I was walking across PCH, a main highway in LA. The light was green and was hit by a fast incoming car. I was immediately sent to the ER. I never experienced anything like that, and to make it worse, I had to move across the state to attend college. I made the bold move to hire an attorney. I never had to make that call before. But when I contacted Brian, I was immediately relieved to have an attorney (Brian) who guided me to what my rights are. The driver who hit me had Geico Insurance. The reason I mention Geico is that every insurance company handles all there claims differently. Which Geico is the worst. Nothing like USAA. Brian, had a doctor visit me and constantly informed me not to worry about anything except my health and school. What I applaud Brian the most, is that he had my utmost support. He battled over and over and with Geico when they first started to offer the lowest amount they could, that would barely cover all the medical expenses I was incurring. That didn't stop Brian. I made sure to let him know that he had my total belief that whatever he recommended, I would agree. In the end, Brian battled and battled through with Geico, and we were able to get a great settlement. Brian was already ready to take my case to trial. In all, if you get injured, you don't want to deal with it alone. Hire Brian, and he will fight for your justice.

Creditors kept calling me day and night until my friend recommend Attorney Julie Aragon. I owed over 70k in credit card debt, and Ford Motor Credit was garnishing 25% of my wages each month. I paid a total of 1299 for all the paperwork and Mrs. Aragon came to court with me in Los Angeles, and immediate stopped the harassment. Within minutes, I had peace of mind and relief from one of the most stressful experiences in my life.

Having had to deal with attorney's in the past it was refreshing to find someone who called me back, listened to what I had to say, got me more than I expected, and overall made a terrible experience more than bearable. You won't find a nicer, more compentent attorney out there, and I highly reccomend him.

I was a juror in a week long trial and Ms Lindner was the defense attorney. She was the epitome of professionalism, class, integrity and competence. Never at any point did she degrade the witnesses or insult the intelligence of jurors by deceitful games; opposite to the plaintiff's arrogant and unethical behavior. She remained respectful and followed the law and courtroom etiquette. We need more attorneys like Ms Judith Lindner in our not so just justice system. BTW, her case won.

Payam represented my business in an ADA and premises liability matter, where my business was being sued together with my landlord for personal injury. He was always diligent about every aspect of the case, and always very accessible. He explained everything to me very carefully, and put everything into perspective. I am the kind of person that worries a lot. I found him very knowledgable and he helped reduce my anxiety about the lawsuit tremendously. Thanks to his hard work, he sought and obtained a dismissal from the Plaintiff very early on. My business was not liable for one penny. I could not have asked for a better lawyer to defend me. Thank you and God bless you Payam!

Fast, efficient, and knowledge about real estate transactions, and land use. Hired him for 2 different cases and proved to be very successful in getting what I needed done. There was no need to spend additional fees as he was able to look out for my best interest and have all issues taken care in a very timely manner. He is not interested in billing me for unnecessary hours and dragging my cases out.

I can't say enough about Alan Nicolette and how much my family appreciates all he did in respresenting my mother Fran. Most medical mal practices cases take forever. My mother has stage 4 cancer. Alan and his associates were so helpful, caring and always there for my mother. Alan loved my mother's humor and she developed a wonderful relationship with him. Her case was settled quickly and she does not have her health back but he made sure she received a nice settlement she can atleast enjoy and has made her comfortable. He is the best!

Rick Barone won my personal injury case when other attorneys at his firm & outside firms, warned him not to take the case, because the Forbes 500 company I was suing, held my long term ailment against me. I was injured at my employers company & I would have fallen on that particular day, with or without my prior ills. Rick hired engineers across the country to survey the injury site & it was proven that the structure of their grounds/property was a danger to all. Mr. Barone did not stop investigations until he exhausted all demonstrations & arguments. I highly recommend Rick Barone.

Lawyers are needed at different times in all of lives for various reason.Bankruptcy is a very sensitive issue. There are so many attorneys out there to assist with this matter. Some promise this can be done or other can do this for only"for a low fee" .There are many different advertising approaches that are used.Attorney Yancy has no big gimmick or no "for only 400" I can save your home and diginity approach.Let me tell you first hand I had a very complicated chap. 13 case.It involved divorce issues that were not resolved tax issues that were out of control even to the point of going physically to the IRS,lengthy other issues that the average attorney would not go te distance for their client or have the knowledge tohandle.Although Attorney Yancy is not an tax attorney I can attest that with his dedication I had a debt with the IRS for 52,000.00 in previous taxes. After going and meeting with the IRS my taxes are now less than 8,000, I am still in my home,I still have my cars and even more I don't have the feeling of being a failure that is usually associated with bankruptcy filings. One thing that sets Attorney Yancy above many others, is he is truly a man of God and holds himself to that standard. Thanks Attorney Yancy your professionalism and dedication have changed my life in way that now I can move forward with my head up and my burdens lifted!

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
