Several years ago, my parents asked me to manage their finances in the event they could not manage themselves. It seemed like an easy enough request. I felt confident that I could pay their bills on time and keep the check book balanced. Besides, my mother was indestructible and would never, ever need my help with this.
But in 2001, my dad’s health failed and my mom was diagnosed with dementia. It was then that I realized that I had agreed to something that I was never prepared to handle.
I met Mike Vogel at the very beginning of this very difficult time in my life. Mom and dad had done their powers of attorney for health care documents incompletely so both needed legal guardianship. Dad’s would later be reversed but mom’s continued until her death in 2007.
During the span of 7 years, Mike helped me navigate the very confusing legal system. My education as an RN did little to help me understand the complexities of legal guardianship of the estate for mom which included very detailed accounting of her finances every year. He assisted me with the sale of their home, which I had never done before. He advised me in the management of separate financial accounts for each of them and helped me with their taxes. When dad died in 2005, he helped me as executor of dads estate, which again I had to knowledge of how to do and then helped me with settling mom’s estate after her death in 2007.
It is impossible in a short paragraph to tell you just how ill equipped I was to manage mom and dad’s affairs. It was far more involved than simply paying the bills on time. I turned the trust that they had in me over to Mike who helped me every step of the way through a very long and emotionally difficult 6 years. He did so with knowledge, expertise and compassion and I could never have done it without him.

Sarah settled my father's estate. She gave me an estimate of her price in advance. Sarah was very professional and called or emailed me when there was something for me to sign or discuss. She didn't waste my time and gave me the option to do some of the mailings, etc. which saved me money. She also handled the closing/title work for my father's property. Her total bill came in for less than what I was quoted.

Mr Santarelli (my second ATTY in the case) handled my case in the best way possible and with superior restraint and professionalism. Our opposition handled their case Pro Se.
He was very knowledgeable in an area that is not his specialty.
A case that should have been done in one or two visits to court took 3 1/2 years. Once Mr Santarelli came on board, he dealt with mistakes prior to his serivce and things became streamlined and went much quicker and more stuctured.

Karl Kelz helped me on a case where I wasn't guilty of the crime the DA charged me with. The DA tried to get me to take a plea deal and I didn't know what to do. I hired Mr. Kelz based on a recommendation from a friend. I am so glad I did. Mr. Kelz looked into my case and argued with the DA and went to court and got my case dismissed. It was for OWI and a conviction would have cost me my job.
Mr. Kelz was very professional but treated like a person not some criminal. He explained the case every step of the way so I could understand and always returned calls usually the same day.
I think his fees are very worth it, if you want a great attorney who will fight for you. Hire him if you want to win.

I could not have asked for a better lawyer than Stephanie. I hired her to do an estate plan for my husband and me. She met with us at our home in the evening, which was so convenient because my husband and I both work and we have small children. She guided us through the whole process and she was incredibly patient when we wanted to make changes. Her prices were also extremely reasonable - less than half of what we were quoted by other lawyers. Plus, her daughter works with her, so we know that even if Stephanie retires, we'll be able to stay with the same law firm forever. I cannot say enough good things about our experience!

While it is unfortunate that I needed to engage counsel for an action against one of the major brokerage and investment banking firms, I am very fortunate to have been introduced to Seth Hill of Halling & Cayo. Simply stated, Seth is an outstanding attorney!
Seth is smart, professional, methodical and tenacious, which is precisely what I need given the complexities of the case and who opposing counsel is. Additionally, unlike many litigators who come off as being aggressive and combative, Seth is soft spoken, reasonable and tempered. I do not doubt that he can flip the switch when and if he needs to, but his demeanor seems to be that of a deal maker with one eye towards settlement and the other towards trial, as opposed to others who might only want to fight, sometimes at the expense of their clients.
