trial.
I never expected I would see this kind of devoted lawyer on earth. I could not remember details in my case sometimes but he never missed any events, dates and words. He did so concentrate on the trial, it looked like he forgot about outside world. I really appreciate his professional commitment. Even though I demanded a little unique wishes, he completely respected and made me achieve what I wanted so much.

I retained Mr. Conners at a high rate, with assurances that he would be handling the case. I was pawned off to one of his newer less experienced attorneys when he did not make an appearance at my court date (went to a different clients date instead). I was then over billed in hours for them to deliberate with each other (often doing the same tasks multiple times) and each work on different strategies, as well as a final bill for hours that did not exsist.
Lack of communication in the firm and what I would consider unethical billing practices.

Mr. Connors is affable and quite knowledgeable about the law. His firm is small. Which turned out to be a deficit in my case as he was easily overwhelmed by the “big boys” of opposing counsel’s firm. As a consequence, The legal fees quickly spiraled out of control and greatly exceeded the budget and the end result was not as good as I had hoped.

William Conners represented me as defense counsel in a contentious family law case against an aggressive Fairfax attorney and an even more aggressive, litigious, and vindictive ex-spouse. This review is meant to be helpful for prospective clients, so here is my candid assessment of what you will get with Mr. Conners:
- A top notch legal professional who is about as knowledgeable about family law as I've ever seen. Anywhere.
- He will take your case very seriously; he will sit with you to formulate the most effective legal strategy and he will be direct and honest about setting realistic expectations.
- He is one of the most efficient attorney's out there; he will work on preparing your case professionally and coherently.
- He is passionate about the law and his profession: He cares about your case as if it's his own.
- Unlike many lawyers out there, he is not out to run up the hours and drain your wallet.
- His level of preparation before trial is superb. Going to trial is always stressful, but you go into trial feeling confident knowing that you have an attorney who is thoroughly prepared for your case and positioned to win.
- He's is very responsive; unless he's tied up in court he responds to emails within hours (or less).
In the court room:
- At trial, he's focused on one thing and one thing only: Winning your case.
- He has absolute command of the court room and respect of the judge.
- I was absolutely astounded by the professionalism and court room acumen demonstrated by Mr. Conners at my trial.
- His vast knowledge of the family law enables him to make very succinct and clear legal arguments in support of his client's case.
- His vast knowledge of family law also enables him to effectively discredit opposing counsel's arguments that are not based on fact or law.
- His cross-examination of witnesses is on-point and quickly exposes their weaknesses.
- Like a legal maestro, his delivery of arguments is articulate, factual, and convincing.
Summary: If you have a challenging family law case and you are looking for the best family attorney you can get, Mr. Conners has certainly earned that tile.

Do not expect Mr. Robl to keep track of the time he has worked on your case, or to provide you with accurate information. Ask him every time you speak to him how many hours you have left on your retainer, and make sure it matches your records.
In my case, Mr. Robl informed me that I still had money left on my retainer, but would need to provide him with additional money soon. I advised him that I did not have any additional money and therefore I needed to settle my case (which I did immediately). Shortly thereafter, I received a bill for a very large amount of money. When I reached out to Mr. Robl to clear up these charges, he explained that the information he had previously provided was not accurate. I was upset to hear it, and didn't have the money he was now saying that I owed him. I went back to check all of my records, and still did not come up with the hours he was claiming to have worked on my case. When I called him back in attempt to work something out, he would not answer. I left multiple messages. He refused all of my phone calls and emails, and never responded to me again. Rather than speak to me, someone he was representing, he SUED me, resulting in a judgement. Adding insult to injury, he actually included his legal fees (not just costs) for representing himself in the lawsuit! Please be very cautious when considering Mr. Robl to represent you. I've never felt so wronged before in my life, and would hate for anyone else to go through what I did.

Mr. Grossman wrote a trust to cover my own needs and a second Supplemental Needs Trust for the care of a family member. I knew very little about trusts in general and nothing at all about Supplemental Needs Trusts. He explained both to me in careful detail so that I know that my estate will be used as I intend. During the process there were several major changes in my family which necessitated multiple revisions of the Trust. He helped me look at the various ways to construct the trust so that I could make well informed decisions. He provided witnesses and a notary for the signing of both trusts.
A few weeks after my trust was completed I realized that I had made a mistake in some information that I had provided. It required a rewrite of one of the trusts and another witnessed signing and notarization. Again, he provided all persons required for this process.
He is a very pleasant person who made a complex process easy and comprehensible. I can recommend him without reservation.

Mr. Grossman was hired to assist my family with trust and estate planning. When we were presented with the documents, neither of the witnesses information was correct. We had provided him this information on several instances, per his request, and we were extremely frustrated to find none of the information had been updated given we planned this meeting with out of town family specifically for this purpose. When asked about the incorrect information, he refused to acknowledge his error and was unapologetic. His competence is questionable at best and his arrogance is unparalleled—I would not recommend him to anyone as it was a complete waste of time and money.

I hired him to assist me in a stopping child support order being enforced in VA. No one could figure out has yet to figure out how to stop it even though he was hired to find out what I needed to do. Pretty much wasted my time and money. It was hard to get ahold oh him and sometimes too 3-5 days to get back to me with no new news.
