This review is long overdue. For 5+ years, Tim helped me with my divorce, buying my ex out of our house and a custody case. In all these cases, Tim got me the most favorable outcome due to his diligence, intellect, and work ethic. He always returned my calls and emails in a timely matter and guided me successfully. I felt his prices were fair. I can not recommend him highly enough!

Where to start. Doesn’t respond, doesn’t know how to respond to motions, loses paperwork, sticks up for the other party. When he does call back calls with an attitude, cuts you off and doesn’t listen, then run to his senior partner with false accusations who is Louis Simonetti and he will back this thing up no matter what. This guy doesn’t have a clue, if it weren’t for me putting together some responses, god only knows what would have happened. Not sure if it’s inexperience or just simply doesn’t know what he’s doing. He can’t take any pressure whatsoever, a mediator was beating him down. He will take your money for sending emails but will do nothing with the actual email, not even read it. I sent him 3 offered to settle but yet never once sent it over. When the other party sent one he didn’t even read it, as he admitted when I questioned him about how ridiculous the offer was. All he wants to do and will do is sit back and take your money and watch you suffer.

I entered into this process with very little understanding of procedure and my rights. I had many concerns, questions and fears. Tim Fallon and his entire team provided professional and knowledgeable legal advice and support. My concerns and questions were always answered thoughtfully. I am highly satisfied with my representation and appreciate their efforts. You are in great hands with Tim.

I hired Barbara Moore for a custody case over 12 years ago,.....she informed me that we had lost in court one day because the judge had lost a sports bet with her the night before and was still angry. She laughed. It wasn't funny to me at all, my child's well-being was at stake.....then for a year after my case, she harassed my mother for a payment that she had already made, but was "lost" when she joined the puff and cockerill firm during my trial. Would not ever reccomend.

Just got off of the phone with Geoffrey on a zoom meeting and just about had to laugh at how different my perception of him was after reading the reviews vs after speaking to him for no more than 5 minutes. Last night I spent a good hour Reading through all the reviews, trying to be really selectiveas who I choose to represent me in a landlord, tenant dispute. After reading through, I was pretty much convinced that he would be the right choice, especially given that I am also a business owner and would find need to use his services in other areas of law for my company. I was totally wrong and I'm glad I saved my money for a firm that will truly deserve it. Within five minutes of our conversation, he and Alyssa pulled up my case and assumed he could represent me without even hearing certain details of my defense in my case against the landlord. After requesting specific intentions of his approach on this case and his experience on such a case, he arrogantly got an attitude and hung up on me while Alyssa stared with a blank face with no further words. So as I am glad that I will save money and find a more sincere firm that actually cares about more than just collecting a retainer and will actually LISTEN to their clients voice, I just felt that it was important to share my personal experience as someone who let the reviews lead me to believe that this was "the right" firm. I genuinely got the feeling that it was all about the retainer. I guess that explains why there's no photos of himself online to be found. It really makes me wonder if he paid for these reviews because its definitely NOT the same person I was reading about. So since you couldn't hear what I had to say for a fee, you can take this negative review for free :)

Top Questions to Ask a Lawyer

When meeting with a lawyer for the first time, it's important to ask the right questions to understand their expertise and determine if they're the right fit for your legal needs. Here are some top questions to consider:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. What potential outcomes can I expect from my case?

  4. What is your approach to handling cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. Who will be working on my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the likely timeline for resolving my case?
Get an estimate of how long the process may take from start to finish.

Discuss options like mediation, arbitration, or settlement to resolve the issue efficiently.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  1. Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  2. Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association.
  4. Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, or Google to gauge client satisfaction.
  5. Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field.
  6. Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation.
  7. Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  8. Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  1. Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as contracts, correspondence, legal notices, court papers, or evidence.
  2. Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and involved parties.
  3. List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, or the lawyer's experience.
  4. Financial Information:
If applicable, bring financial documents like pay stubs, tax returns, or bank statements.
  5. Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case.
  6. Personal Identification:
Bring a valid ID for verification purposes.
  7. Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points.
  8. Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations.

How Much Does a Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a lawyer varies widely based on several factors:

  • Fee Structures:
    • Hourly Rate:
Lawyers may charge anywhere from $150 to $500 or more per hour, depending on experience and location.
    • Flat Fee:
For routine legal services like drafting a will or handling an uncontested divorce, lawyers might offer a flat fee.
    • Retainer Fee:
An upfront payment against which the lawyer bills hourly fees.
    • Contingency Fee:
Common in personal injury cases; the lawyer receives a percentage (typically 25% to 40%) of any settlement or award.
    • Monthly Retainer:
For ongoing services, businesses might pay a monthly fee for a set number of hours or services.
  • Factors Affecting Cost:
    • Complexity of the Case:
More complex cases require more time and resources, increasing costs.
    • Lawyer's Experience:
Highly experienced lawyers may charge higher fees.
    • Geographic Location:
Legal fees can vary significantly by region or city.
    • Additional Expenses:
Court filing fees, expert witness fees, travel expenses, and administrative costs may be extra.
  • Estimating Total Costs:
Request a detailed fee agreement outlining all potential costs.
Discuss any additional expenses that may arise during the case.
  • Negotiating Fees:
Some lawyers may be willing to negotiate fees or offer payment plans, especially for clients with financial constraints.
  • Pro Bono Services:
For those who cannot afford legal services, some lawyers or legal aid organizations offer services at reduced rates or for free.
