Kristen is, in a word, sensational.
But, of course, I will expand. My divorce was complicated. I came out of an incredibly high-conflict marriage and knew almost immediately that the divorce would be the same. It was. It included false allegations against me, as well as a number of other incidents that rattled me.
Through it all, Kristen was a steadying constant. In the beginning, when I was the most emotionally wounded and the least capable of rational thought, Kristen took the time to help guide me through the healing as well as the legal process. That is to say, she went well beyond the concepts I would have expected of a lawyer. For her, our professional relationship wasn't just about getting me through a complicated legal process; it was also about getting me through an even more complicated personal journey.
Of course, she was equally great in legal matters. She's an expert who knows her business and who draws upon years of experience to tirelessly advocate for her clients. In my first conversation with her, Kristen predicted what would happen. Every prediction ended up correct, no matter the roadblocks we faced in getting there.
Except for two things, both self evident positives. She told me what the financial settlement would like but in the end I walked away with an even more favorable outcome than she guessed I would. She also predicted the divorce could take between eighteen and twenty-four months. It took ten. In both cases, I am convinced the positive outcome owe directly to Kristen's efforts.
My favorite part about Kristen's counsel, by the way, was that she never told me what I wanted to hear. She told me what was necessary, what was true, what was legally right. And she did it with empathy, concern, professionalism, and sincerity.

I guess I call it good luck that I was so fortunate to find Kristen! In the past I had dealt with terrible attorneys that just ripped me off. I had THE divorce the from hell, very messy with multiple properties and it lasted 4 years with a trial and then an appeal, (yes he was a narcissist!) Kristen is smart, witty, incredibly sharp, & paid amazing attention to details. She has an awesome memory and on days knew more about my case then I did. Katherine was thorough and did a good job.
It was not just us going in and having a wandering discussion about what we wanted to do. She did a really good job of driving the discussion home and putting things out there so we could absorb it and react in the way we wanted to.

I recently moved back to Minneapolis because my mother has been dealing with an illness that we just found out is terminal. Upon finding out that she had not written her will or health directive I immediately got some references from a friend who is a lawyer however, this issue is not his specialty. Third call on the list I got to speak to Katherine live, no leaving messages and waiting. I made an appointment for my mother to meet her and have a consult and we both left her office feeling like the greatest weight had been lifted. We immediately knew we were in good hands and that we could cross this task off our list. Katherine is more than we ever expected, very efficient and knowledgeable. She was courteous, respectful and so kind when addressing my mother with sensitive questions and extremely patient when we didn't understand the process. I could tell by my mother's face that she was really happy and this was a much easier process than she imagined because of Katherine's professionalism and enthusiastic manner, it was obvious that she was there to do the best job possible for us and she really enjoys her profession. I worked with Lesley Guyton for my wife's permanent residency application (marriage to a permanent resident). Due to the recent Covid restrictions our case unexpectedly became complex. However, Lesley was thoroughly professional, knowledgeable and helped us at every step. In the end, everything worked out well and my wife was successful in obtaining the green card without any RFEs or hiccups. Personally, Lesley is a great and a kind hearted person and really cares about the case unlike other immigration firms out in the city interested in the case just for monetary reasons. Alex Bajwa is not only an excellent lawyer but also a great guy. I am a member of his monthly business service and he has reviewed many legal documents on my behalf as part of his monthly service. What I like best about him is that he can break down the "legal talk" to my level so I can understand the situation. By him reviewing these documents before hand, he has saved me a ton of money and also a ton of headaches. As a member of his service, his rates are the lowest I have ever seen. He is approachable, easy to work with, detail orientated and his response rate is unbelievable. I can send him a text for emergencies and he has always gotten right back to me. I have also hired him outside the scope of his monthly service. I needed to add an existing partner to one of my businesses, and Alex opened my eyes to many things that I never would have thought to even ask. J. Dudley kindly helped me resolve a case involving supposed 'damage' to an Avis rental car at DLH airport, and he was efficient, professional and timely in his response. Although I am sure it was a minor case for him, monetarily, it was a major headache and financial set-back for me when I received a claim after returning a rental car that there were 'scratches', which included a large, unreasonable bill for repair, LOU and administrative fees regardless of the fact I had photos of the car upon return showing no damages that I had caused, and an eye-witness who also verified in writing that there was no damage to car. Avis customer service dept. would not help me as they claimed that car was independently owned, of which I was never forewarned by Avis or Priceline, and only later learned that company had terrible BBB ratings and multiple complaints by clients for claims of supposed damage to cars after return. I had no leverage to deal with the rental car owner, but J. Dudley resolved the matter in 1 week and the claim was cancelled, which was a huge relief for me. I had felt powerless against a huge rental car company who unscrupulously tacked on various large fees for supposed scratches after car had already been returned undamaged to Avis airport parking lot, and was very grateful for Mr. Dudley very quickly eliminating this claim. I also appreciated that he has a sense of humor, acts human, and treats his clients with respect and concern.

Alan Margoles is an incredible intellectual to have on your side in the courtroom. Alan did a great job looking deeply into issues and the legality of actions taken by the state. Specifically, Alan helped file a Rasmussen motion to dismiss social media search warrant evidence which was outrageously ambiguous in the form. I was working with both Alan and his daughter Michelle Margoles as well. The team was successful in this as well as many other motions for discovery that assisted my case very much. Maria handled my messy divorce and 5 years of residual issues in a concise manner with knowledge, fairness (to all parties involved) and with a calmness that help me get though those difficult years. I can't begin to express how amazing Maria was in handling my case. I filed for divorce in August of 2009 and my ex-wife immediately began an unimaginable mud-slinging campaign in an effort to gain sole custody of our children. I wanted to reply in kind and engage in that battle to refute all the lies my ex was putting forth. But, Maria had a great game plan which she came up with after our first court appearance. We would simply stick to the facts. At first, it was difficult to sit back and let my character be assassinated time and time again. However, it was very easy to trust the strategy that Maria had in place.
There were several times during my case that the outlook seemed bleak. I would get uptight, panicked or nervous. Maria was always there to explain the divorce process and tell me why we need to maintain our strategy. She was always available to answer any question, no matter how trivial it might have been. She would explain in detail why things were relevant to the court. Even if I had naïve questions like as why they were relevant, Maria explained how my course of action be in my best interests (and the best interests of my children) and how my actions would work in my favor in the long run. To say she has a firm grasp on divorce law and the entire divorce process would be a vast understatement.
It is now October of 2010 and my case has just concluded. I’m absolutely convinced Maria is part soothsayer. Her strategy played out exactly as we had discussed back in 2009. The custody evaluation worked out in my favor, just as Maria said it would. The judge saw through the mudslinging of my ex and focused on the facts, just as Maria said she would. While there are no winners in a divorce, I feel truly vindicated that I stuck to my convictions (thanks to Maria’s guidance) and the judge ruled very heavily in my favor.
This was the first instance I needed a lawyer for more than one day. I am absolutely elated that I chose Maria Maier to be that lawyer. Her expertise and guidance helped me through a very difficult transition in my life. I wouldn’t wish a divorce on anybody, but I would highly recommend Maria to anyone who needs an expert lawyer on their side should they find themselves facing a divorce.

I was a victim in a workplace discrimination case, my employer was a metro area county. I first retained a lawyer from one of the big downtown firms. This firm who I will not name did absolutely nothing to resolve my case. The only thing the downtown firm did was leave me with a substantial bill with nothing to show for it.
I then found Chris end it was a night and day difference between him and the other firm. Chris understood the human aspect of my case and understood the ramifications it could have on my career. Chris aggressively worked on my behalf to resolve the case in a reasonable fashion. I thought Chris was a great advocate and looked out for the best interest of me as he worked my case.
