Benjamin has been at my side in my David vs. Goliath fight for the past two years. His terrific representation levels the playing field. I have never seen another attorney that gives the same care and attention to individual clients that they give to their F100 clients. Having founded and served as CEO/CTO of a number of successful tech start-ups, the DMS team is my weapon of choice.

Jacob helped me and my partner with revising several aspects of our decades-old Living Trusts and finally with working out the implications of marriage. He was clear and thoughtful throughout, did everything he said he'd do in a timely way, and his fees were fair and equitable, given his expertise and experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Jacob as your attorney if you are putting together an estate plan.

I first consulted David in 2005 to obtain my green card thru my marriage. My case was complicated by a 10 year bar and needed a waiver to be approved for my green card. In 2008 I obtained my green card. I had some issues with the DMV and my application for citizenship could be a problem. Thru all of my issues and case David always made sure he was doing everything he could to insure there were no questions unanswered for USCIS. I became a U.S. Citizen on 1/11/2018. I know if it werent for David's representation I would not be a U.S. Citizen today. I recommend David Wright to anyone who wants an Attorney who knows the immigration laws and will do whats best for you, your case, and your family.

Our construction company, RRA Construction, had to sue a non-paying client and Thomas came as a referral from another attorney for our case. If you are going through or have gone through a case, then you would know how imperative it is to be armed with a winning attorney. Even though we were stressed out of our minds, Thomas reassured us. He helped keep us calm throughout the process. RRA Construction was impressed with Thomas's extensive knowledge and in utilizing his services, we have become a better company in the end. We have Thomas to thank for helping us with our case.

I was referred to Jonathan Sack for a labor dispute regarding a severance claim. From day one I could tell right away that Jonathan was all about servicing his clients needs. I was very happy with his council and advise and the way he dealt with my former employer representing my interests. The net result was he successfully negotiated on my behalf a more fruitful settlement. I'd high recommend Jonathan Sack & his firm for your labor legal needs.

I was rejected by 3 employment lawyers under the excuse that my case was very thin. I contacted Rey Hassan and his team. We spent 3 hours dissecting all the details of my case and now my case is on its way to being resolved. I would highly recommend Rey Hassan and his services. My case was employment discrimination based on religion, national religion and race. Rey is a guy who know his field. Great guy with great attitude. He is in it to help his clients first and foremost and then worry about his bottom line. Thank you Rey!.

I am an attorney that hired Bob for my own personal tax situation as he came with the highest recommendations from my other attorney friends that had used him. Now whenever anyone asks me for a recommendation to a tax attorney, I send them to Bob. He is my go-to Tax Guru. He takes good care of the friends and colleagues I referred to him and he took good care of me. Even though I'm a trained lawyer, tax is a highly specialized confusing area of law. Bob was able to explain it to me in simple lay language. His advice and guidance helped me make the best out of my situation. Thank you Bob!!!!

I was introduced to Ms. Aaron by a business associate regarding an ERISA matter. She was fantastic. Diane is very versed in ERISA law and has helped me with several clients pertaining to compensation, benefit plans and a host of other issues. Being a retired Police Detective, I'm naturally skeptical, but Diane has proven that her 30+ years of experience has given her a wealth of knowledge that she enjoys sharing with her clients.

Typically Dennis Wheeler is an attorney that specializes in banking for the well-to-do. The person who recommended me to him was one of those 10% richest Americans. He has saved his clients millions that would otherwise have been swallowed by the post-Bush recession. I went to Dennis because I was considering bankruptcy. He helped me to understand that bankruptcy was not the right path for my situation. He helped me to negotiate my outstanding debts with credit companies, got me very favorable judgements and to helped me avoid a lien on my home. He fended off my creditors and helped me to craft a better financial strategy. He's honest and forthright, and if you are equally honest with him he is the best friend you can have in this economy.

I've worked in the law for 31 years (bankruptcy), but it was definitely both humbling and strange to be on the other side of the lawyer's desk. You know it's a bad day when you wake to someone cradling your neck and announcing that "the ambulance is on the way " (when bicyclist meets car, bicyclist loses). I interviewed a few PI lawyers (half my friends, it seems, are attorneys). Carter Zinn struck me as incredibly knowledgeable, aggressive and creative. Although the lawsuit was a bit of a roller coaster, at every point along the way I knew I made the right selection. The eventual million dollar settlement was far greater than that predicted by the other lawyers who I interviewed and assessed my case. You cannot do better than to have Carter Zinn as your advocate

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
