I was introduced to Megaen through a colleague who had hired her for estate planning purposes and who'd highly recommended her.
Because estate planning involves very personal and emotional decisions, I wanted to make sure that my attorney wasn't just competent, but also empathetic and flexible to my and my family's specific needs. I came to Megaen for help handling my late aunt’s estate/probate. Megaen was willing to take on my case when others wouldn’t. I didn’t have the resources to pay up front so others refused to help me. For this reason, messy family issues I was dealing with regarding the estate, and the fact that I lived in southwest Idaho and my aunt’s estate was in Spokane, I was extremely stressed and overwhelmed when I came to Megaen. Megaen helped ease that and guide me through the messiness. In addition to the standard probate process she had to deal with senior abuse, financial abuse, family issues, theft & fraud, major financial mistakes made by a bank and their, etc, etc, etc. She handled all of this smoothly, efficiently, and very professionally. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her. No words can truly capture how thankful I am for her and all that she did. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. We retained Megaen Childress to assist us in separating from a family owned LLC without losing what legally belonged to us. The legal system is very complicated for a lay person and Megaen was able to answer a million questions and represent us through mediation and litigation successfully. She was very responsive to us and occasionally called back even on the week-ends when we were in need of immediate advice. Our situation was both contentious and complicated and not once did Megaen lose her cool, even in the face of threats. My husband was heavily medicated as he was under hospice care for stage 4 cancer. I was medicated due to depression. Mr Curran was recommended to us by Spokane Hospice as someone who would come to our house to update my husband's will. I do not believe Mr Curran did his best work for us. My husband was very distraught and agitated, I did my best not to upset him anymore than necessary, and signed off on his will. Unfortunately, even though he asked if I understood what I was signing off on, I still signed, walked away crying and let the witnesses finish up with the lawyer. I understood that the will said everything was going to his children, but I also assumed I could contest the will, as signing was an act of kindness to a dying man, who repeatedly told me not to worry, that I was being taken care of. When Mr Curran left our home, he took my phone with him. It was three days of me looking before he called to say he had it.
When my husband passed away his sisters were the executors of the estate. Imagine my suprise when 5 weeks after his passing, after living in this house for 10 years, I was served with an eviction notice... 3 days to get out, served on me by his sister and written up by none other than Mr Curran. Was he my husband's lawyer or his sister's lawyer? I felt there was some conflict of interest... probably wrong on that point, but still I don't think he took in my husband's mental state, or mine, into consideration. He most certainly did not consider what happened to me afterwards, and Oh My Gosh. He took my phone.

I was unfairly terminated from my previous employer due to a disability and Mr. Kirby did a phenomenal job from beginning to end. He took my case despite my previous employer's clout in the community and was open with me about how their reputation may affect the process and the outcome.
Mr. Kirby was thorough, diligent, and I greatly appreciated his patience with me as I was still reeling from my termination. It was obvious from the beginning that he cared not just about winning, but he was also angry on my behalf for how I was treated. He explained the legal process in a way I could understand so that I could make informed decisions. As Mr. Kirby explained, he was my lawyer, so he wanted me to direct the decision-making.
Mr. Kirby seemed to have great relationships within the local legal community. He was also always on top of deadlines and often wanted to get paperwork filed well before the deadline.
Finally, I don't know if I would have made it through that time of my life in one piece if it hadn't been for his encouragement and his excellence and genuine care in dealing with my case. Even if we hadn't had a positive outcome, I feel very grateful for Mr. Kirby and would recommend him to anyone.
