Ms. Caruso does not know the in and outs of a divorce/custody case. She continuously made mistakes such as sending me to the wrong court house, telling me not to submit documents which was used against me, she failed to give the judge a witness list so we had no witnesses. Once her retainer was paid she refused to meet with me to discuss my case putting me off until 12 days before the trial when she said she would not "embarrass herself" by trying to get me custody. She negotiated things with opposing counsel behind my back like child support which she should have known I am not legally allowed to pay. She put fillings off until the last minute and charged me for records I never received. She missed important emails from opposing counsel, was wrong about the sale of my house, accused me of not being able to pay her saying I owed her thousands of dollars, when she never sent an invoice. She used the excuse I have other clients besides you to explain why she did not return calls or answer emails. I fired her the first day of my trial. I am considering filing a complaint against her with the Bar.

i wouldn't recommend her. i reach out about hiring her she replied with "i cannot offer to assist you with your matter. I cannot see what meaningful help I could lend under these circumstances" an it was a basic WRONGFUL TERMINATION CASE. which is her thing. didn't wanna help other then giving me a 1 800 number

I went through a few lawyers who gave me questionable advices before I came across Kathleen. First of all, she's working directly on my case, not other junior assistants. Second, Kathleen is not only very experienced and knowledgeable about the law, but most importantly, she's consultative and able to advice each step along the way. What's the strategy? What to say/do in what situation? You simply do not get this level of attention and support in other places.

After speaking to Bob multiple times promising a check to us multiple days, lack of communication, told me I was POOR! When I told him I don't want him to represnt me any longer he hung up on me and made the poor lady at the front desk deal with the situation, yup thats very professional.

When my husband was hit by another driver and sustained a serious injury, being a nurse I thought I could handle this. I quickly realized in two weeks time I was clearly over my head. Trying to take care of him, deal with the insurance companies, who were not being very helpful at all, doctor's appts, and home care was taking a toll. I simply could not keep up and we were also dealing with Medicare/liens. Complicated and messy.
The best thing we did was choose Robert MacMeekin to handle our case. Immediately, he put us at ease and calmly and professionally took over. It was easy to get in contact with him the same day. Someone in the office always answered the phone. He assured us we should never hesitate to call and ask questions. When I met Mr. MacMeekin, I was a week out from a car crash that left me with for broken limbs. All I could do was my therapy. My wife was getting threatening letters from insurance companies and the bills already totaled over a 130k. A family friend had recommended Mr. MacMeekin and he took care of everything to do with the insurance companies and we received a settlement within 4 months of the accident.
Mr. MacMeekin worked quickly so that we received all of the Personal Injury Protection money for loss wages instead of it going to the hospital. He worked hard to keep us updated, visiting my room almost weekly so that he could talk to my wife and I.
When it came time to negotiate with the health insurance company, Mr. MacMeekin worked hard to get us every last dollar he could. This was regardless of if the "effort" was worth his fee. He worked for us, knowing that in our situation every little bit could make the difference.

Susan Elgin represented me in a lengthy divorce case. I was extremely impressed with her knowledge of the law, including nuances of which opposing counsel was clueless, with her attention to my circumstances, and with her professional demeanor, which was both efficient and caring. I can't tell you how happy I was to have Susan as my attorney. Her first priority was for the well being of my two children. Horrible! She's arrogant and ill-prepared for court.
She finds ways to increase billable hours and charges 4,000 for one day of court! Most of the work is done by her subpar underling. I would have saved myself tens of thousands had I known this before I hired her.

If I could give zero stars I would, I don't know about the other attorneys at this law firm, Mr. David Daneman get another attorney before allowing Mr. Daneman to handle your case, all about money, very unethical, dont listen to his clients, to busy trying to get paid from everyone involved in your case. I hired him to represent me in my divorce case. He was very unorganized, called and emailed me all the time asking me for things I already gave him and billed me for many hours of pointless meeting so he could increase my bill. He is not polished and he is a bad negotiator. I tried to work with him but he continued to give me bad advice that prolonged my case so he could keep billing. He overcharged me many thousands of dollars for work a para Lea gal could have done. Very unprofessional.

Fred is one of the most bloodsucking lawyers I have ever been represented by in my life. He actually referred to me as his residual income which ended up being almost 70k in work for a child custody case. He colluded with the lawyer we were going against by purposely not handing in a motion to compel into the courthouse( which is a block away from his office) but then gave the motion to compel to the opposing lawyer. So he gave his buddy the motion to compel, and then never handed it in through the courthouse to avoid getting his lawyer friend getting sanctions against him. He missed due dates for documents. He will try and back you into unwanted settlement, end then flip it on you saying you are being unreasonable. He will pass your work off to a less competent lawyer(which will still cost you 375$ hourly) but then will say he has to double check their work, costing you thousands in double payments. Spend your money elsewhere. He’s a terrible person and an even worse lawyer.

David was hired ($5000, retainer) proactively in anticipation of potential defense for false allegation that was made by a perpetrator and to aid in making sure the criminal case against the perpetrator was perfected. For obvious reasons, a charge was never made against me and unbelievably David tried to take credit for it when he had not done any active investigation into the matter despite many requests of him to do so. In addition, we asked that David conduct a proper investigation by interviewing key witnesses and to talk with prosecutor off the record to make sure the Prosecutor put on the best case possible against the perpetrator to get a conviction for the heinous assault. He had 4 months to prepare and to our dismay never interviewed his client in person until a few days before the trial against the perpetrator which was only done after many calls were placed to his office saying he was not doing his job. He never interviewed the witnesses, he never conducted an investigation, he never followed up with the inept prosecutor. The prosecutor never charged me for the obvious reasons as there was no reason to do so as I was truly the victim and yet David tried to take credit when in fact he had not done any investigation other than speak with me over the phone. When it was discovered the prosecutor clearly had the wrong witnesses to prove up the case against Perpetrator, despite many calls to David to intervene, he was never followed up. In addition, he was not very thorough, he was not engaged, he was dismissive and not thoughtful or strategic about the information being given to him. He was degrading, dismissive and at times, egotistical and somewhat beligerant even talking down about having to be on the case to a colleague in front of his client who clearly was the plaintiff/victim. It was obvious that David felt this case was beneath him and the ultimate outcome of not getting a conviction against the perpetrator was the result of David not staying on top of the case or doing the job he was hired to do.

I came to Mr. Irwin as a person afraid and worried about potential charges against him. I had never been arrested, charged, or even spoken to the police until the week before I called him. I didn't know what to do, what not to do, if I was going to jail, etc. I was lost at my next steps.
After speaking to David, he quickly spelled out what's going on, what could happen, and more importantly got to the bottom of the case so quickly that everything was closed within 4 days. Not only am I worry-free and was never arrested, he went about it in a way that soothed my fears as I awaited more news. He told me that I would be fine, and proved it with his actions. Law enforcement never contacted me again.
Mr. Irwin is a good person, a smart man, and more importantly great at his job. I hope I never have to speak to him again, but if I do he's the first person I'm calling with legal troubles. I recommend him without a doubt. He's straight to the point with both his style and humor, and doesn't "beat around the bush". He doesn't believe in wasting your time.

Mr. Ruter was extremely patient with me during a difficult time in my life. On appeal Mr. Ruter had my case overturned, this is a rare accomplishment in Federal Court. When he says he is going to do something, he does it. Never flashy or arrogant, but always a humble professional. Ask around, you will not find a more experienced and competent attorney. The Judge, prosecutors, and Police officers he crossed examined completely respected him, as did the jury when my verdict was read. I owe this man my freedom.

good luck with him . I am not hear to suggest that you do not hire him . I am just posting my experience. I was talked into pleading guilty on my case. after my conviction I filed against him for ineffective assistance of counsel. It is extremely hard for someone to win in federal court for ineffective assistance, but I did win on my 2255 against him. If he would have done atleast a half decent job on my case, lost my 2255 and I would have been away alot longer so I am glad that he did not effectively do his job on my case. I guess sometimes, it pays to hire an attorney like him. All of this is a matter of public record so if you want to read it ,it is at the federal courthouse on lombard street.

Dealing with HOA fees owed (so I see in other reviews with similar experiences, so no wonder these people are miserable).
Lied about offering me a payment plan, all my letters state the payment must be received in FULL but yet now that the balance is astronomical they offer a payment plan.
Both the women in the office have vile attitudes while lying about Richard Drury not being available to speak. Richard Drury himself only further the lies and nasty attitude.
Stay away from these people. They don’t care about anything except money.
