I hired Held Law Firm to help me attain a passport for my minor child that was unfortunately not covered in my original divorce agreement. Margaret and her team were wonderful. There were some issues at the hearing, (no fault of Held Law Firm), but Margaret went above and beyond for me. There are not many attorneys in this town or elsewhere that want to “make it right” for their clients. If I ever need an attorney in the future, I will definitely hire the ladies at Held Law. Held Law Firm was amazing in representing me in my divorce. Melanie handled my case and was very thorough in the details. I was very anxious and scared about the process, but she was very kind and helpful. She was always available to answer my questions no matter how small they were. She negotiated very well on my behalf of the custody plan with my child and on my behalf of the divorce settlement. While helping Ken with an insurance matter. I asked if I could pick his brain about a current custody case in which I was involved. He listened and gave me excellent advice. Although he could not represent me because I was in a different state, he took time to listen to my story and then go into detail about what I could expect and what to plan for, how the laws work, and how and what questions to ask when hiring an attorney, What impressed me more is when I would follow up with him about insurance he would also ask me how my case was going and again give me time and advice. I have dealt with attornies in the past, and I can tell you by how he treated me, someone who could not hire him. I know that he is willing to go the extra mile when hired. He is a rare find, a strong advocate, and a tremendous resource. I highly recommend working with Ken!!

Ken and Tabitha were top notch professionals. A small but incredibly capable law firm. I have dealt with many attorneys and law firms in several different states. Ken was genuine and thorough. He didn’t just make promises and take my case on and drag it out to collect money. He was realistic and gave me a honest legal opinion which saved me lots of time and money. I met Sheree during one of the most difficult times in my life. She was exactly what I needed and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Her communication was top-notch-- she and her paralegal Kim are highly responsive and absolutely make you feel heard and like they are part of your team. Sheree exudes professionalism-- throughout our interactions, it was evident that she is well-respected by both her peers and the judges we encountered, a testament to her competence and professionalism, spanning civil court, juvenile court, and circuit court.

My niece informed me of what happened in the office firm September 27,2024 and I was absolutely shocked and devastated that such behavior would come from a licensed attorney.
My niece is 27 years old, educated , articulate and understands ,comprehensively. She was trying to help on the behalf of my brother . Kortney Simmons did not lead by example per what was explained to me.
Definitely not a good representation of Casey & Simmons Law Firm . Threatening in tone , condescending to someone younger , cruel to someone with a disability and their ability to process information .

Very nice firm, however would not recommend Kourtney Simmons as a point of contact for an attorney. I experienced her as very quick tempered. Talks more than she listens and gets flustered easily during problem- solving - resolution tasks. I also don’t appreciate her openly discussing the matter in the lobby area of the firm instead of in her office when she got frustrated . Her voice began to rise first , and her facial expressions were flustered . Meaning, everyone in the office heard her and heard us . Not client confidential at all .
I believe if she could be more empathic in nature , and patient she could assist clients better with the needs of all parties involved , which could strengthen her reputation for the brand of this office .
Maybe it was due to her busy schedule so she wanted quick - cut - paid - deal when I finally got to see her, bringing my dad .
There was a misunderstanding - and instead of using critical thinking skills to full assess the root needs and even misunderstandings , she immediately jumped into defense , but not in the best way .
I have an elderly father with 2 strokes, I already communicated that to her , a little slow in understanding , and she tried to spin my questions of clarity into coercion .
Other than that, I believe the staff are quite friendly and are awesome at following up and scheduling .
I hope in the future Kourtney can treat all of her clients with disabilities and non disabilities , black or white , young or old the same care as it’s given in previous reviews .

I filed my Chapter 7 through Flexer. They have been absolutely amazing! They are super responsive to any questions I have via email & phone. They walked me through & explained everything to me. If I were able to give Mike a 10/10 I would. He took on my case last minute, rearranging his own schedule to help me. He listened to me thoroughly and he took over from that point forward. This attorney knows the law. He is witty and firm and most importantly he supports and fights for his clients aggressively. He communicates effectively with his clients keeping them in the loop. He isnt hard to contact if you have questions or concerns which is a rarity. I would highly recommend Mike Hickman as an attorney that you can trust to take care of you! Look no where else!

Ms Lashbrook was highly recommended to our family by a trusted friend when my daughter passed away - a single mom leaving behind a minor child with no will in place to determine who would have custody. It was a very scary situation. Ms Lashbrook helped us secure custody with my other daughter & work with DCS to get all the legalities taken care of. She was extremely caring, sympathetic and went out of her way to assure us we did not have to concern ourselves with this added legal burden as we were grieving over such an unexpected loss & all the other issues that came with it. She was very knowledgeable of the law and made the entire process go smoothly. Both she & her assistant, Julie were extremely caring, thoughtful & concerned for our family. We were blessed beyond words by their caring & personal approach in this situation.
I consulted Ms Lashbrook again recently regarding another matter & found my interaction with her & her staff just as caring & helpful. They actually listen to your concerns & take that extra time to do that without a focus of adding up additional fees for each minute spent. They also welcome your questions and are patient in giving answers that you can understand and this helps you (the client) make wise decisions & feel confident you were informed of all the legal ramifications of those decisions. I got to witness someone pay a good amount of money for this attorney to sit on her butt and ignore her client for over 2 years for something as simple and easy as his child support case. Then, she has the audacity to send a large bill and want payment for sending emails back and forth to the opposing attorney getting no where. The opposing attorney requested taxes and ppwk and we sent them in the next day. In 2 years, she’s STILL not even sent that to him! She’s done absolutely NO WORK on this case what so ever! Emails and voicemails have went weeks to months unanswered. Her Aussie assistant will tell you she’s “in court” but how is she in court 5 days a week and not able to respond to a simple “can we please have an update on this case?”. Because of her lack of representation, lack of communication, and all around unprofessionalism, she’s been reported to the bar. Stay away! Do not invest or hire in this attorney.

Mrs. Bristol and her staff are excellent listeners. Our family has struggled with obtaining an appropriate and adequate placement in public education for several years, to no avail. Mrs. Bristol was immediately able to have testing done at the school level, took charge in changing the way certain IEP goals were measured, and has been exceptional/versed in supporting our child's rights in special education. This has been a first for our family in obtaining legal aid for our child, we never considered legal representation in the past but it is worth every penny and immense peace of mind.

Prepare for a long detailed review. They are worth it!!
During my long exstensive divorce...I found my circumstances were much more severe than expected. I reached out to a retired Knox Co. judge informing him my current dissatisfaction with the enigma of my case and previous attorney (NOT Luke) and the outcome of our future. The judge encouraged and edified Luke Shipley as the best and most qualified to get me the outcome that I needed for the protection and safety of my daughter and I. I hired Luke who at the time was with another law firm. I quickly noticed he was doing far more exstensive research, work, and digging then what was recorded on the law firms invoices. The complexity of my case was heart breaking and confusing. The paper trail alone was enough to cause high anxiety but not for Luke. Luke was fluid in his knowledge and expertise of the law able to stay ahead of the opponent. He brought in his powerful wife who was able to shed light on the criminal aspect of the case. I was beyond thankful when Luke and Megan began their own practice. By this time, Luke had already fixed the mess the previous attorney had made and began helping me undo all the emotional and mental control from my ex by shedding light on the truth and going to bat for me. He defended me, my daughter, and the law. Luke and Megan's code of ethics and financial practices are honest, hard working, and for the good of their clients. No one wants to go through the pain and loss of divorce...but when you do, it's GOOD to have attorneys who fight for you, listen to you, and understand you. Mr. Brinson helped me so much through my divorce. It was not something I ever thought I would go through, and Mr. Brinson was kind and understanding throughout the process. He answered my questions in a way that helped me understand some complicated things, but never made me feel dumb. I was also in contact with Mr. Brinson often because of my many questions and concerns, and he never got impatient with me. He always took the time to talk to me without seeming to rush. I am disabled and Alex Brinson was assigned to me for divorce on a 30 year marriage from a husband that was controlling and abusive. When Alex told me he was dropping me because couldn't get husband served (even though husband in military) I didn't know what to do so I tried to find him myself (with backup assistance of course). When Alex found out he was extremely rude and told me I didn't act like an abused spouse and was a stalker. I cannot believe how rude and unprofessional this attorney was to me. He has no idea what I have been through and how controlling my husband was. I just want a divorce!!! Alex has no clue about military divorces nor what all was required when filing paperwork with the court. Don't expect him to go above and beyond for you or be professional. I don't even know why he works through legal aide if he doesn't plan on providing appropriate services. With his limited knowledge on divorce and rude demeanor I would never recommend him to anyone!

Mr. Fix was willing to look into and help me regarding my grandmothers estate. While I had trouble getting others to help or even listen, Mr. Fix actually took the time to look into the situation. He was willing to help sort out what was going on. He went above and beyond and helped me get answers. His assistance helped give me some closure and provided some much needed details into all that had occured.

I hired Bill to help me with a probate case. He was very attentive at first but with time he began to not return my calls, emails and letters sent in the mail. I’ve called him for the last 6 months trying to get probate closed and he won’t even provide an excuse for the lack in communication. I’ve paid him in full, which I guess was my mistake.

TERRIBLE...Absolutely do not use!!!! We used for a custody case and he lost miserably. We felt like we were stuck and allowed a lot due to false hope he continued to give as a means to keep sucking in your money. Examples: we paid retainer and never knew what it went towards. Scheduled meetings and he would be 20 min or more late for and during the private meetings we had, he would take other client phone calls and discuss their case on the phone openly with us in the room. This was taking away from our allotted time of which he as always late for. The meetings would have numerous interruptions yet would still be billed for the entire hour. There was a lot of fraudulent billing for work or services not performed. Most all scheduled court hearings, he would show up to court late. Continue to put off the court dates as a means to extract additional billed hours. Charged 8 hours full bill rate for a 15 minutes in court to schedule a new court date(never know a real reason) and then wanted to sit out on the bench outside court room and smoke while talking about motorcycles. Yet, he billed for entire day fraudulently. Yes, you will be billed for his smoke breaks! He smokes a lot. Absolutely do not use this attorney! Almost a year after the case was resolved we received an additional 2800 bill from him. When questioning it was bills for made up items like the additional time spend talking on the park bench about motorcycles while he smoked. The numerous times the called us to get information that they had been provided up front in a 3 ring binder printed off and emailed. yet since they lost it, they charged again for us obtaining it. Numerous items such as this. Never once received a statement or breakdown of anything even though it was asked for several times. I denied the 2800 additional fraudulent charges. Never heard anything for a year and a collections company called. I explained and denied the charges with them and contacted Meeks office again to dispute the charges. Again they agreed to discontinue the charges. 6 months later I was served a week before a scheduled court hearing over the charges. I contacted the courts and asked to reschedule due to preplanned work trip the week of the hearing. I was directed to reschedule with Meeks office since they requested the date and hearing. I contracted them and explained the business trip for my work and had proof of it. They gave new proposed court date and would reschedule it so we could have it heard. They did not do as we agreed and had the case heard while I was on work trip anyway getting a judgement against me due to default. This attorney is crooked and will only steal your money. As far as my case was concerned. He told of all these wonderful things he could make happen in court and when it came down to it. Absolutely, did NOT deliver on anything. Actually cost me all these wasted attorney fees on top of dragging out the case a year longer then he should have. It was a custody case and this Attorney got his Butt handed to him in court. Absolutely terrible attorney and as a business, they are liars and fraudulent in their billing. You must Have a written contract and record ever single occurrence with this legal team. Yes, its a family affair. Choose a different attorney to represent you by all means. You will be money ahead and thankful. This attorney was never prepared and was blind sided ever step of the way as a result. Which will only cost you in the end. He IS going to charge you for all his mistakes and all his breaks. You will pay for his motorcycles and his daughters working for him. Choose wisely- choose someone else. This is my experience with Mr. Meeks and his team. Hope it helps others not fall victim.

I have used Tracy Knight as my attorney on two completely unrelated occasions: once for my estate planning, and secondly when I found myself being criticized for my job performance after being sexually assaulted in my workplace. She was fine for my estate planning; I knew what I wanted and she drew up the necessary paperwork for my will and advanced directive. Where she really excelled, however, was at employment law. She warned me ahead of time that if my employer began to focus on my job performance and then fired me, she could no longer be of assistance. Her predictions were, unfortunately absolutely on the money. My employer began to criticize my job performance and then fired me based upon my performance review. Despite 12 years of successful work, I was forced to retire because I was no longer employed. A lesser attorney would have taken my case (and my money), lost the case, and I would have been much worse off than I am. I am grateful for her integrity, honesty, and knowledge of employment law. She receives my highest recommendation."
