I didn't realize how busy Attorney Caldwell was and my family felt I should retain a backup Attorney. Since I was under financial duress I took their advice and sought out the best. My main choice was an ex Judge, but she was unavailable, because her husband was ill and she was not able to take on any more cases, She recommended me to an ex district attorney who had gone into private practice. I did my research and found out he was one of the best and I called my family and told him what the deal was and they say okay okay call him and hire him. I called him and explain my situation I asked him about my attorney or I believe he asked me who is my attorney was and once I told him attorney Gene Caldwell, this ex prosecutor well known told me that he could not do no better than Gene Caldwell. That's how good he is. Since then I have recommended him to a lot of people everyone has been satisfied.

Mr. Caldwell represented me on a felony case i was charged Nacogdoches Tx, I was blessed with him being court appointed to me. After going to court a few times Mr. Caldwell came to me and said im going to talk to the DA and get this case thrown out. I was so greatful and surprised. I know im not supposed to admit this but to prove my case he had my case thrown out and im not bragging also not proud of it, but i was guilty as sin

Mr. Caldwell not only has been a respectful person but he has been a person I can truly trust he has been there and worked very fast on whatever I was needing in the help of my current case. He is by far the best lawyer in my eyes he takes away the stress of having to worry about your case because he makes sure he fights for you to the end. He is highly respected and I know he will have my business if I ever need him again and I would refer him over any attorney in Tyler. He is affordable and he gets the job done just as good as anyone else I know .

My Daughter had a divorce and custody battle and we had to get a last minute attorney and she was fast in getting all the information we had already had a lawyer before but we were not able to pay everything on time with the other attorney so he withdrew. So we had one month to get a new lawyer before the final trial and Michelle did great she did somthing where the other party was not able to have any witnesses to testify which was great on our part. We won great attorney.

Christina is absolutely the worst lawyer ever. During your consultation she sounds amazing and all and then once you hire her, she’s no help whatsoever and doesn’t care anymore about your situation. If I could give her 0 stars I would. I only talked to her maybe once and the rest of the time I talked to everyone else in the building instead of the actual attorney I hired!!!! DO NOT HIRE.

Ms. Davis was no better than a Legal-Aid attorney. Poor communication with her client. Rude and sassy with a constant attitude. This Law Firm in general has serious ethical issues. She made all kinds of promises and threw a great sales pitch to get me to hire her. However, once hired she was as useless as a used car salesman. Horrible experience with her and this entire firm.

Rebecca Henderson is an awesome attorney. She was very thorough and explained the process completely. I have read some of the negative reviews and I don’t think they gave her a fair review. I went into the situation with patients knowing that the Government process works very slow and attorneys don’t have control of timelines. Rebecca Henderson is an attorney who stands behind her clients. She doesn’t fill you with fake promises and tells you like it is.

I am trying to contact Rebecca R Henderson for( an appointment ) in the nearest future . I have an appointment with the psychologist October 5 2022, about an disability case 1999+ 2022. I believe I am being miss represented with my son Michael as my payee it should be my son Marcus hill . I am 10% disable with the fact I had brain surgery 2004 . Yes it was a success I am no longer having headaches. With that fact I believe I should always have income of 700$ . I was discontinue this year but I am appealing on the fact I can work for at least 4 hours per day with the right lawyer and doctor. Do you have time for this important matter to me my family is struggling with income and I would like to solve this matter as soon as possible. I would recommend this lawyer to people who do not choose to have the accurate solution to solve the reason why they are having problems and choose to stay on Disabilities without working or changes to the case file.

I went to Mr. Miller because he advertises that he hates insurance companies and is willing to do whatever is possible to make things right. I am here to tell you this is a false statement made by a horrible man. Mr. Miller and his "law team"..if you want to call them that, met with me and advised me to see their doctors. I was injured and stressed so I thought I will just do what the attorney says, I was a sheep, it is a cut and dry case I was rear ended and didn't think it would turn into what it has. In short I started with questions about my care, how long I was to continue going to Carefirst, when I might get actual medical care, and how much was it going to cost me. I NEVER GOT INFORMATION, about anything, from anyone. People at Carefirst refused to give me any information about my billing and Mr. Miller told me in our one meeting that "I would be surprised how numbers shrank as settlement approached". Mr. Miller in the one meeting we had treated me like an idiot who should not be asking questions and should be happy I was getting anything at all. My son was a passenger in the car when we were struck and per the instructions of a "law team member" I purchased a new carseat out of pocket. I was told by this employee that I would be reimbursed no problem, her exact words were "they challenge us on a lot, but not child safety, its simple and should take about 10 days to get a reimbursement check". Once I finally ordered the carseat, and submitted for my refund, I never got it. I got bullied by another employee and eventually had to go directly to Mr. Miller for money. He instructed me that "It was hard for people who have money, to understand people who don't", and that he was advancing me the purchase price of the carseat until the settlement was final or the reimbursement check was sent. Shortly after this incident, after thanksgiving, I received a file and a letter stating that Mr. Miller was no longer representing me and he was not charging me for the "work, and efforts" he and his team had already done. Also, that I should accept the money for the carseat as an early Christmas present and not worry about repaying him. Which in short meant his "team" never got the reimbursement check. I honestly don't know what work they did for me other than getting my car fixed at a location I specifically asked them not to. FINALLY the bills came...between my mother and I Mr. Miller racked up over $21,000 in medical at Carefirst and Texas Spine and joint, an out of network facility that his "team member" was supposed to check on before allowing my mother to have MRI's there. The bottom line is these two places are the doctors and hospitals Mr. Miller states in his commercials that he has access to. He sends people there because he is receiving kickbacks from the companies when settlements are made. Mr. Millers "team members" made the choice to file on my mothers personal medical insurance for the carefirst charges without her knowledge after they dropped us...something that they are not authorized to do because they are not medically licensed to do so. They did this because they wanted to ensure their Carefirst people got paid, as to not offend them and keep the relationship strong. At the end of the day my simple rear end collission that caused myself and my mother a lot of pain and anguish was turned into a catastrophe by Mr. Miller and his "law team". The level of unprofessional behavior at their office is astronomical. If you are accustomed to being treated like a stupid female, or enjoy being hung up on, yelled at, or spoken to as though you were beneath people, this is the place for you. Don't count on getting any money for your case from Mr. Miller. If you see him request that you see your own doctors, and use your insurance to pay them.

She was unprofessional from the time she took my sons case. She doesn't follow up with her client. She belittled myself and my son when we had questions. She will tell you she has other cases to tend to as if you're not a priority as well. She threatened my son to take a plea that he did not want to take in court and if he didn't she was not going to continue with his case. She does not speak like an attorney. She does not dress appropriately in court, in fact she had on a pair of nursing crock shoes with a dress. She was late to court. Not one time before my sons court date did she visit him or contact him about his case. She is rude, talks over you, and her attitude is nasty. This is not the person you would want to represent you or a loved one. She will not fight for you.

I first make contact with this law firm back in July and spoke to Linda Pesnell, Legal Assistant of William D. Farrar. Spoke about my potential case I explained the details and she asked me to send over a contract for review. I haven't heard from her for about maybe a couple of weeks so I decide to call it back to get an update she laughed and joked and said yeah you know Mr Farrar will review the case and get back to me. I sent a few emails that's a few messages. She returned my phone call and told me she is so sorry she put the file on his desk but he's just been not paying attention and that she would follow up and reassured me that someone will contact me. Well, several weeks passed and again I sent emails and plus messages. However I did not receive a phone call so I left another message and send some additional emails and then after several more weeks I get a call and she says oh I'm so sorry I will celebrating my birthday so I couldn't get back to you in a timely matter I will let Mr Farrar know. After another couple of weeks I hear nothing so I left a message and send emails. Then she calls me and says oh we apologize but Mr f a r r a r will be unable to take your case. So I asked, out of the inconvenience of me waiting almost 2 months could you please find someone for me or refer me to another attorney. She said okay and I never heard from her since. Completely unprofessional I would highly advise that you do not use their services.

John Berry gave my civil case to Mr. Richardson. I contacted Mr. Richardson 8-09-16 to inquire about the status of my case and he replied my case had no priority, there was nothing else I could do and he had to go to lunch. I called the law office of John Berry (his associate) to inquire about a bill I received for $270 and complained of Mr. Richardsons comments on 7-07-17 and was told by his secretary for a phone number I could be reached at, that was 3 weeks ago. I am still waiting for a response as of today 7-31-17.

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.
  8. Do you have references from past clients?
Testimonials or references can provide insight into the lawyer's professionalism and effectiveness.
  9. What are the strengths and weaknesses of my case?
Understanding potential challenges helps you prepare and sets realistic expectations.
  10. Are there alternative ways to solve my legal problem?
Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
