When my nephew was arrested and charged with a criminal offense and thrown in jail, our family was in shock. He was there as a tourist on his own, while I am in NYC the rest of the family overseas, and he made a mistake based on cultural differences and without bad intentions. We were scared and lost as to what to do and had to find a great lawyer. A friend of a friend gave us 3 names, and we called all 3, but ONLY ONE called back promptly on the Sunday - and that was Michael Levine (the remaining calls trickled in during the week). We were so lucky because over the next month he proved to be not only a competent lawyer but also responsive, communicative, friendly, and to my nephew he provided real emotional support to guide him and calm him throughout the month. The case was successfully dismissed and that was based on his legal work and filings, but I heard stories from my nephew about how in the courthouse Michael was friendly and polite to everyone, and he sensed that the people who worked there knew and liked Michael and were kind and cooperative in return. Michael was also very fair with the price, and in fact his initial quote was very modest so soon after we started we offered to pay him a higher fee just because we could see he was doing more work than anyone anticipated. And so all in all I'd say BIG THANKS to Michael and we would warmly recommended.

Tabitha Brincat and her entire team did a phenomenal job for my stressful divorce/custody case. We worked together for 10 months and throughout the entire time I had nothing but the absolute best care! She is focused, friendly, incredibly competent, and knew every detail of my complicated case the whole time. I was injured on a charity motorcycle ride. I was severely injured. I underwent multiple surgeries. I was close to death many times. I was on life support. I lived in the hospital and a rehab facility for awhile. I could barely move. I had multiple surgeries. After the first few surgeries I had multiple boxes of multiple reams of paper from the medical records of this event. I tried to handle my claim myself because the total limit amounts were far less then my damages. The insurance companies were trying to get over on me. It took weeks to summon enough energy to call and deal with the insurance people and the claim process. After getting the run around from the insurance companies I had thoroughly researched the top lawyers in Oregon. I contacted most of these super lawyers and lawyers with prestigious accolades who are considered the best. For the most part they treated my situation as just another case. I came across Travis Mayor who is also a Super Lawyer with many prestigious accolades as well. I called the office of Travis Mayor and spoke with his kind receptionist. She informed me that Travis was on vacation. A few minute later I received a call from Travis in Hawaii! He cares that much about his clients that he called me from Hawaii while he was with his family. I told him my situation and out of kindness and compassion he said this total limit amount of money would in no way be fair to you. So Travis offered me an EXTREMELY low flat fee out of the kindness of his own heart. He truly cared about me and my situation. After all the pain it was a blessing to come across a man who truly cared. Once Travis took over I was able to focus on recovering. Travis was extremely easy to contact and in most cases got back to me before I could get back to him. He kept me updated and presented everything to me in a direct and clear manner. He outlined the choices I could make and he let me have full control over the decisions of the case while guiding me throughout the process effortlessly. Travis got the limit amounts from both insurance companies. He negotiated my bills down extremely low. And he also searched every possible outlet for further money. Travis went above and beyond and he did it all like a champion with no sweat. Travis is the best lawyer I could have gotten not just in Oregon but anywhere in the globe. I do not think Travis could have done anything better. Travis performed at 1000% and went above and beyond for me and not for money but out of care for my situation. When I was involved in a DUII I was scared, ashamed and felt alone. I was also panicking because I’ve never had to hire an attorney so was already overwhelmed with where to start. I hired Kelly to represent me, and this decision was validated every time I spoke with, emailed, or met with him. I would leave his office, hang up the phone, or read one of his email responses and feel instantly better. He was helpful, direct, and respectful throughout the entire process and gave thorough answers to my questions in a relevant way. No games. Straight answers, anticipating I'd make the decisions I needed to make based on my own judgement system and respecting whatever that might be. He was also very personable and sincerely seems to like his work and helping people. This is important!
You'll be doing the work (gathering documents, going through the budget courses, keeping track of communications from creditors, etc.), and you will want someone you can communicate well with and who welcomes your questions. Our conversations would always leave me feeling more optimistic and clear. I'd know what to expect from him on his end and what I needed to do on my end for whatever step was next in the process. His fees are reasonable, and he is clear when explaining them.
Right from the beginning, when I called to inquire about a consultation, the time I spent with him on the phone before even coming into his office was already more valuable than I had anticipated and gave me insight where others had left me with more confusion. We traveled internationally in November 2019 and had $11,000 of fraudulent transactions made on our credit card. After trying to resolve this directly with Citi for 6 frustrating months without success we engaged Michelle. Michelle and team were responsive and transparent. I felt like I knew what my options were at every point in the process and had enough information to make an informed decision on next steps. Michelle started by trying to navigate similar channels we had tried (lower cost option for me) and when it became clear that wouldn't be effective, we changed course to take legal action which fully resolved the matter within less than 6 weeks. I was happy with the settlement - we were reimbursed for all fraudulent charges, legal fees and a couple hundred dollars for statutory damages.

I was rear ended in a motor vehicle accident in December of 2021 and suffered a neck injury. I tried months of physical therapy and eventually connected with Joel Sturm and TUE. I can not even begin to describe the level of effort and concern they put into my case. Joel was present at doctors appointments, he constantly checked on me. The thing he said over and over was "Let's get it fixed, we can worry about other stuff later." The decision to eventually undergo surgery was left to me, and what I thought was best with the advice of the doctors. There was no talk of money and no pressure to settle the claim quickly. It eventually concluded in November of 2023. When it came time to take care of things Joel did an AMAZING job. I just stayed out of his way and let him use his expertise. When he called me to tell me what the settlement was, I didn't believe him. I thought he was pulling my leg. I made him repeat it three times. The job that Joel and TUE did was incredible. I wish the accident had not happened because of the pain and suffering that it caused. Even with physical rehab and surgery I am going to have some soreness and stiffness in my neck for the rest of my life, but because of the accident I met Joel and I am so grateful to him because he worked so hard to represent me and my interests. There was no part of me that ever wanted to meet Jody or Anna. None! As a 20 year marriage was ending I started asking around for names of attorneys. I didn't have a clue where to start. But, there was one firm that came up several times from people I trusted - Stahancyk, Kent and Hook. I consulted with several firms before SKH and saved them for last. The old adage, save the best for last? Ask Jody or Anna their theory on how you capture a monkey. Hilarious and and so wise. It was at that story, I said... Yes, they are the total for me. They KNOW the law. But, more important that that - THEY UNDERSTAND PEOPLE!
By the grace of God I didn't need near as much representation as I thought I would. It was peaceful. From the very beginning Anna Friedhoff spoke candidly and truthfully with me. There were several times she needed to remind that I hired her because she is the professional. I am a strong woman and wanted to run the show. Oopsy! She gently but firmly guided me through it. When it became apparent the divorce was going to be amicable she saved me tens of thousand of dollars in fees. I bullet pointed out what I need/wanted. She drafted, we went back and forth with a few revisions. I even received a refund on my retainer fee!!!
I hesitate to mention the swiftness of my divorce as I am fully aware it is not a normal pace. I’m giving Anna Friedhoff 5 stars as a divorce attorney, only because I can’t give 6 stars. Anna is the best attorney in Oregon, and if you’re in the unfortunate position of divorce, she needs to be your first and only call.
Anna is an absolute MONSTER of an attorney. She is brilliant, passionate, aggressive, and an all around badass. If anything else, simply hire her to ensure she’s never looking at you from the other side of the courtroom. I promise you, the last name you want to see on the opposing counsel team is Anna Friedhoff.
While we dealt with Covid, and unexpected delays, Anna never took her eyes off the prize. She fought for me and she won every single motion we entered into. Hiring Anna Friedhoff as my divorce attorney was the best decision I’ve ever made in my life.

I cannot say enough good things about Diane. I began working with an advocate at her firm when my son's IEP was not being followed, and when the district failed to meet with us to discuss the issues, she did not hesitate to jump in and represented us throughout our mediation. Because of her, my son now has a solid IEP that he can take with him throughout high school and I gained the tools to better hold the school, admin, and district accountable to ensure my son never slips through their cracks again.
From asking for more useful IEP accommodations, to demanding up-to-date assessments, to securing the paraprofessional my son needs to be successful in general education and ensuring remedies for multiple years of past services not delivered, Diane was a true fighter -- and, most importantly, a firm believer in my son and his rights to a quality education. My son is *finally* successful in school and no longer hesitates to attend. We could not have gotten here without Diane.

Taylar Lewis filed a due process motion against our school district on behalf of my son. She understood the law and the needs of nuero-diverse kids education. The district settled in mediation and provided resources for which we had denied for many years. With out her help I doubt my son could have graduated. I only wish I had hired her many years earlier. We hired Diane to help us with a complex and difficult case involving our child's special education with our public school district. When I was interviewing attorneys, from the moment I first interviewed her, I knew she would be the one we hired. She is an exceptionally kind and brilliant attorney who truly understands both the legal and emotional aspects involved with special education for special needs, twice exceptional children.
Our situation taking over our case from another firm who didn't work out. She clearly explained the process, set expectations around timing and possible outcomes, and expenses in a way that we, as non-lawyers, could easily understand. She and her staff (shout to her colleague Taylar!) even expertly identified issues in our case which neither we nor the other firm had not noticed, giving us additional grounds for our due process complaint. Our case was so complicated that I think I the opening statement for the due process complaint was over 80 pages long!
This may sound like hyperbole, but I mean this literally. I cannot think of anything Diane and her team could have done differently to make the case go smoother. Our case progressed to trial (a due process hearing with a Washington state Administrative Law Judge). Not only did we "win" our case, but we got pretty much everything we asked for. The Judge himself, in his written decision, commented on how appalling the school district's performance was, with respect to their handling of our child's special education. I am convinced this outcome would not have occurred if we had not selected Wiscarson Law. She truly changed the trajectory of our child's life in a deeply profound way, for which we will always be grateful.
Bottom line: if you need an advocate or legal representation to help you with the special education of your child, run, not walk, to Diane's office. You'll be very glad you did!

Sarah was excellent through every phase of my separation and divorce. When I encountered a situation outside of her expertise, she guided me to a colleague who got a great outcome. Needless to say, I was not always the 'happiest camper' to be getting divorced. Sarah remained steady regardless of my demeanor, consistently and calmly focused on the next point of business. My husband and I hired Jason after my husband was in a bad car accident. Jason was fantastic through the long process of getting my husband the proper compensation for his current and future losses, he was educated and seemed to genuinely have my husbands and my best interest at heart.
