Natasha took over of my case half way through. It should be a simple one when the parts sit and agree on something. It never happened, so Natasha came for the final round(s) and she kicked ass. Her energy was the best, always positive. I never felt intimidated during the meetings when she was next to me. Thank you Natasha Chesler.

Dana has been a trustworthy, thorough, efficient, reliable, prompt, knowledgeable, communicative, dedicated, & kind lawyer that helped me navigate the very complicated & scary DUI court process twice. I felt that her up front fee was more than fair & that she has done a good deed for me. I was very fortunate that I did not lose my job as a result of my DUIs, & Dana has always been available & willing to represent me on Court dates so that I don't have to call off work. Dana really does care about her clients & goes above & beyond in her assistance.

Morris prepared a trust for my husband and I as well as both our wills and other legal documents. He was absolutely fantastic. I was really a pain as a client. He sent the documents promptly for signature after they were prepared and I was horrible about returning them. He was incredibly patient and gently reminded me until I reviewed and executed them. I can't say enough good things about his work. I have recommended him to my colleagues and my own clients.

William is by far the best APD ever. He is extreamly knowledgable and informative. He is on top of returning calls or messages. He is a lawyer that is extreamly emotionally involved in his cases therefore making him the best APD to ever represent any client in court. I highly recommend him as an attorney to represent you in any case. If he is asked a question and its not his "field" of law he will tell you "That is not my area of law" not try to pretend he knows. He is an extreamly honest person and attorney. Your very lucky if you ever have this man represent you in front of the courts.

Mike helped me out for my 3rd DUI case involving a car accident in Los Angeles. He brought my case down from a felony to a misdemeanor and kept me out of jail. After 2 years he still keeps me updated in DMV and in court to make sure I have everything I need! I definitely recommend Attorney Mike Kwon for all DUI related cases!

I wish I had someone like Courtney Selan handling all aspects of my life. She handled a complicated and serious legal problem I had and was fantastic. I have an extensive criminal record and have been represented to by everyone from the best money can buy/trial attorneys you read about in the newspapers to the worst of the court appointeds and Arvin is an absolutely magician. He did for me what no other attorneys thought possible and he did it for half the price. I was in prison in Michigan awaiting extradition to California to serve a 2yr sentence and I hired Arvin. He got the judge to lift his extradition warrant and allow me to appear solely on Mr. Sachdeva's word that I would be there. I was released in Michigan with no parole, which is absolutely unheard of in this state because they were under the impression that I was already sentenced to 2yrs in CA and would then be on parole there when I got out. This was more than just an impression as it is what the official extradition paperwork reflected and the judge had ordered. I appeared in court in Orange County with Mr. Sachdeva by my side and the judge revoked my sentence and re-sentenced me to time served and allowed me to return to MI, NO PAROLE, NO PROBATION. The judge told me you can thank your attorney as he's been in my courtroom countless times fighting for you and prepared an absolutely phenomenal motion arguing for what I'm about to do, SENTENCE SUSPENDED! I had been sentenced to 2yrs for absconding from probation, leaving the state and picking up 5 new felony charges. Arvin answered my numerous out of state phone calls from prison and worked harder for me than any of the countless attorneys I've hired in the past, most of whoms names are recognized in legal circles nationwide. If I ever were to be in trouble in CA again I'd rather have Arvin one my side than any Harvard educated trial attorney. Judges respect him and he works harder than any attorney I've ever seen. #1 on my list of up and coming super lawyers!

I would recommend her to my friends and family. We went into the courtroom with a plan and the judge approved it. She won my Child Custody case. Outstanding work! Thank you Vanessa!

Jody was assigned to me as my public defender when I had to deal with a drug charge a few years back. I was basically ready to simply plead guilty and pay the fine/attend the classes/do whatever I needed to do to move on with life. After hearing the details of the case, Jody recommended I plead not guilty. I did so and the case was put on hold for a few months. On the next court date I was astounded at the amount of preparation he put into making all of the points to make the case. I don’t want to butcher the legal lingo, but I really really really appreciated what he did for me and the outcome HE created. I think about Jody on a regular basis and figured I’d look him up and was surprised he didn’t have any reviews yet…figured I needed to be the first! Thanks again so much…I know I’m just a blip in your 10000 cases, but you’re incredible at what you do and it doesn’t go unnoticed.

Steve was recommended by a very dear friend when I was not quite sure if my financial situation warranted filing for Bankruptcy. I did wait but unfortunately, my situation did not improve. In the interim period, Steve helped me make some decisions which proved favorable to my future, subsequent to filing for Bankruptcy. When I did file, the circumstances where not simple and cut and dry. Also, I filed days before significant changes in the Bankruptcy laws went into affect, and Steve made sure that I was aware of the changes. He took the time to consider all of the possible outcomes of my case, taking into consideration, future legal implications. Not only is he an incredibly knowledgeable attorney, he's kind, compassionate and realizes the emotional agony financial hardships can bring. Overall, the results of my case worked very much to my benefit. I absolutely recommend Steve!

I spoke with several different attorneys to discuss my case with a past employer. It was not a clear, black & white case. I was most impressed with Frank. He asked me to come in and meet him in person to discuss my case, after discussing my case over the phone. He had his partner at the law firm, Laura join our meeting. They both asked me a lot of questions and follow up questions and then deliberated with each other, including me in the conversation. I liked the time and effort Frank took to learn about all of the details before letting me know that the case could be an uphill case, but that he was willing to take my case. He made no grandiose promises and explained to me how tough the case could get. I met with 2 other well reviewed law firms who also offered to take my case. I just felt that Frank was more through and thoughtful in learning all that was involved. I also really liked that even thought its a small law firm, both partners took time to meet with me, adding perspective and combined experience.  Frank has a measured, sincere, matter of fact demeanor, which I really like. As we went back and forth trying to reach a settlement with my former employer, he advised me, but always told me the decision was mine. Frank never made me feel stupid or dismissed in any way. He build report and a mutual respect quickly with my former employers legal team, which I think helped.  Although it took longer than we would have liked, Frank won a more favorable result than either of us expected. Frank is a real professional, sensitive and with great instincts. If he takes your case, be patient and trust his experience. While I hope I never need to, I would recommend any close family or friends to Frank Magnanimo.

My company turned to Mr. Good to help us wade through an extremely complex license agreement for a brand expansion into a new market. We were dealing with a very sophisticated licensor and we had no prior licensing experience. We were worried about brand dilution, loss of control, and a long term obligation with little benefit. There were many issues to discuss and their lateral impact on the overall deal. Mr. Good and his team were able to decipher the agreements individual pieces, analyze the key issues of impact, and present a multitude of options. They were very responsive to our input and the end product was an agreement that not only makes us happy, it was fair to both parties. I have had several other issues that we have used Mr. Good and his firm on, including copyright infringement enforcement of our website, trademark infringement enforcement and lease agreement negotiations. Every time it is the same positive experience, helpful legal insight, and quick responsiveness. Mr. Good is helpful at showing us what the typical terms of these agreements are, what our leverage could possibly change, what issues might not to change, and what options we have to work around things in order to get what we want. I realize that putting 5 stars in each category may undermine this reviews authenticity, but I have absolutely no reason to lower a single mark in all the times my company has hired him.

Zoe was my attorney for a settlement case involving my company and an employee that file a fraudulent claim seeking over $100,000.00 for perceived damages. Zoe was a tactical and strategic defender. She used her resources, showed her ability to recognize the skills or lack of ability that the opposing counsel displayed. Zoe was very professional in her judgement and assessment which kept me focused on the issues and not let my emotions intervene. She was direct and knew the right approach to bring the opposing counsel down to $21,000.00 for the settlement. This to me was amazing. Based on Zoe's professional ability, I will always call upon her to represent me or my company. I will also strongly recommend her to my business associates and friends. Zoe's performance bring back great credit to the legal community.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
