Attorney Dixon was very attentive. She explained the process each step of the way. She was fearless in court and when dealing with opposing counsel. I was confident in her ability to handle my case and was very satisfied with the outcome. She is very knowledgeable of military separation laws. Hopefully I will never be in this situation again, but if I am, I would definitely use her again. I was very pleased with Attorney Dixon and her team.

People are very nice there I can give them that. But their business practices are horrible!!!! The communications is slim to none. Try to get a TRO submitted since August!!! Everytime I call it's an excuse why it wasn't done. I even had to do my own leg work to find out information to submit for the TRO. Hoping that would move it along. I still have yet to recevie a update, message, letter, email, nothing absolutely nothing. This has been mentally draining and scaring. I know where I stand with them and now since it is December. I am starting to think they will just hope I will stop calling for a update.

Amazing law firm. Being active duty and going through what has to be a record for the longest divorce process ever. He’s helped me end a long drawn out, overdue divorce. I was so excited and almost in tears when my divorce became final. Through the process his team provided me with much needed peace and reassurance. I really appreciate the patience with my case. I needed a lawyer that would listen to me . I was going through a custody issue with my ex-wife. I tried to explain my issues with other attorneys and they stated it was too complicated. I was about to give up until a friend of mine who is a lawyer told me that the best person to go to if I wanted to stand a chance of winning was Kimberly Phillips. I told her my story and all the issues that I was having. She told me that she understood what I was going through and knew exactly what to do to help me with my situation. I hired her because I knew that she really wanted to help me. Her actions spoke louder than her words. She always contacted me continuously to keep me up to date at all times on what direction we were headed. I never had to wonder what was going on. She was always available to answer all my questions. She is very honest. She always showed concern. It seems as if she never stop working. She made me feel that I was her only client. I appreciated her kindness and her patience. Mrs. Phillips explained legal terms to me in a way that I could understand it. Mrs. Phillips did endless research on my case and was able to discover things about my ex-wife that I didn't know. In court, Mrs Phillips STOOD HER ground. I was very impressed. She is very good. If it wasn't for Mrs.Phillips, I would not have won custody of my son. I can not thank her enough. I rarely, if ever, write reviews, but had to make an exception for Kimberly Hughes Phillips. She is a true professional and she represented me well, in a very difficult case. Mrs. Phillips worked tirelessly to make sure my concerns were heard in court, regarding my concerns about my children. Her hard work enabled me to obtain primary and legal custody of my children. She thoroughly listened to my case and did her best to make sure that all of my expectations in the case were met. Her staff is also fantastic. Would definitely recommend Kimberly Hughes Phillips.

I hired Johnathan for a semi complicated custody case. After being hired I found out that my ex had already filed and we had a court date already set. I sent this information to Johnathan he informed me that he had prior arrangements and couldn’t make it but would have someone step in on his place. Emily was wonderful and professional and also knowledgeable.
My issue is more with billing and communication on what I would be billed. I turned out that due to Johnathans personal conflict with my initial court date I would not be paying 350 for any communication with Johnathan and an additional 250 for Emily. Had I known this would be the car I would had asked to be transferred over to Emily only as she was able to show up for my case and while my case was semi complicated it an experienced lawyer should’ve been wholly able to navigate it better than myself.
Additionally, dusting a family emergency I called his office on a Thursday at 2:40 and was informed that he was not at his desk but would call me back. Due to urgency I then sent an email of which did not get responded to until Monday. He then informed me that his lack of response was because I did not include his assistant or the other attorney that I didn’t even know had been added to my case. Having never hired an attorney before better communication was expected in terms of who I would get billed for. The handout while full of information on how much certain tiers of employees would cost is helpful but really of no use when no one communicates and says this attorney will also be added to your case at your expense because on personal conflicts.
I discontinued his services after he could not be reached and I informed him of my issues, feelings, and how I felt about his services and he responded with he “respectfully disagreed”
I would recommend Emily as I actually did get to met with her in person and speak with her. I know billing and lack of communication was not her fault.

I knew I had selected the right attorney by the end of our initial consultation. I hired him to represent me as I navigated a divorce after a 38-year marriage. Although we used mediation & did not have to go to court, Jonathan was there every step of the way to be sure I was treated fairly. I selected Jon McHugh of the Livesay & Myers Leesburg office to help me through a recent divorce. I unfortunately have experience with other divorce attorneys and because of previous issues, I interviewed a few others before I finally picked Jon.
I was immediately impressed with his candor and demeanor. He didn't tell me what I wanted to hear, like many have. He also didn't look at his watch before he said hello or goodbye like I've experienced in the past. He listened to my story and gave me his thoughts about a path forward. I was sold on him after the first five minutes.
Working with Jon and his support staff was my favorite of all time attorney interactions. Jon and Margaret Stanley were extremely responsive to any of my questions or requests and I never got the feeling that they were looking for things to charge me for like I've experienced in the past.
The bottom line is that the final settlement came out much better than we discussed in the beginning. I chalk that up to Jon knowing what he is doing and the strategy he laid out working better than expected. Exceeding expectations is how you get satisfied customers and I certainly am one. As a side note, this cost me less in legal fees than I expected and much less than I've previously experienced.
I would highly recommend the Livesay & Myers law firm and Jonathan McHugh in specific.

II retained Martha after my ex-wife put a restraining order against me, and than filed for a divorce. My case was difficult as I was not able to obtain any needed documents as they were very old and only copy we had were in the home, and I did not had access to my home to retrieve them. Martha helped me in preparing all documents needed in a court. My fiancé and I had the pleasure of working with Livesay & Myers, I had Sarah as my lawyer and Sunny as my paralegal. we started working with Sarah in the beginning of the 2023 till now, from our consultation, all the way till now we have nothing but amazing things to say, Sarah is so sweet and understanding, she is very calm and listens to everything you have to say, she gives you great advice on how to handle everything and how to speak and document.
Sunny is so down to earth, always there to answer my calls or emails. When Sarah was busy, she was quick to answer and replay back with great advice,
My ex-husband gave us a big run around and we all were very frustrated and Sarah and Sunny made sure I was very calm and collected.
Neither Sarah nor Sunny gave up on us esp. with what we thought was best for the kids.
I will continue to stay in touch and keep them updated with how my 2 older children are doing.
The front desk is Sheree and when she answers the calls her voice is so sweet and kind. I loved talking to her, she just puts a smile on your face when arriving to the office.
I don't think of them as a lawyer, I now think of them as family.

I reached out to this firm on September 6th for consultation on a lease matter. After working with the intake coordinator and not hearing anything, I sent a follow up email on September 11th. It is now September 30th and I have not heard from an attorney or anyone. Needless to say this was a time sensitive matter (as most lease issues are) and you blew it. Thanks for the assistance. I had moved from MD to VA a few years ago and procrastinated about having my Will, POA and Health directive changed to meet VA requirements. Ben Brasfield took my case and when it was all over he said something to the effect of, “If you’re willing to outwork the other side things will go your way”… or something like that…He’s definitely not lazy! It wasn’t advice for me, it was a general statement of how he prepped to take the case, but I still think about that. He’s smart, strategic, thorough, and experienced. He had a good staff or paralegals as well.

She held my hand through much of the process answering every question with patience and I always felt protected. My ex husband was not as big of a fan often referring to her as my personal guard dog. Kurt Brickman was a very arrogant and condescending attorney who did not disclose that he had been recently charged with providing illegal substances to a child. There was no way possible that he could properly represent me, while trying to gain leniency in his own criminal case. This showed up in his representation. I was imprisoned for 30-days without a trial, without even having charges brought against me and he did not fight, argue or appeal the judgement. In fact, I did not hear from him the entire 30-days I was in jail and didn't hear from him upon my release.
I hired him for a custody matter and it went terrible, he offered no apologies, no refunds and his firm harassed me for months for further payment. His representation is deplorable and I would recommend him to my worst enemy. Kurt lacks integrity, had I known of his charges, I never would've hired him. I question the integrity of any firm that hires him. From experience, look elsewhere for proper and respectful representation.

You truly get what you pay for, especially in legal representation. And if your kids mean enough to you you won't think twice about retaining Craig Sampson. A father in a custody battle in VA can be a bad position to be in and bring low expectations regarding the outcome. Craig is the best in the business hands down. Extremely well prepared and has a court presence second to none. He will shine for you if given the opportunity. His pre-trial performance stopped the opposition in their tracks so overwhelmingly, they withdrew the case prior to the actual trial. Where they were not prepared, he was and made that day the trial. The judge acknowledged every point and legal precedent he presented. I can't say enough to truly explain his skill sets and professionalism, but you can witness it yourself. Although this is business, I will be eternally grateful for what he did for me and my daughters ensuring we stayed as one, family.
