My husband and I recently worked with Chris and Donna on our first home-buying experience, and we can't say enough good things about Doelger Law! From start to finish, Chris was knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely invested in making the process as smooth as possible for us. As first-time homebuyers, we had lot of questions and concerns, but Chris took the time to explain every step in detail and made sure we fully understood what was happening. His expertise in real estate law was evident, and we felt completely confident with him guiding us through the complexities of the contracts and legalities. Chris was incredibly responsive, always returning calls and emails quickly, and he was there to troubleshoot any issues that came up along the way. His attention to detail was outstanding, catching any potential issues that we would have never noticed. On top of that, his calm demeanor and positive attitude made the entire experience much less stressful than we imagined it could be. We truly felt like he had our best interests at heart. Thanks to Chris, we were able to close on our first home smoothly and without any unexpected hiccups. If you're looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, and personable lawyer to help you with real estate matters, we highly recommend Chris. He’s someone you can trust to have your back!

Frustrating Experience with Suris and Associates I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience with Suris and Associates has prompted me to share my concerns so that others can make informed decisions. After over a year of what I thought would be diligent representation for my case, the firm informed me that they would not be pursuing further actions. Their reasoning? They were unable to contact the insurance company. For a law firm, one would expect a proactive approach, especially in a legal matter that can significantly impact someone’s life. Instead, I felt like my case was put on the back burner as I experienced frustrating delays and a serious lack of communication. Despite my repeated inquiries, there was a notable absence of the effort needed to seek justice. It’s disheartening to anticipate some support in a challenging time only to find yourself poised on the sidelines. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Suris and Associates based on my dismal experience. I hope others have a more positive encounter, but my advice is to keep your options open and consider firms that exhibit the commitment and tenacity every client deserves.

Suri's and associates was recommended by My realtor and I'm so happy for the recommendation. I just closed on July 25th and I cannot praise the attentiveness from Angela who is my Lawyer's Paralegal. Angela was patient and answered all of my questions. I used Crystal Young as my attorney and all my contracts and documents moved smoothly throughout the process. I am so grateful to have been in their hands through this home buying process!

Michael Pfeifer was a great help to my family during a difficult time. Last year, my father fell and broke his hip. Mr. Pfeifer began working with us the day after the accident. My mother needed legal work done and my father's dementia created complications. After surgery, rehab, six weeks at home, and another month in the hospital, it was clear that my father needed institutional care. Thanks to Mr. Pfeifer's efforts, my father's admission to the nursing home went smoothly. Later he qualified for Medicaid. In February of this year, my mother suffered a small stroke. She came home after seven weeks in hospital and rehab. The rehab facility recommended 24-hour aide coverage, but we could only afford it for eight weeks. By successfully completing her Medicaid application, Mr. Pfeifer ensured my mother would have a full-time aide in her own home. What I like about Michael Pfeifer's style is that he uses simple language, not legal jargon. He listens well. His billing method is straightforward. He instills confidence. Michael Pfeifer provides calm reassurance. You may think you have an unsolvable eldercare problem, but he will show you that you don't. Mr. Pfeifer has a plan.

We highly recommend Pfeifer Law. Michael Pfeifer is extremely professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. Michael puts his heart into his work. He really cares and pays attention to the details. We are so very pleased with how Michael handled our estate planning. Everything was explained to us and in a way that was easy to understand. We were very impressed with the care that was taken to make sure everything was done perfectly. Pfeifer Law was highly recommended to us years ago by a friend when my mom needed an Elder Care lawyer. He did such a fantastic job for her that we knew he would do the same for us and he did.

Can not say enough positive things about Michael Pfeifer of Pfeifer Law and his team. Micheal met with my sister and I and helped get my Dad’s assets in order. They also helped us get Dad the home care coverage he needed and deserved after falling ill and guided us through every step of the way during the months long process. They even came to the house to make it easier on my Dad and my siblings when it came time to discuss and sign documents, showing much compassion and patience. We always received quick accurate responses to our many emails and phone calls and we are so thankful for Michael’s knowledge and expertise. I would highly recommend Pfeifer Law to anyone needing assistance with ElderCare.

I am deeply disappointed with my experience at Cona Elder Care Law Firm. I contracted this firm to create a trust for my parents, but the entire process felt more like a business transaction than a genuine effort to assist with our family's needs. The costs initially presented were significantly lower than what I was ultimately billed. They seemed to initiate unnecessary back-and-forth emails and conversations, likely to inflate their billable hours, especially when the mistakes were theirs. Despite charging tens of thousands of dollars to assist with a Medicaid application, the first application was denied under their guidance. We had to reapply, and despite months of work, we essentially had to start over and pay twice for the same service. The most troubling part was after a year and a half when my parents finally had their affairs in order. Once everything was settled, the firm had the audacity to charge me for my siblings' inquiries about removing me as a trustee. This caused significant strain on our family, further compounded by the firm's opportunistic billing practices. It's disheartening to see a firm prioritize profits over genuinely helping families. I would strongly advise against using Cona Elder Care Law Firm if you are looking for a compassionate and transparent experience. Their primary motivation appears to be maximizing their own profits, often at the expense of vulnerable elderly clients and their concerned children.

Tayne Law Group is a solid choice for anyone struggling with debt. The team is professional, empathetic, and knowledgeable about debt relief options. They take the time to explain everything clearly and work with you to find the best solution for your financial situation. While the process can be challenging, the support and guidance from Leslie Tayne and her staff make it manageable. They genuinely care about their clients' financial well being. I can't reccomend Leslie enough.

I'm not one to do reviews . The law office is fine, but Lorraine is a nasty employee who makes the entire experience unpleasant. After paying for over 50% of the fees well before my meeting, I then had a $2,000 balance. I had one more meeting and asked to have $1,000 charged with a balance due of $1,000 at the final meeting. Jennifer marched and demanded payment in full...leaving me wondering why would any firm demand full payment with more work to be completed and why would the firm approve of her strong arming me. A little compromise goes a long way Lorraine, with many of attorneys out there with lovely staff I'd rethink recommending this firm.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
