One of Attorney Khadder's CELA colleagues (a fellow attorney) highly recommended him. During the free consultation, Attorney Khadder took the time to understand my case, reviewing all of the relevant documents and weighing the pros and cons of various options. During this process, he really took the time to listen and empathize, even when I was rambling! Attorney Khadder followed through on all of his promises and ultimately obtained a positive result for me. I really appreciate how he communicated clearly at every stage of the case. If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing to contact an employment attorney, I would suggest giving Attorney Khadder a call.

I met Yali while he was working as a public defender. I walked in after being shuffled around by Santa Clara County, including 4 other lawyers. I had recently been charged with a dui and resisting arrest. At the time I had two officers word against mine. Yali answered every single call within moments of calling, and truly believed I was innocent until proven guilty. He never once made me feel like I had anything to be ashamed of, and never gave me any attitude nor did I get a feeling like he felt he was better than I was. Long story shot, a Dui, resisting arrest and some other charge were deservingly reduced to disturbing the peace. Not to mention that was expunged after a year Yali Corea Levy is an amazing Lawyer! In this brief description, no where does it really describe the concern, dedication and commitment he showed for my case. Imagine for a moment how busy and hectic it must be for a PD. Yali treated me like a private attorney and that was when I wasn't paying him. How well do you think he'd treat you, if he had more time and resources to commit to the situation. If you'd like a more personal description or refferel to my encounters, please reach out to Yali and tell him he's welcome to give you my number.

About a year ago I caught a drunk driving case in San Mateo County. My cousin knew Kamran personally and told me that it might be worthwhile to at least chat it up with him to see what my chances were. I made an appointment and met with him at his office. He was polite, and very informative. I ended up hiring him to fight the court case and he walked me through every step so that I knew what was going on. Having him on my side made the process that much more bearable, and I ended up only having to do a couple days of community service for reckless driving instead of a full blown DUI.

I am an attorney myself and retained Mr. Cohen to represent me in a civil litigation matter. I could not have been more pleased with his representation. Without hesitation, I give him an A+ in all areas, including professionalism, competency, knowledge, responsiveness, personality, etc. Unfortunately, it's not always easy to find an attorney with these attributes, let alone one who cares about his client's circumstances and goals.

I was being wrongfully charged with commercial burglary of the 2nd degree and grand theft for an incident that occurred at my previous place of employment, a large retailer where I had grabbed another employee's purse by mistake rather than my own as I made my way out to lunch. Mr. Herman Holland had faith in the strength of my case and fought for me all the way to the end of the trial, having prepared a deft strategy which convinced a 12-person jury that the evidence could not prove the intent behind the acts. I was acquitted on both counts because of Herman's compassion, his belief that I'm not a criminal, and the amount of work that he put in my case. Every once in a long while, you come across someone who touches your life. Herman Holland is one such person, and I will continue to endorse him and the San Francisco Public Defender's Office to anyone who's being charged with a crime in San Francisco County.

I recently had the privilege of being represented by Alexandra McClure in a federal case, and I cannot recommend her enough. Despite there being a mountain of evidence stacked against me, Alex was able to skillfully change the narrative and present a compelling case in my defense. What I appreciated the most was her level of preparedness. It was like she had a playbook set up for any angle that the prosecution would argue from. She was always prepared for court, often having things that the DA would argue about written out and ready with rebuttals. Her ability to anticipate the prosecution's arguments and provide compelling counterarguments was absolutely crucial in securing the best possible sentence for me. Alexandra McClure professionalism, commitment, and legal acumen were invaluable to me throughout the entire process. I am grateful to have had her as my attorney, and I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs legal representation. She truly went above and beyond in representing me, and I cannot thank her enough for everything that she did. If you're in need of legal representation, look no further than Alex. She is a talented and dedicated attorney who will fight tirelessly for your rights and best interests. Thank you, Alex for your outstanding work on my case. Best regards, Paul B

Our construction company, RRA Construction, had to sue a non-paying client and Thomas came as a referral from another attorney for our case. If you are going through or have gone through a case, then you would know how imperative it is to be armed with a winning attorney. Even though we were stressed out of our minds, Thomas reassured us. He helped keep us calm throughout the process. RRA Construction was impressed with Thomas's extensive knowledge and in utilizing his services, we have become a better company in the end. We have Thomas to thank for helping us with our case.

Sadie Bissett was hired as my family law attorney. Her criminology background was helpful. I found her legal writing and litigation abilities to be outstanding. She was well-prepared and quick-witted in court. Her legal briefs were well thought out and compelling. My communications with her were pleasant and filled with strategies toward resolution. As her client, she zealously advocated for my rights.

Let me start off by saying that Alexandria and her team are the best lawyers I have had the pleasure of working with. She treats her clients with compassion and is there to answer any questions. I was facing 5-40 years in prison in Texas and ended up with a probationary sentence! This team becomes more like a family and treats you like one of there own.

Heather has provided legal counsel for me for two separate problems. The first was an issue concerning the housing situation of my very uncooperative and sometimes hostile mother. Family issues can be very tricky to solve, even when the law is pretty clear. Family members tend to play by different rules when dealing with one another and there is a compassion that you give to relatives that doesn't come into play when dealing with strangers. Nobody understands this more than Heather. Her care and compassion for all parties involved give her unrivaled effectiveness in determining a solution with which everyone can be happy. Instead of just going through the legal motions of removing my mother from her current, undesirable housing - which was the legal help I sought - Heather actually went the extra two miles and found several housing alternatives that would fit my mother's financial requirements. She investigated records and found some government assistance programs for which my mother would be eligible. She thoroughly researched all possible avenues, including mediating discussions with other family members. Her warm-hearted demeanor and obvious compassion make her instantly likable and does not put anyone on the defensive, which I have found can be the most serious obstacle to progress. These factors were enough to overcome my mother's hostility and help her realize the right choice to make. I would hire Heather again in a heartbeat if another such situation arises. Heather is currently representing me in a personal injury claim from a motorcycle accident. I am continually amazed and impressed by her organization and knowledge. Despite being young and newly licensed, she's an excellent researcher and knows when to ask for help. It's obvious to me that she cares most of all about my satisfaction and providing me what I need, rather than serving her own interests. Yet she doesn't just answer my questions, she asks me all the things of which I haven't thought and sees to it that I keep on task when dealing with the seemingly insurmountable piles of bills and insurance paperwork. I can be difficult person with whom to work, because I insist of knowing and understanding everything and doing it my way. Heather doesn't push or prod, but she tells me matter-of-factly what the consequences of each and every one of my proposed actions are. She'll tell me when I'm making a bad choice and after all is said will work tirelessly to whatever ends I choose. I feel very comfortable knowing Heather is representing me and I do not worry. She's not just a great lawyer, she's also a really great, caring person.

Try to imagine the situation where you suddenly find out that your children who you thought were on a vacation like so many others, have been held on the other side of the world against your will by the person you thought you could trust. In that moment you know you have to do something, quickly, but what? In your head just confusion, bewilderment, chaos. In that moment you realize that you need help, lots of help. And it was at such a delicate moment that I was lucky enough to find Mr. Seymour. Brent not only proved to be an exceptional professional but also the person who led me by the hand in such a complicated moment of my life. He knew how to untangle all the complications of the issue at hand, not only those strictly related to the legal problem itself but also language problems, laws of different countries, further complications introduced by the pandemic that prevented from moving anywhere. In spite of all the difficulties, Brent was able to operate with extreme mastery of his profession, never forgetting that on the other side of the screen, on the other side of the world, there was a person fighting to have his rights recognized and to be reunited with his children, living in a state of mind easy to imagine. Always professional, always close, always available, Brent knew how to give me back my confidence and take me hand in hand, safely, towards the solution of the problem, promptly and brilliantly circumventing every obstacle. If I look back in time I think I could hardly have found another professional as prepared and skilled as Mr. Seymour, whom I thank once again.

Christine handled our Estate Plan and did an excellent job. She was very knowledgeable and thorough and coached us through every issue that we needed to consider. She followed through on every detail in a very timely manner. In addition, she was very cost conscious and delivered exactly what she said she was going to deliver. She was a pleasure to work with and was always responsive to our needs and concerns. My husband and I would highly recommend Christine.

A friend introduced me to him. He doesn't take clients without an introduction from his close network of past clients normally. He took the time to explain to me what I would be facing. How much time it would take possibly and what were the pitfalls and options. At first he provided free resources to local groups that help small businesses. But at the behest of a mutual friend. He jumped in and spoke with the other attorney. Before we knew it, the issue with the other business was resolved.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.

Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
