Ms. Cooper represented me in a breach of contract lawsuit which resulted in a very successful settlement of the matter. I found Ms. Cooper to be responsive, efficient, and always kept me informed of the current status of my matter. I would certainly retain Ms. Cooper again if the need arises in the future, and I feel confident referring her firm to my business associates.

She was swift, accurate, competent, knowledgeable, creative in finding solutions across borders, committed, flexible and compassionate. She is also knowledgeable of the Italian legal system regarding inheritance issues and has a relevant network in Italy. I can highly recommend her. Thank you very much.

I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Hameetman on a complicated real estate matter and was extraordinarily impressed. One would rightly expect a high degree of legal knowledge from any attorney's area of expertise, but what impressed me was the depth of Mr. Hameetman's understanding of the deal from a business perspective (which I find lacking in far too many attorneys). He remained focused on accomplishing the deal and was creative and innovative in finding solutions. Others, I have found, are more interested in creating roadblocks and reasons why NOT to move forward. And so, while all the appropriate cautions and potential pitfalls were discussed, the ability to triumph over adversity (and not just the ability to say "watch out!") is my true measure of excellence -- as to which, I am delighted to share, Mr. Hameetman has no equal.

He responds to all inquiries promptly, always has relevant and useful answers to general or specific questions, and fairly represents the time and interaction with me and my staff. I've battle Dan Goodkin of Goodkin & Lynch in Los Angeles on a major contractor fraud case. His legal skills are superb. The case took five years to conclude, with about 2,000 filings and included 19 defendants. If you have a real estate problem, Mr. Goodkin is a great lawyer to hire for representation. I even tried bringing Mr. Goodkin in one of my cases as co-counsel.

I strongly recommend Robert Sheinbein to all who need the services of an attorney. I am so satisfied with Robert Sheinbein's services that I feel obligated to let everyone know what kind of an attorney he is. He represented our company when we were sued, and due to his knowledge and skill the other party settled without us having to pay anything to them. That is not all. He recovered the money that we had paid him for his services by reviewing our business insurance policy and determining that we were covered for the legal fees. We had no idea that our business insurance even had that coverage. Surely, after reviewing the policy, Mr. Sheinbein sent several letters to the insurance company after which we were finally reimbursed the legal fees on this matter. Mr. Sheinbein also represented my father in a different matter and had settled the case to his satisfaction. The way this man works amazes me. He is thorough in examining the case and very informative in explaining it to you. He tells you the different possibilities that may arise from the case and how each possibility could be handled. He gives you enough information so that you, yourself can make the right decision regarding the case. Even though he is very persistent in collecting documents required for the case (which by the way works for your benefit), he is very nice and tactful all of the time. His charges were very fair and reasonable; and his billing detailed all of his time, work and expenses. Lastly, I am very certain that Robert Sheinbein is the best attorney out of all the attorneys that I have met in my life. I have been lucky to find him.

Five words describe Jonathan: caring, competent, personal, tireless, unrelenting. Last February, I hired J.P. to get my inheritance from a sluggish passive-aggressive trustee. My former attorney, to whom I had paid nearly $20,000, did little during the year. But when J.P. took the case, the tables quickly turned in my favor. He really kept the trustee and her attorney in line. What's more, J.P. obtained more money for me than anticipated—and months ahead of schedule. I recommend Jonathan Park wholeheartedly.

I retained Russ to represent me in a very complex legal dispute. The dispute was with a large multinational organization that was able and willing to spend significantly more resources than me. As I said, the litigation was very complex. It involved litigating two arbitration cases and two federal civil cases - at the same time. During this process I came to appreciate and respect just how good Russ is at his craft. Russ was able to navigate us through these multiple cases and complex proceedings. He developed a narrative for our position (one that I had not even considered) and positioned the arguments to our strengths. Mind you, he was doing this while being bombarded by three opposing legal firms and a gaggle of a dozen or more contentious attorneys. There were times where it was just Russ and me in a room with 10-12 opposing lawyers. As intimidating as that might be to some, it was not to Russ. He defended me and my position with vigor, skill & solid arguments. I believe the opposing counsels came to realize - pretty quickly - that they were not going to intimidate Russ. Russ and I went through this highly charged contest for two years. One cannot help but learn something about a person when spending that much time - in a high stress environment with them. Here is what I learned. Russ is a consummate professional. No matter how the opposing side tried to get under his skin or treat him with disrespect, his responses were always cool and level headed. Russ is a strategic thinker always looking to position for the "end-game". Russ is excellent at cross examination and he knows how to develop and present arguments that will carry the day. Russ is also passionate about practicing "law". I once asked Russ if my case was difficult. He said "yes", then added, "but it is cases like these - the bully vs. the little guy - that made me want to go to law school.....lawyers dream of defending cases like this". It is that kind of passion about exercising his craft of "law" that, I believe, makes Russ a great lawyer. In case you are wondering. We prevailed in all of our cases - two arbitrations and two civil cases. It was a complete victory and Russ was the one responsible for making it happen. I cannot recommend Russ highly enough to anyone looking for a great advocate.

My home was in the process of being sold and I lost my case in the trial court because the judge made bizarre rulings and would not let me hire another lawyer to replace my prior lawyer who after taking my money abandoned me. Mr. Klein took over my case and took it to the appeal court and was successful in convincing three judges to reverse the trial court decision. All efforts to foreclose and evict me have been halted! I found Mr. Klein to be dependable and caring.

I initially contacted Claire S. Fox of The Law Firm Of Fox And Fox regarding my father’s Trust after he passed away. The Trustee was refusing to provide any information about the Trust, refused to provide a copy of the Trust, refused to provide financial status of the Trust and refused to account. I was denied my rights as a beneficiary of the Trust. Claire S. Fox of The Law Firm Of Fox And Fox provided intellectual guidance and instructions. I followed and communicated with Fox over a period of months before I retained Fox. I have been a trial attorney for more than 16 years and have no experience in the Trust, Estate Planning, probate, wills and trust, and conservatorship proceedings. With Fox’ brilliance, I collected my entitled share and Fox and her partner, Frank O. Fox, were able to obtain an Order surcharging the Trustee and had the Trustee removed from the Trust. Although the procedure took over 3 years due to Trustee’s relenting adversarial position, it was well worth it. what a relief thanks to FOX

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.

Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
