Allison took a very difficult case petitioning to review and a hearing for a closed divorce case. This due to shenanigans from petitioner's attorney on initial court hearing, court procedure not followed, no effort mediation on petitioner's part, and attorney's fees - all around petitioner being awarded my primary home. The case was reopened for review, at the end: I was awarded 100% equity and rights to my home and my attorney fees.

I hired Amanda to represent me in my divorce based on the reviews here, but I unfortunately did not have the same experience as others. I often felt as if my case was on the back burner possibly bc no children were involved. I often had little to no understanding of what was going on bc it was not being explained to me unless I reached out, which cost me so much more in fees. On the positive side I will say Amanda is very intelligent and was always responsive when I did reach out with any concerns. But unfortunately certain issues continued up until the very end. For example- my married name was still being used on documents, letters, and emails even though I went through all of the steps to change it and directly asked for them to use my now legal name more than once. Might seem silly to some but to me it was a disrespect to me getting my cultural identity back.

I have little to no actual understanding of the legal system... which I think is, unfortunately, pretty standard for most folks. I know even less than that about family law. I had no idea what the future held regarding my beautiful little girl and was very, very scared.
I will always be thankful for the service, knowledge, professionalism and utter kindness that Amanda and her staff supplied. I have guaranteed time with my daughter only because of her and her and the professionals she has surrounded herself with. The time can't be taken away at a whim. Can't be altered because the weather changed.
Amanda helped me understand my options, never pressured me, and always respected what I wanted. She always ensured that I was as comfortable as I could be with the legal proceedings. I honestly can't think of anything she could have improved upon.
I can honestly say that my life and the life of my kiddo are categorically, significantly better for having worked with Amanda. I can not recommend her services enough.

Ms. Oney is a consummate professional and excellent attorney and advocate. I have had a lot of experience with family law attorneys and can say without hesitation, that Julie is the best I have ever dealt with. She is thorough. She knows the law. She can give case law. Further, she genuinely seems to care, without being overly emotional – which is how it should be. I was, and continue to be, very pleased with the outcome of my case. There was never an incident wherein I wasn’t impressed with her responses, strategy, or knowledge. She handled a Stipulation and Order for me – which came after an unfortunate Judgment and Decree. My only regret is not finding her earlier to handle my initial Custody proceedings.

I worked with Meredith with a case, and have had a painless, smooth experience. She was always very responsive with same-day replies to my emails, she quickly processed a large number of case-related documentation I sent over, and she really gave me the impression that someone is looking out for my interests, and not just doing the minimum of what I exactly asked. She suggested multiple "have you considered x/y" scenarios.
For revisions on paperwork she sent it with all the changed parts highlighted compared to the previous draft, which was very helpful as the paperwork started getting larger.
During the case 90%+ of the time we had to wait for the other side's attorney, since Meredith was able to get all action items taken care of on our side very quickly.
I would highly recommend her, and if in the future I would need to work with a family attorney again she would definitely be my first choice!

We had retained and fired two attorneys before we found Bob. We hired Bob to represent my friend, a domestic abuse survivor, in the custody dispute against her abusive ex . By the time we hired Bob, we were “behind the 8 ball,“ as Bob put it. The court had just issued a temporary order allowing joint legal and physical custody, granting the abusive party control over his victim. It took numerous proceedings, documentation, witnesses, and eventually a trial to reveal the truth to the Court and attain justice. We are grateful to Bob for his willingness to take on our very complicated, difficult case, and his superb legal and strategic skills. It’s difficult to discuss domestic abuse at all, let alone to numerous professionals (judges, evaluators, etc.) in the court system. Bob was able to guide my friend through a harrowing journey with a steady hand, clear vision, and a compassionate heart.

I worked with Robert as my attorney for the last 2 years for my custody case. As a unmarried father in Minnesota, the odds are definitely against you. Robert was there for me through and through, and he wouldn't quit fighting for me to have equal parenting time with my son. We just recieved the good news, after going to trial, that we won! Robert Manson was referred to me by a very good friend of mine. She was extremely satisfied with his work with her brother’s divorce proceedings. Based on that referral, I had the utmost pleasure in meeting with Robert Manson to discuss my divorce issues. Immediately it was evident that he was focused on what was fair and reasonable for me and my son in the divorce. He was able to provide a safe space for me to discuss my issues, what my goals were and allow me to ask for the things that were needed in making sure I was able to get through the divorce proceedings fairly with his ongoing support. His knowledge and experience of Family Law is invaluable. My sister, who is an attorney in another state, researched divorce lawyers in MN to help me move forward with this painful process -- Margaux and Lisa were her top choice for a lot of reasons, and I've been so grateful to have them in my corner! They work great as a team, and I always felt like a priority even though my case was surely not the biggest or most complicated. I didn't have a good experience working with Thiemann. I was referred to him by another attorney at this firm. He was my representation for a shirt while. Thiemann had me in tears & I felt like he was the opposing attorney against me when he was supposed to be helping me. He made me feel like I was stupid almost every time I talked to him.
They had another attorney I had worked with do the rest of Thiemanns job.
To be honest, after all this time, I know that attorney wasn't fully prepared to take the case on & it was just handed to him, sad.

Scott was my attorney for a divorce that got very messy. Among other things, my ex-wife attempted to relocate my daughter to another city, had me served with a frivolous restraining order, and tried to have our parenting consultant removed after our divorce.
Throughout all of this, Scott provided excellent representation and guidance. Early in the case, he laid out a roadmap for how I would be able to maintain involvement in my daughter’s life and protect her interests. He showed me how I would be at serious risk of losing parenting time with my daughter if I did not make the right choices. As the divorce progressed, things went as Scott predicted, and I now have a custody and parenting time arrangement that is great for both my daughter and me.
Scott was never rattled by anything he encountered with my case. He has deep knowledge of Minnesota family law, and he had a strategic approach to every situation we faced. He gave me wise advice and encouraged me to take the high road. He was highly professional and ethical, and he helped me minimize my legal costs. I can tell that he cares about helping his clients, not just getting the job done.
Another thing I appreciated was that Scott tries to avoid litigation whenever possible. He prefers to settle things through mediation or direction negotiation, and he avoids pointless conflict. However, when my ex-wife took aggressive actions against me, Scott gave strong responses and forced her to back down. He tries to keep things amicable, but he is not afraid to take a strong stance when necessary.
We had only a single court hearing, when my ex-wife attempted to have our parenting consultant removed after the divorce. Scott gave compelling oral arguments and helped the judge see our perspective, even though she initially was inclined to grant my ex-wife’s request. She ruled in our favor after the hearing, and there is no doubt that Scott’s courtroom arguments were key to that outcome.
I feel very fortunate to have worked with Scott in my divorce. I could not have asked for a better outcome, and Scott’s representation and advice are what made it possible. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a family law attorney.

I had a very difficult family law issue regarding my ex-spouse's ongoing parenting plan violations and documented parental alienation efforts on my daughter. I had spent years working w/ past attorneys and family therapists to help ameliorate some of the more destructive effects of my kids' mother's behavior. The clock was running out quickly for any type of legally enforceable remedies - family therapy or otherwise.
Scott promptly assessed my case via his legal assistant and decided that I had run out of legal remedies. I still needed more info so I scheduled a paid consultation. When we finally met, Scott immediately cut to the chase and in just a few minutes gave me a complete and definitive legal prognosis about winning any additional legal action or even getting my daughter into any type of reunification therapy. Zippo chance. I had previously spent thousands working w/ another attorney just trying to get this answered.
Scott correctly perceived that our family issues were far more than legal. He spent the remaining 45-50 minutes of our 1 hour consult giving me some of the best family therapy advice I ever had. He had seen a lot of parental alienation cases and understood the long-term affect on adolescents and parents. He was empathetic. He understood the big picture. I would go so far as to say that single session was transformative. I so wish I had found him at the beginning of my divorce. With Scott, I knew I would have definitely gotten what I paid for.
For all who read this, please be aware that for many going through a divorce, you get one chance to do it right. After that, you can nibble at the edges w/ some modifications but if you don't have a competent attorney fighting for you from the start, you could get utterly steamrollered. I spent more on legal fees trying to enforce a court order drawn up by my original "econo-lawyer" then I did for the original divorce.
Scott knew what I needed and not only did he not try to sell me more futile legal services, he even waived the consult fee. His generosity of time, counsel and spirit made him stand out head and shoulders w/ any other family attorney I worked with over the past 7 years.
