Like the other reviews states, Miss Skinner is a perfectly nice person but in a family court case you need someone that is aggressive. She is anything but. Gets steam rolled by other lawyers & doesn’t fight for her client. In the end it was a waste of $25k to not even have any outcome in almost a year. Find someone that will fight for you in every sense of the word.

A nice, friendly person; but NOT aggressive. Highly ethical and extremely careful and cautious; but do not count on her to go the extra mile, especially if there's any "risk" strategy involved. Missed deadlines, forgets stuff a lot. Not well-organized. Blames the judge and opposing counsel for losses. My case presents her with many difficulties, but she has not risen to the challenge. I have not lost "the war", but I've lost pretty much every "battle" so far. And there were many battles she should have taken the fight to long ago, looking back in hindsight. She is not an incompetent lawyer, but if your case is anything but open-and-shut, do not trust her with your custody rights. Get a fighter.

Hired Marc by default only to be insulted and and treated very rudely. After going to work he continued to increase his fees and insults he worked harder in finding ways to charge me more then he would on my case. He would only return my calls when he felt like it. I would give him the information he requested only for him to confuse and mix-up the information then complain about having to do the work. finally imputing your information given to him incorrectly and charging me almost double what I was originally quoted. yet he complained about everything. Then after charging me double and making the entire event more difficult he quit halfway through and charged me a highly inflated amount. I still had to hire another attorney to finish the case and do damage control. Do yourself a favor and hire a competent attorney one that doesn’t blame you for all of his mistakes.

I paid to retain Mr. Grant for a divorce based on 10 years of separation, Mr. Grant failed to take any action for several months and completely stopped responding to all forms of contact. No paperwork was filed in the two months I had Mr. Grant on my case. I had to terminate Mr. Grant and am fighting to get my retainer fee back. No one in his office answers the calls of follows up on messages. Do not use!

Mark Grant really put in the work and effort to ensure my son came back home to his mommy. I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer. I did follow protocol as close as possible and completely gave it my all as well. Marc did not disappoint in ensuring that 100% of my hard work paid off. The previous statement says he's a beast in the court room and I very much agree. He will always keep his clients best interest as priority too. Absolutely amazing! Jenna Lockard

This guy is knowing and actively participating in a fraudulent scheme and conflict of interest for his client the Wings of Flight Foundation, and two disgraced Board members of the Falcon Warbirds Foundation. As a statutory agent at the ACC for both organizations, on a multi-member LLC with no EIN #. Using the rejected filings on the ACC filed fraudulently by disgraced Board members, he created a Assignment of the Lease to gain control of a Historical World War II Landmark and instructed the parties to damage what property the Wings of Flight didn't want and take what they did want. Also, he collaborated with the Falcon Field Airport Director to deny the tenant access to their property and this allowed the disgraced board members to destroy evidence of their embezzlement, forgery, and theft.

My biggest regret was hiring Marshall Hunt for representation. I had a really bad experience with Marshall and his team at Davis Miles for almost 2 years. He missed deadlines to gather important evidence, had difficulty getting things done in a timely manner, and was constantly outmaneuvered/walked over by opposing counsel. Marshall seemed to be lazy and it was difficult to get him to focus on my case (it took him months to get a simple motion filed). Most the time he appeared to be going through the motions to collect a paycheck. If you are looking for an attorney who is both diligent and passionate about your case, Marshall Hunt is not the one for you. Marshall and Davis Miles caused more headaches and mistakes than they did good.

Hello all! I am new here. I am 21 years old just got out of college and am making 61K a year. I do not start paying on student loans until March of next year I wanted to try and get ahead of my credit before then. I had mortgage that is $500 a month. I kept up with that no problem. However, I had over $17000 in debt on multiple credit cards (15-20). I know it was a very bad idea. I missed a few payments as of then due to an emergency and it really hit my credit. I was sitting in the high 400s. I have always looked for a way to fix up my credit. I got my credit issues resolved through PINNACLE CREDIT SPECIALIST. He is the only legit hacker that lives up to the hype. After 9 days I contacted PINNACLE CREDIT SPECISLIST, he increased my scores to 800+ across the three-credit board. He also increased my credit profile by deleting all late payments, mortgage, student loan and removed all credit card debts. I sincerely acknowledge their relentless efforts and urge you to contact him for any related issue. Contact info:

Mr Countryman has been assigned to my Son's criminal case as his Public Defender in Yavapai County, Prescott Arizona. My son has been in jail Since Oct 12, 2023. He has had 5 Court hearings thus far and Mr Countryman has missed 4 of them. The 1 that he was present for was via Video from a remote area. He's seen my son a total of 1 time also via a 4 minute jail video visit. My son has repeatedly tried to contact him from the county jail's telephone communication system but each time he get vml box which is always full. Not once has he responded. My son has written to Mr. Countryman as well. Still no response. I myself have reached out to Mr Countryman via email on behalf of my Son's hoping to get a response and Nothing! We are due to appear in Court again very soon & are so fearful that he will not show up in court once again. Desperate stressed and afraid of the outcome of this entire ordeal. My Son is completely Stressed because he has no clue as to what is going on with his case. Actually we both are. I wonder can my son request that the judge to assign a different attorney?

Thomas Murphy is a clever orator, he knows how to convince and effectively influence others to win and get his way, unfortunately ethics and the concept of right and wrong conduct do not enter the equation. He can manipulate and outmaneuver other people and appear to win an argument but it is all a sham, an illusion, a word spell cast on our minds but most people can't see it for what it is. He believes his own bullshit and spreads lies as if they were truth because he has no correct, solid, firmly grounded foundation in truth and morality. One might opine that these are merely the tools of a professional lawyer and that they are utilized to promote success and survival within our legal system but it is my own personal opinion that when we hand ourselves over to this evil power we let it use us. There is a universal greater than ourselves and any other person and when we choose to manipulate the truth based on personal motivation and gain we remain ignorant of these negative inner capacities and the outer ramifications. I cannot in good conscience recommend this attorney on any level, to do so would be conformity with fallacy rather than the substantive truth and good. He made claim that a conclusion was false without benefit of looking into it honestly, without curiosity, critical thinking or an objective detachment and as a result innocent children were harmed. To me this demonstrated that his logic is not real logic but instead only rhetoric. He chose to ignore the truth and sidetrack the issue because his primary focus was on the presentation, appearance and receptivity of his message instead of putting value in the truth first. I got lost in wasted time trying to convince Thomas Murphy that the truth speaks for itself, instead he lead me down a twisted winding road in an attempt to convince me of his deluded concept of justice. Inevitably it is my own fault for not looking more extensively into his background and history of issues with prior probate clients but I was in a state of duress at the time, hopefully others will be encouraged to investigate more fully and avoid the same pitfalls.

Tom has had 8 complaints filed with the AZ Bar in the last three years (after 3 years, complaints are expunged). All were dismissed by the Bar, including ours. We ended up going to another attorney to successfully complete our estate settlement. Our concerns included commitments made and not kept, and poor communication with us and opposing counsel.

I hired Mr Pincus law firm. His crew is made up new young lawyers who have no clue just big egos. When I call for him to handle things he does not reply you might get his Manager another lawyer who is one foot above being new lawyer. No one knows how to deal with there clients only being bully. I have contract they sent me later that signature is not mine. After lawyer I hired at his firm quit. They quit on my case put big lien on it. I took them on I was already finished it half way. 10% gross lien for sending fax to insurance company and dumping and leaving you worse off than when you walked in. You might have avoid this Mr Pincus if you called back on message I left you in your Tempe office and at your Tuscon office. To me your company has no clue of fiduciary or the Golden Rule.

As a client of Ms. Abernethy, I offer the following assessment: Ms. Abernethy appears to value her ego over resolution of issues and disagreements between opposing parties. Does not look for harmony and equity but rather conflict for personal and firm's financial interest and gains.Subsequently all parties were affected adversely.

A simple case with zero opposing evidence to attempt overturn of a Last Will. All we needed to do was have the treating doctor testify (he charged zero) and the Last Will witnesses (zero cost). My case should have cost $14,000 and I was charged $54,000. I am taking him to fee arbitration and plan to file with ACAP to determine the violations in this case. I will update this review with the panel determination of my overcharges of $40,000 per my analysis and documentation.

Incompetent, unreliable, irresponsible, and unprofessional are key words to describe this "lawyer". Severiano would rarely return my phone calls, sent me to obtain my own records, had me going to wacky chiropractors, and encouraged me to "play it up". Would lie to others while I was sitting in the room with him. Severiano would make inappropriate comments, and would get uncomfortably close when speaking to me. I am still suffering from injuries, but the worst part of my accident was having this man to represent me. Unscrupulous work ethics.

Contact information through AZ courts is out of date, business dissolved with Griffin, phone disconnected. Unable to locate a form of contact. AZ court directed us to seek Ms. Givens as AZLAW.org , once found to send an email to her through the website. Created a profile, and emailed as directed immediately, 3 weeks ago tomorrow and still no response. She is continuing to update her cases with renewals and somehow recently (unbeknownst to me) added my name to the National Database for suspended licensing privileges therefore according to the Superior Civil Court in Yuma, AZ only she can endorse it to be removed. I am 36 years old, this case was from when I was 17, a juvenile. Since back in the year of 2000, the plaintiff whom she was representing sought out other attorneys where I moved to in NH 6 years later. This case was then handled in a capacity in which I was able to appear, and came across an agreement. Since then there have been no activity in Yuma's courts except a renewal she submits every 3 years. Next renewal due to happen in 2020...last renewal was in 2017. In many attempts to contact her has resulted in unsuccessful and due to that is hindering my job that I've held for almost a decade now since my position requires an actual operators license. Maria, please contact me if you see this, please.

Marshall Hunt and his team at Davis Miles are borderline incompetent. Marshall failed to name the correct party in our counterclaim, he also failed to address this concern when it was brought up multiple times throughout the litigation. He admitted to my new counsel that he was not sure who the proper members of my company was, despite it being fairly obvious after receiving discovery. I spent almost $90K and 2 years working with Marshall and Davis Miles, to end up having to fire them right before trial. A basic business attorney should be able to accurately identify the correct parties in a claim. He did not request valuable evidence I asked for like bank statements and credit card statements. They did not serve our default judgement correctly, resulting in our default judgement being set aside. When I first signed up with Davis Miles I asked Marshall if he should be paid via my company or me personally. He recommended my company paying the cost and then after further review suggested we switch to representing me personally. This caused issues in our trial since it then appeared like I was using company funds for personal representation. During the middle of mediation I offered a buyout to the other side and Marshall looked at me dumbfounded stating "I didn't even think of you offering a buyout", despite this being a basic step in almost any business dispute. Marshall and Davis Miles have continued to gaslight my situation and deny any responsibility. After firing Marshall I had to pay additional attorney fees to have my new counsel brought up to speed. I have not had an appropriate resolution offered by Davis Miles even though I have reached out to Alan Soelberg, Robert Sewell, David Williams, and Marshall Hunt. If you look at Davis Miles' BBB profile and 1 star reviews on Google & Yelp they cop out to saying they disagree with facts of the case, can't discuss the particulars of the case, and to reach out to them for a resolution. Don't be fooled. Davis Miles is the Walmart version of a law firm, but without Walmart's refund policy. I will be filing a complaint with the AZ Bar.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
