Anthony Giordano Is arguably one of the greatest legal minds in the profession today. I had 3 felony charges on me... I was released without bail (Anthony did wonders at my arraignment). Then my case was dismissed after trial. Now that's SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING! Tony made the D.A. look like a little school girl.

Last year hired Mr. Giordano to represent me when Ossining Village (NY) said I owed them around $4,000 for parking tickets. Ended up paying only $400, plus Mr. Giordano's very reasonable fee to represent me in court. Last month AGAIN hired him to represent me for 4 more overnight parking tickets that I did not deserve. Mr. Giordano got them all dismissed. This man is a whiz when it comes to parking tickets in Ossining Village!

Got in trouble with local government; got convicted of aggravated harassment 2nd. Hired Mr. Anthony Giordano, Ossining, N.Y. to appeal the conviction. He wrote legal papers and got the case heard in New York's highest court, the NY Court of Appeals. We WON! My conviction was over-turned. NOT GUILTY! Mr. Giordano's papers submitted to the Court were brilliantly written, and it was absolutely amazing to watch this man in action, in front of 7 Justices. I've since watched Mr. Giordano a few times in local courts and remain amazed at his vast knowledge of criminal and zoning laws. Mr. Giordano is professional, caring, knowledgeable, and thorough. I have recommended him to around 25 people and all have praised Mr. Giordano's legal expertise and abilities. If you ever need a criminal defense lawyer, or anything to do with building code violations, I highly recommend Mr. Anthony Giordano who has offices in Ossining, NY.

My parents hired Jay Sherman back 10 years ago and beside the fact he did great on my case, he wasn't expensive neither. Jay Sherman is defitnitly a lawyer I would use again because of how he handled my cases on a legal level and on a personal level. I remember one time I had gotten a violation in Peekskill Court this was a few yeas after Jay Sherman represented me, I was in the court by myself and when Jay Sherman seem me he immediately caled me up the the judge and Jay got my case settled right there in the court and he did not even charge me for it. That's why I will always refer him to anyone who asks me if I know a good attorney.

Mr. Cotto just won my case against the Village for Building Code Violations. He prepared the case diligently, citing case law to the Judge that the Judge himself used in his decision. He is an excellent trial attorney. He properly prepared all witness and evidence. I would recommend this attorney wholehearted ly . He is dedicated to his work and his client. Anyone who would have him as a lawyer will benefit tremondously.

Today I would like to sincerely thank Collen IP and the lawyers who work there for at least two reasons. First, for many years now, these professionals have been dealing effectively with the clients that my company CorpoMax refers to them (without monetary compensation). I have only received positive comments about them. Second, I recently called on the services of this firm for a serious personal problem concerning copyright and trademark infringement. Lawyers Jess Collen and Michael Nesheiwat have been incredibly efficient. I have nothing but good words about this firm and would highly recommend it to anyone with any intellectual property problem. Vincent Allard, Attorney (QC) P.S. This opinion is given on a voluntary basis and has never been solicited in any way by Collen IP or by any of its members. I just expressed my opinion, quite simply.

Do not hire this attorney. His firm filed for bankruptcy, didn’t pay rent for 15 months, and did not appear at clients cases resulting in a default judgment.

I truly believe that not everyone can have an attorney like Mr. Chittur. I was very lucky. He is honest and fair. He is tenacious. He researches and collaborates with the best to give you the upmost, surprising and successful outcomes. He is still fighting my case in many courts and we are winning!

I found out about Mr. Chittur from a web search; He had successfully won on a case similar to mine. I was nervous because I have never been involved in a lawsuit before, but he assured me everything would work out, he was flexible with my schedule, kept me informed of every event, and was a great person to work with the entire time. I hope I never have to need a lawyer again, but if I do, Mr. Chittur will be my first choice!

He is the worst attorney anyone can ask for. A true nightmare. He asked for the retainer fee right away yet he did nothing for my case for over two months, the only thing he did actually made my case worse. I really don't know how he was able to become an attorney at the first place. He was extremely irresponsive and irresponsible, I had to fire him. And when I asked for part of my retainer fee back, he first told me he would do what was fair, but he kept on asking for more time, and still has not returned one single dollar half of a year later as of today. Stay away from using him for your case.

Mr Yellen is completely irresponsible. He seems too old to do his job, and his work and documents are completely full of errors. He made so many mistakes I've lost count and it only gets worse each time he goes to court, charging charging charging. I honestly cannot fathom how he passed the bar exam- stay away!

If you choose to work with this lawyer, you’ll find that you’ll have to “do it yourself” much of the time. Be prepared to do a lot of your own research and come up with your own “workarounds”. Very difficult to get her on the phone, slow to reply via email and when she finally does respond, she tends to do so at the end of her work day, so any questions you have will have to wait another whole business day at least. Impatient, and seems resentful to have to explain or repeat anything twice. Interruptive, so talk fast or you may not get a sentence out. Don’t do it. Look elsewhere.

Ms. Dasilva's service was far from acceptable. I think her main problem was her lack of knowledge and familiarity with "the system." Quite the novice....it was very frustrating to see her complicating what should have been easy things...nice office, though....but I would NOTrecommend.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
