Slime. This man will happily screw good and bad people. He's known to overcharge for his less than useful guidance and has been dumped by countless clients for that reason. Exaggerates his experience on the Labor board and continually costs clients thousands and thousands of dollars after NLRB makes decisions on his cases. Do not ever hire or trust this man. There are TONS of labor lawyers on MO worth being represented by. Terry Potter is as cheap and unreliable as his knockoff wizard name. Would give 0 stars if possible on Google.

He takes cases to make money even though he doesn't do much if anything to prepare. Unprepared, unexpected cancel meetings or does not show up, etc. Leaves his hotel room door open walking around in his underwear (during the time of our trial). Unbelievable.

I couldn't disagree with the One star reviewer more. George was a member of the Mizzou faculty, but left the University and remains perhaps the lawyer in Columbia who can take a case against the University with a reasonable expectation of winning. If you case has no chance we will advise you accordingly. He felt my case was a wait and see; no I'm ready to hire him.

Do not hire this lawyer. This lawyer is unethical and unqualified. For example, we discussed terms and conditions before we agreed on a contract. After signing the contract, he changed several key terms and conditions, including how the payments and fees were distributed, citing his right to change it under the contract. He barely did any preparation for the trial, just meeting me for a few hours the day before the trial. And nearly everything he did, he did to bolster the opposing side's case and weaken mine. When I confronted him on this, he refused to answer my questions. I have significant proof to what he did that I am willing to make available to anyone. Finally, although I told him to withdraw from my case, he "ignored" my email even though he had received it, continuing to speak with the opposing side's attorney. This person is an abomination to the legal field.

Very arrogant. Did not listen to what I told him. Didn't file important papers. Said he would take care of it but didn't. He has a reputation for when I sought another lawyer they were aware of his shortcomings. Wished I would have known this before I hired him and wasted my money.

This attorney is arrogant and abrasive to his clients ( especially women and children). He will have cases continued repeatedly to increase his billing hours. Several office appointments where we reviewed the same facts repeatedly. Court day was sloppy, and unprepared. Opposing attorney entered several pieces of evidence with no objections that should have been . This made an appeal hearing difficult. He forgot to call my witnesses, and enter some key pieces of evidence we had. This attorney at this point in his career seemed more focused on fraternizing than winning my case.

I went to this firm to protect my rights when separating from my handicapped wife (mainly for financial reasons). I found this firm after an internet search, and like every other man out there, saw that they catered to men and the man’s rights. I wanted this process to be amicable and fair, but I also did not want to pay maintenance. However, Erin made me bitter and made me feel entitled to more than I deserved. They will do anything to undermine the other spouse in the situation by discrediting them. She convinced me that my handicapped wife should be able to work and that I didn’t really owe her anything after a nearly 30 year marriage. This has been a terrible experience, leaving me feeling like a complete dirtbag. Since we were only separating for financial reasons (knowing that it could be changed to a divorce if need be) I had hoped we would be able to maintain some kind of relationship and maybe even work on reconciliation at some point. Instead, I am now not only estranged from my wife but have lost my children as well. The rest of my family (my parents and two brothers and sisters) also are extremely upset with me. I have lost life long friends over this and have lost the respect of so many others. Our adult children will not see me and haven’t spoken to me in over a year in a half. They also have written me the “Dear John” letter stating their displeasure with me and stating they are cutting ties with me and wish to no longer have a relationship with me. If you are completely devout of all compassion for others and want an absolute unethical shark then this firm is for you. If you are a reasonable human being and have any compassion STAY AWAY

All this did was leave me in limbo. She didn't answer phone call or emails until I her boss. The attorney that replaced her did as asked and my case is now settled.

Divorce is never a fun event to go through in life for anyone. It is a very emotional period for anyone going through it and if the wrong decisions are made it can wreak havoc in both your personal and financial life for many years to come. I learned this the hard way when I initially went through my divorce without representation thinking I could trust my ex-spouse and that we would have an amicable separation and agree to equitable time with our daughter. Unfortunately, that was a mistake that I paid for dearly in my emotional and financial health as well as that of my daughter’s. Fortunately, it is never too late to turn a wrong into a right. I am a very loving father of my daughter and all I wanted was to have equal time with her but I did not get that during the first divorce proceeding when I was unrepresented by counsel. Instead, I lost all custody and almost all my rights to my daughter. Luckily, after calling upon numerous attorneys that specialize in my very unique case I was able to retain Susan Hais and Erin Zielinkski of Hais, Hais & Goldberger, P.C. Choosing a law firm is THE most important decision you will ever make that could significantly alter the outcome of your divorce case. Having been through what I have been through, which was a very tough case and mountain to climb at the beginning, I am very proud to say that due to the untiring efforts and amazing legal strategy of Hais, Hais & Goldberger, P.C., I successfully had my original divorce decree voided by the court. As I was told by other prominent divorce attorneys the odds of a divorce decree being voided are less than a two percent chance. However, through the dedication and untiring work of Susan Hais and Erin Zielinksi we made it happen. Most importantly, I now have joint legal and physical custody of my daughter and have ensured that my daughter will not grow up without her Dad. I am FOREVER grateful for the difference that Hais, Hais & Goldberger, P.C., has made to my life and my daughter’s life. From the time you enter their office and you are warmly greeted by their receptionist, Nancy, through the initial consultation and all the way through litigation this firm HAS YOUR BACK and will not sacrifice or leave any rock unturned to ensure the best outcome. I felt all the way through the process that it wasn’t just my attorneys Susan and Erin working for me but it was the entire law firm working to win my case. They knew how high the stakes were in my case and the impact it could have on the future of my daughter. When you need the best of the best in family law there is no comparison to the attorneys at Hais, Hais & Goldberger, P.C. As a former military officer, I proudly give them the title of Top Gun in family law practice and providing the best experience.

Joseph Bante is in a very nice office but he is the most incompetent AWFUL lawyer who will NOT fight for you but will make you think and feel that he is. He is friends with all the lawyers and judges and will screw you over even after you fire him and obtain different counsel. He stutters and it takes him way too long to compose a thought in his mind. He is not eloquent or articulate; it’s atrocious to hear him speak. He will over bill you and then destroy your chances at whatever it is you’re fighting for. DO NOT MEET WITH OR HIRE JOSEPH BANTE!

She got the house and the car and cleaned out my bank account. I had to try to fight for myself and it didn’t work. I’ve always was a better person then my ex. She never took care of the kids and I only slept for 5-6 hours a week. And now I’m taking him, my ex wife’s laywer and the judges to federal court. 1500 dollars up front then 400 per month took her 3 months to draft a petition in my family court case and why not? I was still paying her. Finally signed the petition which took another 2 months to file with the court, again still paying 400 bucks a month. After the first court appearance (which she was late for) could not get a return email or phone call from the office unless it was to collect payment. Finally got sick of her and hired new counsel that actually helped me. I have now been waiting a year for an itemized bill (was never provided one the entire time she was my attorney) and refund of any over payment. Hire with extreme caution!

I hired this firm for a civil real estate complaint. Thomas Federer passed me off to three different underlings in his Firm. Federer failed to keep me reasonably informed, would not respond to written questions, and even failed to show up for a scheduled Court date. If I had not personally appeared that day and asked the Judge for a continuance, my case would have likely been dismissed. After requesting my written permission for implementing discovery and to file a notice for depositions, it still took the Firm over a year to file such a notice. This Firm is great at generating billing, but not in accomplishing adequate representation.

I hired brandy for a case involving my children. She is nice at first but before you know it (after she gets paid) she hardly ever responded to any of my texts, e-mails or phone calls! Half the time she wouldn't even show up to a scheduled appointment and when she did she was always always late! She didn't show up for court at least 5 times and it was important hearings that put my kids and I on a very thin line with not saying a word to me or other clients Brandy is untrustworthy and will fail you! A 5 year old could do a better job then her! She is soooo full of excuses and would never just shut up and listen to me! Brandy decided to re locate with no communication to me and along with other clients saying what she was doing! I am far from the only one who feels this way! Brandy is selfish and has no place being a attorney at law or anything important! I'm in the process of having her disbarred (which she has once already been) She acts like she's cares but drops off the face of the earth! She (how I feel) stole my money and never did her job.. Not even a little bit! I will stop at nothing to make sure everyone knows how she is! Brandy also drinks a lot or taking one of her many meds she told me about.. even durning court and while in office! She is a disgrace! I am normally loving and easy going but when my kids are at stake my gloves come off!

I hired Larry Bagsby for an employment - wrongful termination matter. He signed me up on a contingency (1/3) basis. It took pokes and prods to get him to move on my case. I terminated him. I made an appointment several weeks ago, and the day before my appointment called their office to verify my appointment was for 9 a.m. I don't typically make appointments that far away that early in the morning. I was told my appointment was correct for 9 a.m. So, I left my house at 7:30 a.m. drove mountainous roads through the fog and nearly had a wreck twice. Arriving about 20 minutes early I checked in with the receptionist. She told me that my appointment wasn't until 10. Without raising my voice, I asked her to verify this. When she persisted, I told her that I was there early, that I had called to verify, and that I expected to be seen by Mr. Finkenbinder. He then came out apologized and said this wasn't a "good omen," and that he declined to represent me. Who does business like this?"

A lot of money went to accomplish nothing as well as continuous threats when I questioned as to why something was done. Good luck if you have retained her. Our court paperwork was filed incorrectly, our case was a "Total Loss" (that's his words) and the judge ruled that we pay the other parties lawyer fees and increased child support but Mr. Steele NEVER NOTIFIED us of this and now I find out about it because of a garnishment on my paycheck. What a Business Lawyer Can Do for You

A business lawyer provides critical legal guidance and support to entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses. Whether you are forming a new company, drafting contracts, or navigating complex regulations, a business attorney ensures you are legally protected and operating within the law. They can also help prevent legal disputes or represent you in negotiations, transactions, or lawsuits that arise during the course of business operations.

Business lawyers have expertise in areas such as business formation, contract law, intellectual property, employment law, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. They ensure that your business is compliant with relevant laws and help mitigate risks that could threaten your company's success.

When Should I Hire a Business Lawyer?

Hiring a business lawyer is essential at various stages of business development, including:

  • Forming a business: When deciding on the best structure for your company (LLC, corporation, partnership, etc.), a lawyer can guide you through the registration and compliance process.
  • Drafting contracts: If you need contracts for employees, partners, suppliers, or clients, a lawyer ensures these documents are legally sound and in your best interest.
  • Mergers, acquisitions, or dissolutions: If you are buying, selling, or dissolving a company, legal counsel is critical to avoid costly mistakes.
  • Compliance and regulatory issues: A lawyer can help navigate complex regulations, particularly in industries like healthcare, finance, or tech.
  • Resolving disputes: Whether it's contract disagreements, intellectual property infringement, or employment issues, a business lawyer helps mediate, negotiate, or litigate on your behalf.

What Does a Business Lawyer Do?

Business lawyers provide a wide range of services that cater to different legal needs of a business. They can:

  • Help you choose the best legal structure for your business.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with employees, suppliers, customers, or business partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Advise on tax strategies to minimize your business's tax burden.
  • Assist with intellectual property protection, such as trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
  • Handle mergers, acquisitions, and business sales, ensuring all legal paperwork is in order.
  • Resolve disputes through negotiation, arbitration, or litigation.

How Are Business Lawyers Paid?

Business lawyers typically charge either by the hour or on a flat-fee basis, depending on the complexity of the work. Common payment structures include:

  • Hourly rates: The lawyer charges based on the time spent working on your case. Rates vary depending on the lawyer's experience and location.
  • Flat fees: For certain tasks, such as incorporating a business or drafting a standard contract, a lawyer may offer a flat fee.
  • Retainer: Some businesses may hire a lawyer on retainer, paying a fixed amount each month to have ongoing access to legal services.

The payment structure is often discussed during an initial consultation so you can choose the one that best suits your business needs and budget.

How Much Does a Business Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a business lawyer depends on factors such as:

  • The complexity of the legal issue: More complex matters, like mergers or intellectual property disputes, typically cost more than routine tasks like contract drafting.
  • The lawyer's experience and location: More experienced lawyers or those in larger cities often charge higher fees.
  • The nature of the billing arrangement: Hourly rates can range from $150 to $1,000 or more, depending on the lawyer's expertise. Flat fees are usually available for simpler matters like forming an LLC or drafting a standard contract.

It's essential to discuss fee structures upfront to avoid surprises.

Top Questions to Ask a Business Lawyer

Before hiring a business lawyer, ask the following questions during your consultation:

  1. What is your experience with businesses like mine?
Find out if the lawyer has handled legal issues for companies in your industry.
  2. What services do you offer?
Ensure the lawyer can meet all your business's legal needs, from contract drafting to dispute resolution.
  3. What are your fees, and how do you bill?
Get clarity on how you'll be charged - whether by the hour, flat fee, or retainer.
  4. How do you handle conflicts of interest?
Ask how the lawyer ensures there is no conflict in representing your business.
  5. Can you provide references from other business clients?
Speaking with past clients will give you an idea of the lawyer's expertise and professionalism.
  6. Do you have experience in my specific industry?
Industry-specific knowledge can be crucial, especially in highly regulated fields like healthcare or finance.

How to Check the Credibility of a Business Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable business lawyer:

  • Check state bar association records: Verify that the lawyer is in good standing and has no disciplinary actions against them.
  • Look for client reviews or testimonials: Online reviews, testimonials, or word of mouth from other business owners can provide insight into the lawyer's reliability and effectiveness.
  • Ask for references: A credible lawyer should have satisfied clients who can vouch for their services.
  • Check professional memberships: Membership in respected legal organizations (such as the American Bar Association or a local business lawyer association) can signal credibility.
  • Review their website and professional profile: A well-established lawyer typically has a professional website showcasing their areas of expertise, credentials, and case success.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most out of your first consultation with a business lawyer, prepare the following:

  • A description of your business and its structure: This will help the lawyer understand your legal needs.
  • Any current contracts or agreements: If you're seeking contract advice, bring copies of existing contracts.
  • A list of legal issues or concerns: Be ready to discuss any potential legal challenges, such as regulatory compliance, disputes, or transactions.
  • Financial documents: If applicable, bring financial records related to the legal matter you're seeking help with.
  • Questions about fees and billing: Ensure you understand the lawyer’s payment structure and fees upfront.

By preparing these materials, you can ensure that your first meeting with a business lawyer is productive and informative.
