I was a wreck after being surprised one evening by someone at my door serving me a petition to modify the custody arrangement my ex and I agreed to just a year prior. As a single father fighting to keep primary custody of my two children I knew the odds were stacked against me. But after doing a lot of research and a couple of interviews with other attorneys I found myself meeting with Melissa and I hired her immediately. I left that meeting KNOWING everything was going to be ok, and I was right. Every phone call was answered immediately, every e-mail was promptly replied to, and if I needed some face time I got it.
She is the one you want in your corner. If you find yourself looking across the courtroom and she's on the other side, be nervous...very nervous.

My experience with my divorce was not that bad. It was not a typical divorce. It was very amicable. But I am the exception to the rule. I am certain if you are going through a divorce process it will not be as friendly as mine.
Laura Grumbine (my attorney) and Kate Koscheski (Paralegal) made this life event as smooth as possible.
Kate regularly updated me with the status of my case and made requests of any documents needed. She also was there to remind me if I forgot (which happens too often) or ommited anything.
Divorce is never an easy process for anyone. Laura made sure I stayed focused and helped me achieve a settlement outcome that I was pleased with.

Catherine was a great "partner" to help me through my divorce. I had a fairly difficult situation with custody and she helped navigate through very skillfully. She is extremely smart, consultative and will always shoot straight with you.
One of the things I like most about Catherine is her "get it done" attitude. With most attorneys - the clock is their friend. With Catherine - she always did what was in my best interest and did it efficiently. Just one telling example - we needed to file a document early on in the process and instead of taking handwritten notes (like most attorneys would), and having her paralegal type it up later, review it, etc... Catherine turned around to her computer and just hammered it out. It saved time because it was done then, and it was done right the first time. I'm not saying this will happen all the time - but its a good example of her personality.
She didn't always agree with what I wanted to do, but was always able to calmly explain the possible implications and we always came out with a solid strategy. All in all, the best outcome was achieved for me and for my children.
I highly recommend her.

Absolute charlatans. Initially spoke with Kennedy who told me everything I wanted to hear and referred me to Alonzo. All I was asking for is to have the court and force my custody rights in the Texas divorce decree. After draining my wallet for $25,000 over 2 years my case never got in front of a judge. My ex-wife's crackerjacks lawyer from some legal.com website kept my lawyer on her heels the entire time. My lawyer also found inventive ways to charge me more money and get a psychiatrist friend of hers into my pocket as well. Adding insult to injury, a friend of mines mother works at a competing law firm and was blown away that Gray and Becker was so ineffectual over something so black and white as custody outlined in a divorce decree IN THE SAME STATE THE DIVORCE WAS PROPAGATED.

Terrible Divorce Lawyer - Do Not Hire
I would not recommend this lawyer for your divorce. Not only is he incredibly unprofessional, but he also fails to deliver on basic legal responsibilities. He never filed any of the necessary documents for my divorce, and I was left completely in the dark throughout the process. He doesn't answer calls, doesn't follow up, and completely ignores your concerns. I regret choosing him and would strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

I used Shane and his team once again. This time was to ensure that my daughter was to remain living in Texas with me. This is the third time that I have needed help from the McFarland Law Firm. This was my first time working with his new team that includes Mo and Anna. Once again, McFarland law did not disappoint. Communication was clear, honest, and above all constant. Brilliant strategies in court. Shane and team were very honest and clear about all the options that could happen moving forward so that there were no real surprises. Shane will tell you what you don't want to hear as well. This kind of honesty is important as well. Shane and his team demonstrated the upmost professionalism towards the the other parties involved even when emotions ran a bit high.

If you want someone to truly represent you and fight for you, DON’T CHOOSE TRAVIS. Travis is a nice man and does a fine job fighting for you as long as there is no opposition. My ex-wife completely dominated the court process, using her knowledge of the judicial system, and how to manipulate it for her benefit and invoked delay after delay. Travis did nothing to counter. Proceeding started in Nov-2022, with a divorce decree granted to me by Judge Joe Pool on January 8, 2024. However, my ex-wife’s attorney filed for a new trial in March-2024. Travis was totally unprepared. I believed he thought that my ex-wife would be a no-show, just like on January 8th, when she was a no-show. When she showed up with her attorney, he was caught flat footed and failed to present my case properly to the judge, and the Judge Pool granted a new trial.
New mediation was set for June 17, 2024. The first thing Travis told me at mediation was that I may need to get a new attorney because his firm, Brandon Bledsoe, was being bought by another firm, Smith Family Law, and they would not be dealing with Hayes County. It went downhill from there. Travis had no motivation or desire to really represent me or fight for me, and in my opinion, he threw me under the bus just to get rid of me and be done with it. I was an embarrassment to him after he failed to present my case properly to Judge Pool, and the judge granted a new trial to my ex-wife.
There was no middle ground in the mediation and I kept telling Travis to just set a trial date. They did not listen to me and continued for another eight hours. After eight hours, even though I kept telling him to just set a trial date, I was tired and wore down, and they told me to just sign this agreement and then I would never have to deal with her again. It was a bad, bad settlement, completely lopsided and unfair, but Travis wanted to wash his hands and be done with me. He didn’t care as long as I was gone.
If you are looking for an attorney who truly cares about your case and is truly willing to fight for you, I would NOT RECOMMEND TRAVIS GRANGER, even though he is now at his new law firm, Smith Family Law.
