Karen took me on last minute. I couldn't have asked for a better divorce attorney. After our first FOC meet she was able to get me two nights shy of 50% of my daughter, then 2. A month later she was able to get me 50%. It was a very tough process for me but she made it rather easy. I didn't want much from the divorce, but what I did want she was able to get for me. There was a lot that I needed to hear through this whether it was good or bad and she kept it straight and honest.

Extremely unprofessional! They will argue with you more than they argue to save you in court. Full of excuses and not willing to fulfill their end of the deal. You are better off going with a court appointed because with these guys you will end up with a court appointed in the end any way!.. Good luck to anyone that has chosen such poor representation!!! 😕

Judge Deborah Ford is an amazing person who really cares about her job and clients. She went above and beyond to help me with my case. She’s very nice, thoughtful, and one of the most beautiful people that you could ever meet from the outside and inside. She’s very understanding and she truly cares about winning the case and defending you. She has been working in the court room most of her life, and her mom was a former judge as well so she grew up discussing laws on daily basis. Hands down she’s the best attorney anyone could ever ask like she really knows what she’s doing and she is a very trustworthy person. I would not recommend Samantha Heath. I chose Samantha based on her AVVO rating, all of her honors and awards, and years of experience. However, I was extremely disappointed in the representation that I received from her and her team.
I was informed that a divorce without minor children should take 3-5 months and it should be in the $5000-$10,000 range if it doesn't go to trial. Five months after hiring Samantha, not only was I still not divorced, but she had not drafted any settlement proposals or even begun division of assets. When I questioned the timing, she insisted that the divorce was on track and that the timing was very typical.
Samantha had billed me over $8500 while my husband had been billed just under $3000 from his attorney for just about the same number of hours worked on the case. The majority of my husband's work was handled by his lawyer's assistant or paralegal while almost all of the work for my case (with the exception of ½ an hour) was billed at Samantha's rate of $395 including all of the administrative work and her responses to my emails questioning why the divorce is taking so long. I also never received any bill until after the retainer fee was used up and she was billing for more money. She claimed that I was not set up to receive them. I had asked Samantha to revisit her billing rate, but she told me that the fees that I had been billed are appropriate and reflect the complexity of my case and the expertise provided and that her hourly rate is commensurate with her over 30 years of experience in family law.
Communication was also very poor with Samantha and things were very sloppy. She did not explain things very well and in some cases gave conflicting advice which required additional emails for clarification. Forms were received with misspelled information, as well as misinformation. I could go on with other issues, but these are the most significant.

This was my first time ever having to retain a lawyer and I strongly recommend the Nichols law firm. Jackee was very patient with me and always answered my calls and made sure I understood what was going on the entire time. He would constantly go above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable with everything that was going on. I worked with jackee for about 6 months on two separate cases, one was for a domestic charge I was accused of and jackee was able to prove my innocence and get the charge dropped. following that I had a child custody case in a different county and jackee was able to repersent me and help me maintain custody of my daughter and ensuring I get equal rights to my daughter in the eyes of the state.

Emily Rysberg served as my divorce lawyer several years ago. I am 42 years old and am disabled due to a severe form of multiple sclerosis. I was left without health Insurance and put in a very difficult situation, one where I did not see a very good ending. Emily advocated on my behalf and gave me an ending I did not think was possible. We were trying to apply for a spouse visa. After trying to do it ourselves and got scammed by an immigration attorney, it was a blessing that we met Marc and it was the best decision we ever made to take him as our attorney
Process took about 1 year, yes it might seem long but the hold up was from our side. We were caught up with our daily life and didn't able to comply Marc's request according to his timeline, however, Marc is always patience with us
Once I got my interview schedule in my home country, Marc was willing to have video conference and did a trial interview with me

Marc is an attorney with questionable ethics, integrity, and honesty, took on an immigration case for my sister-in-law, who was dealing with the U.S. Embassy in Kinshasa. He claimed to have handled similar cases and requested $3,500 from a vulnerable African woman. However, once paid, he began avoiding her and neglected the case entirely.
Despite the urgency of the situation, Marc wasted months without doing any meaningful work. By August, he had made no progress and consistently avoided meeting with us, claiming he was sick. In total, he only spent 2.5 hours with her, and even though we sent him over 45 emails, he never responded.
Marc has refused to refund the money and caused my sister-in-law’s case to miss critical deadlines. As a WMU alumnus and former resident of Kalamazoo, Marc is taking advantage of immigrant families. Please do not trust his services—he's only interested in taking your money. We ended up working on the case ourselves and left him with the money, but we know God is seeing him. DO NOT PAY HIM FULLY BEFORE THE END OF THE CASE.

Daniel Finley is not just any lawyer he is the best at what he does. I know many people read reviews and think it's just a random person writing a review who doesn't know what you are going through, but I do. Custody can be heartbreaking, and stressful and seems to be never-ending. When it involves your kids, it affects your whole heart and mind. I was scared of selecting a lawyer because in the past I didn't have a great one. From the first phone call, I knew Dan would fight for me; he was kind, smart, and encouraging. When I worried he was steadfast and strong and encouraged me to stay on the path. As a Mom, our kids are life and we just want the best for them. Dan understands this and will treat your case as his own. He treated my case as his own and we had an amazing outcome.
As I type this review it could be 100 pages long, there are not enough words to show my appreciation for Dans hard work. If you need the best lawyer out there for your custody case I encourage you from one mom to another mom, he's the best.

Donna was my second attorney in my years-long divorce and custody battle(s). To this day, I am so incredibly grateful to the friend who recommended Donna to me. Donna is straight-forward in the advice she gives. She'll tell you exactly how it is, and I appreciate that. She is also tireless in her advocacy for you and won't suffer fools lightly. Donna would let my ex spout whatever he had to say, and then calmly cut through the nonsense with a straightforward recitation of the facts and law. She has a calming effect on her clients and isn't afraid to use some dry humor to lighten things up when necessary. The only negative in my mind is that so many of my friends/referrals need a great attorney in Ottawa County, and Donna doesn't practice there.
If you need a highly effective, straight-shooting, fierce advocate on your side in a divorce, custody, parenting time, or other family law situation, I cannot recommend Donna highly enough.

He doesn't return calls in a timely matter, client representation is extremely weak, only a couple good suggestions, doesnt seem to have the fight in him, open ended results, makes money with little results, makes mistakes that a professional shouldn't make, and presents little fight to a case.

I was dealing with a very difficult situation, and it was only for a referee hearing our divorce was already final. Lana was very supportive, caring, forthright, and so knowledgeable about all the laws. She helped me stand tall with a difficult ex and took my financial situation into account. She knew that the money I was using was a gift from a friend who had passed away and was very good about ensuring I received what was left when we closed the case. She was able to help me realize he couldn't bully me any longer.. I wish I would have used her for my divorce!! Lana is not only very professional, she is a compassionate person. After I was refereed to a lawyer, I decided I wanted to keep looking because I had that feeling that the lawyer seen me as just another case. Then I found Lana. I hired Jackie for my divorce and child custody case, and I am so glad that I did. She is the best of the best. From our very first meeting, Jackie was extremely approachable, understanding, compassionate, and so reassuring. She always kept me up to date with the process. Over the last 8 years, I have faced repeating challenges with child support issues. I was in a rough spot once my divorce started. I honestly didn't know where to turn to. I found Tara Parker online and requested a meeting. I briefed her on how everything started out for me. My Ex-Wife ran off with my children, without me knowing, accused me of things that I would never do, and wouldn't let me know where my children were, and if they were ok. My daughter is autistic and was taken out of Therapy for a lengthy time, my son was taken out of school and wasn't enrolled into school until 4 weeks later. Tara Parker and Amy Koshy helped me out so much. I was on the losing end, paying an exuberant amount of child and spousal support, the courts willingly gave her the kids, and it seemed like I was a total loss. Tara Parker and Amy Koshy assured me to hold my head up high, be strong, and the courts will decide the right thing in the end. A lot of new information was brought into light, I was able to start seeing my kids, and In the end, due to the grueling 1 year battle of this divorce, I got my children back, permanently. The case was flipped and I definitely cried at the news when I was told by Amy. God Bless these two, and for all they have done. They definitely give Fathers a fighting chance to see and have their children again! Thank You.
