Ashley seemingly has a good working knowledge of the law - as best as I can tell not being a lawyer. But in retrospect her use of it in my divorce is now something I question. It caused a lot more turmoil than necessary. Her advice lacked judgment and wisdom that probably only comes with time and experience.

I started an appeal with Attorney Jurney for custody. She didn't do anything on my case for over a year. Afterward, I decided to drop the appeal since the other party filed a motion and moved my case to another county, which was approved by the judge. Attorney Alicia has promised a refund, and almost 2 years later, nothing. They do not answer their calls or return emails when supposed to. I have had mercy and have waited months before writing this review, in fact I wrote a review about 4 months ago, and they reached out to me and told me they were going to get my refund just so I can take the review down, but never heard anything back after multiple emails.

Ms. Jurney is representing me in a child custody and support case. Throughout the prep work to the temporary hearing, I was thoroughly impressed by the amount of information we were able to exchange at each meeting, how quickly Ms. Jurney comprehended complicated expenses and child support calculations, and how well Ms. Jurney prepared herself was for the hearing. Going into the hearing, I already knew that not only was Ms. Jurney a highly effective lawyer, she had also well familiarized herself with the details of my situation and the disturbed mental state of the defendant to be able to handle the examinations well. This was a custody case. She filed the wrong draft in Court. She petitioned for a GAL which the Judge thought was not necessary. Her response time to my emails became longer and longer. She started emailing me things we already decided against. She stopped sending me monthly invoices early on in the case. A month before trial she emails me saying she has already spent the $5000 I paid her and she wants more money even though I was the one running around getting things for the case. Refusing to have a phone conversation with me, she withdrew weeks before trial.

Basically Misfits was hired by me she appeared it to court dates nothing was accomplished basically I was ordered to come to court both times when trying to follow up with Misfits and touch base with her to get information or give information in reference to my case I was contacted days later if at all basically I was referred to her and I'm very disappointed in the outcome basically just started all over again having to hire another attorney at this point in having to do what I done want to go to her to do I'm so no I would not recommend her just based on my personal experience and her lack of communication and lack of empathy towards my case as a client as a paying client I felt that it should have been more attention paid to my case to where I do not have to follow up now again and have to waste some more money on another attorney to do what I paid for Misfits to do in the first place so I'm very unhappy very disappointed with the communication not to mention then at the end of it all I was told that it was a conflict of interest as to the courthouse where I need to be in where she needs to be so let that be a lesson learned yes I lost $1,500 but I'm getting cancer from another attorney at this point so do your research read your reviews make sure that you want to attorney who makes you feel like your case is important as the next person's

If you hire to have her to represent you to do a separation agreement, please read it very closely. Or have them review it closely with you are clear what the terms are, it reflects your desires, and there are no careless errors. I made the mistake of not doing either. It was a very emotional and difficult time and I trusted the agreement had the terms we had discussed prior to her office drafting it. The SA included terms that were not only undesirable, but definitely not in my best interests or the best interests of my children.. I am not giving her one star because I will say her office staff was responsive when I had to email/contact the office. But there was no excuse for the errors in the Agreement - esp when my ex spouse wasn’t asking for them or pushing for these terms that she included. And their office was only representing me. This was not a mediated agreement.

Single father paid 9k cash for joint custody of my children. It took well over 6 months to file ANY PAPERWORK. Rik whom I paid has Never worked on my case. He has his interns doing everything. He has zero knowledge of my case when I call. Yet no wants another 6k. Yes 6k to finish. That's 15 THOUSAND dollars and I have yet been to court. AMAZING. I feel as a Black Male in not respected and being taken advantage of. I would not recommend them to my worst enemy and advise ANY AFRICAN AMERICAN to say clear of this guys. I pulled this money out of my 401k was told it would cost maybe 7k... and again took them 6 months to file any paperwork. Pray for my children

Hard to believe Rik does not have prior reviews. Rik, hands down, was the best lawyer I had during my 2 year hellish divorce. He far surpassed my three prior lawyers in just sear will and effort. By the time I met Rik I was so jaded and fatigued by the process: no results yet high fees. Rik was different. Receiving emails and texts at night or during the weekend was the norm. I appreciated his hard work and burning the midnight oil for my cause. In contrast one of my prior lawyers would never return emails and I could only contact her by scheduling a phone appointment with her during her regular business hours. What a difference. Rik may not have the fancy downtown Raleigh office address or marble floors but he has what's most important: Compassion, empathy and personal drive. I highly recommend you at least consult with him prior to hiring any other lawyer.

I strongly advise against engaging with this particular law firm. I encountered several significant issues during my interaction with them, including:
1) Lack of Personal Attention: Regrettably, Mr. John McNeil demonstrated a concerning lack of attentiveness to my case. It became apparent that my emails went largely unread and unanswered. Furthermore, the conduct of his staff left much to be desired, marked by rudeness and a notable lack of responsibility.
2) Exorbitant Billing: Another disconcerting aspect of my experience was the firm's tendency to overcharge for their legal services. This left me feeling unfairly burdened financially.
3) Questionable Professionalism and Ethics: I found the overall professionalism and ethical standards of this law firm to be sorely lacking. It is my belief that they prioritize their own financial interests over the well-being of their clients.
In light of these issues, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this firm to anyone. It appears that their primary focus is on monetary gain rather than advocating for their clients' best interests. I would definitely not recommend using John McNeil as your attorney. My overall experience was not pleasing. There was a lack of communication and on many occasions he did not return phone calls and emails in a timely manner. He showed little concern, no aggression and not much sympathy for my situation. Mr. McNeil gave me the impression - if your case is not worth the money he will not dedicate the time.
