Kristilyn has represented me many times over the last two years and helped me navigate a very difficult custody case. My father had worked with her in the past and suggested I reach out to her- his exact words were "She's a pitbull and the best in the business". He was right.
I divorced 8 years ago, but have been fighting in court for custody of my youngest daughter for the past 3 years. I used Bliss Law Group, specifically Riley Moos, to represent me in an especially contentious protection order against my husband (and father of my only child) after calling the police on him for the third time in 2 years. The night that I left was the final straw when he tried to break down the bedroom door to get to me. My ex was extremely upset when I filed for the protection order, vowing that by the time the hearing was finished, he would have full custody of our daughter....As you can imagine, I was quite scared!!!! A lot of people say that protection orders are easy to get but ours was much more complex. When I left my husband, the only place I could go, was back to him, or to a homeless/abused women's shelter. I would not allow my daughter to suffer either one of those situations and decided to take her out of state, to my hometown, where we could stay with family while we could pick up the pieces of our broken lives. The decision to leave the state was best for my daughter but it added greatly to the potential repercussions of leaving my husband. My attorney, Riley Moos, swooped in and saved the day. It's hard to describe, but from the moment I started talking to her, I knew we would win that protection order; I could tell when I talked to her that she had read all of the 25 page protection order I'd written recounting the treatment I'd endured over the years, and I knew that she was 100% invested in protecting myself and my daughter. She believed in my cause and she pursued it like a mother bear protecting her cubs. In the final protection order hearing, the Commissioner stated that there was a preponderance of evidence of coercive control. He ordered my husband undergo a substance abuse evaluation and domestic abuse evaluation. And here, I must applaud my ex-husband, because he allowed this feedback to change him. He's been going to AA 5x a week for the past year, has gotten sober, and has turned his life around. None of this would have been possible without Riley. I had previously talked to a pro-bono attorney and could tell that she had no interest in *fighting* for me, or even in reading the lengthy protection order I had written. If it hadn't been for my attorney, Riley Moos, my daughter and I wouldn't be safe in our new home, and my ex-husband wouldn't have turned his life around!!!

I had a phone consult with Amanda to discuss a settlement after a dissolution of an intimate partnership. The consult was on a Wednesday afternoon. She told me she would have a settlement letter drafted by the following week and out to me. It took her four additional weeks to generate a letter. Covid was a complicating factor, however each Friday afternoon that I called to check on the status of my letter, there were excuses and almost outright hostility. No emails or calls to update me on progress. When they finally generated the letter and sent it out, they didn’t send a final copy to me. I got a new lawyer who is very communicative. He sent her an email to request a refund of my trust money and She charged me $103 to review his email and refund my money along with the almost $45 a week she charged me to call to check on the status of my overdue letter. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had with a professional. I wondered at times if there was something else going on in her life.

She is very inexperienced and unhelpful. Most importantly, she provided me with materially false information and coerced me to sign something that was not in my interest and not what all parties agreed to at a joint meeting. She had a duty to resolve the issue, do what she promised to do, and put in writing what all parties agreed to at a joint meeting. Yet, she failed to do her duty. I had no idea that signing what she told me to sign under the threat of withdrawal was modifying parenting plan. A normal process of modifying a parenting plan would take at least 13 months and with significant burden of proof by the party who wants to modify it. Yet, she just told me to sign something that was actually giving up my right, and she did not even tell me that. I thought it was a temporary thing. In summary, she is inexperienced, unreliable, extremely weak, unconscientious, not a good advocate for whom she is supposed to be paid for representing. She just let the other party dictate everything and told me to obey. I was hesitate to hire her at first. But her boss told me he would be providing supervision. But he did not; he sold me a lemon. Do not be fooled by her or her boss. Stay away. I had to hire another attorney to clean up the mess she created. I was able to achieve my goal with another attorney. So, save yourself time, resources and headache and stay away from her.

I missed a court date that his office never notified me about. He was unprepared for hearings and said he had other cases going. That cost me $1,500 In her attorney fees. He never sent the $23,000 check back. That cost me another $1,500 in attorney fees. I had to search the court docket and notify him of this court date. He apologized for not sending the check back and said he’d make it right. When I told him he could cover the fees and not charge me his, he filed to remove himself as counsel. Gave the wrong email address so I was not notified. I had to see it searching to see if I had anymore court dates.

A comment that still haunts me 16 years after the divorce. Such a red flag and Aaron shields should have been fired on the spot. During the divorce he said “your kids are young enough, you can leave now and they won’t remember you!” Two weeks later my X said word for word the exact same thing. So Aaron was bought off by my X whose mother worked for her attorney abill Sullivan at the time. Clearly they wanted to erase me from my daughter’s existence. It’s now 2024 X held in contempt 2x, one daughter completely alienated since 2022. I hope people avoid using lawyers like this one because he is nothing more than a used used car salesman- that clearly works for his pocket lining and not his clients best interests.

Divorce mediation oversight leaving out notice to let other party know of "late" missed payments. March to June 9th resulted in $28,500 in late fees. I paid immediately when notified. The $150 per day compounding fees added up. Unintentional oversight from changing accounts. I was threatened with imprisonment by opposing counsel Robert Miller/Brewe Layman.

It is so hard for me to build the courage to write what I know my fellow citizens and especially those like myself have held their right hand to their heart every single day in allegiance of the land we love. Aaron took money from me in a family matter. Knowing I am clean as a judge I was hoaxed into accepting an awe full arrangement which has made seeing my son nearly a functional obsolescence. Aaron. barged me near enough to $40,000 and I barely see my son. I do not smoke, drink and I am a good father.
I have since tried to reach Aaron but always seem to end up speaking with his extremely rude and obnoxious phone lady Jennifer.
Jennifer scares me as well. She is so rude and Aaron is one sneaky attorney. Stay away from the crooks.
In my clear purview Aaron is a washed up attorney with no loyalty to his clients. Aaron is a walmart attorney.
I have no fear that Aaron and Jennifer will now try and ruin my life even more. 100% not afraid of that clown.
Hire a young attorney who has not forgot why he/she became an attorney.
I feel as though Aaron was using my money to pay off debts or gambling I do not know what I know is the lack of representation and the amount charge seems criminal.

We retained Laura due to her extensive glowing reviews on avvo. Unfortunately, the service provided by her and her team did not meet the standards illustrated herein. Laura failed to make a presence in our case and retain any vital case details as well as failing to respond on our behalf. The documents she submitted us for review each listed minor and major oversights illustrating a lack of investment from her team. After utilizing over half of the retainer paid "reviewing case details" she failed to recall any information regarding our requests or specific details of our case. Each document we received had a different jurisdiction heading including Kitsap, Pierce and King counties while our case was taking place solely in Kitsap county. These details are important but clearly illustrated a "cut and paste" investment in preparing court documents. I have never received such poor efficiency in utilization of a legal retainer. After notifying client services of our concerns, they failed to address our concerns nor request for alternate legal representation nor respond as promised. The majority of our retainer was consumed at a rapid rate thereafter. It appears we were billed for a performance review and for clerical errors to be updated throughout the case. I have never seen such a high retainer be consumed before even appearing in court. After 8 years of practice, I would have expected a better performance from our representation.

Laura Carlsen was our second attorney. Our case was a unique custody case involving same sex partners. After doing some research, we thankfully found Laura Carlsen. As soon as we hired Ms Carlsen, she immediately got right to the issues at stake and took action.
Ms. Carlsen is intelligent and professional. She does not mince words; she will tell you exactly where your case stands and then go to bat for you. She is not afraid to go to court and will do so when warranted. However, she did whatever she could to save us money and worked hard to keep our custody case from going to trial. I was scheduled for a phone consultation weeks down the road from the day I set the appointment. Then I had to reschedule for personal traveling that left me unavailable. Naturally, this meant waiting an additional amount of time for a new opening. The morning of the newly rescheduled appointment finally arrived. I had taken time off work to be available. The morning of, I was notified that there was no room for the topic I needed to discuss (basic quit claim deed for county files). The morning of! That delayed me even further to complete the task because I was back to square one of finding an office to handle my case. Super simple case and they can’t tell me until the day of the appointment that they actually don’t have space for it. Very unprofessional.

Terrible Experience with Gravis Law - Would Not Recommend
My experience with Gravis Law in Tacoma has been incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. It took more than three months just to secure my initial appointment. During that meeting, I was assured that scheduling the next appointment would be easy, but I never heard back from them again.
I requested them to review some documents, and they took payment directly from my union membership account. The only confirmation I have is that they received my payment. Since then, there has been no communication—no updates, no responses to emails or calls—for over three months.
This kind of service is unacceptable for a law firm. I would strongly advise against using Gravis Law.

Deeply unprofessional and discriminatory conduct from Theresa Lorella and this firm. Unethical law firm that refuses to provide an itemized receipt. Ms Lorella sold herself as being capable of the most difficult divorce settlements but after 3 months and tens of thousands of dollars later she was incapable of doing even the bare minimum such as get my non marital personal property back. Ms Lorella also engages in bigoted behavior and when her firm disciplined her for the matter she quit the next day in retaliation. If you are a member of any marginalized community you do not want to hire this law firm.
I also believe there was a fraudulent use of funds and Ms Lorella’s relationship with opposing counsel was a serious issue. I do not believe she operated in good faith. Must be nice to collect a six figure paycheck off of the dissolution of families.

I wasted my money and had to fire them both! Valerie was able to get to the facts and help me understand my rights. I cannot thank Valerie enough, she was able to get me 50% custody of my boys!! Zero stars. I don't know what makes him decide to do his job with clients but he definitely didn't do it with my wife and I. He emailed saying he failed at representing us after doing nothing but taking my money, Waist of 3000$. I had Christopher Hoxie as my legal aid appointed attorney and what a huge mess it was. I was not fairly represented at all. He never worked on my case, his legal team would literally never get back to me when it was urgent. I have been dealing with my divorce since 2020 and it is still not over yet because of how slow he works. He never did anything I was told he was going to do even when it was detrimental to my case. His paralegals changed ALL THE TIME and no one would ever tell me. All he cared about was that I wasn't paying him and he is very slow. I'm glad to have him off my case and had to hire a competent lawyer to fairly represent me in court and actually show up to hearings because my last hearing, he wasn't even there. Absolutely ridiculous service. Never hire this law firm ever or you will be absolutely wasting your time.

As a busy working father divorcing a stay-at-home mom, odds were against me to get equal custody of the children. However, in what could have been a very ugly custody battle, thanks to Elise's expertise I was able to get a settlement for 50% custody. Additionally she connected us with the right team of experts (coparenting counselor, financial expert, child psychologist) that were instrumental in making the process as conflict free as possible.

Very disappointed with Elise Buie Family Law. I prepaid $2,500 for a prenup, and I was forced to cancel due to emergency repairs on a property I own. I spoke with Kathryn Silk for 30 minutes (Elise and Kathryn were both late for their appointments) just to get things started and she told me she had jury duty and would not start my case for another week or so. I canceled the very next day and they hit me with a $690 bill and refunded $1810. It was in the contract that they charge $350 to set up a client, so thought I would get $2,150 back. They did absolutely nothing except for a 30 minute call and charged $690. Elise initially told me she would have one of the paralegals/assistants do most of the work to keep my costs down, then she has Kathryn do the work who charges $340/hr (assistants charge $150-215/hr). I am glad I did not proceed with them. There is no doubt in my mind now that they were going to hit me with another huge bill at the end saying something along the lines of "your case took a lot more time than expected. You owe another $2,000." They are dishonest, unethical people here at Elise Buie Family Law.
