Was headed to work about 11:50am On a Tuesday morning. Sitting next to a moving advertising van at the red light Northbound Southfield making right to service drive.he had the inside lane I had the outside. Nice bright fresh white paint on the street clearly marking where to properly drive. The light turns green and we proceed, this guy cut across 3 lanes to get in front of me almost hitting my front bumper in the process. No turn signal. No indication. He never looked. I’ve heard of ambulance chasers but this place takes it to another level. He was either drunk or gathering clients. Either way very dangerous

Mr. Vernier was able to get my OUI ticket dismissed, on a separate occasion he was able to get me probation on a possession charge. Very good Lawyer. Would use him again in future and definitely recommend him to others.

This attorney did not seem to care about me as a client. He did not keep me informed on what was going on with the case, and I felt as if I could not trust him. Research carefully when choosing an attorney, as I did not :(

I worked with Joe for over a year, and would advise you to seek a different attorney. He did not appear to care at all about my case, and passed it on to a different attorney without my knowlede. He did not keep me informed at all. I wish I would have had done more research about him and his firm prior to hiring him. Hopefuly this review will help you with your decision.

David Hill refuse to respond to clients calls and doesn’t work diligently or promptly. David was reprimanded by the State of Michigan for professional misconduct in March 2012 for basically the same reasons I am writing this review, see: “ The hearing panel found that respondent committed professional misconduct by neglecting a legal matter entrusted to him, in violation of MRPC 1.1 (c); failed to seek the lawful objectives of his client, in violation of MRPC 1.2(a); failed to act with diligence and promptness, in violation of MRPC 1.3; and failed to make reasonable efforts to expedite the litigation filed on his client's behalf, in violation of MRPC 3.2. The panel ordered that respondent be reprimanded and be subject to a condition relevant to the established misconduct. Costs were assessed in the amount of $2,548.47.” Nothing has changed, he still behaves this way, and becomes aggressive when asked to give account. Sadly, this present experience has required another complaint to the State Bar of Michigan. Unfortunate.

This so called attorney David Hill should.be disbarred..........absolutely no communication at all.....settles for pennies.on the dollar and then you have to wait MONTHS after you ha e settled to get your money......and.you have to call him 100 times to get it......the worst lawyer I have ever dealt with and ive dealt with a good number of them.........Louie is pretty good but I dont understand why he would partner with a lazy incompetent attorney who could care less about his clients. Every one who deals with David is left frustrated to the point of wanting to physically hurt him. This guy has no place in the practice of law.........at all

75 yr old widower seeking court order for 31 yrs for new mobile home title hired Jacobson submitted all pertinent documentation $ 300 retainment as of 1/28/22 for getting docs filed for petition $175 told for court. Long story short endless front calls never returned check cashed 2/8/22 was told by secretary Jacobson had other clients & that she does not know when he'll get back to me as of 4/9/22. Thought my documents were filed in court to petition court order so sos could produce mobile home title. Heather was sent an email to Jacobson law to be informed I will be picking up my very important documents on my identity & home of 31 yrs. Heather said she typed up a petition for court I mentioned I would like that copy put in with my wht binder of personal documents but was told by Heather that if I discover any documents missing give her a call. So, from 1/6/22 & $300 retainment cashed as of 2/8/22 picked up documents 3/13/22 when I discovered the court had no filling for my 75 yr old widowed mother DH so, I was lead to believe Jacobson was handling this matter of new mobile home title for sos to receive to produce since I was told by sos I had an abandon trailer go to court can not provide duplicate title when it was filed 31 yrs ago. Big problem never new have an existing mortgage, pay property tax on a 401 residential real property. So, I feel I was taken advantage of for 3 in half months could not call Jacobson & deal with Heather any longer when I discovered nothing submitted to the court no petition. But I would need to talk to Jacobson real funny the man does not return calls. As of 4/13/22 took it upon myself to visit office and retrieve my whole life's personal info. Was told by Heather I should go over documents and if anything is missing to call. Real funny no petition provided, 3 months latter I don't know if they returned every thing? Notified gladwin registar of deeds in gladwin flag my warranty deed to my property gave a web site to file for protection? What a nightmare of complete scam 300 bucks for 2 phone calls less than 5 to ten minutes you got me oh, don't worrie Heather said Jacobson knows what he is doing? My God I'm more stressed out now I would of never dropped off documents if I thought he was not going to submit to the court for a court order for new mobile home title. Now, I have to run credit checks on personal identity fraud. I just don't understand how Jacobson & Heather could be so cruel.

This guy is the worst client advocate I've seen in 40 years of running a business. I hired him to collect two life insurance policies for my mothers estate. He immediately handed to cdocuments to a legal assistant and walked away. NEVER returned a single call or email and never collected the funds in nine months. The work is above the capability of his assistant and here we sit. DISHONORABLY unrepresented and no further ahead. After inquiring of other attorneys and judges I've learned that a lazy lawyer is no better than a delaying insurance company. Douglas Jacobson is a bad hire.BE WARNED.

This man has not done any of the court orders and my grandmother is now deceased and he will not give us her annual accounting for the last 3 years. We have called and his office workers are very nasty and told us "life happens when i get to it you'll get the accounting documents" we as a family have every right to her accounting documents as stated in the court orders.

This attorney is all about HIS bottom line. He makes it clear that he has no real interest in anything that benefits you, the client. He did not even show up to my hearing or the settlement conference. He used other attorneys that appear to be his pawns and these pawns lack any real knowledge of how to get effective results. He and his "legal team" seem to be very good at keeping the client ill informed. After provider fees and his "costs", there was a remaining balance due to me for under $25. You read that right: UNDER $25. The real kick in the rear is in a letter to me spelling out the "award", he had the nerve to state that I should "consult a financial advisor so I did not squander away the money". I would advise you to seek out other legal counsel, as this attorney has done me a huge irreversible injustice!

To be short and to the point, Mr. Timothy M. Hartner was Hired by myself and I after no other Lawyers would take my case. Mr. Hartner has done everything to make me out to be a liar, like the first attorney, stating he did't tell me to turn down the $1,750.00 settlement for my first party Lawsuit which I still Have the copy and proof of that. Then he came to my house and told me to sign and release State Farm from all Obligations and that he would make the Third Party Lawsuit pay for Damages and $20,000.00 In MRI & Medical Bills so I signed. Keep in mind he never called me, never kept me abreast on anything,no communication. I'm not going any further, He's also put in his letters of filings that I threatened him while requesting my file to take to another attorney, which he's making it very difficult for me to get and charging me a hundred dollar deposit +++ for additional copies. So before you hire an attorney Here in Michigan anywhere, do your research on that lawyer before you sign him to represent you!

I was attacked by a dog while hiking which was very traumatic and after calling around signed a contract with Heidi and it all went downhill from there. She never made contact with me and when I finally did get a response from her she said the people with the dog changed their phone numbers and since then I have not heard anything and she will not return any form of my messages so I cannot pursue it on my own or with another attorney and I am sitting in limbo feeling like I have done something horribly wrong to be ignored by my lawyer after getting attacked by a dog. I suffer from depression and she has made it a hundred times worse since the dog bite so at this point I no longer know what to do except Let It Go and hope that the dog that bit me does not do anything to anyone else.

He was assigned as a PD in my case in Oakland County circuit. They hadn't given me his name. He called me for the first time while I was in the car on the way to the court house, 20 minutes before the hearing. He left a voice-mail and then texted me telling me to call him, but yeah bro, I was kinda busy trying to figure out where I was supposed to be. He didn't show up in person (he was on Zoom) and still managed to be late, inconveniencing everyone involved. When I told the judge he doesn't know anything about my case and that I'd be happy to self-represent today, he asked to be released. He should be released from all future cases, in my opinion. Huge waste of my time.

What a Car Accident Lawyer Can Do for You

A car accident lawyer specializes in representing individuals who have been injured in motor vehicle accidents. These lawyers help victims secure compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, property damage, pain and suffering, and other losses resulting from a car crash. They also negotiate with insurance companies, investigate the cause of the accident, and, if necessary, represent clients in court to ensure they receive fair compensation.

If you've been injured in a car accident - whether as a driver, passenger, cyclist, or pedestrian - a car accident lawyer can help protect your rights, navigate the insurance claims process, and ensure you receive the compensation you're entitled to.

When Should I Hire a Car Accident Lawyer?

Consider hiring a car accident lawyer in several situations, especially when the accident results in injuries, property damage, or disputes with the insurance company. Key situations include:

  • Serious injuries: If you’ve suffered significant injuries, such as broken bones, spinal injuries, or traumatic brain injuries, a lawyer can help you seek compensation for medical expenses, future treatment, and pain and suffering.
  • Disputes with the insurance company: If your insurance claim has been denied or the insurance company offers an unreasonably low settlement, a lawyer can negotiate on your behalf to ensure you get fair compensation.
  • Liability disputes: If the other driver’s insurance company is disputing fault or claiming you were partially at fault, a lawyer can gather evidence to prove the other party’s negligence.
  • Wrongful death: If a loved one was killed in a car accident, a lawyer can help the family pursue a wrongful death claim to recover compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, and other damages.
  • Uninsured or underinsured driver: If the at-fault driver lacks sufficient insurance coverage, a lawyer can help you explore other compensation options, such as filing a claim with your own insurance company.
  • Complex cases: Accidents involving multiple vehicles, commercial trucks, or complicated circumstances require legal expertise to manage complexities and hold all responsible parties accountable.

Hiring a lawyer early in the process can help ensure that your rights are protected and that you receive the full compensation you deserve.

What Does a Car Accident Lawyer Do?

A car accident lawyer provides various legal services to help injured individuals pursue compensation for their injuries and losses. Their responsibilities often include:

  • Investigating the accident: Gathering evidence like police reports, witness statements, photos, and video footage to determine how the accident occurred and who was at fault.
  • Filing insurance claims: Assisting clients in filing claims with their insurance company and the at-fault driver’s insurer to ensure all necessary documentation is submitted correctly.
  • Negotiating settlements: Working with insurance adjusters to secure fair compensation for medical bills, property damage, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
  • Calculating damages: Determining the full extent of your damages, including current and future medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost income, and non-economic damages like pain and suffering.
  • Handling medical bills: Coordinating with healthcare providers to ensure your medical bills are paid and helping you avoid financial hardship during the claims process.
  • Filing lawsuits: If the insurance company refuses a fair settlement, the lawyer can file a lawsuit and represent you in court.
  • Representing you in court: Presenting your case before a judge and jury, providing evidence and witness testimony to prove negligence and your right to compensation.

How Are Car Accident Lawyers Paid?

Most car accident lawyers work on a contingency fee basis, meaning they only get paid if they win or settle your case. The key aspects include:

  • Contingency fee: The lawyer’s fee is typically between 25% and 40% of the total settlement or award. You won't pay upfront fees; the lawyer's payment comes from the compensation they recover for you.
  • No fee if no recovery: If the lawyer doesn’t secure compensation for you, you generally don't owe any legal fees.
  • Case expenses: You may be responsible for certain costs related to your case, such as filing fees or expert witness fees. These are usually deducted from the settlement after the lawyer's fee is paid.

Discuss the fee structure during your initial consultation to understand how much you'll owe if your case is successful.

How Much Does a Car Accident Lawyer Cost?

The cost of hiring a car accident lawyer is generally based on the contingency fee arrangement. General estimates include:

  • Contingency fee percentage: Lawyers typically charge between 25% and 40% of the total settlement or award. For example, if you receive a $100,000 settlement and the lawyer's fee is 33%, the lawyer would receive $33,000, and you'd keep the remaining $67,000.
  • Case expenses: Additional costs such as court filing fees, expert witness costs, and administrative fees can range from $1,000 to $10,000 or more, depending on the case complexity.

Ensure you get a clear explanation of fees and expenses during your consultation.

Top Questions to Ask a Car Accident Lawyer

Before hiring a car accident lawyer, consider asking the following questions:

  1. What experience do you have with car accident cases?
Confirm the lawyer has handled cases similar to yours, especially involving serious injuries or complex liability issues.
  2. How do you charge for your services?
Understand the contingency fee percentage and any additional costs you may incur.
  3. What is the likelihood of success in my case?
Seek an honest assessment of your case's strengths and potential challenges.
  4. How long will the process take?
Get an estimate of the timeline for settling or taking the case to trial.
  5. Will you handle my case personally?
Ensure you know who will be managing your case and their level of involvement.
  6. What kind of compensation can I expect?
Ask about the types of damages you may be entitled to, including medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

How to Check the Credibility of a Car Accident Lawyer

To ensure you're hiring a reputable lawyer, take the following steps:

  • Check their bar status: Verify with your state bar association that the lawyer is licensed and in good standing.
  • Review their experience: Look for specialization in personal injury and car accident cases.
  • Read client reviews: Consult platforms like Avvo or Martindale-Hubbell for testimonials and ratings.
  • Ask for references: Request contact information of previous clients willing to discuss their experience.
  • Check professional affiliations: Membership in organizations like the American Association for Justice (AAJ) indicates a commitment to the field.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To maximize the effectiveness of your initial meeting, bring the following:

  • Police report: A copy of the accident report filed by the police.
  • Medical records: Documentation of your injuries, treatments, and medical expenses.
  • Photos and videos: Any visual evidence from the accident scene and of your injuries.
  • Insurance information: Copies of your insurance policy and any correspondence with insurance companies.
  • Witness information: Contact details and statements from any witnesses.
  • List of questions: Prepared questions about your case and the legal process.

Being well-prepared helps the lawyer assess your case accurately and advise you on the best course of action.
