We hired Mr. McElfish to evaluate corporate tax issues. We explained that we were on a rigid timeline in order to make decisions concerning an impending liquidity event. He boasted about how socially connected he is. The work product did not address our specific concerns and the tax conclusions were dubious. A significant retainer was eaten up without explanations. Access to McElfish was also difficult.

After a mutual friend referred me to Jeff Simon, another friend warned me not to retain his services. I should've listened but retained him anyway. I have regretted it ever since. There are much better, more ethical lawyers out there. Take heed.

I would not recommend Jeff Simon to my worst enemy. Based on my experience, I believe this man would steal from his own mother if he thought he could get away with it. It is disappointing to know attorneys will cheat their own clients. In my opinion, it is people like Mr. Simon that give attorneys a bad name!

I did not have a good experience with this lawyer. I felt as though my case was a low priority until it came time to collect his money. I feel his fees were way out of line for this type of case and the amount of time he put into it. When I confronted him on his exorbitant fees, he became what I perceived as angry, defensive and threatening. I would not recommend this lawyer to anyone.

Katrina provided consultation and it didn’t sound right so I got a second opinion and third. The other two attorneys gave me totally different advice and were spot on. She seemed to be more concerned with getting me as a client as opposed to whether she was the right attorney for this case. I would use her or recommend her.

I retained katrina foley, I provided all the evidence for my case and paid a substantial amount to her. We were very close to a trial when she quit because she wanted more money. She continuously wants to settle. Is very concerned for how the opposition feels. Disclosed information that hurt my case. When we settled she took close to 90% of my settlement money after she verbally agreed she would not do that.

Katrina did a wonderful job giving the opposing counsel whatever they wanted. She charged me $200 consulting fee. After I retained her as my attorney, I never saw or heard from her until a year and a half later she arrived late for our meeting to prep me for my first deposition ever, it was to be on camera. She met with me for no more than 10 min because her next appointment arrived. After 12-13 hours in mediation she allowed the person we were suing to go home and rest because he was exhausted. While we were to go through his assistant with any settlement offers and his assistant would call the him from his bed while we sat and suffer until midnight. She was reading my evidence while we were in mediation, asking me questions as if it was her first time looking at them. She was FaceTiming an event being held for her, giving a speech in the middle of our mediation. She never once defended our demands the entire process. All she wanted to do was settle on any amount and agreed to any requests the apposing council wanted without even asking me. In our mediation she seemed to be “asking” for our offers rather than demanding our offers. After losing this case, she demanded I sign a non-compete and allowed the defendant to continue running their eligal business out of their home.

Putting Esquire after your name does not make you a lawyer. Experience does. Tuan Anthony Nguyen offered to handle a personal injury case for me in order to win my business as a tax client. He did not know what he was doing, and the case went nowhere, settling for a fraction of what it was worth. Tuan Nguyen should have stuck to what he knows - tax filings for small family businesses in Westminster and Huntington beach.

I hired Mr. Nguyen after meeting him at an accounting function, as he also does tax filings in the Vietnamese community. He committed to preparing an estate plan for me and my wife. After obtaining a retainer of $5,000, which he insisted I bring in cash, he discussed various options for living trusts and our separate property, and creating family limited partnerships to protect our assets. His discussion made sense, and we agreed to move forward on the strategy we discussed. 2 months elapsed, and since we had no update, I asked to meet with im. He kept rescheduling. I asked for an email or written update. He provieded nothing. After 6 months and numerous requests, he called and told me that I was a none cooperating client, and that he was not going to work with us anymore. I asked return of retainer. Tuan Nguyen responded by saying tht we owed him money, and he was going to sue us, if we wanted to have a fight with him. He also told my wife that he wuld report us to the IRS for trying to avoid taxes. This claim was false and baseless - mean spirited threat that he as our lawyer should have never made. We decided to just forget this nightmare, and move on to another attorney.

I signed a contract w/David in June this year (2009)- David was to assist me with a divorce (my husband was the petitioner). To make a long story as short as possible- I was never provided w/ a direct number for David. All my calls had to go through his secretary (Ann). When I left messages it would sometimes take days for a return call. The communication was worse than poor. My husband and I decided to reconcile and I requested David cancel our hearing. David waited WEEKS before cancelling and did not answer my emails/phone calls requesting confirmation that he did indeed cancel the hearing. I finally received a voicemail the night before the scheduled hearing. I was also told he had been trying to contact me....but I did not miss any calls (or have any prior voicemails) from him (or his secretary). I was also very shocked when I received my third invoice from his office - the charges listed on the invoice were bogus! He charged me for research I never requested....and I don't even know how he would have researched such items. I believe he was trying to eat up the remaining retainer $ he had in his hands. I have requested multiple times the documentation of this so-called "research"- I still have not been provided any. He phoned me on two occasions regarding my invoice concern....However, he kept claiming he didn't have copies of the invoice w/him and stated his "wife" made up some invoices for him and they might not be correct. I asked him to return my call once he had the invoice in front of him- he called me back a week or so later -STILL NO INVOICE IN FRONT OF HIM TO REVIEW. This Lawyer is typical- ALL HE WANTS IS YOUR $. I don't have one positive thing to say about him (or his secretary)! Pick a different lawyer!

This attorney is only concerned with billing. He is motivated by his own self interest. He does unnecessary work. He could have resolved the case early on for a small amount. He counseled against it and insisted upon preparing the case for trial (expensive). By the time he counseled trying to settle, I had paid out more (to him) than the other side would have taken early on. Plus, with the added expenses and disclosure of more information, the other side demanded more $$$,.
