I’ll start by saying that I would 100% recommend Law Offices of Atousa Saei for both Divorce and Child Custody.
My divorce involved a very minor child. During my initial consultation with Atousa, she tempered my expectations and didn’t sugar coat anything. She also briefly discussed how she would approach my case. That’s why I decided to go with her.
Before filing for divorce, I had discussed everything with my ex spouse and we had a verbal agreement for both divorce and child custody. I thought since we were going the amicable route, the whole process would be relatively simple and we would mainly need the lawyers for paperwork. But that changed AS SOON AS I actually filed for divorce.
My ex spouse did multiple really HORRIBLE things. There was a time when I thought I would lose my daughter and had no idea when I would see her next (thankfully I was able to see her pretty soon). Atousa and Hailey were always there by my side and fought really hard for me. They filed all the briefs and paperwork on time. Their strategy was on point.
Although my marriage was short term (less than 4 years), it became EXTREMELY complicated because of my ex spouses action. It took over 2 years to finally get everything done (due to reasons beyond their and court’s control). But I’m EXTREMELY happy with the end result and I have full custody of my daughter as of now (and more importantly she’s safe with me). They put in a lot of effort in all the paperwork and their briefs were beautifully written (extremely detailed and full of substance and on point).
To sum it up:
- Great lawyers (Atousa, Hailey and Shannon) and they really care
- Great team (thanks Alice and Wendy)
- Great acumen and strategy
- They were always by my side
- They were always available and responded quickly
- All paperwork was done in a timely manner
- Great negotiation skills

I would never wish for anyone to go through what I did. But if you are going through a divorce, I would 100% recommend them.

Our story is as unique and tough as everyone else's when dealing with restraining orders. When you need an attorney, finding the right one MAY make all the difference! Our lives, safety and wellbeing on the line, in a process I would never wish onto anyone, I needed help big time! My previous attorney was not a proper fit for us, our case was not high on his priority list and I did not feel he took the time to get us nor our case ready. Sometimes, days would pass before I received a reply to my concerns. I desperately and urgently hunted everywhere I could for a better attorney. Searching thru friends and posts, I found Ms. Saei's TEAM! From the moment I connected with Ms. Saei and Ms. Payne, my gut and my heart felt the care, the understanding and the dedication they were willing to put into our urgent matters. From day one, this TEAM has been nothing short of a miracle! Even knowing that our case could go left or right, I put my trust in this team and I am so glad I did! No attorney can guarantee the outcome, ever! Don't try to cut corners when you have a pressing matter, most of the time, you get what you pay for. When dealing with court and attorneys, a plain Jane cannot compare to what attorneys are made of. I made the mistake of using a public defender when I caught my first case. That taught me that public defenders dont care and are really just there to process you thru the system. Please don't make the same mistake I did. When I ended up catching a bogus second dui case, I hired Chudnovksky Law and they assigned Kareem to defend me in airport court. He was a bull dog and did not give up.
Retaining Kareem Aref was well worth it. He got my case dismissed and I didn’t even have to go to court. Kareem had my back!!!!

Matthew coordinated a settlement with my landlord over an illegal, unsafe apartment violation. Before working with Matthew, it was an incredibly stressful situation and my landlord was not taking the situation seriously. Matthew helped me resolve a dispute with a landlord who wanted to break my lease to sell the house I had recently rented. It was a difficult situation as I had barely settled into my new home. Matthew provided clear and effective advice at our first meeting. He drew up settlement papers to which the landlord agreed without argument. I was driving 120 MPH when I was pulled over and arrested for DUI. It was passed midnight when the lights of the cop car flooded my rear view mirror. I knew I had one too many drinks and I knew I was going to jail. Still, I was hoping I could talk my way out of it. I answered their questions. It didn't help. My speech was slurred. I did their tests on the side of the road. I almost fell over a few times. With each second I could feel the jail closing in on me. The cops didn't care about me. They were so pissed I was driving so fast they couldn't wait to take me to jail. I was arrested and blew .12 twice into the breathalyzer. I thought it was over.
I knew of Derek from other friends that had used him. They had their cases dismissed or walked away with very little. He wasn't cheap, but my friends swore by him. I saved every nickel and raised every dime I could to hire him. It was the best decision I've ever made.
When I met with him he explained everything. He told me "you're paying me to do the worrying for you" and I truly felt he cared. I know he cared.
The Torrance DA (Some woman named Gillian) wanted to send me to jail for months because of some rule that says if you're driving as fast as I was you do a minimum of 2 months jail. I couldn't believe it. Derek wasn't having it. He fought with them, but they wouldn't budge. It was take the jail or go to trial.
We went to Trial.
I was scared to death when the jury was picked. Then Derek started doing his thing. He showed the jury another side. He showed the cops didn't know what they were doing and that they were lying. They didn't need to lie, but they did. Derek was clearly the smartest guy in the room. Everything they threw at us Derek blasted.
More than anything, Derek cared. He put his heart and soul into the case. He really cared what would happen to me. I wasn't just a client. He treated me like I was a member of his family on trial. The jury saw that and I won. MY CASE WAS DISMISSED!!!!!!!

We hired Derek on 2 separate occasions for a family member. One was a DUI and the other a DV charge. Despite being handed many difficult situations by the client, the judge and D.A., Derek was able to literally pull out a few miracles. The client was able to get very lenient outcomes. Derek is a fighter and likes to win. Even better he doesn't like to lose, so if you need a good lawyer who will fight for you, hire Derek.

I certainly could have waited to write this review until the lawsuit I'm involved in has wrapped up (I'm a defendant). Hopefully that will be in the next couple of months. But I feel compelled to say something at this point because I want to acknowledge that the way Attorney Moss handles things, the way his mind works, and the way things are explained to me, has helped keep my stress level down, and has greatly abated the angst I feel as my court date approaches, three years into a law suit that I should never have been included in. Some months now after finalizing my divorce I truly realize the expert care I was in with Ms. Baltazar. Throughout she was persistent in representing my interest, clearly explaining current and prospective actions needed to arrive at the best outcome for me. She was always careful to fully explain what the law said on key matters and how it was interpreted by the courts. Ms. Baltazar had the ability to take jumbled information, as I'm sure I sometimes babbled on, picking out the salient points and repeating key information back to ensure she had a firm grasp of my responses. She also had the ability and patience to simplify and present legalese in an easy to understand manner so that i could fully consider it. Since mine was a marriage of long duration, she understood how fearful I was of the financial aspects of the divorce, painstakingly explaining each option for settlement. I was involved in a spousal support issue/tax matter with my ex-wife. Ms. Baltazar not only provided excellent advise in the spousal support area, but actually found a case ruling in the tax matter which defended my position and which had been overlooked by my ex wife's attorneys. (And tax law is not even her primary area of practice.) This allowed us to arrange for an out of court settlement that was much to my advantage.
