I've known Paul for many years and chose to have him personally represent me in my post-petition divorce matters. I know many divorce attorneys and did not choose to go back to my initial attorney, so this should resonate. Paul is extremely intelligent and is able to handle complex financial situations. He is very knowledgeable on all pertinent case law involved with divorce matters and the local civil procedure and other filing rules. He reminds me of a tax accountant who can rattle off random IRS code sections. His rates are also competitive and he can go up against any large downtown law firm and obtain great results. This I know from personal experience, as my ex-husband was represented by one of the most well-respected and often nasty law firms in downtown Chicago. He is also very sensitive to an individual's personal situation and a compassionate advocate. And most of all, he's a Mensch! I love Paul, he's the best divorce lawyer and a great friend!

I hired Paul two years ago having used him for multiple petitions since there and have only had very positive experiences. When looking for a family law lawyer he contacted me within a day from when I sent in a request. He called me right away even though it was a Sunday to discuss the situation and gave me advice even prior to our initial consultation.
Paul is incredibly skilled and versed in Illinois family law with a very strong background and experience in practicing in Lake county and Cook county. Due to this Paul is able to give very strategic advice and was able to best possible outcome from my legal situation.
While he can be aggressive he is not a "bulldog" lawyer as he understands that law is an art and especially family law it is not always black and white so he does his best to lay out the situation, the options and the potential outcomes. He leaves it up to you to decide the best option to take but makes sure you are making an informed decision. Once you have decided how to best handle the situation he will aggressively execute on that decision but will also constantly reassess to make sure you will get the best outcome.
Paul is an amazing legal resource and adviser but he will expect you to stay in the driver seat for any legal situation. You will need to do the leg work to provide Paul all the evidence and information but he will then break the information down and advise on the best course of action.
As most legal situations are high stress Paul keeps himself incredibly open to communication and has responded to any urgent situations incredibly fast. When you hire him you have his attention and I've felt him truly care about my case and situation. I can not recall a item that it's taken more than 24 hours to get a response of call from him even on weekends and holidays.
I would highly recommend Paul and I have personally given his card to several people when they need help in family law.

I had consulted with several divorce attorneys, and I finally was referred by a friend to John Fay. John Fay explained everything in a way that I understood and in a way that put me at ease. His extreme wealth of knowledge was very valuable and he was a trusted advisor throughout the process. There were some twists and turns throughout the journey, and John Fay navigated through the changes in a calm matter while always pushing things forward. My case seemed like it should be very simple, but it turned out to be unique and at times complicated. John always responded in a timely fashion. I hired Leah to represent me in my divorce in 2018. My divorce was an extraordinarily difficult and complex process with many personal and financial angles to measure, manage and negotiate. The set of circumstances involved children, property and a very large estate with multiple trusts and investments to consider and maneuver through and around.
Once Leah was presented with all of the details of this highly complex situation, she was able to synthesize the information and, ultimately, present to me a set of potential options with their likely outcomes. Divorce case with abuse and child endangerment concerns. I hired one attorney just before Covid, she quit. I had to them hire another, and chose one based on general local recommendations - but she allowed my abusive ex’s attorney to drag the case in for 2 years, and HUGE bills. She would forget conversations, and forget to file things. I couldn’t officially switch attorneys again mid-case, so I paid for a very affordable consult with Ruth twice. I got more information and help from her in those brief consults than I did in 2 years with my regular attorney.
Knowing what I know now- I will only ever recommend Ruth!

Jim worked through my difficult divorce which took a few years to complete because my ex moved out of state and was hiding assets, missing appointments, etc. Even with every hurdle my ex and opposing attorney's threw at him, he remained professional and kept me informed all along the way. I came out of the situation ahead, with dignity, the majority of the property, and primary custodial custody of the children.
When the new girl figures my ex out, I can make a recommendation.

My ex wife hit me with a ridiculous and totally unfounded demand for "past due" support. Her lawyer threatened me and filed endless demands with the courts for 2yrs (during wich time my parents were both ill and passed during.all this) my ex knew that my mother had all my paper work , and with her gone i was all but defenseless. I was in a very dark place emotionally and financially with no way out. Thank God a friend referred me to Olga , she literally showed me a light when i thought there were none. She was honest , supportive and kind. Above and beyond any lawyer i had ever met , or could imagine existed. She saved my life and ended my case fast and without unnecessary billed hours. Reem Odeh helped my parent get a green card after a long visa overstay. When we were about half way through the process, we encountered a really difficult pothole and had to consider the fact that my parent would not be eligible for her card. Reem personally intervened, performed some miracle work with a letter she wrote to the USCIS, and we received the green card yesterday. The process took about 9-10 months.
We are absolutely grateful for all the work that Reem and her office put in for us. I strongly recommend her for anyone requiring help in immigration, because if anyone could help you, it will 1000% be her. She is so empathetic and cares about individuals, not the numbers.

Hannah was phenomenal to work with. I started by trying to navigate the divorce process on my own but became overwhelmed. I found Hannah in a neighborhood Facebook group and decided to book a consultation. Having done one consultation already with another well known Chicago firm, I was super hesitant. Unlike other firms, she did not make me fill out a 10 page questionnaire prior to getting on a call and was actually honest and gave advice during our one hour call. She didn’t push me to get off the phone within a time limit. She was present and made sure I was comfortable and my questions were answered. Throughout the divorce process I could not have asked for a better attorney to partner with. While my divorce was relatively “easy” she was on top of it! Every email was answered in way less than 24 hours (usually within 1) and her follow up was impeccable. She always had a plan and always told me what to expect next. I cannot recommend Hannah enough.

This attorney was knowledgeable and, most importantly, transparent. He didn’t frivolously charge me for every single, tiny interaction (although he isn’t cheap either)... but my ex-husband’s attorney didn’t! You get what you pay for. He was also honest with me about his knowledge in regards to opposing counsel for my divorce. He allowed me to be involved in editing documents as I felt comfortable, carefully reviewing them after the fact to ensure that they were realistic and enforceable. He was quick on his feet in helping me get out of a very tough spot, especially upon initial consultation. In fact, he had an emergency document drawn up for me within an hour! I walked away from my divorce with my sanity and proper child-support/parenting time of my child without having to go to court (all settled between the two attorneys). He comes across as fair, realistic, and level-headed.

She was able to understand the emotional complexities of divorce, but also didn't mince words about what would or wouldn't hold water in court. It was honestly a fantastic balance of accurate legal consultation and emotional support, which as I understand it with many attorneys is a rare combination.
She also didn't stand for any of the nonsense my ex tried to pull, and was the first to speak up when something was trending in an unreasonable direction.
I had a less-than-useless attorney prior, and got metaphorically disemboweled by the enormous bills, especially since no progress was made. I hired Jordan, and because her billing is always fair and justified, I was able to financially weather the storm as well. I NEVER got a bill that didn't make sense.
You truly couldn't ask for a more capable or helpful attorney to see you through the often ugly divorce process.

Ms. Pratt immediately upon receiving my case acquired all the standard time I was to be alloted with children that previous representation never acknowledged. Ms. Pratt only contacted me necessarily. I didn't realize this at first, however it let me know she's not just trying to run up a bill. She is well informed of the law and was strategically aware on how to pursue my desired outcome. I highly recommend Susan as an attorney. She represented me in my divorce and I was pleased with the agreement we reached with my ex. She was prompt with returning phone calls and emails. I picked Susan because she represented my friend's ex-wife and he said she was much better than the lawyer he had. She was very thorough, friendly, but was tough as well. I think in a divorce no one is going to get all of what they want, but the most important thing to me was joint custody of my kids and some holidays, none of which their mother wanted me to have. Mr Dunn is a GREAT attorney. He is patient and very straight forward. I went in and had an unachievable goal for my custody case and he stopped me and told me exactly what I should be asking for and explained WHY. He didn't treat me like I was dumb or ridiculous, just that my idea was not rational. He got me exactly what he told me he would. The minute you meet him you respect him. His paralegal Dina is also extremely helpful. She doesn't have the same way with words as Mr Dunn but she does her job and does it right. (Sorry Dina if you read this) There are several other people who answer the phone and greet you at the office who are also pleasant and sweet. I know my case was by far not their biggest financially, but they treated me like it was. I hope I never have to see Mr Dunn again, but if I do I hope he is still available.

I finally got to entering my review of my experience with Mr. Dunn. Divorce is never fun, so I have taken time to separate myself from the experience before writing my thoughts. In summary, if you are going to hire a lawyer, then you won't go wrong by hiring Mr. Dunn and, i will guess, you wont find a better one.
My first experience with Mr. Dunn was when he represented my now wife in her divorce. She faced alot of intimidation and bullying as she started her divorce from her ex and his cult-like family. Jeff helped to steady her and, through his knowledge and expertise and personality, helped her to gain confidence and strength in this process. It was enjoyable to observe him work against the other party and she reports that his courtroom demeanor is steady and confident.
My second experience was in my postdecree case against my ex-wife for cohabitation. His approach of confidence and knowledge helped me to have my maintenance payments stopped. She and her party wanted to settle instead of court, so I missed out on watching him in action.
Im not sure that the above words do justice to his abilities.
Its not likely you will find a more knowledgable attorney.
If he doesnt know it, he will tell you and seeek the answer.
He is a straight shooter; if you dont want that approach then you should seek another attorney, or better yet, change your own approach
His personality is friendly and welcoming - we all want that.
He is confident - also a must - and dont confuse it with cockiness, thats not him
I have since sent a best friend to Jeff and he, who is better prepared and knowledgable than myself, is very satisfied at this time with the service Jeff is providing him in his postdecree issues.
Bottom line, both myself and my wife will continue to have Mr. Dunn represent us as we, for certain, deal with postdecree issues and our ex-spouses.
