Mr. Browning was hired for a criminal matter in Delaware County and I am very pleased with the outcome. Mr. Browning was by side during the whole process offering the best legal representation possible for me. Thanks to Mr. Browning I was never arrested and was able to walk away from the case with no charges. He really works with you and his firm makes you feel like family. I would recommend this lawyer a thousand times.

he never calls back clients. He doesn't always show up for hearings he sends an associate who knows nothing about your case. He never goes to see the incardinated unless its the first time to speak to them in which he tells nothing but lies stating what he can do for them. He takes your money and then you don't hear from him. I wouldn't get this lawyer for my child if he/she was in need. he is a horrible criminal attorney. please do not waste your money. believe me. I know a lot of inmates that used him and they all say the same thing. I spoken to wives mothers of inmates who used him.

I reached out to this law firm to just explain a situation I was having with my landlord. I wasn’t seeking a lawyer but just had one legal question I was hoping maybe they could answer for me. I inquired online which sends an email to notify their office. When I received a response, it was an accidental response that one of the members had meant to send to to all of his colleagues, that read “now this one we do not want” . I never received legal help nor hired a lawyer from this firm , & my review is no reflection on how they handle their actual clients or legal cases , however it is a proper representation of my experience with them.

I highly Recommend Gibson & Perkins. I have used their services for approximately 6 years now and been through a few cases together with very positive outcomes. Personally, I have used Paul Fellman and Walter Timby on those occasions. Both, as a team & separately these Attorneys were wonderful to work with and easily accessible to reach if I had any questions. Professionalism is the word that comes to mind to describe the firm, as a whole. Always completely prepared for any surprises that may pop up during a trial. They were well versed on all pertinent info pertaining to each case. As I client, I always felt I was an integral part of the team, not an after-thought, that had to be brought up to speed a half hour before the trial started. I could not recommend this firm and Mr. Fellman and Mr. Timby any higher.

Scott Aldridge represented me many years ago in both my divorce and child custody issues. He was superb -- calm, efficient, decent, and a great listener. He stood up for me and my children in our last four-way meeting prior to finishing the agreement -- and, true to form, he predicted the outcome exactly. Through him, I was able to retain my children and my house, and have still managed to be on good terms with my ex husband. Scott always took the high road. I commend him without reservation or hesitation.

Had an appointment set up to discuss my case, when I showed up to my scheduled appointment Matthew didn’t. His office was locked up as if nobody was home. I made three calls to his office and left a voicemail to boot. Still waiting on his response. Why set up and agree to give consultation then not show up? Unprofessional to say the least. Lawyers are a dime a dozen, so go somewhere else please don’t waste your time here.

Donna is extremely unprofessional and downright rude. I am a professional in the field and had to work with her on a case. She was easily swayed by opinions and struggled to focus on the actual facts of the case. Her style of communication is yelling and talking over you, and she often has little evidence to back up the very skewed claims that she makes. I don’t know how she gets any work at all.

This attorney was assigned to me and she refuses to give me my 300.00 back she said she sent it to 19131. thanks she never helped me and it was through legal aid or senior law center and she always treated me rude abrupt and nasty on the phone. beware of this person. I told her if she doesn't make sure I get my money I will sue her in court for my money she owes me and her last words were good luck with that and hung up the phone. Wow

I hired Donna to get a PFA for my young child. She.misrepresented my case by saying that she would be able to get me the PFA so I signed the contract and sent the payment. However on day of the hearing, she was unprepared and she couldn’t argue the defense lawyer. Afterward her attitude suddenly changed, and said that I pursue a PFA for selfish reasons and some other untruthful things she copied from the defendant’s lawyer. She charges hourly and I was charged for phone calls I made to discuss about payment. With the case dragged unnecessarily by her, the bill skyrockets so fast and there will be more bill.

I hired Lindsay to represent me at a preliminary hearing. I didn't do what I was being accused of. She reassured me and asked me some questions. The day of hearing she was a beast. She objected to everything. The judge ruled there was not enough evidence and the charges were dismissed. I've never been in trouble before and I was scared, but she was patient with me and reassured me that I would be fine. Very thankful

I hired Lindsay for my fiance for something very serious. I found out she went to the jail my fiance was at and told him she wasn't showing up to court if I didn't send her another send her another $2,000. We agreed upon a certain amount of money and she tried to say I was lying. Lindsay then blocked my cell and and told my fiance that I needed psychiatric help because I yelled at her. I was frustrated with Lindsay because besides my kids he is my everything and i hired her to have his back. She hadn't answered any phone calls. My fiance has never been in jail he was scared for his life and she would not take him seriously any other lawyer would have been there for him. Now imagine the love of your life being arrested on something awful he did not do hiring a lawyer who blocks you because you reacted to her lack of communicating and intimidating your loved one for more money. I'd like to see how she would react. She did her best to make my fiance think I was doing him wrong. I'm glad he's smarter cause I'm pretty sure she was trying to set him to plea on something he didn't do. Lindsay do better. My fiance said she was fired from another inmate who said she did the same thing to her family

Unfortunately, I hired this attorney July 6th of 2024 for a simple assault case, keep in mind, I am an individual that has never been in trouble before. I was in prison when I had my preliminary hearing at the district court for this case. The Judge at the district court was allowing me to go home on bail, under the terms to not have contact with the ‘victim’. At this preliminary hearing the ‘victim’ did not show up, Lindsay also made me waive the preliminary. I’ve never been in trouble before so not having a clue as to what I was doing I put my trust in her… when I arrived back at the prison I called my family and was told that Lindsay would be filing paperwork for the commons plea court to have me put on house arrest which was never part of the deal with the district courts, especially not for a simple assault case on an individual with no priors! I fired her immediately after consulting with a different attorney who was perplexed by how things were being done by Lindsay, my new attorney called the district court and they have confirmed that house arrest was never part of the deal! She not only lied to my family and I about what the terms for my release were but she also told me “you’re looking at some time bud”. I do not recommend her to anyone with a criminal case! She will not make you feel any better. She is not reassuring. She claims to have “worked hard” to make a “deal” with the district for my release. You will feel like she’s not there to help you, as if she wasn’t on your side but the other side that is against you, because that’s exactly how she made me feel.

Michael met with my wife and me at least three separate times, as we updated our wills, power of attorney and advanced healthcare directive. Before we even discussed the "paperwork", he was so careful to discuss all of the alternatives on trustees, investment considerations and our own personal needs and directives. Never once did we feel like we were being handed a "boiler plate" or "cookie cutter" solution to our wills and other estate matters. The staff at Pierce/Hughes was extremely attentive and followed through with meeting arrangements, copies of the needed paperwork and other items to make this necessary process bearable.Through Mike and his team, we have been able to achieve peace of mind and also know that he will be there in the future for us and our children if needed.

I retained Michael Handley's legal services in October of 2020. I fully trusted that he had my best interest at heart, and that he would fight to get me the best settlement, wrong. Months went by without a word from Michael Handley. When Michael finally reached out to me, it was by phone, a 50 minute chat about how, personal injury is not his field. You didn't do enough to help this man for a case to be pushed back for about 2 years basically gave this man time to change his life around to not have 1 but 2 jobs to come so far from who he was in the beginning to who he is now you should have fought harder for him his character was disrespected in front of others claims made about him that wasn't true knowing he made changes in his life found a job was employee of the month that letter alone shows he progress his supervisor also stated what type of person he was and how she woukd love for him to continue at the company. probation was enough he has no prior record never got in to any trouble came to court every time on time and showed respect were was the work release papers? Why didn't you fight harder for this man that clearly changed his life why judge his past and not congratulate him on his progress and how far he had come within them few years of waiting and waiting and waiting instead of letting him move forward and continue to make those who truly love him proud you and Linda A Cartisano pushed him back we all make mistakes in life I'm sure u made many of them but who r we to judge what we truly don't know it's one thing to to make a mistake and keep making them over and over and over but then u have sam brown who redeemed himself who went out got help the same help u guys should've offered him he cleaned his life upnhe never was no harm to anybody sam is the most nicest person anybody would ever meet people like u will never understand what's it like to grow up in a very low poverty area with a mother who was back and forth serving this country to becoming an addict to becoming one of the most import ppl in our lives u will never understand not being able to have certain resources and help as I'm pretty sure u had growing up sam doesn't deserve to be n jail but more so he deserves to be able to continue his positive journey in life that u didn't fight for he deserved better and better representation

I hired Mark D. Freeman of Media, PA as my attorney. Since I was a recent widow and had no family I made him my POWER OF ATTORNEY only in the event that I became incapacitated He had been referred to me with very high recommendations. I was in a difficult situation and didn't know what to do. I made the mistake of signing before the documents were completed. I knew that there wasn't time while I was in the office for the document to be typed and completed and I trusted what he said. Attorney Mark Freeman added ADDITIONAL POWERS to the Power Of Attorney that we had NEVER discussed nor had I agreed upon the things that he wrote in as additional powers. Some of the things that were written into the POWER OF ATTORNEY without my consent :1. Make a gift 2. Create or change rights of surviorship. 3. Create or change a beneficiary designation. There were several other powers added under additional powers. When I first e-mailed him about this I did not receive a response. After e-mailing him a few times he eventually e-mailed me back and said that these were hot spots and I could have them removed if I wanted to. I told him that I wanted to have these things removed and I also wanted to talk to him about why he added these additional powers without first discussing them with me and without my approval. I told him that I wanted to set a time that we could talk about this on the phone. I gave him some options of time. He said that we could discuss them but didn't respond when I tried to set up a time. These things were never discussed. I told him that I was moving to FL and time was of the essence. These things were still not discussed. Once I moved to FL I expressed the fact that I was disappointed in him and asked him just to mail back to me all of the legal documents. To his credit he did mail everything back to me. I have relocated to Boca Raton, FL and I am in a retirement home. I am in the process of looking for another attorney. I do not have family or next of kin so I am greatly concerned about the issue of POWER OF ATTORNEY. I feel that I was taken advantage of because of my circumstances of being a recent widow without family and next of kin.

Where should I start this lady is just awful. I paid $300 for the office consultation where she explained how and what she could do for me in court. I agreed she made it seem like it was a easy case for her. The fee was $1500.00 I said OK. Before the court hearing I had already dropped off my file in her off which I provided her with proof, text messages, pictures of the other party it meant nothing she never went over anything. The day of the court case she preceeded to tell me I have no case and started talking to me very disrespectful and loud in the lobby. I was furious I didn't understand why would you wait till the day of court and not tell me when I first presented you with everything I had at the 1 hour consultation for $300.00. It's so much I could say honestly she is a liar who will promise you the world until she gets your money and then things change. I never had an lawyer this terrible, rude, and just down right a crook. THE WORST LAWYER EVER! Don't hire her and look elsewhere! I don't right reviews but I was compelled too never have I ever experienced anything like this!

I hired mr smith to represent my son in a criminal case in 2009, and mr smith said he was a threat to society, and mentally ill. In addition he handed my sons entire file over to opposing counsel and the district attorney. Mr. Smith did not return phone calls or have meetings with me, but instead told me to leave his office. If you are hoping for a good outcome do not hire this lawyer

Nelson was the counsel for a seller, I was the buyer and had to work through Nelson. Over a 11 day period... Nelson took days to call back, after multiple calls and multiple emails, finally called to tell me that we did not win the bid for the house. I come to find out that even though my letter of intent AND my AOS said that I would cover closing costs, along with phone conversations confirming the fact, the seller told me that wasn't conveyed to him. It cost me the deal. I found it very odd how this played out. Attention to detail is not his strong suit.

Mr. Van Rensler did help us out of a tight spot and took on my son's case when we were surprised by last minute notification to appear at a hearing. However, that is the extent of the positive side of our experience with him as our attorney. We were served documents the day before a major holiday and told to appear in court the following Monday morning. Mr. Van Rensler showed up as promised. He sat in the room during my son's intake and made small talk with me then, in the court room, asked the judge for a continuance as he had just taken us on as clients and needed to familiarize himself with the case. Not long after that day, I received a letter from him with the figures pertaining to his fee for that day as well as his retainer fee. I called his office and spoke with his secretary to let her know that I would need some time to see if I could raise the money needed for the retainer. I was told, "well you still owe him 'X' amount" for the work he had already done the day of our first hearing date. I sent that first check and called back a few days later. I made arrangements with his secretary to make two payments for the remainder of his retainer fee. I wasn't able to provide exact dates of when they would be sent, but I assured her the balance would be paid before our next hearing date. It turned out I was able to send one check for the entire remaining balance, instead of two. (That background is relevant, I promise). There was slightly more than one month between the initial court appearance and the next. During that time, we received three mailed letters: his bill, a copy of his request for documents, and copies of those documents. He never spoke to myself or my son and we had no idea what he intended to do or how he intended my son plead to the charges against him. On the morning of our most recent court date, we waited at juvenile court for our attorney. We saw him walk past us, speak to one of the women at the desk, then exit. He never acknowledged us or interacted in any way. The juvenile probation staff member, to whom we had been speaking, approached the woman Mr. Van Rensler had just spoken with. He then informed us that Mr. Van Rensler had gone up to the desk and stated, "I haven't been paid, so I'm not staying." Needless to say, I was beyond shocked and upset. If he had contacted me or spoken to me at all I could have easily shown him the carbon copy of the mailed check. I also could have issued a new check right then and there and contacted my bank after court to stop payment on the original one. instead, he left us at the doorstep of a hearing with no representation. His display was both unprofessional and unacceptable, not to mention the embarrassment of having it announced to the judge and all those in the courtroom that our attorney wasn't present because he claims he hasn't been paid! To my knowledge, Mr. Van Rensler had been paid and I wish he had the courtesy to contact me if there was a problem.

I used this lawyer and there's not much good to say. His idea backfired and made my legal situation worse and ended up costing me time and money. I told him this was his idea and said " do you want to find a new lawyer". After the situation turned south he gave up on his client and started fighting for himself as if he did something wrong. In the end he couldn't solve the problem. I wish him the best of luck.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
